Great spot. A bit expensive but the food was so delicious it's now on my favorite list. I had the chicken sandwich with truffle fries .

The waiter was very nice but unfortunately we have tried this place three times and never had a good experience the brunch is boring the food over priced the only thing we enjoyed was the tuna crisp. Better luck to who tries this place for anything other than appetizers read more

Fantastic restaurant!! So happy with this new addition to the area. My burger was perfect, the portion size was great and the Oreo mousse was so light and delicious. We also had the calamari and flatbread appetizers which were spot on. The beer menu is eclectic and creative and I can't wait to dive into the bourbon list. The question isn't whether we'll be back, but how often we'll be here each week. read more

Love Paragon! This place has so much going for it. Awesome food from Chopped Champion Chef Eric LeVine, incredible craft beer selection from the Craft Beer GM Mike DeSimone, and great ambiance. The Tuna Tartare Flatbread app is amazing. All of their burgers seriously rock - and the Baconeater Burger is in a league of its own. I only recently had a item not intended to be eaten with one's hands, namely the Flat Iron Steak, which was terrific. I've yet to try dessert @ Paragon...maybe someday soon. What I'm really looking forward to is their brunch - beginning 1/4/15. The people at Paragon seriously rock - from bar to wait staff. Definitely a great place. Do it. read more

This place is awesome. I've been here for dinner and brunch and wasn't disappointed. $15 for bottomless bloody Mary's and mimosas, yes please!! The owner is so nice as well. He came over to our table and brought us his favourite cocktail. I highly recommend this place. read more

Our favorite place in the area. Our first visit, the week the place opened, was a huge disaster. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. Food took forever, wrong orders, etc. However, the manager comped our entire bill and this made us feel good about giving Paragon another chance. The first few times we visited, we ate in the dining room. The place is nice, but the dining room has a bit of a stale vibe. Once we started eating in the bar area, we truly fell in love with the place. The food has been fantastic ever since, and the beer list is always superb. The "Craft Beer GM" knows his beers. Born and raised in Holland, I am a Belgian and German beer connoisseur/aficionado, and would humbly call myself an amateur expert. I have been very excited about the fact that more and more European beers are being imported and offered in the US every year. When I moved here in 2004, you wouldn't find more than maybe simple pilsners like Stella and Becks. Now, many classic European ales are available, and Paragon picks out all the good ones. US microbreweries are catching up and the quality and drinkability of American ales are going up. Again, Paragon consistently picks out the best ones and I've discovered many great American ales at Paragon that I now purchase to enjoy at home. The food at Paragon is fun and delicious and always prepared well. My only "complaint" would be that, when coming here weekly (every Friday night), you will have had everything on the menu within a couple of months and we've grown kinda bored with the food. More specials and rotating dishes would be more than welcome. The other slight downer is that the place has become so overly popular that it has now become very hard, if not impossible, to get a table by the bar on a Friday night. There will be dozens of people standing around like vultures waiting for a table to open up and it sometimes gets ugly with people "fighting" over a table. So much so that at this point we drop in to check, with a backup option already picked out, and end up going somewhere else more often than not. A real shame. Weekday nights are better but can sometimes be equally crazy. But when you do get a table by the bar with a few friends, it's often an all-night hang and probably the best one in the area. I think if they opened the place up (remove the wall that separates the bar area) and went for a more rustic vibe in the dining room (long harvest tables, randomly placed high tops, maybe a few booths, no table cloths, same wood decor as the bar area), the place would be a real winner. Gastropub = big clean open space, industrial meets Irish pub, with some steampunk thrown in. The dining room area misses the mark entirely. If the entire place had the same vibe as the bar area, this place would be as close as you could get to perfection. read more

Delicious food!! A bit over-priced for the amount of food, but it is Clark. And the quality of food is great. So if you measure price with quantity this is not for you. If you love quality of ingredients and food prep than it is perfect! Our waiter was excellent, even after we asked him to choose our beers for the flights. He seemed a little uneasy at first but he came up with great choices. Also the timing of the food was excellent. The food itself was great. The buffalo dip was so yummy and came out fast! The butternut squash ravioli was perfect and moist. The great thing is that although it was a veggie dish, you are able to add steak, chicken, or shrimp for small additional cost. So we got it with steak. We also got the red snapper. It was cooked the right amount and little clams on top was a nice touch. Overall great food, great ambiance, and would go again for a pick me up or special occasion. read more

Not a fan. Went one weekday afternoon and found the staff to be friendly but ineffectual. Management was having some sort of whiskey tasting training in the adjoining room and everyone was there (including our waiter) to get in on the fun. Most of the food was HEAVILY seasoned (especially the ginger pork sticks), almost as if to mask something else, and there were flies around, which is never a good sign. Walked by the kitchen on the way to restroom and saw what looked like some teenagers (or VERY youthful adults) hanging out there, just chilling. Maybe it's great as a bar, but certainly wasn't much in the gastronomy arena. One (visit) and done. read more

I love this place. I have been there for UFC fights...New Years Eve...Date Night and just for drinks. The beer selection is amazing. The food is awesome. I love the staff. They know what beer is available and give great details of what to expect from certain brews. The tab can get pricey. If you want the best experience stay on the bar side. If you like spicy food and cheese...ask for the ghost pepper cheese on any dish you like and they will oblige. Their duck quesadillas are amazing but beware!!! They are super spicy...which I love. I am giving this place 4 stars because of the price. We once had a tab of $300 for drinks and apps for 4. This place is one of the best tap houses in NJ. Definitely worth coming here time and time again. I've never been disappointed. Ps...it can get super crowded and loud. read more

This is my favorite place to eat in union county and tonight I got to try the new menu!! I haven't been in here in a while, something had to change, When I arrived at the bar area, it was a mess, food all over the floor, napkins, as well as other garbage. The bar itself was filthy. So while I was there it's hard not to listen to the obnoxiously loud foul mouthed female bartender, total turn off for business. At one point she yells out "You all need to hurry up, I need to get home to my fucking cats !" WHAT !!!!! What really caught my parties eye was at the end of the night, We assumed they were staff from the back of the house sitting at the bar, just by the way the bar staff was speaking with them, all of them looked like slobs, with dingy under shirt tank tops on. It's sad cause this place has such great potential, I always looked at it like a semi upscale place, not after what I observed last night. read more

Sat at bar side with 4 people. It was my friends bday and we were there to get drinks and finger food. Food was good, but my complaint is about our waitress. She was extremely hasty the entire time rushing and extra attitude for no reason. She brought over water to the table when no one asked for it and when we said no we didn't ask, politely I might add, she said "well someone did" and left the water on the table....okay fine. Not a problem it's just water. Then we ask for dessert menu to which she brings out this dessert tray. I asked "omg that looks so real(many restaurants don't carry around actual desert on the tray given Covid times and it's fake food just to showcase what the food will look like" and she's like "yeah it is" in the nastiest attitude. Lastly, we had paid the bill and we're finishing up using the restroom to leave and she came to the table and said ok I'm picking up this stuff and she grabs all the glasses off the table wipes the table down and walks away- no "thank you guys for coming, sorry to rush you, NOTHING". I don't know if it's trying to be overly efficient and show that your a badass waitress getting shit done but it comes off rude. In Covid times it's hard as is to feel comfortable going out to enjoy a meal and her unwelcoming attitude def did not help. I wish I caught her name but I'm sure management can figure out who this "extra efficient" employee is. Food is fine and drinks are good if you wanna stop by though. read more

Don't do it it's a trap! Reviews are what used to be of this place and now it's overpriced food with absolutely no flavor... I kept taking a bite out of my Mac and cheese with chicken hoping to taste something ten bites in still no flavor. The buffalo chicken dip was the only perk of the food. Chicken sandwich also had no flavor from chicken but the other flavors of the pesto and balsamic were nice. All in all don't ever plan on coming back here unless it's for buffalo chicken dip. P.S. looks can be deceiving. Food looks scrumptious but I promise you it's beyond bland. P.P.S. Place was good, but not great. Food was good, beer selection was good for NJ, but if you are looking for a gastro pub there are better ones close by in O Bryans on the Green, Kilkenny House and Darby Road. Layout is weird and the smell was a little musty the day we went. Really nice appetizers, but the ribs I had were not very good. read more

I tried the Bacon-eater burger, and my wife and I split the Bacon Buffalo chicken dip (apparently it was a bacon themed night). The dip was perfectly fine, although it fell short of my enormous expectations. The burger was fine too. Cooked right, flavorful, but really nothing unique or special. I think my wife felt the same about her burger. Service was what tipped our experience in the wrong direction. Our waitress was friendly and seemed as though she cared, but whoever had the responsibility of refilling our water came up short. Aside from the initial fill-up, our water glasses went underserved for the entirety of our meal. When you're only drinking water, this has a pretty big impact. On a busy night, I can understand this happening, but it wasn't noticeably busy. We were pretty disappointed with that. Nothing is necessarily going to keep us from going back, but there also isn't any real compelling reason to return. read more

I am a BIG fan of Paragon and want to see them succeed. I was very excited when they opened. I live in the area and always enjoy a new quality place. I went several times during the first month they were open. I met the owner and enjoyed delicious food, creative cocktails and great service. I have gone several more times in the last 3 months and have been consistently disappointed. The service is very slow especially when sitting at the bar if you are not already acquainted with the bar tender. The food has declined as well. Items that I loved in early days are just so-so. Please Paragon restore yourself to your original status. I don't want to see another restaurant come and go in the area. I am a fan and want to support this restaurant but can't give a good review. read more

I went here with a few friends and sat on the bar side. My drink of choice was a pear martini, which wasn't bad but super strong and I probably would try something different next time. I'm not about leaving negative reviews, but whoa, this place is so much worse than you'd imagine (see final point). Let's start with the breakfast burrito. The eggs tasted like charred disappointment. The tortilla was a soggy mess that felt like holding a burrito wrapped in Nickelodeon's Gak (you remember Gak? that stuff ruled, but not for making a burrito). Moving forward to the veggie burger. Woof. It seemed to be mostly made of potatoes, trash compost, and a gallon of salt. It was so bad people were taking a fork-full of it just to see if it was as awful as described. The verdict was yes, it was that awful. The fries that came with it were equally a bummer and I'll eat just about anything potato-based. Now here's why I'm actually writing this review. The menu is entirely inaccurate and potentially dangerous for people with food allergies or dietary restrictions. They mark several things as vegan. We asked the waitress to confirm that the ramen listed as "Vegan!" on the menu was actually vegan. After initially saying yes, she trusted her best judgement (thanks waitress, you were great) and confirmed with the kitchen. Surprise! It has egg noodles. Oh, and CHICKEN stock. Egg allergies are common for kids, so they should probably get that straightened out before that escalates real rapidly. And I'm not saying the ramen should be vegan, but you can't just slap the word "vegan" on a dead chicken and magically transform it into not-meat. People can get very sick from the mis-labeling of food on their menu. Definitely watch yourself at this place if you have allergies, so you don't end up using your all-too-expensive Epi-pen as the dessert course here. read more

Nice atmosphere, but the food isn't great. I ordered the scallops and they were over cooked. They were rubbery and inedible. The risotto wasn't great either. It is undercooked, rice was hard and lacked flavor. To be fair, my husband's steak was delicious and cooked perfectly. read more

I have been going to Paragon since it opened. Always has a good rotation of micro brews that changes frequently. As of late food has become hit or miss. Bartenders are also a hit or miss. Sometimes real attentive sometimes not and it has nothing to do with how busy they are. Most troubling issue is that the bartenders and bar backs are drinking more alcohol then the customers. One night I watched them do shot after shot of expensive whiskies and beers on the house. The manager witnessed this going on. I was also there after the kitchen closed and the cooks were having a good old time in the back cooking themselves up all sorts of meals. Maybe this is allowed but I dont know. What I do know is that this is not a sustainable business model and is the beginning of the end. read more

Second time at PTT with the same friend and another diner..... what a different experience!! D wasn't with us when we arrived so there wasn't the same **star factor**. Who knew guests are treated differently when unknown? Our primary server was having a bad day- at least while she was at our table. Without going into the many details of her demeanor and *professional* choices, suffice to say my experience was less than one star. Her support staff was equally poorly trained in the art of attentive service. I had a large opened bottle of sparkling water next to my partially full glass. I was stunned when the tap water pitcher was dumped into that glass. The loss of 8 Oz of expensive Pelligrino pales in comparison to the loss of a customer who's willing to spend the $5+ for that bottle repeatedly as a customer. Each dish brought to the table wasn't known to which diner it was destined....minor detail but compounded by the plethora of apathetic and rude actions by our serving "team". My friend, well known and a regular here told me she never would have chosen table service as our experience was typical. All of us at the table have been in the service business in one form or another. We all enjoy the rapport established by experienced and professional staff..... we all understand that tips contribute to the salaries and living wages of people in the restaurant business. I was generous in that I left a 20% tip. My commentary here will hopefully be seen as a call to attend to the details of the business that contribute massively to one's experience in said business. A smile costs nothing and brings more smiles and good will than sour and apathetic demeanor. Sour belongs in a drink- not on a face. read more

This is a good place. The beer list is excellent, lots of good beer on tap as well as in bottles. If the bar and the restaurant could be separated for purposes of this review, the bar definitely gets 4 stars. I've eaten here twice, once very shortly after it opened and then again this week. I didn't leave a review after my first visit since it wasn't a particularly positive experience which I chalked up to their being new. I'm happy to report things are much better now that it appears that they have their footing. Service was good and we were seated quickly even on a busy night. We had an app of french bread with pesto that was very tasty and was perfect for tiding us over until the main course. I had the BBQ meatloaf and my lady had the pulled pork potato. The meat loaf was OK, good but not outstanding. The mashed potatoes it came with were excellent. The pulled pork my girlfriend had was excellent, and I wound up eating the rest of hers after she was full. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. Overall, it was a pretty good experience and we'll definitely be back. read more
