In April and May of 2022. I used Bessie Campouris to help with my scratched eye. Unfortunately for me, she was new and I reminded her I had Herpes Zolter in the past. She prescribed me a medication that triggered my Herpes Zolter and therefore had two problems to deal with. She would continue to treat me and not be mindful of the situation that I probably should see a Cornea Specialist. She dragged this on for 6 weeks and gave up on her. Now I lost 90% percent of my vision in my right eye. I don't recommend her or this office for eye diseases or injury. Bonus: PVEC in confident staff, also like to not bill you until a year later, so in April 2023 they called me and said I owed them $200 in copayment after I lost my vision. Kind of a problem for some people who like to do taxes. I guess they don't care about that. They don't have a billing system to save on cost. Just stay away. read more

dr macklin is amazing. been seeing him for 10 years and he always finds the right answer to my eye or contact problem. he found a hole in my retina that my opthalmologist missed. he got me into an opthamologist right away who lasered the hole shut instead of dealing with a potential detached retina which can get very ugly. Paradise Valley Eye Care has zero customer service skills or care for the people that pay for their services. They made a mistake and gave me an expired rebate form, which I conversed about with them two times prior before making the decision to pay more for contacts and use the rebate to receive money back. I work a full time 8am to 5pm, no days off, coincidentally the same hours as this eye doctor. I called to tell them their mistake and find a solution, yet they did NOTHING to own up to or accommodate me. I proposed sending it digitally to me as I cannot pick it up, but they said it's not allowed. I am so disappointed because this is an error they made! I should have had the right form AND my money back by now. I already took the time to pick it up, yet they don't care and told me I have to come back or wait a week for it to come in the mail. The front desk lady was incredibly rude. She didn't even try to care. She was short tempered, harsh, and incompetent. They have lost me and my family as customers. I swept other issues aside like giving me the wrong eye prescription, but this is the final straw as it shows their view of their customers. read more

Went in on January 4th and had an eye exam. My optometrist was fantastic. The rest of my experience was an epic failure. I paid $192.00 for a pair of glasses on January 4th after finding out I had near 20/20 vision. These have blue light protection and anti glare to protect my eyes while I work in front a computer throughout the day. I know you tend to pay substantially more at an eye doctor for glasses but I trusted I was getting comparable value, outside of purchasing glasses on my own online that align with my prescription. I was told the glasses may take up to two weeks. No worries. I can wait. Two weeks go by, I call asking about whether or not my glasses have arrived. Not yet, I'm told. They will call me though as soon as they come in and they validate my number. Another week goes by, I call again. They still haven't arrived. But they tell me again that they will call me when they arrive. 2 days later, Irma calls me back on 02/01. "Hi Chris. Was this an order for replacement lenses? I can't find anything here." Me: "No. I'm a brand new customer, had an eye exam and these were a new, first order for me". Irma: "Well, I don't see anything here and it looks like they were never ordered. I'm sorry. We have a lot of new people here and a lot going on so we missed this. I'll get these ordered now and they should be here in a week or two. I'll put a rush on the order." I told her to just cancel the order. That I have near 20/20 vision and I don't need to spend $200 for no reason. "Yeah, but don't you want to protect your eyes from blue light?", she asks. "No thank you. Please cancel the order and email me confirmation that this has been cancelled." Irma: "Fine." Me: "Do you have my email address?". Irma quickly reads my email address back to me and hangs up. As of 02/12, I still haven't seen a refund on my Amex nor did I ever get an email from Irma and Paradise Valley Eye Care Center. The ineptitude of this place is beyond comprehension. Avoid this place at all costs. Not only will they fumble your order, they will struggle to communicate with you and if, God forbid, you get Irma to assist you, she will do so reluctantly and pass the blame elsewhere while never taking care of your problem. I called back today and left my information seeking a refund and email that my order has been cancelled since they've held onto my $192 since January 4th and not delivered anything to me, nor have they issued a refund to my Amex. read more

Over the phone, my wife confirmed that they take her Medicare Advantage insurance. When we got there, she gave them her UHC Medicare Advantage Plan card. A few minutes later, she was called back to see the doctor. Upon check-out, we were told they don't take her health insurance and we had to pay $100. When I questioned why they told us over the phone that they took her insurance and then when we got there and presented her UHC card, why didn't they tell us then that they didn't take her insurance, they had no excuse other than to say the check-in person was a trainee and apologized for the misunderstanding. Dr. Rios is the best. If any of you have gas permeable lenses, you know they can be challenging to fit. But Dr. Rios never gave up on me. He fitted me with a very new product, that have given me the best vision, plus no dust can get in my eyes, which is great because there are many dusty days here in Arizona. I have been to Paradise Valley Eye Care before, 2 years ago. I wanted to get an eye exam. I asked what my insurance covered, as I used the same insurance when I was there before. They said they don't have a prescription on file for me, so they can't tell me what is covered, even though my last eye exam 2 years ago was there, and a prescription was generated. I talked with the manager Carmen, and she reiterated all I said before. I called Moon Valley Eye Clinic and they researched my insurance in minutes and told me what was covered and made me an eye appt for today. read more

This place takes forever. Awful, awful, awful, service. I hated my experience there. They took forever and the lady I had seemed to not know how a computer works. They also messed up my glasses. One lens was -4.5 instead of -1.5! What huge mistake that's obviously noticeable. When I called to tell them the girl who answered had the audacity to say "no it's right. You're a -4.5" without knowing my name?? It's actually comical looking back at that response. She finally connected me to the lady who inputted my information and she had written down the wrong number when making my glasses. I got not a single apology and they were so rude about a big mistake on THEIR end. I had to drive 30+ minutes yet again to pick up my new ones. They still do not feel correct after the fix and I have yet to wear them months later. This place wasted my time and my money. I hope no one else experiences this! Absolutely the worst run office I have ever had to deal with. The doctors are tremendous and take great care of their patients. HOWEVER, if you need contacts or glasses you may as well go elsewhere. Long before COVID came to town, my husband needed reading glasses. Went there, had the eye exam and found out he had a stigmatism, so he needed a prism in his lens. He ordered his glasses. Told a couple weeks. Couple weeks pass. No call. So HE had to call. "Oh it looks like "someone" forgot to place the order. We will do it now. A couple more weeks go by, no call. He calls. "We have the lenses, but "someone" sent us the wrong frames. Now the ones you wanted aren't available. Picked out new ones. When they arrive, 4 MONTHS later, it's wrong again. He just took the frames since he needed his glasses for work. Now it's my turn to deal with them. I needed new contacts. Had eye exam, ordered new contacts back in February. It is June 7th and no contacts. Never a call...never a call. We get that things happen. We get COVID. But what is inexcusable is the complete lack of communication. NEVER an outgoing call to us to update. Zero communication. NEVER an effort to be solution-oriented. Horrible, horrible customer service. Complete indifference by office staff. They could not care less if customers get their glasses or contacts. Save the frustration. Go elsewhere. read more

So I got an eye exam and selected frames. The Dr suggested I try Progressive lenses. I was told that if they didn't work out I would be able to get single vision replacement. What they didn't tell me was that I would not be refunded the out of pocket difference I paid for the more advanced and more expensive lenses. When asked I was told: 1) It is against their office policy to issue refunds and 2) The insurance would not allow it. Well 1) It was not explained when we were discussing my lens options 2) It was out of pocket, insurance should not be involved So basically this place ripped me off and refuses to make it right. Super friendly, sweet and most importantly she is genuine. She really cares about her patients. Dr. Campouris is honest and never tries to sell you on anything you don't really need. I leave there confident that she has only recommended or prescribed what is in my best interest. The office is very clean and the rest of the staff is wonderful. I hate that I have to change my rating after years of great experience. However after the past two years of debachery it would not be fair to the readers to leave a 5 star rating when it is no longer that business it once was. Last year my glasses were ordered, waited 3 weeks after quoted 2 only to pick them up and immediately KNEW the Perscription was not accurate. When I told the person who was dispensing them tht I couldn't see clearly out of them, she told me it will just take time to get used to them. (My script had barely changed. Why the big adjustment?) She did not see the need to go check the lenses against the Rx and told me if I continue to have problems in a week to come in and they will take a look. I ignorantly followed her instructions. I returned in a week and asked to be help by someone else. He immediately took the glasses back and checked them and returned to tell me they had made a mistake and put the wrong lenses in my frames. AND that there are supposed to be 3 checks for accuracy for this and all three had been skipped! So off they went back to the lab to be made again, assured there would be a rush put on them. Another 2 weeks (standards time, no rush I got my call they had arrived and accurate. Yay! 4 months later the got damaged and as their policy goes they will be under warranty during this time frame. I brought in what I could of the destroyed frames and was told it was not enough to honor the warranty! What I wasn't able to pick up enough pieces from the street after being run over to prove they were damaged??!! Humm But yet again this year when insurance would cover new lenses I went back because I do truly trust my Dr. Ordered my 2 pairs of needed glasses, quoted 2 weeks, got a call 10 days later confirming my billing and Rx info (which was wrong) and offered appologies for being late, getting the order sent off to lab, but "we will put a rush on them!" LOL! 3 weeks later I called and was told they had just come in and could come in anytime to pick them up. I went the next day to find out only one pair was ready, the other was "not correct". In the office it seemed that my bifocal lenses where correct in seeing the things within those distances. But.. once I got in my car to drive I could not read road signs, etc until right up on them and even to watch TV within 12 feet and read captions I see double. WRONG AGAIN!! I can now say 2021 will be my last year of being a customer of PV Optical... Sadly so. Started out so good and went so bad. A few very good employees but many complacent ones who would rather be somewhere else, anywhere else! I commend Eric for his efforts, hard work, care and time... He is a winner! This office used to be great until one of the doctors abruptly left leaving me (and I'm sure many others) stranded without a doctor. I've had an eye condition almost all of my adult life, therefore going to just any eye doctor is not an option. Once I found one, after three months of practically begging this office to send over my records, I had to sit in the lobby and get them myself. I've now had (medically necessary) contacts lenses in my eyes for 9 months, when they shouldn't be in my eyes longer than 6. This is so disappointing and unprofessional! I went in today with my dental magnification loupes that I use for work. I paid a pretty penny for them and the fall apart. They are from a different company (orascoptic). Screws constantly popping out and falling apart. They really took the time to find the correct size screws and make my life easier! I left very happy with my loupes all fixed up and cleaned. I had my eyeglasses ordered here last year. Unfortunately, the lenses were too thick and not the super-thin lenses I ordered. I brought it back to have them replace the lens, which they did. I went home and went to my former optometrist. She measured the lens and said that for both eyes (L and R), the grade was the same! (My left eye needs a higher grade than the right.) If I had not seen another optometrist, I would not have known this. So aside from putting in the wrong lens the first time, they also used the incorrect grade! Please be careful with the glasses you order from this shop. I would recommend getting your glasses made elsewhere. read more

Was taken back to sit in a different room to wait for the doctor to have many people taken before me. Was very frustrated to be there for almost 2 hours to not see the eye care doctor.
