Overall Pappas Burgers is pretty good. The food tastes great, the quality is high, the atmosphere is OK, slightly reminiscent of Little Pappasito's, and the prices are not bad. I'd rate my overall experience there as good. Below are the reasons. For taste, I'd give them a 4.5/5. The burgers are excellent, and the hot dogs are scrumptious. The only thing is that they could work on their fries. For quality, their burgers are probably some of the best quality you will find. A 4/5 seems appropriate here. I've eaten a lot of burgers, and I can tell the meat is good quality. As for the atmosphere, I'd give it a 3/5 just like most Pappas restaurants, it is kind of disturbing. It is not a circus like Pappasitos, but it is not exactly peaceful either. Finally, the prices, as stated above, are decent, 3.5/5. They are not particularly expensive or cheap, kind of like Pappasitos, but the difference is that here the quality of food is better. read more

So I got the Lucy Juicy Burger. It sure hit the spot. I actually only ate half the burger since it was so big. Don't go during lunch hours cuz it's super pack. Service was good and environment is loud. Lol. Definitely, it this place up if I am in the area. read more

I love burgers! I've tried a lot of them, near and far. I have been to Pappas Burger on various occasions and have always been satisfied. I will even say it is in my top 5 choices of burger places. The burgers has great quality meat, fresh trimmings, a great bun, and it is huge. You definitely will not go wrong with this burger. They also have decent huge salads. A favorite of mine is the Asian style salad. The only 2 things that I have a problem with are the french fries and the pricing. A burger meal which includes fries will set you back $15 and of course you have to add a drink and the meal quickly becomes $20. My top 3 burger choices have all been under $10. The french fries, for me, are the weakest part. They do serve you a lot of them but they are just there. I think if they worked on the french fries it would be an overall better deal. What really justifies the pricing though is the flavors, quality and the customer service. At every point of contact the waitstaff was very attentive, polite, and courteous. This is really rare especially considering how young they all seem to be. I really recommend this place for anyone that wants to try a great burger but be aware that it is a bit pricey. read more

My most recent experience with them started off horrible but ended great. I ordered My food online and my husband went and picked it up, I was super excited for my food ya know being five months pregnant and starving lol, once he got home I noticed they forgot my milkshake and I had a medium well burger even though I called to make sure they make the burger well and don't forget the shake. I called them and talked to Jenna and she went above and beyond so on top of the food being awesome they have the best customer service yet. read more

$100 for 5 burgers and a shake... ouch. Could have gone to Sonic and had a burger just as good. I saw the reviews for this burger joint so I brought my family all the way into Houston but was really let down. I haven't had to salt fries.. like ever, but I had to here. The patty itself was utterly bland and this is why I'm rating this place 3 stars. The reviews said "juicy" and "flavorful" but mine just tasted like meat; no seasoning in the least. It was actually unappetizing and I only had half the burger and brought it home for my dogs. I ordered the burger with the guacamole and it was equal parts patty and guacamole.. needless to say that's WAY too much guacamole (which was also pretty bland). I tasted my brother's bacon burger and the bacon was delicious; the meat was exactly the same as on mine: really bland. I actually felt guilty for dragging my family down here for such bland food. I had just gone to Red Robin a few days earlier and had their new burger with sriracha onion straws and aioli sauce and LOVED it. I was expecting even higher quality food here considering how much more expensive it is, but it really fell flat for me. I would feel guilty giving this place 2 stars, although I'm tempted just based on the quality of my food. However, the milkshakes were BOMB and the atmosphere was nice for a burger joint. I guess overall i'm just confused why this place is so expensive?? The burgers aren't anything special, or even that good at all, and it is not full service. I mean, try it out for yourself but I can say with full honesty that these burgers are bland. read more

Junk food fix ????? This is your place. High quality junk food or comfort food as we Texans say!

Okay, so I'm here to clear up some facts that people seem a bit sketchy on. I can understand your confusion, but please let me explain. I have worked for Pappas Burger for almost 8 months and let me say that I'm extremely impressed with this place. I was always told never to work where you love to eat, but I believe that place deserves 5 stars on many levels. Now to clear some things up. 1. Counter Ordering; I understand the concept is confusing but understand, it's only for your ease and timing. People note that they never have to wait for a table...it's because of the counter. We have an extremely high turn over rate, and if we constantly took the orders from the table, it would take much longer for you to get your food or be sat. The counter is there to help things move faster. We see over 1000 heads a day sometimes...as you can see, if it wasn't for the counter, you would have a hard time getting in the building, much less being sat. We review your order at the table to make sure everything is correct, and make any last minutes changes/additions you may need. This cuts down on mistakes. Understand you DO NOT have to use the counter unless we are extremely, line out the door, busy. If you want to order from the table, we will be more than happy to accommodate you. 2. Speed of food; This is the first time I've ever seen anyone complain of the food coming out too fast, but I can understand why you would think it's pre-cooked. I can assure you none of our food is pre-cooked, nor does it ever hit a warmer or heat lamp. I don't even think we own any of those. I can assure you that burger comes straight off the grill, on to your plate. It just may be cooking before you order it. We cook all of our burgers med-well (unless ordered differently). Because we have so many orders coming through, we just have a lot of patties cooking on the grill at one time. The burgers are then delivered on the bun and another burger takes it's place. That's why your burger comes out so fast. If you don't believe me, sit at the bar one time and you can actually watch your burger come off the grill. That burger meat comes straight from the steakhouse next door daily. All of our food is prepared fresh that morning. Even our buns, cookies, cakes, and pies are delivered from our own bakery. Seriously nothing is pre-cooked or left sitting somewhere and that is my word. 3. Unsatisfactory food; Understand you, as a customer, are the most important thing to us. I know that sounds like some cheesy sales line, but we are watched closely by our out standing managers to make sure we are taking care of you 100%. If you ever receive something that's not to your "tasty" standards...we will take it back (no questions asked) and do our beat to give you something back that is awesome. We want your Pappas Burger experience to be great. We LOVE our repeat customers and want to make sure you keep coming back. If you don't tell us something is wrong, then we have no way of correcting it. Please speak up. We encourage you too, and I'm only a server. 4. Fries; We try to find a happy median, but if you don't like them, try them extra crispy. Trust me. 5. Cost; Guys, this isn't Whataburger or McDonalds. These are gourmet burgers, and they are made to order. We also have items such as shrimp, ribs, and wings. Nothing is over $18.00. The prices aren't bad, but don't come here looking for a value menu. We have awesome deals going on through the week, come in and check them out. I hope this review has been helpful. If you had a poor experience before, please come in and let us know. Give us another chance to prove how good we really can be. Let us show you why our reputation proceeds us as one of great food, and great service. Before I was a server, this place was and still is my favorite place to eat. read more

Pappas Burgers is my favorite burger place in Houston. Our family went after church on Sunday. I love their set up and the way you put you order in, get your drink, and find your table. The server comes over to confirm your ordering ticket. They give you options of adding to or subtracting from your order. The service was awesome friendly staff. The manager came over to our table to speak with us. It was a treat. Now lets talk burger. I am in love. I ordered the Pappas Bacon Cheeseburger wuth sweet potatoe fries. I was greatly impressed with presentation. The meat was seasoned well it was juicy. The bun was soft. The veggies fresh. Sweet potatoe fries were good. The server made me one of the best Arnold Palmer. Oh wait I almost forgot, we also ordered buffalo wings. They were the bomb! Fried hard like I like them drenched in buffalo sauce with house made blue cheese and celery. Honestly, the price was a bit more than I would have liked to pay but it was well worth it. I will be back or will certainly have it delivered. Great job Pappas Burgers! read more

the pappas food empire never fails to deliver a great meal and pappas burger is no exception. you can't go wrong with any of the burger dishes here, my favorites would be the mushroom swiss and hickory, but you can also find some great non-burger dishes here as well. i've tried the chicken fried steak, which was perfectly breaded, not chewy at all as a lot of cfs often is, and had gobs of gravy all over it. the lemon pepper catfish filet is also excellent. service is great here, very fast and friendly staff. the home baked chocolate chip cookies are about as good as can be, a great way to finish a meal here. read more

as others have mentioned, asinine ordering system. no need to say anything more about it. the blue cheese burger, ordered medium rare, was drenched and swimming in a pool of grease. that wasn't very appetizing. i guess i shouldn't be complaining -- it is a burger, after all. just an exceptionally greasy one. but i felt like washing my face immediately after, and i did. it tasted good, though. the patty was substantial and to the kitchen's credit, it was actually cooked medium rare. it's not cheap at $10.45, but they give you a ton of food. the fries and onion rings are good. the waiter charged me $1 more for a half/half of fries and onion rings without telling me. tricky! lots of nice TV's on which to watch sports. i feel like my body's oozing grease now. think i'll hold off burgers for awhile.. read more

This place is on my list of least favorite burger joints I've ever visited. The food is fast food quality at best and should be priced as such. It's close to the Galleria mall, but it doesn't get that mall traffic. I think that's the only plus. It's very quiet and service is slow and almost nonexistent. I'm not sure why I had such high hopes about this place, but It was a huge let down :( I would definitely pass on Papas Burgers next time. read more

Brought my dad here for a Pre-Father's Day dinner... At first he was a bit hesitant since the turkey burgers are cooked with mushrooms inside. However, after one bite he fell in LOVE saying it was the best restaurant turkey burger he's ever had and even took one home to-go. My bacon cheeseburger was good as well, but didn't have as nearly as much flavor as the turkey burger. Our appetizer, mozzarella bites, and the shakes were good too. Service was great to say they were quite busy and parking was a bit tricky, but this place is absolutely worth it will definitely be returning! read more

I have been coming here for years and have yet to find a burger than can top this in Houston. Although some have come close none have yet to conqueror! Its located right off westhemier near the galleria, you walk up to register they ring you up then you wait to be seated. You get a waiter that reads the order back to you just to be sure. They also have plenty of TVS to watch the games on the weekend and ice cold beer. i have yet to have a bad experience here. The burgers come out big and juicy. Sorry I have only eaten the burgers here cant get past that. read more

Let me start off by saying that I used to be a waiter at the Pappas burger location in Fort Worth when I was a student at TCU so I may be a little biased, but I'm going to try and give my honest review seeing that the two locations (Houston and Fort Worth) are very different. First off, they have excellent burgers. And yes, they are made to order. One reviewer was saying that the beef wasn't of good quality. Well here is a little secret; they get their beef fresh daily from PB steakhouse next door (in FW we had to drive to Irving every day and get the beef from the PB steakhouse there) To the people that say their burgers came out "too fast" I can assure you that I never once saw precooked patties at the FW location and I seriously doubt that it happens at this place. If you have a hot grill and an already shaped patty, it doesn't take more than 10 mins. to cook on a flat skillet. Also, the other items on the menu are very good too. Great salads, excellent wings, and creative hot dogs. Heck their fried seafood is even pretty tasty so there is sure to be something to please everyone if you come with a group. And as others have said, killer milkshakes and unique fries (I like the thin ones here as opposed to those thick "Steak" fries they have at Red Robin). To address the other complaints, yes it is expensive for a burger joint. But what do you expect from a Pappas restaurant? They are all pricey! And at the end of the day Red Robin or Beck's aren't but a few bucks cheaper, if at all so its a moot point. At pappas you know that its going to be fresh and you're service is going to be excellent. The order at the counter thing is a little odd at first but I can assure you that the waiter is doing just as much as they would at a regular sit down restaurant other than making the inital contact. What it does is it frees that extra 10 mins of the intial greet/ get drinks/ take orders (3 or 4 trips for the server). But thats the wonderful thing, if you want "full" service just sit down and I'm sure the waiter would gladly take your order. What the FW location had been doing was counter orders at lunch then full service at night, not sure why the Houston location hasn't adopted that concept. All in all I would say this is one of the best burger places in Houston. The ambiance is much better than a Langford, Southwells, etc and the food is much better than a Becks. One more note: I'm a pretty regular sized dude and I still find their burgers waayyyy too big, heres a trick. You can order any of the burgers on the menu but as a "kids" size and its 5 oz's instead of 8. It also saves you a few bucks. read more

Late night eat stop. Fantastic find; thanks Yelp! Relaxed pub style environment, tasty eats, & friendly staff. The tortilla soup was a thick tomato based soup with a nice flavor. The turkey mushroom burger was nice and juice. Must get the sweet potato fries!!! read more

Came with a party of 10 and they were able to put a table together for us. Good service. A little pricey for burgers seeing as I paid $40 for two of them (including tip). I was late ordering my food so looking at everyone else's burger, I was thinking "Eh..this isn't even going to be worth the money I spent." However, I had the Blue Cheese Bacon Burger and it was delicious. Meat was seasoned up to restaurant standards, but it all came together really nicely. The fries could use some work, but *shoulder shrug* oh well, burger was still great. read more

Not sure what all the hype is, but met a client for lunch there yesterday and left disappointed, and I didn't even pick up the tab!! I ordered the traditional cheeseburger "medium", the food arrived rather quickly and the patty was well done and under seasoned. The buns were cold, , and there was an overwhelming amount of shredded lettuce. I've had better cheeseburgers at Whataburger for a fraction of the price...expected better from the Pappas chain, won't be back.... read more

I really love this place, nice burgers, some consider expensive but i say if you want cheap burger go to a fast food chain. Burgers are spot on, Lucy jucy is one of my favorites, people here is froendly, even if they are busy, there is always someone checking that you been help fast, they offer you a drink while you wait for a to go order and always with a smile. So you want a great burger with friendly servers, this is your spot. read more

Not really a fan of this place. I expected it to be like any of the other Pappa's restaurants where you're seated and served then and there. Instead, I found that we're supposed to order at the counter and don't pay yet, sit somewhere, and then a server comes to us and asks us additional questions on how we want our burger or if we want any additional items. After we get our food and have eaten it, then we get the bill. It was pretty weird. No offense, but it's kind of like, "seriously, are the people at the counter too incompetent to do all that stuff that they have to get servers to do the rest of the job?" It just really bothered me. And on top of that, the food was not of good value at all. The food, particularly the burgers, taste very similar to that of Whataburger's, Smashburger, etc. I personally just don't get the concept of going to a restaurant like this when you could easily get pretty much the same quality of food at a fast food restaurant for much cheaper. Or better yet, go to a local place like Tornado Burger or Burger Guys and you can probably get at least a slightly better quality burger for what's still less than Pappa's $10+ burgers. The counter service really isn't all that either. The cashiers speak to you as if you're stupid or something. The only thing I will commend Pappa's Burgers on is their fries, as it reminds me of the way Tornado Burger's fries used to be. read more

By far this is the BEST place in the greater Houston area to get a burger and shake. The burgers are huge and taste homemade. They also serve really good lemonade. They are really busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Sometimes you'll have to wait for a table to sit down, but the wait usually isn't very long. They have multiple tvs up on the wall, also have 2 big screen tvs in the restauarant, and usually always some type of sport playing. I usually tell them to cook my fries extra crispy and they are perfect, not too greasy. I have also tried their fried shrimp plate, which is served after 5pm, and it's very good as well. My husband and I will usually order a greek salad and split it as an appetizer before our burgers come out. read more

Chicken tenders, although listed under the appetizer section, are the way to go here. You'll get four plump, juicy, perfectly fried pieces of chicken - David commented that it looked like two chicken breasts. Served with fries, and for $1.40 you can add their awesome coleslaw, which is pleasantly unique, crunchy and creamy with a hint of what seems like blue cheese. The best cole slaw around. The tenders come with a just-ok honey mustard dressing, but you can ask for ranch, or presumably bbq sauce. For $10.45 you get a much nicer meal IMHO than their more expensive chicken fried chicken. Minus one star for the yelp "special offer available" which says they always have specials on their website. There are no specials. Good food though. read more

My first visit to Pappas Burger worked out quite well. Everything that needs to be said has so I will just contribute my stars at this time.

The blue cheese burger with extra blue, cooked medium rare was phenominal. As each cheesy, moist flavor packed bite traveled through my pallet, I searched my mind for a better blue cheese burger anywhere. By the end of my meal, my gut was as full as my joy. Even their cat fish was great, not to mention their fries and onion rings. I hate to hand out 5 stars, but this blue cheese burger was the best I have ever had. As far as the calories go, it was worth every last one of them and I will gladly sit my butt on my bike for 2 hrs to burn them off. read more

The patties are very juicy and are seasoned decently. The burgers are as big as your head and it's glorious

I wanted to give this place 4 stars because of how pricey the burgers are, averaging for around $15 a burger, NOT including fries or a drink. Whoa. But that's because someone I know who worked at Pappa's steakhouse said that they use the meat they didn't use that day from the steakhouse to make burgers out of, which I think is pretty cool - no wasting food AND quality meat! This place gets 5 stars because of great food and service was impeccable! Ordered the peppercorn ranch and split it with my bf, with sweet potato fries and an Oreo milkshake. I don't know how it was for him, but it was the perfect amount of food for me! Usually eating a full meal like that with a full burger would make me feel too full. Our server Reece, (for shortness and simplicity? was Arizbeth on receipt) was amazing. Asked if it was out first time there and I guess she told her supervisor or manager and she also came to our table and welcomed us. They were super friendly. They even put the the milkshake on the house and gave us a complimentary cookie(wasn't small either!) which really surprised us! Will definitely come back! read more
