Are you kidding me? This is the worst BBQ I've ever had. We ordered a lot of food and it was all bad. The brisket was mush, barely a smoke ring. The chicken was undercooked, we threw it away. The sausage was okay, but the ribs all still had the membrane on them and they were old. Like days old. The beans they gave us as a side were cold, undercooked, and mostly brown sugar. Way too sweet. The BBQ sauce was horrible. It was as if they let it sit in a crock pot all day until it was bitter. It tasted burnt. I feel like we just set money on fire. We will never go back. How they survive in Texas is baffling. Update... After posting my review I was contacted by Cris Reed who is their promotions manager. Cris asked for my contact info stating they would send us some gift cards and that they would work with the GM to do everything to make things right in the future. It's been about two months now. No mail correspondence, no follow up. They can't even make things right at a corporate level. Sad. read more

This is one of our favorite take out dinners. They make a half barbecued chicken dinner, which is perfect for two people. It's very moist and has the perfect charcoaled/barbecue flavor. They have a nice assortment of sides for those on a Keto diet. Their green beans are yummy and plenty for two also. Then, we add their wonderful very fresh tossed salad. We always have left overs! I ordered a beef plate extra lean. I was informed they are no longer giving the customers the opportunity to order your food that you pay extremely well for the way you like it. It's take it the way they cut it or leave. I chose to leave it. When you no longer offer the customer what they want your business will fail! it's pure arrogance and dumb ass decisions that businesses fail. I've spent thousands of dollars Pappas Corporation over the years as a pharmaceutical rep. The main reason why is the their portions have always been a bargain. Not so anymore with their baked potatoes. They charge $13, and that potato could fit in the palm of your hand. When you walk up, they have these massive baked potatoes on display. However, when the Food Service guy pulls one out of the container, it might be 5 in Long, probably four. This surprises me, because potatoes are dirt cheap. I used to be about $9 and there's no way a normal human could eat the whole thing. For the first time ever, I walked out of Papa's hungry oh, and that's after spending over $20. We've been going to Pappas for over 15 years, always loving it. Since they shut down for covid and now reopened, something has happened to the portions. Went 2 weeks ago, the hubby ordered a sliced brisket sandwich. Normally it has more meat than you can eat. It barely had any meat on it. He asked for more meat and they refused. Decided to try again 2 weeks later. We ordered a 2 meat plate. The brisket was thin and about 4 pieces. Really disappointing. read more

Craving barbecue so I stopped here on my way home on the feeder road to get 2 combo platters to go. Opted to go inside instead of the drive thru. Lady at counter/register friendly, professional and packed everything perfect. My combo meal consisted of sausage and brisket with beans, coleslaw and an extra side of mac and cheese. The only aspect of my meal that was good was the coleslaw. It was very fresh, darker green and shredded nicely. Mac and cheese had large shells with like a velveeta cheese on it, not a true cheddar like the lady said. Brisket was like mushy half chipped brisket swimming in so so bbq sauce and the rest was unremarkable flavorless slices. Sausage had chunky and large slices which lacked real flavor also. Got hubby beef ribs and sausage with bean and spicy rice sides. Ribs had little meat and he didn't like anything else except my coleslaw. Won't be coming back. Will try Dickie's BBQ on the other end of The Woodlands next time I'm craving BBQ locally. read more

Went for the first time and bought the 3 beef plate. Comes with sausage, brisket and a rib. I couldn't believe how small the portions were for $20. The rib was so dry, and I got 4 piece of sausage that were an inch long and the brisket wasn't even enough to cover a slice of bread. I did comment on the serving size it was unbelievable. I've been to the location on Hafer Rd and 1960 and had much bigger portions and delicious meat. I won't be going back. read more

I've been eating here ever since Pappa's bought this location from Luther's. I've been happy with them BUT something has changed. I had their chopped BBQ brisket po-boy but I would have been better off with a McRib. I expected the beef to be chopped (while I waited) then put on the bun with some sauce. Instead I got a puddle of stringy meat that had been cooking in BBQ sauce for days... stringy, tasteless and unpleasant. The sandwich was so soaked with sauce that it was impossible to eat and once I did take a bite, I wished I hadn't. Before this encounter, I've had a few recent problems with the food. Obviously old-beyond-their-useful-life side dishes, cold ribs, etc. but now they seem to have hit bottom. There's too much competition with BBQ now in this area to put out bad food and expect people to come. I won't be back. read more

Pretty standard BBQ joint: white bread, beer (no draft) and BBQ... The beef ribs are delicious, you really don't need to order the jumbo platter, it's a ton of food, sides are pretty tasteless and the portions are pretty runty. So, long story short: go for the meat, just don't expect much more than that, overall had a good time, and good ribs! read more

While it was nice to see the old Luther's decor, I was ready to eat some barbeque.... The reason for the low score wasn't because of their food (their BBQ was better than some and not as good as others), what makes a good BBQ meal for me is the sauce. First off, the parking is horrible. It's a safety issue having to cross the parking lot right where the I45 access ramp is. When I walk in to place the order, there are 2 people standing behind the counter. Neither said "hi", so I said that I wanted to order. While I was telling the guy what I wanted, he just stared at me - no motion - it was like he was on drugs. I was ordering chopped brisket sandwiches when the lady asked me to give her my menu. What? I'm still ordering - then a BBQ sandwich shows up in front of me and the meat cutter guy is slicing brisket. I asked the lady what the BBQ sandwich was for and she asked if I had ordered it. Then, she puts 2 sliced brisket sandwiches in front of me - I said that I had asked for chopped sandwiches. She handed the 2 sandwiches back to the meat cutter guy, and he gave ME a look! Then, the lady asks if I still wanted the BBQ sandwich. I told her that I never ordered it! Meanwhile, the guy is just staring. We left. First off - the food was not bad. I had my wife and 4 kids with me so we did buy a lot of food. The ribs were a bit tough and the fries were all crushed. But otherwise - not bad at all! But the service was just bad - it seems to be an ongoing trend with this place, but I wanted to give it a chance. We got there and gave our order - they took the order, but took down the info all wrong. They weren't helping anyone else either which was the hard part. If the guy taking the order would just have wrote down the food we asked for - he would be okay! I love barbecue - but this place was just lacking in so many ways. I would very highly recommend going to another place until the reviews get better. We came to Pappas BBQ after a visit to Texas Children's Hospital. Donald, the man who was taking our order was so rude and was rushing us to tell him what we wanted. There was no one behind us in line and we already knew what we wanted he was just being rude and rushing us. I specifically asked for lean meat and when I told the cashier who was an older woman that they got my order wrong she snatched the plate. I love Pappas BBQ, but I'll definitely not visit this location anymore. I have not been here since May, so maybe things have changed but when we were here there was no issues with the BBQ or service. We had the turkey, brisket and ribs. All were delicious, generous in portions in both meat and sides. I also have had the baked potato here and it was excellent. I love a good baked potato! This is usually a great place to get a BBQ sandwich on the go but not yesterday. I paid $10 for a sliced brisket sandwich and fries only to get one full of fat! Once I pull all the meat off the fat it only covered half a bun. If I ever go back I guess I will check the meat before I drive off.
