We decided to give this place a try and I'm glad we did. The draw was the variety of the menu, the live music and the welcoming from The staff. We decided to try some of the appetizers. We ordered some pretzel sticks and fries. We also tried their icees and sodas. The icees were so good and refreshing. The sodas were huge and tasted amazing. Sorry but it your drinks aren't good, it's a total buzz kill for us, hahah. The everything came out to our table quickly and hot. Nothing worse than cold fries. The pretzels were a good size and super fresh. The fries were hot and so good. We left not a piece or scrap. The staff were so kind and friendly. They offered us refills on everything and made the experience wonderful. We loved the live music and the restaurant was super cute with their decorations. It is Sunday morning 11:45. Passing by in Old Town Spring we decided to give it finally a try. Astonishingly only two tables outside are taken the rest is free. A sign is stating that food need to be ordered inside. Inside also all tables are empty! A fully (de) motivated waitress is leaning at the register and eying us shortly before she stated in the most unfriendly way being possible " The (menu) cards are at the wall. The loose caboose is a staple restaurant in old town spring. You can get southern food and beer for a cheap price and good quality. You can order anything from hot dogs to turkey legs. Etc. Service was fast. You order at the indoor counter, and they delivered the food directly to our table. There is seating indoor and outdoor. There is around 20 people worth of seating inside where it is also AC. And, there are around 20 people worth of seating outdoors. Outdoors they also had live music playing. I saw this place had gumbo and decided one bowl couldn't hurt. One thing about the interior is that there is a lot and I mean a lot of decor inside. If you are person who gets overstimulated, you may want to choose to eat your meal outside on the patio benches which are covered and nice to sit at when the weather is good. I just ordered the gumbo to eat there. They told me it would be spicy-I tasted just a slight amount when I finished the bowl. The one thing I wish they would have said when they brought it out was that it was piping hot. I did a precursory blow but that wasn't enough and I actually burned my tongue on the first spoonful. The gumbo rue wasn't as thick as I would have liked and like I said it wasn't spicy or had any other distinguishing flavors. All in all I'd return to try something else on the menu in case they have another dish that they feel is their speciality. read more

The train that could brought on the most delicious and juiciest hamburger! Did you see the size of that burger in my photos? I almost said I ordered a single, not a double. But I got all the toppings: the crispy bacon, gooey cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and onions. One bite and the cheese would stretch with the mushrooms, bacon, and onion, holding on for dear life from your mouth to the burger as you pulled away. I had no shame eating this burger in public; a little here and there was dropping, but I just swooped it up and kept eating. Y'all, it was really a massive burger!! Now, for my side, I added the Cajun fries, and many times, I say Cajun, but regular fries magically appear. Well, not here; this was really the first time that seasoning Cajun fries appeared, and they were crispy with a nice crunch! Not a hard french fry at all, one with a nice texture and crunch. I enjoyed myself here, talking to a guy, I think, who was part of the team at Loose Caboose. He was military and shared some history with me, and the guy out front was playing some nice guitar. We decided to try this place out after doing a quick google search.. we decided to give it a shot... pretty disappointed with the customer service at this establishment... which I would ignore if the food was exceptional.. but this place just wasn't it.. We weren't greeted, you order at the front even if you are dining in.. which is fine if you explain to your customers upon arrival to your restaurant. That didn't happen.. wasn't hard to figure out but as we put in our order the cashier lady was just plain rude. She barely said four words.. "what else?" And "Any drinks?" There weren't very many people out today which was nice.. but even more reason to be kind and courteous to your customers.. When we got our food she realized there was a ketchup missing and before I could ask for an extra plate to feed my son.. she had already left.. when I politely asked for an extra basket.. she left without a word... I thanked her and she just walked away. Just not friendly at all. Mind you the kitchen was maybe 7 steps away from our table.. Anyways now for the food... We tried the pretzels.. they were okay but fried? Not described on the menu. I had a grilled chicken loaded potato and it didn't look appealing, but I was hungry. My daughter said the chicken nuggets were good.. they are a decent size.. my Oldest also had the pulled pork fries with cheese.. the meat was very dry.. For the price of the food and terrible customer service...was not worth it at all... I won't be back.. and I don't know how they are in business if they treat everyone as rude. After a long hike and paddle boarding that morning, we were wanting some food, really any food. We wandered into Old Town Spring on our way home, and spotted The Loose Caboose. Parking is a bity tricky, but there is a grassy yard where it's okay to park and not get towed. Just read the signs carefully. We both opted for messy homemade burgers and fries with a soft drink. Between us we had the Butt-Burner Burger and the Locomotive Guac-Burger. The Butt-Burner Burger had a 1/2 pound of beef with pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, jalapenos, and barbecue sauce with a jalapeno bun was what my husband opted for. I can't handle that kind of spice, so I opted for the Locomotive Guac-Burger, which also had a 1/2 pound of meat with guacamole, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a regular bun. I omitted the onions and bacon. They were quick in the service, but while we waited in an unpretentious setting, we enjoyed the live music in Old Town Spring. We sat outside near giant fans, and there was even a sink with soap and paper towels to ensure your hands were clean before you ate. The restaurant's popularity is not surprising. The live music (recently Duaine Hatfield) is impressive and the menu items include fun county fair foods such as funnel cake, deep fried Oreos, Cheesecake and more. Beyond the deep-fried madness, they serve good BBQ and a long list of corn dogs (more tasty fried stuff). I'll try their brisket nachos on my next visit. In addition to everything else, the drink list is also noteworthy. They pour my favorite and hard-to-find local beer (ZiegenBock Amber) on draft and I can't get enough. Five stars. read more

Once you enter to the right ahead you will find the counter where you order and pay in advance. Once you order you receive a number to which they will bring your order when ready. The menu really just seems like a lot of fast food - in true fast food fashion I ordered one of the 'train wreck snacks.' 6 Mozzarella Sticks - $5.95 I was tempte dby the sampler platters but didn't feel like spending 13-14 bucks on a bunch of fried things. They were ... fine - possibly a little underseasoned. Not really the best mozzarella sticks I've tried but it's hard no mess up mozzarella sticks. Personally I prefer the ones with pizza dough crust. I'm not sure how they made it underseasoned since cheese is usually very salty. There are also strawberry and regular margaritas (made with wine) for sale. The alcohol tasted cheap and gasoline-like but they were strong. They have an array of board games in varying degrees of wholeness. I say yes and a diet coke and a lemonade for you, she hears us and says ok so 2 corn dogs, I say no just 1, she says with an attitude well yall are both saying corndog. Rude AF. Then a young guy brings me my corndog and tells me to swap out the to go packet of mustard instead of using the mustard on the table so that I don't take their basket that the food came in.
