    Crawfish

Crawfish is the Best in Texas! Weekends only till Mother's Day. Pulled pork or brisket nachos are also great and burgers. Champagne Margaritas will change your life Outside covered patio is beautiful.

Huge outdoor patio - The image shows an outdoor patio at The Loose Caboose with tables, patrons, and a stage for live music, under a wooden roof.

Meh Tourist Trap. Nachos rival whatever you've had at a high school football game. But you got 'em fast! Service is good, I guess, never saw them during the 10 minutes it took to find a sign "Please order Inside." Ambience is wonderful. Suggest BYOB, and a picnic. I'd be astonished if anyone working here noticed you're not ordering anything.

The loose caboose is a staple restaurant in old town spring. You can get southern food and beer for a cheap price and good quality. You can order anything from hot dogs to turkey legs. Etc. Service was fast. You order at the indoor counter, and they delivered the food directly to our table. There is seating indoor and outdoor. There is around 20 people worth of seating inside where it is also AC. And, there are around 20 people worth of seating outdoors. Outdoors they also had live music playing. The surrounding town of old town spring is gorgeous and super homey. You can just sit outside and watch all the people walking around the stores.

I saw this place had gumbo and decided one bowl couldn't hurt. One thing about the interior is that there is a lot and I mean a lot of decor inside. If you are person who gets overstimulated, you may want to choose to eat your meal outside on the patio benches which are covered and nice to sit at when the weather is good. I just ordered the gumbo to eat there. They told me it would be spicy-I tasted just a slight amount when I finished the bowl. The one thing I wish they would have said when they brought it out was that it was piping hot. I did a precursory blow but that wasn't enough and I actually burned my tongue on the first spoonful. The gumbo rue wasn't as thick as I would have liked and like I said it wasn't spicy or had any other distinguishing flavors. All in all I'd return to try something else on the menu in case they have another dish that they feel is their speciality.

    3lbs of crawfish!!!

Cute little restaurant with a caboose on the outside, plenty of outdoor seating, nice attentive staff, crawfish was good, nice little place to eat in Spring, Texas

The menu includes barbecue sandwiches, burgers, and smoked meats, with options like brisket, pulled pork, and hot dogs, along with sides and drinks.

The train that could brought on the most delicious and juiciest hamburger! Did you see the size of that burger in my photos? I almost said I ordered a single, not a double. But I got all the toppings: the crispy bacon, gooey cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and onions. One bite and the cheese would stretch with the mushrooms, bacon, and onion, holding on for dear life from your mouth to the burger as you pulled away. I had no shame eating this burger in public; a little here and there was dropping, but I just swooped it up and kept eating. Y'all, it was really a massive burger!! Now, for my side, I added the Cajun fries, and many times, I say Cajun, but regular fries magically appear. Well, not here; this was really the first time that seasoning Cajun fries appeared, and they were crispy with a nice crunch! Not a hard french fry at all, one with a nice texture and crunch. I enjoyed myself here, talking to a guy, I think, who was part of the team at Loose Caboose. He was military and shared some history with me, and the guy out front was playing some nice guitar. But I had to move on a little early. A big family came in, and I offered to give them my table so they could sit together and enjoy the place as much as I did. I'll be back soon!

First off, they are dog friendly which is huge when you have a puppy you are working on socializing. They have water bowls for their 4-legged visitors. I had the KC dog which is basically an amazing Ruben on a hot dog - Loved it. We also tried the fries, cheese sticks and my husband got a really meaty sandwich (sorry don't remember which), all were very good! Prices are very reasonable even if you have a few beers. Location is perfect, close to everything, tons of people watching. Service is fast and friendly. Might be our new Sunday Funday hangout!

Great atmosphere and service. We had several things from the menu and all of our choices were great! We will definitely be back.

After a long hike and paddle boarding that morning, we were wanting some food, really any food. We wandered into Old Town Spring on our way home, and spotted The Loose Caboose. Parking is a bity tricky, but there is a grassy yard where it's okay to park and not get towed. Just read the signs carefully. We both opted for messy homemade burgers and fries with a soft drink. Between us we had the Butt-Burner Burger and the Locomotive Guac-Burger. The Butt-Burner Burger had a 1/2 pound of beef with pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, jalapenos, and barbecue sauce with a jalapeno bun was what my husband opted for. I can't handle that kind of spice, so I opted for the Locomotive Guac-Burger, which also had a 1/2 pound of meat with guacamole, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a regular bun. I omitted the onions and bacon. They were quick in the service, but while we waited in an unpretentious setting, we enjoyed the live music in Old Town Spring. We sat outside near giant fans, and there was even a sink with soap and paper towels to ensure your hands were clean before you ate. It wasn't crowded, but people were consistently coming and taking a seat. It was a popular place and glad we found it! Great place to throw on a feed-bag.

Didn't try the food, but the beer prices are unbelievably good, $4.75 for a draft beer: amazing! Waitress was super nice, patrons are friendly, you're near a bunch of music and antique shops. Great spot for this area. The beer selection is actually pretty decent, the beer is cold, and it's a tremendous environment. Awesome place all around!

Among the fun shops and restaurants in Old Town Spring, The Loose Caboose is definitely one of my favorites. Beyond the great name, this place is extremely well run and the atmosphere is incredible. The restaurant's popularity is not surprising. The live music (recently Duaine Hatfield) is impressive and the menu items include fun county fair foods such as funnel cake, deep fried Oreos, Cheesecake and more. Beyond the deep-fried madness, they serve good BBQ and a long list of corn dogs (more tasty fried stuff). I'll try their brisket nachos on my next visit. In addition to everything else, the drink list is also noteworthy. They pour my favorite and hard-to-find local beer (ZiegenBock Amber) on draft and I can't get enough. Five stars.

Yes Yes Yes!! Great place to hang out on a nice day! Cute train car that functions as a dining room and makes super cute photos!! Drinks are cold and the live music was great!! Patio was awesome to hang out and have a cold drink and drink and enjoy my company!! Definitely going back for lunch or appetizers!!

It's noted on the menu that is must be served medium rare, no exceptions - that's my preferred temperature anyway, so it was perfect for me. It was indeed juicy and tender. The cajun fries were a nice pairing. We enjoyed our experience overall. Was it a top notch, amazing burger? I wouldn't go that far, but it did its job and I'm happy we came and tried it out.

At least not enjoy spending it. But with prices these days getting way out of hand what can you do. I got the rattlesnake because I saw it touted as their award winning burger. Not sure from where the award came. But this and their trash can tacos had the emblem next to it. You also get a veggie pack with your to-go burger which has chopped lettuce, pickles, raw onions and 2 slices of tomatoes. That's nice so you don't have to put on the required latex gloves to use their veggie bar to get these yourselves. It's in a separate bag. I thought this was the buger at first and was secretly getting a bit concerned when I saw the cook toss it onto the counter like a bean bag. The cashier was super nice. He offered me water as I waited. They had another guy working in the back cooking the food. You also get a thimble of ketchup in your Togo bag along with a packet of mustard and mayo. The bun was a little burnt. And I couldn't taste any of the mixed in jalapeños. Also I kinda wish they had whole lettuce rather than chopped just because it kept falling out of the burger. But other than these issues the burger was pretty tasty. Definitely not a McDonald's burger like one person posted. But also not the best burger ever as many other posters swear by. Definitely glad I went. But don't know if I'd be willing to spend another $20 on one of their Burgers either. They're closed on Sundays according to Google maps which is old school nice to see.

A quick Google search brought this place up first with 4.9 stars, which is practically unheard of these days, so we decided to try it. Wow. What a meal. We started with the onion ring basket and a half order of beer bread. The onion rings were fantastic--huge, thick-cut rings with a wonderfully seasoned batter that actually had flavor instead of tasting flat or bland. Served piping hot, which matters to me because I like my food HOT. The ranch dressing was a great addition, too. The beer bread was decent. You could definitely taste the beer, but it wasn't the best loaf I've ever had. Mom, Mark, and I all ordered the grilled ribeye steak sandwich. I'm the only one who got it as designed on the menu. I originally expected more of a slab-of-steak sandwich, but it was actually closer to a Philly cheesesteak style sandwich, which honestly I prefer. Mom and Mark skipped the peppers, onions, garlic aioli, and pepper jack cheese in favor of lettuce, tomato, and mayo instead. Our waiter, Evan, was wonderful! He was friendly, attentive, accommodating, and clearly proud of the restaurant. He even offered to tell us the history of the building and restaurant, which added so much to the experience. The story is also printed on the back of the menu, and it's definitely worth reading. Evan mentioned he's only been there a few months, but he is absolutely an asset to the restaurant as a server. My brother Mark is blind and autistic, and it's honestly not often a server addresses him directly. They usually look to mom or me and ask, "What does he want?," but Evan asked Mark directly. Kudos to him. We had to finish the meal with the historical whiskey chocolate cake, and I'm glad we did. It's served warm with whipped cream on the side, caramel sauce drizzled across the plate, and pecans on top. Absolutely delicious and huge! There were four of us who shared it, and it was more than enough for each of us. Also worth mentioning: the sweet potato fries are an extra $4 but absolutely worth it. These are NOT frozen Ore-Ida fries dumped from a bag. They're clearly fresh cut and homemade, and they were delicious. For nearly two o'clock in the afternoon, the place was packed--at least three-quarters full--and the entire atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Everyone we encountered was friendly. I live in Katy, so Old Town Spring is definitely not nearby for me, but I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in the area or just passing through. It's easy to see why people love it.
