Anytime I travel through the Houston airport. I try to hit Pappadeaux's and luckily, I had just enough time to stop through one of my favorite airport restaurants and just restaurants of all time. This visit didn't disappoint. It was midday in the airport and so it was fairly busy, and I was a bit worried that there would be a wait that would prevent me from making my connection which I only had about an hour to make. But once I arrived at the restaurant and took the elevator upstairs, I was immediately seated at the bar and was eating food within 15 minutes of arriving. And as always, Pappadeaux's does not disappoint. Everything was fresh. The Poboy bread was authentic, soft and crusty just like I like it and the Greek salad is a meal in of itself. Now this is definitely a bit more expensive than your typical layover lunch but well worth it and I don't know if you will find better white napkin Service in an airport restaurant then they do at Pappadeaux's. Can't say enough about this spot. read more

This Pappadeaux Seafood location is actually INSIDE THE AIRPORT, which means that you can only eat there if you have checked-in inside the airport and have gone through airport security clearance. This should have been clearly stated (as a warning) on this Pappadeaux location's website, as well as on the main Pappadeaux website that helps you to find locations near you. But, Pappadeaux failed us by having no such warning anywhere, and instead had a map and directions to this restaurant as if it were any of the chain's other, normal restaurants. This location shouldn't even count as a Pappadeaux, since it is basically just a "food court" eatery. This mischaracterization of this location (on the Pappadeaux websites) ruined our plans to meet our friends from out of town for dinner. Neither of us could even find this "Pappadeaux" location, and had to stop and ask people working around there where it was, which was then that we learned (to our dismay) that it was actually inside the airport, so we couldn't eat there. So, for our "Plan B" that we made on the spur of the moment (thanks to poor communication from Pappadeaux) resulted in us going to a different restaurant to eat. (And that restaurant ended up being much better than Pappadeaux anyway. This whole awful experience has lowered my opinion of Pappadeaux. We used to eat at several of their normal restaurant locations, but after this ordeal, we now never want to eat at a Pappadeaux ever again. read more

Can't pass up the chance to hit up Pappadeauxs, especially when you've got time to waste in the airport. Got sat right away and Jessica took great care of us. Got the Wild caught snapper and crab and shrimp and crawfish fondeaux. Absolutely delicious. Same consistency as other restaurants which makes this a staple. Decor was similar as well with the refined old school feel. read more

Wow! Pappadeaux has got to be the best airplane food I've ever had! Located in Terminal E, near gates E3 and E4, you take the stairs or elevator to the second floor and the restaurant has a bar and plenty of indoor seating. We had Shay as our server and she was outstanding: so friendly & attentive! I ordered the trout with crab & brown butter and it was some of the best cooked fish I've ever had. Normally, I'm partial to sushi, but this was excellent fish! It came with a side of green beans that complimented the meal well. I also tried some of my husband's crawfish platter (fried and étouffée) and it was also outstanding! The saying, everything's bigger in Texas is true since the portion sizes were huge and none of us could finish our meals. read more

What can i say about Pappadeaux? If I am in a Pappadeaux Restaurant, there is a 99% chance I am stopping by and will most likely overeat. Their gumbo is so delicious, my mouth waters when i think about it. Ive ordered multiple servings in previous visits because it is so good. Even in the Houston airport it is delicious. The atmosphere is pretty cool and the service is always great. Both could be trash, and I would still give it 5 stars for that food. I recommend the gumbo. Last visit i had the crawfish platter, which was plenty good, but the Étouffée is definitely the bomb. The platter was so much food they really should give away a T-shirt if you can finish it. read more

If ever at IAH airport this is the spot to grab a bite! Upon checking in they asked what time my flight departed to ensure my dining experience could be accommodated. There is also meal prep times on the menu so customers can know what to expect. Love this! The decor and dining area weee very clean and classy. It did not feel like an airport at all, rather a nice dining establishment. The service as well was excellent! Staff was attentive and prompt with service without jeopardized the quality. Their Halibut was delicious and took a while to prepare but worth it. A MUST HAVE is the CRAB CAKE! So fresh and stole the show! If you are looking for a nice dining experience at the airport this is the spot to be! read more

Stopped by Pappadeaux at Houston Intercontinental Airport and sat at the bar area (open seating). The vibe was really nice low lighting, dark furniture, and old school Motown playing in the background. Definitely a cool, relaxed atmosphere, especially for an airport spot. I was seated right away and greeted quickly. I ordered the crawfish étouffée and added a side of catfish. The catfish was really good, seasoned well, crispy, and came with tartar sauce and ketchup. The étouffée was a solid portion with plenty of crawfish and rice. I do think it could've used a little more seasoning, but still a good dish overall. Only downside was the service after ordering, it was a bit hard to get my waitress's attention, and I had to wait to order a coke. Overall, a good experience and I would recommend if you're passing through the airport. read more

Food was a bit heavy for me for airport food but that's the path we chose that night. Service was subpar that day but understandably given the 20 person party we were rivaled against. Crawfish was surprisingly tasty. Fried crawfish paired well with the tartar sauce. Mom's salmon and shrimp plate was the center of attention - umami rich base, fresh shrimp, scallop, and salmon. Would order again - our family kept picking at her plate. Ambiance was on brand with a southern feel like we were on the docks of a Louisiana lagoon. read more

I never write a review, but in this case, I thought I should because this has been one of the most consistent chains we visit. The quality of food has gone down, lack of that Pappadeaux's seasoning was very noticeable. With the new handheld ordering POS system, you don't have much wiggle room for meal changes. There is usually a wait on a Saturday between 5-7 pm, not last night. Maybe their lack of attention to details is catching on. As a New Orleanian transplant for 16 years, I will not return to what was my go-to restaurant for good quality high priced seafood. The one saving Grace was our server, LESLIE! She did an amazing job! Darin G. read more

I got a little teary eyed when I saw the sign for Pappadeaux in Terminal E of the Houston Bush International Airport. Had to stop for lunch. It's two stories above the gates by E4. Small space. Service was great in the bar area. Food was quick and delicious! The portions are generous. The crawfish etouffee was slightly over salted but otherwise everything was super yummy! Pricey but it is the airport. At any rate, take my money cause I'm never going to pass up an opportunity to eat at a Pappadeaux! read more

If you're in the Houston airport come here. Three cheers for Mariah who is so attentive and sweet. She made great drink recommendations and let me order off the menu a yummy salmon steaks it's broccolini - just what the doctors ordered. Beautiful restaurant and fun music that isn't too loud so you can carry a conversation. The hostess let me go to a booth with an outlet to charge my devices and let me stay without hassle after I was done. Staff is so happy and friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back. read more

Get the Dirty Rice. The server said my meal comes with spinach but I chose the Dirty Rice. The fish was flaky and juicy. The 4 shrimp had a nice char taste. I wish I had more scallops, just 1. The fresh squeezed lemonade was sweet and tart. Ambiance has an old classic bar feel. I sat at the bar which is "U" shaped. It was quiet on a Sunday evening. Love Pappadeaux! Was leaving Houston and I had a long layover. I usually love to visit the restaurant when I'm in town but unfortunately has no time so I was super excited to try this location in the airport. Took the train over and was promptly sat when I entered. The menu is pretty extensive but I ordered the chicken and shrimp with French fries when a side of the dirty rice. Portions were huge and delicious. I was able to take some home back with me when I was boarding my plan. Even though it's in the airport, the restaurant has a family feel to it. I really enjoyed my visit and hope to come back! read more

Food was top tier . Service amazing . And ambiance is perfect. I had the shrimp and grits. It's my ultimate favorite!

A real restaurant in the Houston Airport. This was a perfect spot for us to grab dinner during a 3 hour layover. Dinner portion was large so we shared one dinner plus a soup (Seafood Gumbo) and salad. Our waiter was great. We asked what type of lettuce was in the house salad and she confirmed it had iceberg. She offered to get us the Caesar salad lettuce (romaine) with the house salad toppings. Salad was big and perfectly sized to share. The Seafood Gumbo was on the smaller side but that was fine since we were sharing the large dinner plate. Restaurant is decorated like a fine restaurant was dark wood and nautical stuff. Great find. read more

Traveling home from the Philippines, we had a 5-hour layover in Houston. My daughter and I decided to have dinner at Papadeaux. The place is huge, tucked in the back of Concourse E. It was a little mellow at 4:30 pm. We each ordered the Redfish Pontchartrain while Houston had the Crab Mac n Cheese. The pontchartrain was delicious! The redfish was seasoned and cooked perfectly and it paired nicely with the dirty rice! Service was quick and our server was attentive. read more

had to try this place myself since I've never seen a restaurant with higher ratings than pappadeaux. I was in terminal C so it was about a 10 minute walk to terminal E. Completely worth it. I enjoyed the food so much I'm already planning the next time I come back. Service was quick and the servers were extremely nice. The restaurant is on the second floor and you get a nice view of the terminal lol. I ordered the grilled snapper topped with crab and grilled shrimp with a side honey glazed carrots. The snapper was very flavorful and buttery. The seafood and andouille gumbo was my favorite. Every bite just kept getting better and better. I can't wait to come back again! read more

First of all, I love pappadeaux's. I always go to it at least once if not twice whenever in Houston or Dallas However, it's clear when i order the catfish sandwhich the bread is softer and much better in Dallas area. And the way it is prepared in Dallas area is better (especially the airport since that's where i get it the most). Pappadeux's should make this happen in Houston. I even went to it again earlier this week, and it's just not the same. Also how it's served is different. I think the staff and service are great, and one waitress got it much closer. Note: Ask for the catfish sandwhich in a circular soft bread. It's as close as you're going to get to the way it should be done. The bread reminds me of the bread in Dallas, compared to Houston. And ask for tartar sauce on the sandwhich, and not the thousand island with coleslaw, as that's what makes it served differently as well. Again, not the employees fault, it's the designers of the menu that should get this right. But at least there's a workaround slightly to this. Thanks servers at Pappadeaux Houston airport. (Maybe servers can ask what style to serve? Just an idea.) read more

Don't think airport restaurants are bad ... well, not all of them at least. Service and ambience: This is one of the best 'not airport' feel restaurants I have been to. Located away from other airport noise and travellers. The place has nice interior. Service was very good on top of everything. Food and drinks: Two words - very good! I ordered wild caught snapper and crab. The sauce that came with the dish was well balanced and accompanied the seafood well. Scallops and shrimp pasta were equally good. Key lime pie dessert was the 'cherry on the cake', no pan intended. Pricing: $$$ but well worth it! read more

Had a great dining experience with Kingston as our server. Since we were at an airport location, wasn't too sure what to expect in terms of both food and service. Service: Kingston was phenomenal. Very customer focused and kept checking on us frequently. He even went out of his way to find the close beer to Ebita. When the music was too loud, he turned it down for us. Food: House salad: yes I know this sounds easy, but you'd be surprised how many mediocre salads I've experienced. Even at higher end establishments. This salad was very fresh and prepared well, The salmon and shrimp pasta dish: phenomenal! It is very very hard to impress me with this dish. Easily more than 95 percent of the ones I've tried, I have regretted ordering. This dish was phenomenal. Not too heavy or salty either. Seafood gumbo: the only dish that was less than stellar. While the dish was prepared very well, there was almost no seafood in it other than shrimp. I should have just ordered the shrimp gumbo instead. Not sure what happened here. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. Thank you so much again Kingston read more

I, intentionally, made my layover through IAH, so I could try the crawfish platter. The fried crawfish with cocktail sauce was tasty, but I was underwhelmed by the crawfish étouffée. I grew up with my Great-Aunt making étouffée, in Louisiana, so the bar is always high. I wouldn't order étouffée from here again. Not enough of the gravy and lacking in flavor. read more

As soon as you step off the elevator, you are greeted warmly by the hostess. Our waitress was prompt in taking our drink orders. I requested a Life's A Peach cocktail drink. It was refreshing and topped with gummy rings. We ordered alligator bites, which were very tasty. Two of use ordered chopped salads, which were a very nice sized portion. You have an option to add a protein. I ordered the fried shrimp with fries. Oh my goodness, this dish was so delicious. The shrimp were lightly fried and had a great texture. I tasted my friend's chopped salad. It was amazing. Each entree was served with tasty sauces/dips. Service was impeccable. If you don't want to sit at the tables, there is an option to sit at one of two of their bars. It has a great view of terminal. read more

My first time trying Pappadeaux during my visit to Houston. The service was excellent and the location is a level above the busy airport area. I sat at the bar and got myself a drink while I waited for my food. I paid $27 before tip just for this little cup of gumbo and a beer... while the gumbo was indeed delicious, it was certainly overpriced... good thing I was craving it hard enough to go to the other side of the airport lol. The broth was flavorful and shrimp and andouille were super tender too. If I ever visit the south again I intend to try one of their entrees (and perhaps with more money in my pocket...) read more

It had been awhile since i last ate at a Pappadeaux so I decided to get a to go order for my plane ride home. This was the first visit to the Pappadeaux inside IAH. It was located upstairs by gate E4. It was smaller than their typical restaurant but served up most of their top Cajun food offerings. Prices were a bit higher unfortunately but expected inside the airport. To go orders were taken at a separate window by the kitchen. I ordered my favorite crawfish etouffee with dirty rice (instead of the standard white) and only had to wait around fifteen minutes. It came in a plastic to go container that was quite large. The crawfish was plentiful and meaty in a rich gravy with a buttery taste. I prefer dirty rice since it's so much more flavorful with ground beef and spices. It was a filling meal that satisfied my Cajun cravings that day. I always hope Pappadeaux will one day open a location in California so I don't have to travel so far! read more

I love this Cajun & Creole restaurant. Catfish is thin and flaky and not to mention it's very fresh. Fried shrimps are great too. It's fresh shrimps and not bouncy frozen shrimps. Coleslaw has fresh horseradish and it's red and green cabbages with ribbon cuts carrots. We tried " Life's a Peach!" It comes with peaches gummies ! Moscow mules ! Bloody Mary ! We were thinking to get alligator bites but those puppies come with peanuts bread crumbs. I'm allergic to nuts! Manager came and verified in person. Our waiter was very warm and sweet. Pappadeaux Seafood is one of my Cajun faves. I was excited that we had a connecting flight in Houston from FL. Ordered the following: Crab & Spinach Dip - 10/10 Must order! Crispy Atlantic Salmon & Scallop - 10/10 Served with 3 pcs of seared shrimp in lemon butter sauce over a bed of sauteed spinach. Very tasty.
