They offer a variety of seafood dishes Mexican style from ceviche tostadas, hangover soups, fried fish, seafood boils, fresh oysters, etc. Today we had mambo style shrimp as an appetizer, the shrimp felt super fresh, came in this oil base sauce with intense flavors of garlic and green onions, it is one of the best appetizers I've had in a while! Then we had seafood soup with shrimp, fish and veggies, the broth was delicious, I ordered the small one but it was enough for me. We also had a lunch special ($9.99) fried fish and shrimp, very good, with shrimp rice Cantonese style, so flavorful! Went on a Saturday afternoon and was thoroughly impressed with the modern interior. Having been to other Mambo's locations, I can confidently say this is by far the nicest one. The decor is modern take on an old-school diner and the display of the fresh seafood at the front of the restaurant added a charming touch. We ordered the vida rice, empanadas costenas, and the seafood tostadas to share. The Vida Rice was a massive portion and could easily feed at least 8 people if needed. The rice was well seasoned and the shrimp, scallops, and squid was a nice seafood variation of the typical fried rice. It 's a consistent crowd pleaser and must have when at Mambo's. (7/10) The empanadas came out piping hot and had plenty of filling. They were perfectly fried and pairs super well with the green salsa they give you. (8/10) The seafood tostada was packed with plenty of shrimp and octopus ceviche. The ceviche was really fresh and the perfect side dish to pair with the other fried foods we had ordered. (7/10) Overall, I love Mambo's and glad I got to try this location. There's plenty of parking surrounding the restaurant and the service was great even though we sat outside. This is my first time trying Mambo seafood. The food was great and the serving sizes were substantial. I tried the Mas special fried rice (which is fried rice plus beef, chicken, pork and shrimp) and the seafood stuffed jalapenos. I've been a fan of Mambo since I was a broke college kid back in the day. Back then I really appreciated the value you get for a pretty decent seafood meal. Recently a friend was craving it, so I picked up a to go order to eat at her place. Times have changed because I did not know I could order online ahead of time. My fault for not checking. This place was packed for dinner so even putting in an order at the counter took time. There was a slight language barrier so ordering was a little bit of a challenge. That again is on me, not them. The prices are still pretty great. The staff I did interact with were as sweet as can be. My to go order did take awhile, but the food was still a nice temp after a little bit of a drive. My order now was the same thing I got back in the day. I went with the good ole 15 piece fried shrimp with a side of shrimp fried rice for a whopping 10.99. They have an option to make the rice habanero style which I requested, but they said it was be an upcharge and come separately. In essence, I basically ordered another side of rice I guess. I guess because I did not get another side, nor was my rice habanero style. That being said, the fried rice that comes with it is outstanding. They make Chinese food spots look bad for sure. The shrimp were not huge, but decently sized. I did run across some pieces that were not properly cleaned which was a bummer because the shrimp always hits. I also tried some of the seafood gumbo and was pleasantly surprised on how good it was. They definitely know how to cross into the Cajun and Chinese side of things. Honestly if need be just point to the menu when you order. Not the best seafood in town but it is a great little place to curb your cravings and their shrimp fried rice is scrumptious. They have a family meal for $43 that feeds 4 hungry adults for sure. Ambiance is a bit loud and fast paced during rush times but it's almost part of the experience. I love places that honor veterans year round! The last two servers have been great: Lucy and Erica I believe was the other server we had. Waitress was friendly however, she forgot to put our food items with the drinks, so the food came out late. I was looking to eating fish here, however; when I found out Mambos was selling crawfish I decided to give it a try. It was very tasty and the spice level was on point! It was spicy enough to enjoy and 2lbs was enough for me. The platter comes with shrimp, potato, and corn. If you are eating with more than one person I would suggest adding extra potato and corn to get the full crawfish experience. I would chose an individual plate if you are not with a large crowd and want to catch lunch or dinner. I love you can order to your liking for example you can have shrimp fried rice regular or habanero style , fish grilled/fried, and shrimp grilled/fried/scampi style. I have yet to find a seafood place that gives you this option and shows how much this business accommodates every seafood lover. It was very busy, but we were able to be seated in a timely manner. I would suggest to allow some time before being seated especially during the lunch rush. Please note the seating is indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. Love this place...also visit their location on 290w Plenty of parking since also in a strip mall. Always busy and appears packed but unless you have a group of 5 or more usually you get seated pretty quick. I usually get the street corn as a starter and the #1 with rice. #1 is 2 fried fish filets and 6 fried shrimp always good never had a bad serving. The other item I suggest is the Grilled Monterrey chicken. Really really good. I also suggest when getting a beer to ask for the fresh lime juice they will add to frozen mug, makes for a great taste with any beer. I usually get a Michelob Ultra. They also have a touch tunes jukebox that you can play music from app on your phone and buy credits via app no need to get up and go to jukebox. They always seem to have a full staff and service is good, never a long wait. read more

Mambos seafood is one of my faves! You cannot go wrong here. The fried rice is one of the best fried rices you can get in Houston. Something about their rice is simply amazing. Full of flavor. I have yet to find any other rice like it. Def one of a kind. The fried fish is really good too! I also like the fried shrimp. We always come here and my son gets the mambo special fried rice and I get the shrimp and fish. We have been coming to mambos for many years and go to all of their locations. This location gets really packed and yet they are so fast and get the out really fast. Do yourself a favor and stop on in if you never tried it. Keep up the good work mambo seafood.
