This place is very nice. This is my first time coming here and I want to say this was a very positive experience. I was greeted by Emmanuel, who was working on the patio Once he found out that we were first timers, he took time to give suggestions and answer any questions we had even though he was waiting tables and we were getting carry out, so it didn't benefit him at all. We go inside and the awesomness continues. The gentleman at the register was so polite. He took complete care of us! I will return just because of the customer service (don't get me wrong, the food was delicious). The only complaint I have is they forgot the bacon on my son's sandwich. If there could be 0 stars....that would be it today! I am from out of town and as with every restaurant we have went to lately, I called ahead to make sure that they had dine in and would be able to seat my family of 7. They stated on the phone that was no problem at all and that they could meet the accommodations. We arrive and we check in at the podium outside and the gentleman stated that they were not allowed to seat a party of more than 4. Ok cool. We can split up to two tables and he stated that he can't do that. He the said that we can stand outside and wait for a table and that it would be at least 30 minutes. Although, there is a sign that says no parties larger than 10 and that you will not be served if you do not have a mask. I am mindful that there is limited seating at restaurants and that is why I called prior. I asked to speak to the manager, at this point. The manager came out and I started to explain that I called ahead and he said "We don't take reservations." I stated again the issue and he said that there is not he would do about it. I could wait in line because they do not write down who is first. So we stood there and waited for approximately 15 minutes. Then another family of 8 walked up and asked the same questions. We were still waiting! They were sat immediately. I started to question what was happening and the staff member just looked at me and stated, "You just need to wait!" I am out! I had friends with us that I have bragged about the food and experience. Well, my husband and I have decided that we will never be back at this point. read more

I had the worst experience at this location Friday 11/3/23. The women's bathroom did not work. We let the staff know and the waiter proceeded to tell us to stick out hand down the back of the toilet to pull the chain and flush the toilet... like wtf!! That should have been the red flag to leave but my family was on ho all day and needed a quick meal. We ordered 3 entrees and 2 appetizers. All 3 entrees came out before the appetizers! Then when asked about it the waiter proceeded to say, oh the appetizers take longer...as if we have never dined out before and don't know appetizers come first..duh.. the food that we received was ok. One appetizer never made it and when brought to the server's attention, we decided to cancel the order. Overall, we will never return this location. A little mouse also decided he wanted to see what was happening on the patio and did not seem afraid of people. This place was a total disappointment. For $85 check and a hefty tip you would expect a working restroom and competent service. Go elsewhere this place should be shut down!! read more

This was the worst customer service I have ever received and if they had a negative star then that's what I would give this location!!! The evening started off good, the restaurant was very busy, so we were patient with our server at the bar. After waiting for our food for a long while the server came and apologized because he forgot to put our order in. So, I thought oh well things happen. We did get our raw oysters and bowl of gumbo, so no big deal at this point, so I thought. Mind you we had been there for 30 minutes at this point. Next, after another 20 minutes and everyone around us that came in after we did already finished their dinner and left... Our server came over and apologized and said something happened with our order again. He offered a cup of gumbo for the second inconvenience, so we had our gumbo and just rolled with it. So, now this was the third time for our server had to input our order, about an hour now, so I told the manager we had been there for an hour and still haven't received our main course dinner. The manager asked me who the server was, so I pointed him out and told him that he was trying to be nice, but this was getting ridiculous now. Manager (large Hispanic fella), said he would take care of it. I thought ok, I guess we will get our food very shortly, NOT!!!! They brought out another entree we ordered, but not the grilled catfish dinner for my son. Again our server apologized, now at this point we had our appetizer, one entree in almost 1 hour, second entree 20 minutes or so later so just about 1 and a half hours, WOW ???? I don't know what the manager thinks," I will take care of it", means, but we were still waiting on our last dinner to be served. After another 15 or so minutes I have had enough!!!! I was looking for the manager to see what was going on, but he disappeared for about 8 minutes (yes, at this point I had a timer on the situation), finally he came out and I expressed my displeasure about the situation and told him that we needed to go please get our check immediately. His response, "okay, I took the catfish dinner off your bill". ARE YOU KIDDING ME, YOUR NOT GOING TO CHARGE ME FOR SOMETHING I DIDN'T GET??? WOW!!!!!!!! THANKS FOR WASTING AN HOUR AND A BIT MORE THAN HALF OF MY LIFETIME. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN!!! I might have given them another chance, but that was the cherry on top!! Thanks read more

Fun location, great decor and theme. Good prices, good service. Beer & wine only, so don't go hoping they'll have a pirate rum drink. If you're not keen on the fried stuff (of which there are many choices) opt for the grilled stuff. The scallops were divine. The rice was suspiciously over-salted and reminiscent of microwave rice to which they'd added some shrimp to make it seem "fresh". But meh, I don't need those carbs anyway. Always my go to place for great seafood for the last 40 years, not any more. Quality has been slowly going downhill for a while and now portions are cut in half with no adjustment in price. Recently stopped by with a friend hoping for improvement in quality only to realize portions were CUT IN HALF! What used to be two fish filets is now one cut in half looking more like fish sticks. Captain! Send the cook to the brig! The business is cooked shrimp. So, by now, the cooks should know how long to cook a shrimp, right? The shrimp tasted fresh (and probably farm-raised in Mexico), but I assume the chewy shrimp were due to overcooking. This boat-looking building oyster bar has 5 locations around Houston, and dates back to an original and memorable location on Main St. near Greenbriar, where you would order at the bar and after the meal, you tell the cashier what you ordered (i.e. trust was part of the experience). Those days are gone, and the quality now is not as good as I remember it then. You enter the boat and there is a U-shaped oyster bar where you sit (floor slightly slanted) to eat. The kitchen is at one end, all open for you to see. The crowd picks up at noon to fill the place, mainly with blue collar folk. The shuckers behind the counter are very friendly and take your order off the one-page menu. I order the shrimp special, consisting of fried shrimp, a couple of stuffed shrimp, and some skewered grilled shrimp. I was leased impressed with the grilled and stuffed shrimp. The fried shrimp is corn-breaded, which I much prefer to the plain breaded you mostly find elsewhere. All the shrimp were chewy. The tartar sauce and cocktail sauce look and taste store-bought. Is this what franchising does to some originally-good restaurants? Buy in bulk to save a buck? The garlic bread only had a hint of garlic, and was too crisp and chewy on the inside, as if it were either cooked earlier and re-heated, or prepared frozen and cooked. The hush puppies are small, and not really tasty enough to warrant the calories. The concept is great, but the place seems in a routine rut, and execution needs some minor improvements in the cooking. I have to come back to give them another chance, and because there are some interesting items on the menu. read more

Not sure if all of the locations are like this one but this definitely had a diner atmosphere to it. Like a Waffle House that serves average seafood. I ordered the Mate's Plate with catfish and shrimp and added an order ($3 for 3) of the shrimp diablos. I was thinking that the diablos would be an entire hollowed out jalapeño but it was just a tiny piece of a pepper with a shrimp and a piece of bacon wrapped around it. The catfish actually tasted pretty good but the filets were tiny, making it feel like I was eating mostly batter. Shrimp was average. The service was pretty bad as well. No one seemed to care too much about what was going on. read more

I've probably overdosed on oysters today! haha ate 3 dozens of it & everyone of it was delish! Opted for a dozen oysters on the half shell & 2 dozens of the baked oysters Benny style (butter & special blend of Cajun seasoning) Oysters on the half shell had a nice briny taste to it and it was shucked/cleaned very well which was a plus! I hate sandy oysters. The baked oysters were so tasty! After eating the oyster, drink the juice form the shell.. It has sucha nice kick to it. A little savory, a little tart and extra juicy! loved it. I also got the gumbo but ideas nothing to rave about. Nice rue but I didn't like the texture of the shrimp. Tastes overcooked. And knowing me.. for sure always order crab fingers wherever available. However, these were a bit disappointing. I thought it was sautéed in a buttery sauce but it was just fried without the batter and a splash of butter. A tad bit overcooked so the flavor profile wasn't there. Tough to take the meat off the claw. I did enjoy the hot n' juicy boiled shrimp. The presentation of it were oh so cute as well. Had a nice spiced to it but not spicy at all. Some were perfectly cooked, others were well done so it was tough to peel but overall not too shabby! Service was amazing btw! The gentleman behind the bar was so kind and always kept my beer flowing even before I finished it! Quick service too! I love how I can see them preparing my food.
