There were some items that were inedible but that's expected for a buffet of this size, just chuck it and keep going. We had 4 rounds of trying different foods all for $22.99 per person. To begin, I was really impressed with the size of the establishment. It is very spacious with a ton of food options and they do a great job keeping everything clean and fresh. My favorite part was the sushi. We went on the weekend so the all day price came to about $24 a person after taxes. It's worth it for the quality of the food. When I say there was a lot to choose from, I mean it. Haha. It is cheaper during the weekday lunch but some of the options (such as the crab I believe) are not an option for the weekday lunch pricing. Take this review with a grain of salt because I'm not a buffet person. Went on a Friday around 11:30 am and they was a steady stream of customers. Parking is shared in the plaza and was smaller than expected. The restaurant is fairly large - wide and the buffet bar is pretty big. There are the standard buffet options fried rice, lo mein, beef and broccoli, orange chicken, chicken wings, dumplings, egg rolls, spring rolls, etc and a good assortment of seafood - shrimp, fish, clams, mussels, and more. The usual battered and fried stuff. And of course pizza. There is a separate section of sushi - rolls, nigiri, etc. There is also a few soups and a small salad and sauce bar. They had Chinese bbq buns, custard buns and the Chinese style sticky rice (wrapped in banana leaf). There are dessert options too like ice cream, fruit, pudding, cakes, and slushies. They also have a hibachi grill and what they called a hot pot (but was more like a bowl of noodle soup). The hibachi grill noodles were good. There aren't a lot of options but plenty of meats. The hot pot soup (spicy) seemed to use a Sichuan style chili which altered the taste of the soup a bit. Get regular and add your own spice. The staff were friendly and attentive. This place has made it's rounds on social media which is how I discovered it. It is way out in Humble so when I found myself in the area, I made sure to make stopping here a priority. I came with some friends for dinner on a Saturday and this place was packed. It's tucked away in the middle of a shopping strip and the parking lot isn't that big. That being said, parking sucks. What they do offer that I haven't ever seen at a Chinese buffet is valet parking. I made a quick drive around the parking lot and decided to valet to save time. The young gentleman parking cars solo did a great job and works on tips. You pay what you want. They have a pretty large waiting area which we luckily didn't have to utilize. We got seated right away, but soon after, the waiting area filled up. The space inside is huge with lots of seating. They have neon lights and TVs everywhere which is a step up from your regular buffets. In the center is the buffet area with different stations and is very organized and clean. Customer service was good. Our plates never stacked up at the table and our drinks never went empty. The big draw here is the seafood portion of the buffet. I love crab legs but I don't like the work involved to eat it. Unlike other buffets where people pounce the minute the staff put it out, here they keep it well stocked and no ones fighting to get their share. I prefer my crab legs steamed and warm, but here they are served cold. I turned my focus to the huge seafood selection and sushi. They have shrimp and fish in all kinds of different preparations and I gotta say, everything tasted great. They also have a hot pot and hibachi section along with your regular Chinese food buffet offerings. I don't know if it's because I don't frequent Chinese buffets often, but here, I liked everything I tried and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Had family in town and was excited to try this new spot since I've heard all about it. Walked in and there was a young lady hostess who brought us to our table. We weren't even seated yet and she was already asking what we wanted to drink. I'm thinking uhm can we at least sit down first?? She seemed very impatient. My mom sat down first and pointed out that the table was dirty. She responded back by telling her "it's part of the table ma'am". My mom then pulled out a napkin and wiped it to show her that no...the table was actually dirty. We asked to move to a different table and she grabbed our silverware and flung it on the next table over and again asked for drink orders. We all were very confused at the attitude bc what is wrong with asking to sit at a diff table bc the other one is dirty?? If I was by myself, I honestly would've just left and went somewhere else to eat, but bc I was with family, I didn't want to make it a big deal. As for the food, they did have a lot of options. Honestly, I'm very skeptical about buffets and the quality of food, but this is the first buffet I thoroughly enjoy and all the variety of foods they have to offer. This place is a bit far from central Houston and central north Houston, but it's such a great gem! It gets quite busy but they have a number system where you walk in, check in and get a number, and then you get called. It gets pretty busy but the line goes by fast. Parking is also a bit of a hassle as the lot is very small for the amount of people which is a downside. The Chinese food they have is so so, but the seafood is where it's at. Their crab legs are always so fresh and sweet, and rarely salty. We also love their crawfish as it's full of flavor, fresh, and always piping hot. Their sushi selection is decent and also pretty good quality for buffet sushi. The seafood reminds me of Las Vegas buffet quality. Dessert selection is ok. I just go for the ice cream and some fruit and that's pretty much it. Inside it does get pretty hectic and everything is fast paced, but that's good if you want to eat the most you can in such little time! My oh my, I think I have found my favorite Chinese buffet in the Houston area! My expectations are usually low when it comes to Chinese buffets, but I had heard good things about this place, and after learning that they have snow crab legs, I knew I had to visit! We arrived for dinner on a Sunday evening and were lucky enough to get a spot in the small parking lot. I found it interesting that they offer valet, but I guess due to the size of the small shopping complex, it makes sense that vehicle were being parked in the grass. My primary target of the visit was the seafood! On the top of that list was the snow crabs, crawfish, and sashimi! They also carry fresh raw oysters and boiled shrimp, but I did not try those items. The snow crab legs were ransacked frequently but also refilled frequently, which was nice. The legs weren't dry or overly salted, and a liquid butter dispenser was nearby! It was the same with the crawfish... which tasted very fresh and not frozen. They were also seasoned very well and succulent, not the grey overcooked dried out crawfish you usually find at buffets. The fried whole shrimp was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. The mixed sashimi was kinda crammed into one small bowl, but the pieces displayed are nice and fresh. I saw that they offered salmon belly nigiri! As for the cooked prepared American Chinese meats, they were actually good! At most Chinese buffets, these dishes are very one note and bland, but here they had a lot of flavor and were cooked well! The most surpassing was the hibachi grill which usually is tasteless and meh at most places. Here it was shockingly delicious! The only real let down was the dessert, which is the standard at a Chinese buffet. The prepackaged mousse cups were not good. The mediocre cheesecake was still frozen in the middle, and the fruit was less than ideal. I didn't even bother trying the ice cream, as it's the cheap kind in the plastic cups. No thank you! Some things to know: * On their busiest days, they employ the use of waitlist and numbers are called out in the lobby. It's too bad that they use Chowbus, which is limited and doesn't always deliver real-time status to text. The Yelp waitlist is a much better suited option. (#1) * Weekends are an absolute zoo. Endless crowds and long waits. This might be the first time I've ever seen valet service offered at a buffet. * With customized lighting fixtures, music playing top 40 hits, and a clear theme with loyalty points, this is amongst the most modern buffet setups in the entire city. It's not too dissimilar from soemthing like E-star (#2), minus the super dark theme and robot wait service. * They have the fly fans on each of the buffet items. This is not only smart, but a first in any of the buffet spots I've seen. They appear to be automated and most importantly, working. * Without fail, most people are gunning for seafood in the form of crab legs, crawfish, fried shrimp, oysters, mussels, salmon, and sushi. At $23 for adults, this is rather an excellent deal. What is not excellent however, is the food itself. (#3) * The food presentation might be their best asset. Otherwise, it is a smattering of the same thing found at similar places in other parts of the city. Things such as sloppy mac and cheese, a brutal dim sum section, hockey puck ice cream served in elementary schools, and pizza stacked on top of each other. The end tenant Long John Silvers has the most dedicated spaces, and put up hand written signs even to warn would be trespassers, yet still there were no customers in their big empty lot. There is a valet at Buffetopia but hey we are Asian. It was packed around 1 pm on a Sunday when we got there and even more packed around 2:40 pm when we left with the line noticeably out the door. Our waitress was nice and Japanese. The owners are Chinese she said. And the customers were a motley crew of Hispanic )in the clear majority), African Americans (a strong representation), Caucasian (not a lot but more than Asians), and a smidgen of Asians. So we came for the Raw Oysters and sashimi. Every thing else was just filler to us. I made the mistake of trying a few items from the hot buffet line while I waited for them to refill the raw oyster bar and sashimi bowl and it really filled me up. Rookie error. It won't happen again. The main temptation is the deep fried frog legs too, which tasted like chicken. They also got a Hibachi but hey be my guest to that if you're ready to fill up quickly. Deserts were meh. $2 discount if you're over 65 and children and kids get discounts. My child had to pay full price but only had 1 plate. So I felt compelled to make up the money Id be losing on her. I think at the end of the day I broke even. When I used the restroom I saw a moth on the wall. The same kind my dad's store had when it got infested from a contaminated shipment of rice. Hello, we'll start by saying that the buffet line was not organized because they had plates situated everywhere so people were starting the line in the middle of nowhere and will jump in front of you. It was so unorganized. I removed the second star because I was seated near a restroom and didn't realize so many people were gonna be going in and out of that door and it made me lose my appetite a little bit. What else? The third star was removed because the food did not taste that delicious. It was like OK and it made me desire more. Plus, I've had better at the buffets in Katy Texas. I went on and removed the fourth star because I felt like the place wasn't as clean as I wanted it to be, my table wasn't as clean. The place didn't smell that fresh to me. I really was hoping to love this place so I can go back a second time, but I can't get over the egg rolls, not tasting as good and the cheese wontons and just other stuff, it just was not that good to me. According to my mother's standards, you can generally judge the cleanliness of a restaurant by its bathrooms and this place has clean modern bathrooms! That said, there is a wide variety of items to choose from, Chinese, Japanese, Korean (jimchi), and of course American Fried Items. Many customers were loading up on the fried items, which is to be expected of this area. I must say I was disappointed with the fried rice and would not recommend. Buffetopia is the mother of all recent buffets. We went on a busy Sunday and I was excited to try them. They do not take reservations but it was super easy to put our party of 10 on the list. We were seated in about 20 minutes, which was amazing for a buffet on a Sunday. Everything is automated and they call your number over the intercom. The place was crowded but you could not tell because it is huge! They have many, many stations with Chinese food, seafood, full sushi section, hot pot and hibachi. There is truly something for everyone. My fave foods were the potstickers and the sesame chicken with fried rice. My son did hibachi and they have so many options. They had plenty of snow crab and cold boiled shrimp but at times they ran low because so many were eating it. I enjoyed the fresh fruit too. The only bad thing is the parking lot is tiny. They solved this problem by offering valet parking, which is complimentary. We didn't wait long at all but did see some people get towed because they parked in the wrong spots. Quite a few families walked out seeing a busy restaurant, but I can reassure you the queue system was really helpful managing customer flow. The restaurant layout is also very large and can accommodate anyone that walks through their door. The food was perfectly seasoned and I found myself circling back for Shumai, Nigiris, Seafood Boil, Salt Pepper Crabs, Garlic Potato, and Beef Puff Pastry. I was really eager to try the Hot Pot station but with only one broth option available, it didn't feel like a true Hot Pot experience. I would love to see a variation of broths being offered in the future. The staff was attentive, fulfilling drinks and removing dirty plates without being overbearing. All you can eat for $20 might seem steep, but prices for buffets has steadily increased over the years.
