If I could give this place 20 stars, I would! Everything was just perfect--from the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome and at home. The service was excellent, very attentive and friendly without being overwhelming. The food was amazing--fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. Every dish we ordered was consistently good, and you can really tell they care about quality. The ambiance is always a favorite--clean, relaxing, and perfect for spending time with family and friends. We had such a great time and created beautiful memories here. Highly, highly recommend--this place never disappoints!

Wow! Hubby and I came for lunch last week and we were absolutely blown away! We were doubtful that an AYCE (all you can eat) experience could deliver top quality but Umiya showed us they can. Everything was excellent! We'll absolutely be back!

I love this place, always fresh food, kind servers, fast service. The place is dimly lit but clean and just enough light to see what your eating, it makes for a nice cozy spot to enjoy good sushi and a great ALL YOU CAN EST selection of sushi.

My partner and I always drove past this restaurant and said "We should try that place!" We had it for this first time today and it exceeded our expectations. Whoever was in charge of the interior decorating did an excellent job. The AYCE sushi was $33 a person and the selection was almost too much. We ate the food so quickly that there was no time for photos. The lychee martini was delicious. There's truly something for everyone here and we will be back!

Just to update a favorite place of mine and as a regular patron- we ate here 3 weeks ago and the fish arent that well. They taste very fishy, though they didnt smell it seems like the fish have been out in the open. Ordered seared sushi and it didnt even masked that taste so what more for the regular unseared. I addressed this concern to our server but just want to be transparent as well to be sure this gets the proper attention thru reviews like this. Morning staff is different and I dont see anymore the regular/og ones that usually serves us but have no complaints with the new ones (except that they always forget or miss some parts of our order from time to time), they are ok but the older wait staffs pays more attention to detail into what your concerns and knows what to suggest when you crave for customized roll. (Though the past 2 new wait staffs are so knowledgeable of the menus and their taste like the different ramens they currently offer) My complain rounds down from tuna, white tuna, red snapper, salmon so I'm assuming that it has something to do in how they prepped them vs the delivery batch of fish? But lets see next week.

Sushi was great and our waiter Ivan was so nice and very attentive. The dining area was very clean and the fish tanks were awesome. I would highly recommend Umiya for a great selection of fresh sushi.

Greasy dried out and disgusting

This was the most disgusting crap I have ever had. Umiya has completely gone downhill since they took over Asian City. I ordered combo fried rice, hibachi fried rice, one order of steamed dumplings, and chicken lettuce wraps. I can't begin to explain how bad this was. The chicken lettuce wraps were literally just hot chicken dumped on top of wilted lettuce, no sauces, nothing to make it edible. The hibachi fried rice was disgusting, greasy, and tasted awful. Everything was soggy, greasy, and completely unappetizing. For how expensive this was, they should be ashamed. Gross. Needless to say, the entire order went straight into the trash.

Came here with a few buddies a couple weeks ago, and it was fantastic! Our server Kelsey was a top-notch host and was super kind and patient with us the whole time. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the seared salmon sushi. Very glad I got the buffet option. 10/10 experience!

This place is horrible! It is $34.00 per person and the menu is not the best. You receive portions for a 1 year old. The thing is you order and wait 20 mins in between each course to receive extra food. The service is horrible. The taste was mediocre. The first thing I order was fried rice and there was a hair in it. The waitress called the manager to see the hair that was in my food. The manager came over and said oh I'm sorry I'll just remake for you. What??? I was disgusted. Then came back and said it was not a hair it was a piece of an edamame. Well it definitely look like a hair to me. At this point there is no remaking of anything, there is a hair in my food! This completely makes me gag and have the need to regurgitate. I am completely uncomfortable ordering any more food at this point. I spend another 30 mins waiting for my check. The manger said we'll only charge you half of your check due to your experience. I paid $87.11 and left. I should have not been charged anything for a meal that was the worst meal of my life. Save your hard earned money and don't come to this place!

The food was delicious! A dinner AYCE sushi with seared nigiri! I have never seen that before! They also have hibachi as an option. The waitress was very knowledgeable and professional. The ambiance was pretty casual and the place was decorated nicely. They have two small bridges connecting to the entry doors where you can see fish! I am definitely going back again to try out the specialty rolls at lunchtime.

This place is a bit far from central Houston and central north Houston, but it's such a great gem! It gets quite busy but they have a number system where you walk in, check in and get a number, and then you get called. It gets pretty busy but the line goes by fast. Parking is also a bit of a hassle as the lot is very small for the amount of people which is a downside. The Chinese food they have is so so, but the seafood is where it's at. Their crab legs are always so fresh and sweet, and rarely salty. We also love their crawfish as it's full of flavor, fresh, and always piping hot. Their sushi selection is decent and also pretty good quality for buffet sushi. The seafood reminds me of Las Vegas buffet quality. Dessert selection is ok. I just go for the ice cream and some fruit and that's pretty much it. Inside it does get pretty hectic and everything is fast paced, but that's good if you want to eat the most you can in such little time! The servers are always attentive and take away empty plates, refill drinks, and are happy to assist with anything you need. All in all, this is a great bang for your buck if you want a good variety of food with amazingly fresh seafood.

My oh my, I think I have found my favorite Chinese buffet in the Houston area! My expectations are…read moreusually low when it comes to Chinese buffets, but I had heard good things about this place, and after learning that they have snow crab legs, I knew I had to visit! We arrived for dinner on a Sunday evening and were lucky enough to get a spot in the small parking lot. I found it interesting that they offer valet, but I guess due to the size of the small shopping complex, it makes sense that vehicle were being parked in the grass. My primary target of the visit was the seafood! On the top of that list was the snow crabs, crawfish, and sashimi! They also carry fresh raw oysters and boiled shrimp, but I did not try those items. The snow crab legs were ransacked frequently but also refilled frequently, which was nice. The legs weren't dry or overly salted, and a liquid butter dispenser was nearby! It was the same with the crawfish... which tasted very fresh and not frozen. They were also seasoned very well and succulent, not the grey overcooked dried out crawfish you usually find at buffets. The fried whole shrimp was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. The mixed sashimi was kinda crammed into one small bowl, but the pieces displayed are nice and fresh. I saw that they offered salmon belly nigiri! As for the cooked prepared American Chinese meats, they were actually good! At most Chinese buffets, these dishes are very one note and bland, but here they had a lot of flavor and were cooked well! The most surpassing was the hibachi grill which usually is tasteless and meh at most places. Here it was shockingly delicious! The only real let down was the dessert, which is the standard at a Chinese buffet. The prepackaged mousse cups were not good. The mediocre cheesecake was still frozen in the middle, and the fruit was less than ideal. I didn't even bother trying the ice cream, as it's the cheap kind in the plastic cups. No thank you! The jello wasn't that bad and came in unique flavors. The slushies were actually kinda tasty! So go ahead and visit you're in the area and want to be a total glutton.

I kid you not I was in and out the restaurant in less than 30 minutes. Among entering the lighting was low and it seemed as if there wasn't any AC blowing which sucked. As I got seated and browsed the menu, they have very affordable prices and a great all you can eat lunch special. I decided to order an appetizer steamed pork gyoza ($8.xx) and a lunch 2 sushi rolls ($12.xx). All of my food came out 5 minutes after ordering. To start off with the gyoza, they taste like the ones you'd get at the sushi section of a kroger/heb. I wasn't a fan and they were warm at best. As for the sushi, I got a plain shrimp tempura and a plain snow crab roll. Everything just tasted poor quality. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't distasteful, it just wasn't super fresh. It tasted like low grade products were used and just something quick to serve. I can say they had a very spicy and tasty spicy mayo. Overall, I wouldn't recommend and am still on the hunt to find a good Sushi/Japanese restaurant in the area.

I like their spicy salmon hand rolls because they're one of the few places that don't cheat you out of the salmon by mixing crunch toppings in it. If you go to a place and they do that it's not a real sushi restaurant. Also, always a beautiful presentation whether you're dining in or take out. I'll be back soon for the AYCE and Happy Hour.

I ordered the seared nigiri (one of each to try) and it came out barely seared at all. I asked if I could get a little bit more of a sear on it (I personally enjoy the flavor of a decent sear). When it came back out, it was wonderful. The seared salmon and tuna especially were the closest bites to the nigiri I had in Japan. I would come back just for those. The hot sake is also really nice, and we appreciated that our server took the time to pour the first cup. The takoyaki were standard. Not the best I've had but also not the worst. The green mussels were okay. We found the wasabi served with the ginger to be very lackluster and not spicy at all as expected, which was disappointing. The real wasabi served on the seared nigiri, however, was fantastic. The rolls were decent (shaggy dog and tiger's eye). We liked the large selection and interesting variations. Huge pot of green tea for $3, which was appreciated. The menu is pricier than other AYCE places ($36) with no drinks included; however, I'll give credit that their menu is also quite extensive. Overall, we had a decent visit and I feel like I've built up some trust with their food so we'll definitely be back in the future to try again.
