Idk of you've ever worked the service industry or cleaned RR, but that's a very distinct smell. (Imagine cleaning your bathroom with nice soap that smells good & someone urinates in the middle of that.) Not a good 1st impression. Stink & food don't mix. Stick & Hibatchi don't mix. My nose isn't usually sensitive, durian fruit in an asian mart don't even phase me but that did. They tried to air place out, but still you could smell it a little. Other wise it was nice; very spacious yet cozy so it could accommodate both big & small groups. I loved the different fish set ups & decor. The light up ceiling was my favorite!! I ordered the Bamboo & Hot Mama rolls, they were really good. I was full after that, they have really good tea too. I may come back if in area again to see if smell was just 1x offense. read more

The decor is unique... a celestial ceiling light show and some odd fiber optic accents. It's a memorable design choice. the floors were slippery from whatever cleaning solution is being used. That's something management should address. The host staff was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating right from the start. We opted for the all-you-can-eat option, which was a solid value. The food was consistently good across the board, with nothing terrible . the kitchen timing could use some tightening, had to ask more than once for a couple of items. Service was the weak point of the visit. Our server wasn't particularly attentive and had the audacity to ask for an ADDITIONAL TIP on top of the automatic gratuity for our large party. read more

All you can eat sushi is amazing. For $21 per adult on the lunch menu you can get chef specialty rolls, appetizers, ramen, or desserts. The quality of the sushi is really good! The only downside of my visit today was the kitchen was backed up so we had to wait a long time for green tea, miso soup, and other small plates as they were backed up in having clean dishes to keep up with more orders. read more

Haven't been here since it was changed from Showgun to Umiya. We had a taste for sushi so decided to give em a try. Upon entering we were greeted promptly and friendly. The food was horrible. We ordered different types of ramen and they all tasted like sink water broth. We ordered California rolls and they came in HOT NOT COLD. Service lagged. We asked the server what she recommended or if a certain plate was good and she stated she has NEVER ate anything here. Should have took that as a sign. And to top it off apparently if you leave more than half of that plate "un-ate" they charge you extra for that one un-finished plate. As a full price plat plus the all you can eat price of $33.xx. My partner and I always drove past this restaurant and said "We should try that place!" We had it for this first time today and it exceeded our expectations. Whoever was in charge of the interior decorating did an excellent job. The AYCE sushi was $33 a person and the selection was almost too much. Just to update a favorite place of mine and as a regular patron- we ate here 3 weeks ago and the fish arent that well. They taste very fishy, though they didnt smell it seems like the fish have been out in the open. Ordered seared sushi and it didnt even masked that taste so what more for the regular unseared. I addressed this concern to our server but just want to be transparent as well to be sure this gets the proper attention thru reviews like this. Morning staff is different and I dont see anymore the regular/og ones that usually serves us but have no complaints with the new ones (except that they always forget or miss some parts of our order from time to time), they are ok but the older wait staffs pays more attention to detail into what your concerns and knows what to suggest when you crave for customized roll. (Though the past 2 new wait staffs are so knowledgeable of the menus and their taste like the different ramens they currently offer) My complain rounds down from tuna, white tuna, red snapper, salmon so I'm assuming that it has something to do in how they prepped them vs the delivery batch of fish? This was the most disgusting crap I have ever had. Umiya has completely gone downhill since they took over Asian City. I ordered combo fried rice, hibachi fried rice, one order of steamed dumplings, and chicken lettuce wraps. I can't begin to explain how bad this was. The chicken lettuce wraps were literally just hot chicken dumped on top of wilted lettuce, no sauces, nothing to make it edible. The hibachi fried rice was disgusting, greasy, and tasted awful. Everything was soggy, greasy, and completely unappetizing. For how expensive this was, they should be ashamed. Gross. Needless to say, the entire order went straight into the trash. read more

Honestly I wasn't expecting much of this newish restaurant. I visited here on a whim with another. You have an option of AYCE hibachi or AYCE sushi. For me, it's always going to be sushi! The interior is fun, with fish tanks and fiber optic lights and paper umbrellas. It was unique. We ordered a variety of appetizers including the tataki, miso soup, pepper tuna, crab rangoons, edamame, and mussels. Each order of appetizer only contains one or two pieces, so make sure to double or triple your order. I was pleasantly surprised by the various toppings on the thin sliced fish. The mussels, which were one of my favorites, were big and meaty! As for the sushi and sashimi, it was super fresh and tasty! The sashimi was nicely chilled on a bed of ice, which I really appreciated. The salmon was extra delicious and melt in your mouth. Selection wise there's a lot of rolls to chose from, including simple ones and specialty rolls. The two rolls I ordered were very tasty and rolled with care. They're not all stuffed with imitation crab meat, which is great! Of course, we ended the meal with a fried cheesecake slice, which was oh so yummy and some sago in coconut milk, which was also nice. Our sever was very nice and let us sample some wines before making a selection. I was very happy and full by the end of the meal! Their salmon nigiri was good as well. Fish was thinner than I'm used to but for AYCE, not bad quality. They had plenty of rolls to choose from also from common Philadelphia ones to fried chicken roll. If you have stomach space, try their fried rice. It is sooooooooo good. The rice is fluffy, smokey and buttery. I wish I could've eaten 3 bowls of this. I'll definitely be back when I'm craving sushi for lunch. But I'd be open to try their hibachi after the pleasant experience with the fried rice. I absolutely loved the decor of this place. Vintagey and neon lights mix actually works well.
