I didn't believe the reviews or the signs which indicated premium sushi, but I ended up coming here one day and I am now a believer. I decided to go with the ayce, which is an option but not required. The best part, unlike other ayce places is the whole table doesn't have to choose the same ayce option. They can get a la carte. I tried just the seared sushi and raw apps and no rolls and actually enjoyed everything which was a huge surprise! It was so good and there is one closer to me in the Willowbrook area, so I may be checking that one out too. Service was pretty good here as well. Ambiance is slightly different than your average sushi restaurant because although it is mostly ayce, there is no buffet line to go and grab your food. Friends recommended this spot. Good location with plenty of parking. Small spot on the inside. Brightly lit and clean. Serving staff get 5. Our waitress was amazing!!! The food was nothing special. Good portions on the first round, but they got smaller as we ordered our second round. The smoked salmon was a bit dried out and had a strong after taste. Some other fish items we ordered also had an odd after taste or scent to them. Limited items for lunch menu. Two adults with water was about $52. No discounts offered such as military, EMS, etc. It's a basic neighborhood all you can eat spot with a higher price tag. Not going to come back. I was genuinely excited to see another AYCE option open on North side. I noticed a price increase during my first visit, and felt a little misled particularly given that the restaurant has only been opening for about 2 months. Although the restaurant was empty, I was informed that sushi could take awhile since a table ahead placed a large order. I was prepared for the wait, and politely asked if the TV could be switched to Sunday Football. The owner/manager was dismissive of the request, once again I felt frustrated with the experience when I haven't received any food yet. Once the food made its way to the table, I was able to enjoy the quality and the presentation of each dish. The appetizers were delicious, more so than the sushi itself. The seared nigiri could've been torched a touch more to bring out the aroma, texture, and depth. Overall, Sake Bon is a great addition to the area, and I look forward to returning for a more improved dining experience. read more

I was exciting to find out they open AYCE sushi in kingwood. But it turned out not what I expected. I don't usually give out bad reviews but this time I have to. We have a birthday party of 12 of us and we were there early at 11:30am for lunch while the place was empty. The kitchen was super slow that by the time we paid the bills (2hours later) bcoz we have to go . My food was partially served. And the worse part , mine was mainly sashimi choices. Really ??? All they do is to slice out the fish, no cooking or rolling involved. It's literally should take no more than 15 minutes to be served. I actually left the restaurant hungry and that should never be the case of an AYCE restaurant. We paid $32.95 per person and I'm still hungry . Honestly I ate maybe 10 pieces of sashimi for my orders and I had to cancel the rest of my orders bcoz I can't wait anymore. No more appetite During the services we constantly remind the server about our missing orders but the server couldn't do anything about it. I did talk to the manager about how bad her service was but she's literally ignore me. Someone needs to review their services procedures and if they can't take orders and give the food accordingly then they shouldn't take more customers than they can handle. read more

For still being VERY new and recently just open this is great! I would definitely have some patience while they are still working out the little tweaks. I am very big on trying everything so we did the all you can eat which I would recommend Anything we ordered...great, from apps to raw sushi and ending with dessert this was all very tasty and flavorful. This place is AMAZING!! The all you can eat is always fresh and delicious, such a good value and my boyfriend and I always end up getting our money's worth! Chris is the best waiter of all time, so kind and personable! He always makes sure we are taken care of and makes great recommendations about what to order! We eat here at least once a week and it never fails. Definitely recommend the steak hibachi and the thai chili garlic hamachi. The nigiri/sashimi is fresh and is sooo delicious. Been here twice. First time my husband and I tried the menu ala cart and the second time we did AYCE. We love sushi and always had a problem with sushi on this side of Houston. Our biggest complaint was the lack of quality sushi here, we'd have to drive downtown to get something good. Well we have been more than pleased with the sushi at Sake Bon, its quality, the nigiri is at the perfect temp and never ever fishy. We stick to the nigiri and the Thai chili hamachi and we do a couple of the rolls which are all fabulous. read more

Oh man I'm so full!!!! Just got home from sake bon. I'm not a sushi fan and don't like fish but there was soooo much other stuff to eat. Everything I had tasted amazing. The meat is great quality. My mum who loves sushi said everything she tried was amazing. $5 large hot sake is crazy cheap. The service was great they were constantly asking if we wanted more and refilling drinks. Huge place inside plenty of seating. It was $35 for the AYCE option. They have à la carte pricing if you don't want AYCE. I would for sure go back again. Go give them a try. Pretty solid spot overall for AYCE. I haven't tried anything aside the sashimi and sushi. The fish is fresh and selection is what you would expect. Nothing really good like scallops or bonito, but all your basic tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc are available. Really enjoy the chili garlic hamachi appetizer. Don't recommend the mackeral, as it didn't seem to be prepared properly when I tried it (salted, rinsed and cured in rice vinegar). Service is pretty good and dining room is clean. 3.5/5 read more

I'll give this place 3.5 stars for now. Happy that there's finally a decent sushi place in Kingwood. The service was really quick and attentive (thanks Stevie!). I ordered the seared nigiri (one of each to try) and it came out barely seared at all. I asked if I could get a little bit more of a sear on it (I personally enjoy the flavor of a decent sear). When it came back out, it was wonderful. The seared salmon and tuna especially were the closest bites to the nigiri I had in Japan. I would come back just for those. The hot sake is also really nice, and we appreciated that our server took the time to pour the first cup. The takoyaki were standard. Not the best I've had but also not the worst. The green mussels were okay. We found the wasabi served with the ginger to be very lackluster and not spicy at all as expected, which was disappointing. The real wasabi served on the seared nigiri, however, was fantastic. The rolls were decent (shaggy dog and tiger's eye). We liked the large selection and interesting variations. Huge pot of green tea for $3, which was appreciated. The menu is pricier than other AYCE places ($36) with no drinks included; however, I'll give credit that their menu is also quite extensive. If I could give 0 stars then I would. The chicken fried rice was covered in so much oil and grease it wasn't even edible. The pork shumai, which is a traditional pork dumpling, was a fried ball of goo. Nothing traditional about that. Will never be eating here again. read more

First timers No one informed about the "everything you can eat" package, they just kept asking if it was "a la carte"..... we ordered from the menu and they still brought small size plates and later brought a second plate apologizing cause there was a confusion (I guess everyone orders the 1st option).... They didn't ask if we wanted dessert, didn't refill the cups..... they were just rushing us by taking out the plates..... sushi rolls ok nothing impressive..... not impressed also by service..... half of the restaurant was empty so why the rush??? read more

We thought we'd try this new place in Kingwood, but the food was just not good. The fried rice that was supposed to be chicken, shrimp, and vegetables had no vegetables and was greasy. The butterflied shrimp was hard, overcooked, and lacked flavor. My husband said the rice in the sushi roll was hard. The only thing remotely good was the tempura chicken, which I suspect they actually made when we ordered. Everything else seemed to have been sitting a while. Our server was good, but overall the place lacked ambiance which wasn't helped by two employees having a lengthy conservation near our table. I'm now home with a tummy ache, likely from the grease.
