The service overall was good, the young lady worked hard to fulfill everyone's orders and food came at an efficient pace which I appreciated. This isn't midtown with the paid parking and the trendy bars and clubs next door. It's a mom and pop restaurant in an unassuming shopping center with nice people, good food, and good prices. I don't come to that side of town often so I'm not sure how things work during the week or a regular weekend. I know a few others who thought they were used to spicy foods learned a lesson that day about not ordering stuff too spicy so you probably want to offset the desired spice level minus 20% when ordering because apparently they are not messing around with the heat! read more

Unfortunately, this isn't Thai or Laos food! My experience wasn't pleasant! We ordered Thai beef salad, Tom yum with chicken,drunken noodles, fried chicken, papaya salad with 4 bags of sticky rice. The Thai beef salad tasted as if the marinated beef was spoiled and it was too sweet. The Tom Yum soup was sweet as well as the fried chicken. My friend actually chipped his tooth on the chicken so that ended our outing.Overall, the only dishes that tasted somewhat authentic was the papaya salad and drunken noodles! Thai Orchid is a fun little restaurant serving Thai and Cambodian cuisine. We ordered from the Cambodian menu and had several delicious salads, tiger cry, and a bitter melon soup. All were delicious, spicy, and fresh. Our waitress was fun and cheerful and even asked if we wanted to join her in karaoke. I've been in Houston now, for almost a Month and am trying different/exotic places to eat at. Houston is known for their diverse cuisine. If you're looking for some authentic Thai Food in the area, and if you're like me. I have my staple appetizers/food that I try at different places/restaurants. You should give this place a try. They have a wide selection of appetizers and you will not get disappointed. If you're like me, I love FRIED FOOD and APPETIZERS. Simple and easy to eat and no surprises. So, you would think, lol... So, here are some of the food that I tried here and what I think (in my own opinion) on how they tasted like. The Thai sausages are a little bit crispy on the outside but juicy in the inside. Thai Beef Jerky, I was a little skeptical because they can be a little tough, chewy and dry. But, this one is tender and juicy as well. Thai Crispy wings are a little bit breaded. Crispy and juicy at the same time. By the way. I always pair my sausage and beef jerky with sticky rice. So, don't forget to order sticky rice on the side. The last one is called Nam Khao Tod. It's a combination of crushed rice w/cilantro, lime juice, peanuts, crispy pork skin seasoned with spices. (This can be really spicy. Make sure you let them know how spicy or mild you want it to be) I learned the hard way, I guess as you get older, your heat tolerance goes down. Over all, the food here is great. Came here during lunchtime and I should've seen the red flag. I was the only customer at the restaurant. Thar says a lot. I gave them the benefit of a doubt and try it anyway. I ordered off the lunch menu and got tofu pad Thai. When the food came out instantly I knew it didn't look fresh. The pad Thai looks like it was already made and reheated. Base on the texture the noodles were very soft almost mushy. I ate it anyway since I was there. The guy never brought out my soup thats suppose to come with all lunch order. When it was time to get the bill the guy ask if everything is ok and when I asked how come I didn't get the soup he said that's for lunch menu and if I wanted the soup. I said yes, I ordered off the lunch menu so yes I want it to go since I was done. After I got my bill I notice he did a customize amount and charged me extra for the soup. Stopped by this place on the way back from the airport. We arrived around 6pm and we were the only ones there. I ordered shrimp and chicken fresh spring rolls, Pad Wood Sen and Tom Kha soup. The first two were tasty but the Tom Kha was completely off in flavor. It had a very dominant tomato taste. The coconut, ginger, and lemongrass flavors were practically non-existent which is not usual for this dish. It almost tasted like Chicken Tortilla Soup which was odd. I just did not enjoy it. Besides that, the waiter was nice and the food was out promptly but I just was not impressed enough to make a trip back. read more

This northside gem provides delicious southeast Asian cuisine selling as Thai but for the informed guest, we know there's a CambodiAn twist on it from the new owners. There are unpublished dishes that the kitchen can whip up if you but ask. We ordered the standard flat noodles, fried fish, papaya salad which were all delicious , but my favorite was the cambodiAn beef sausage called twah koh, off menu. I can't ever find it anywhere for purchase, only if an auntie makes it at home and I'm lucky enough to get some. It was spicy, juicy, with that sharp bite of galangal flavor. Worst service ever. We order here once a week and time and time again they mess up our order. I order food for our front of house here at work. I told the lady today I DO NOT WANT LUNCH PORTION I WANT REGULAR. Yet we pick up they food and they gave me lunch. I was a little confused at first because I was looking for Thai Xpress. Checking the address after Mapquest directed me a little further than it should have, I found Thai Orchid. When I walked in, I asked someone who came out of the kitchen if this was what used to be Thai Xpress. She replied yes but with new management. A great family business under new leadership. Got to love legacy businesses! I liked the outline of their menu because it showed all of the options for meals and, at the top of the page, showed prices with Tofu, Beef, Chicken, etc. They gave me a lot of food for the price. I got a soup, small salad im a jello cup, a spring roll, a wonton with some potato-ish substance inside, Tofu on mixed vegetables and broccoli, and white rice. It was a delicious meal! My waitress was nice although stoic. My plate came out pretty quickly - about 5 mins. I recommend this place to anyone in the area! Thanks for the suggestion, Yelp! Came here around 8:15 they closed at 9pm and we were not rushed to eat. They have live karaoke the owner asked if it would bother us we said no. The food was awesome! There was only one waiter but he was extremely nice and very helpful. The FOOD! I ordered the Yum Khun (Spicy Sliced Beef Salad) and Chicken Satay. The Beef was really spicy even though it was Medium. Man, I need to raise the bar on the spicy food I eat. I asked the water if I could have some rice and he was more than willing to get me some. And then there's the Chicken Satay. This is one of my favorite dishes and it did not disappoint. The Peanut Sauce was smooth and creamy like I remember it and the cucmber-onion sweet and sour sauce was just perfect.
