Been here plenty of times and the seafood is good but this was my first tine ordering a PoBoy and will be my last. Too much bread kept the flavors from meshing. The shrimp breading fell off so there was no crisp and they had no flavor. Some things should stay close to authentic as possible and poboys are one of them. This was a not so go shrimp sandwich. I used to come to this place on a weekly basis. I would order the L1 shrimp,mussell's, and clams however over time the food started being overcooked the mussel shells would come empty you would have to search for them in the bag and there were times the clams would be completely shut so I stopped going ..I decided to return inly to be reminded why I stopped coming shrimp stuck to shell (overcooked) the portion size has decreased tremendously but the price increased...Our waiter took our order brought our food and then disappeared. With Houston saturated with seafood joints and Asian Cajun flavors and also trendy places it's hard to pinpoint where to go. I'm not in this area often so it's hard to visit this place but, it's the best seafood with Asian Cajun flavors you can get that is (key word) consistent. Also my partner says she's been coming here for years with her family. It was very busy the night we came in, our fries came out cold, but our waitress rectified it immediately with no issues and although she was swamped with bigger tables she came to us and still helped us out of course we also were patient and understanding. The ambiance is how it usually is I love that the ac is cold so I'm not sweating eating my spicy boiled seafood. I was torn between a 3 and 4 star on this visit. This was my second visit to Captain Crawfish. My first visit consisted of a po boy, with appetizers of dumplings which were very tasty and the fried calamari. Both were very good. For my second visit I tried something different and I went with the Seafood bag with 1lb crab, and 1 lb shrimp, and crawfish, one potato and one corn with medium heat and Louisiana Cajun flavor. First off, medium heat was no joke, my mouth was burning, and I'm not too certain if I didn't get the hot. Second, the flavor was hot, but flavorless. It literally was water and cajan seasoning no flavor at all. Okay, maybe I chose the wrong flavor, because those at my table had chose flavors like garlic butter and other things that all had butter and it was delicious 4 star. Yes they let me try theirs. Other than that, the shrimp were huge, nice sized crawfish, and a good size cluster of crab legs. Both of the appetizers of boudin balls and the fried calamari were both on point. Now when it comes to the drinks, let's just say you definitely get your money's worth. There is no holding back on the alcohol or watered down drinks at this establishment. The drinks are tasty but be warned with just a few sips in, you will feel it. The service was prompt and friendly while the atmosphere is casual and fun. Also, 3 potatoes, 2 corn, and 1 sausage for $65.99 which isn't a bad price at all! We ordered it medium spice with the captain special blend. Now, I am from southern Louisiana and I consider myself a connoisseur of all seafood boils. The seafood isn't boiled with much seasoning in the water just the special blend poured on top. Which you can dip the meat in it. The special blend is very delicious, just wish there was a way to boil the seafood in it. The crawfish were not purged as asked and told yes. Some had red eggs inside which were not eaten. This means crawfish isn't fresh but frozen since it isn't crawfish season yet. We also ordered the seafood fried rice which was good but a tad dry. This new seafood restaurant is decorated nicely and definitely has a nautical theme with ship wheels, oars, propellers, a kayak, life preservers, and nets stapled to the walls. The most tacky items may be the inflatable intertubes (you can buy at walmart) mounted to the ceiling. They serve free pita chips and salsa when guests are seated, which is a little weird for a seafood restaurant. The salsa tastes like jarred basic salsa from the grocery store. Their simple menu is jam-packed with a wide range of food offerings including: appetizers, various pan-fried scallion pancakes, noodle soups, pasta, soups and salads, fried baskets, po boys, fried rices and seafood boil combos. I chose the cajun wings, shrimp basket and sweet tea on my first visit. I came on my birthday for a takeout order. I ordered 6lbs of crawfish, 3 potatoes, 3 corns, and 6 sausage. I arrive and the girl at the counter takes my order number. She brings out a bag and as I'm walking out the door I hear a man say "Excuse me ma'am." I turn and he asks "is this 6lbs of crawfish?" I said yes. He grabbed my bag and told me he wanted to make sure. He went to the back and I could hear him ask everyone was this 6lbs. The girl who I gave my order number to said yes and he opened it and said "this is only 3lbs." He brings me my bag and I take my now "correct" food and go home. Upon me arriving home and opening my food, I see only 2 soggy potatoes, 3 corns, and 6 sausages. The crawfish were too soft, we're full of eggs, as well as this greenish white thick substance.
