Where is the birria in my birria burrito?
    Lauren S.

I always said that the one thing Lancaster REALLY needs is a great taco joint!! This was a good attempt, but not exactly what I meant.... Because $7+ per taco is just mean. I would never call Papi Grandes "Authentic Mexican" . It's not even "California Mexican". It's American food in a tortilla. For instance....they offer Smash Burger tacos. Which I'm sure tastes delicious but I desperately wanted actual Mexican food. My husband and I ordered birria burritos, and they were 90% rice and beans with a tiny amount of meat and cheese. I forgot to take a picture there, but will add a picture of my leftovers when we got home (I ended up throwing it out because who wants just rice in a tortilla?) and then...LOL.... They also serve the rice burrito with Mexican rice on the side. I've never seen so much rice in my life, and it cost us $22 per plate! It was insane. My husband said "Wow this place is a real money grab!". They do have a nice children's menu section, but I will warn you that their mac and cheese is made with their queso which my 3 yr old said it was too spicy. I ended up eating it, and it did have a small kick to it, which to me was Soooooooo delicious, but I get why a toddler would say it's "too spicy". Overly, it's a great building, great atmosphere, the patio is really nice and the service was good. I just wish they would add meat to their food for the price. OH, And a normal sized Margarita?!?! $18!!!! EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. I almost fainted.

    Hibachi Bowl

I ordered the Hibachi Bowl for dinner and it tasted lovely. The shrimp was cooked to perfect along with the chicken and the rice was just right. The sauce that the bowl was mixed in tasted very nice. Not sweet or salty just perfect. The portion was a bit smaller than I imagined for the price. Maybe over time and after reading reviews Papi Granda will enlarge their portion sizes. The ambiance was pretty neat for being in the Village of Lancaster. It's real nice seeing this type of restaurant in the village of Lancaster. Bringing in more people to the area which is nice. I didn't deal too much the service as I ordered the food to go. The cooking time seemed average and it was put in a sturdy to go box and placed in a bag.

This was our first time here, coming for dinner on a Saturday evening. When you walk in if you turn left you're in the bar area with some high top tables. If you turn right, you are in the restaurant portion with a combination of tables, but mainly booths. There are two TVs on the wall but they are positioned so that only a few tables can comfortably watch them. I had an excellent server named Lindsey who was very attentive and professional. We opted for the specials of the day which was tacos with chunks of lobster meat in it for my husband and I took the sizzling platter that had four grilled shrimp and two pieces of grilled fish which I believe were haddock. My platter came with three small flour tortillas a scoop of sour cream, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a scoop of coleslaw and a scoop of macaroni salad. We did receive a basket of chips and salsa immediately upon sitting down in our booth. This salsa was a bit watery and kept falling off our chips. The chips were nothing to write home about as they were not made in a restaurant. My husband enjoyed his two tacos and he was full after that since he had eaten the majority of the chips. My platter had a lot of food on it I ate a shrimp and about half of the fish. One piece of fish was blackened and was seasoned past my comfort level. It was just okay. I also found the ambiance and the decorations to be rather plain. We really could have been in any restaurant, there was little in ways of decoration to let you know it was a Mexican-themed restaurant. There are very high ceilings, so unfortunately all of the music and noise from the bar side came right over to the dining side. I would recommend they reconsider the volume of the music and DJs necessary for a festive atmosphere on the far side when they are in dinnertime dining mode.

    Smashburger and Pescado tacos

Another great experience. The waitress was nice and was accommodating to us being on a time crunch. We shared the Bottia Nachos and each tried a new taco than we had the first time there. The smash burger taco was unique and tasty, however the Pescado taco was the winner tonight. I loved the batter on the cod and the pickled onions!! Our wait time was minimal, our service was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice, sitting inside this time, on a very hot day!

Newly opened location for Papi Grande in Lancaster. There is a dining room and a bar seating area with high tables. Service was excellent. Food and drinks were served up quickly and the servers are very nice. There's a huge wraparound raised deck area which is very close to opening. It is still under construction but looks to be 98% done. Drinks were also very good. Prices are a bit higher than normal but it's a classy new place. This a good addition to the rapidly improving downtown Lancaster area. Street parking is available but tough to come by but there are a couple public lots in the area

Fruit flies on the wall in January!

Good food. Good drinks. Good service but the fruit flies drove us crazy. At one point, there were 4 of them on the wall by our table. Gross.

Overpriced and $20 margarita with to much ice and little liquor. I could get better salsa and guacamole at the grocery store.

There is a huge difference between both their locations. Food was ok, nothing, service was good but I'll stick to the Amherst location.

Flavorful and fresh.. All the food was made to order. Came to the table hot. All ingredients were very fresh, vibrant in color and flavorful! I went for the chicken fajitas, that came with beans, rice, little green salad, and guacamole and sour cream. Portions were nice size no need ask for extra. My chicken fajitas were delicious. Chicken was cooked perfectly, sizzled the whole time while at the table. Topped with peppers, onions and mushrooms. Normally not a big rice fan, but the rice was so good, I loved it! I came here with some family who were visiting from out of town. We wanted somewhere that everyone could eat at since we have omnis, GFs, and vegans. Love that there were options for everyone. However, my partner and I ordered the guacamole azteca which came out with cheese clearly on it and mixed in. I asked the server immediately if it was cheese and he said no, they would never put cheese in it. I had my doubts but thought perhaps it could be finely minced garlic. So we started eating. About halfway through we hit a pocket of unmixed cheese and I stopped eating. Asked the server a second time who denied it was cheese. He claims he also asked in the kitchen and they assured him it wasn't cheese. Well, it was- I got sick that night. My vegan dinner was small- no rice or beans. Just two sad little enchiladas with very little filling. There was a pile of iceburg lettuce next to them with a small scoop of pico. But all in all, the meal is NOT worth the price. The vegan options were the same price or more than the meat options, but came out with half the food on the plate. I felt this meal deserved only 1 star, but the fact that there were vegan options on the menu bumped it up to 2 stars. I will not be going back, I would much rather eat elsewhere in a more quiet atmosphere where the servers and kitchen staff KNOW what they put dairy in.

You can't be in Margaritas and not smile at least once. The spirit in there is infectious. On this particular date, we got to catch some of the Sabres game, which was a treat and celebrate St. Patrick's weekend drinking margaritas. I got a flight, as always. I'm usually not a frozen marg girl, but when at Margaritas...plus on one flavor you always get a mini rubber duck and they are adorable and you can take it home with you. I like adding it to my collection in my Jeep. The standout marg was the watermelon. It wasn't too sweet. Prickly pear and dragon fruit were a little too sweet for me. Because I was hungry, but not hungry enough, I went with two side orders. I got a tostada and a taco. They were fine. My husband got a burrito and finished his meal. If you like a little excitement and party in your life, I highly recommend this place. Employees are friendly.

Today, same thing, the food was really good. My friend ordered the macaroni and cheese with pork belly, I tasted the mac and it was delicious! Instead of sending it back, I just ate half and brought the rest to go so I can cook and eat it later. Our waiter was great, I forget his name though, nice guy. So, when I arrived at 11:15am there was only one other couple seated. I walked in and said hello to the waitress (think her name was Sally), she gave me a very dry hello, I told her I was waiting for someone, she said they weren't there yet, sat me down for two, said something else but it was under her breath, I couldn't hear her, didn't feel very welcomed but it's okay. Our table had crumbs on it, my menu had crumbs on it. I was disappointed but honestly, I just wanted to have a good brunch with my friend so I cleaned it myself. I finally had a moment to take in the decor and it made me feel a little uneasy as I noticed a Hindu Buddha head, some scary dolls, sculptures and some weird decor going on, goats everywhere except one wall that had monkeys on it. Our waiter got us set up in a reasonable amount of time at a table that was a "little tacky" and by tacky I mean sticky (I did see someone wiping tables post meals). We ordered a couple margaritas because why not enjoy a frosty marg with tacos and the frozen lime one .... Definitely delivered on the booze. The chips and salsa were a big hit with the little yelper, and the salsa was a little runny for my Liking but it was definitely good. We started off with some nachos and this kinda set the tone for the rest of the meal. The queso on this dish was literally like a runny wet texture, most queso tends to be a lot thicker than this and the chicken was a touch bland, those chips had no chance with this queso, they all got a bit soggy in no time. We also had a heavy quantity of tacos ordered. 3 beef and 6 chicken. The beef tacos were pretty bland, as were the chicken tacos (dripping with water). But for $1 tacos I guess it wasn't too bad. I'm just guessing that the chicken is boiled because the amount of moisture was pretty decent. The beans carried the runny theme as well, with the rice being the most non soggy item we came across. Overall though it's $1 tacos, so we can't set the bar too high with them.

When it was time to order the bartender was legit not able to answer any of the questions that we had. Everything came out separately. Let's start with the appetizer. I had to ask multiple times to get chips and salsa. When I finally got it I ate it quickly becsuse I was starving and asked for more which I never received! My friend ordered corn and it legit never even came until her entree came out. One person got they steak while the other two of us hadn't gotten our food. When the bill came out there was a plethora of stuff on it that my friend did not have. Now as far as the food I throughly enjoyed vegan tacos.
