Pretty impressed! Decided to come here for Saturday lunch with my family and made a reservation…read moreonline at the last minute, but we would have been able to get in without. Without the patio open though, I can see it filling up easily. The atmosphere is fun (board games!) and bright but somewhat industrial with the distillery next door. The staff was friendly and very enthusiastic but just a little overbearing for me. The samples they brought around of two of their spirits (a gin and amaro) were very good and much appreciated. As appealing as the cocktails sounded, I didn't feel like drinking, so I got the Last Call mocktail. I couldn't pick up much 5 spice, but it was still a pleasant and refreshing light drink. I had a sip of my parents' old fashioned and Smokin' in the Girls' Room, and those were both really good - I was really into the lapsang souchong tea-infused rum in the Smokin' in the Girls' Room and would've ordered it for myself if I'd been drinking. To eat, I had a mushroom melt (the veganized version with vegan cheese) with the OMG fries. I really liked the sandwich; I loved the giardiniera and the jus, and you usually can't get that sort of thing in a vegetarian or vegan sandwich, so I was really happy to have it here and thought it was done well. The OMG fries were also really good. I don't like fries if they're plain, but these were heavily seasoned with a delicious spice blend. The vegan version of the fries omits the truffle aioli that they normally come with, but they were plenty flavorful with just ketchup. We shared a Thai tea creme brulee for dessert. I am crazy about Thai tea so I expected to like this, and it was everything I hoped for. The tea flavour was nice and strong, and the tapioca pearls were a nice little enhancement. They do an auto-gratuity of 20% no matter the party size, which I'm not completely opposed to, but I think if you're doing that you at least need to have a note on the menu rather than have the waiter tell you as they're giving you the bill, or better (in my opinion) to just raise the prices by 20% and sell yourself as a no-tipping restaurant. But it wasn't a huge deal in this situation; our waitress was good and we would've left a good tip anyway.

I absolutely loved this place! I went with my best friend and we got the meatballs, deviled eggs,…read moreOMG fries, crème brûlée, steak sandwich and chicken piccata. We had such a great time and the staff was amazing. It was really cute inside and we had an absolute blast. They even offer mocktails for people who don't drink, aka: us!!

Altitude Bar & Lounge - Altitude Bar & Lounge at Terre Haute

Well Dang! When you are here you certainly do NOT think you are in Terre Haute anymore!…read more Came here after a work event really just to check it out. When I walked in I asked where it was and the security staff told me to go to the 10th floor. You have to walk through the hotel part and go up. Once you get off I promise you, you feel that you are no longer in Terre Haute. I honestly felt like I was in Charlotte, NC. The view is insane looking at the greenery of what makes Indiana so pretty in the summer time (I can't wait to go back during fall to take in the view then too). The music was a total vibe. It was R&B, Chill POP (is that a thing, don't know how else to describe). There is an outdoor patio area where there was a guy playing live music and people sitting on couches relaxing and watching while enjoying a cocktail. I sat at the bar because I was by myself and certainly didn't want to take up an entire couch and leave that for others that may have larger parties. As soon as I sat down my server came to take my order. While I wasn't really planning to eat, once I looked at the menu the Chicken Nachos were calling my name. Even though I am counting calories, I had to order. Man, when they came out they were huge and so so good. You can order the chicken blackened which I did and man it was great. I just sat and enjoyed my very caloric nachos and a cocktail and just really took it in. I don't live in Terre Haute, I live in Indianapolis, but I spend a ton of time in Terre Haute for work. At that moment, I felt proud. I felt proud of Terre Haute for making the investment and proud that they are attempting to change the city by offering things like this. I host client events for work and I am thinking of ways to host something fun here, so I will be back!

WOW! What an unexpected cool space for Terre Haute. And this is absolutely a 5 star Yelp spot by…read moreTerre Haute standards. More "lounge" than "bar" to me, the space is vast. Through the hotel lobby entrance, take a hard right and then another right to the elevator bank, up to the 10th floor. There is plenty of signage to tell you how to find Altitude. A greeter is at the podium to offer a friendly welcome. We are actually not going to have a drink nor something to eat (note that they do offer food in addition to adult beverages). My aging parents and I simply want to walk around and see the space. And what a great space. Navy, white, golds and gray....sofas, bar seating, cream curtains, loads of windows, giant patio. I liked that the greeter was open and welcoming for us to simply walk around...and he was nice to my older parents who were moving slow. Thinking to myself that this place is more dressed up than dressed down, I am quick to remember this is Terre Haute. I think you could get away with a spectrum of clothing. Save the crappy cut offs and flip flops for another place, but I am certain they would not turn you away at the door. But with that, for a dressed up girls night out or a romantic spot in jeans with someone you love, this spot would be excellent. What a view and a what a patio! Now it is June and at 6:45pm as we are outside on this patio to take in the view, there is little shade, it is a bit warm and the sun is glaring to a person like myself that shuns the sun. But what a great space. Very open and spacious, some hightop tables, but mostly very tasteful outdoor sofas and chairs, with fire-pit coffee tables. Heat lamps are about and I know this space will be a hit at the perfect shoulder months of cool Spring nights and crisp Fall evenings. Full views south, West and North of the Vigo county area. This space in general is definitely a step up in the coolness factor for places to get a drink in this town. I give Altitude a 5 on Yelp and I am yet to have a drink. I'm optimistic that the bone dry Tito's martini with olives I will order on my next visit will match the ambiance we took in. And if they have blue cheese stuffed olives to boot, my cup will runnith over. I will come back.

Everything was amazing here! Nicest restaurant I've been to in a while. I made a reservation with…read moremy parents for Friday evening which I would recommend doing because it was very busy. We loved the atmosphere though - the building is kind of interesting and the decoration was very classy. Maybe the main area was a little loud, but we ended up seated in a semi-private room with one other table, so we had relative quiet. It was dim but not in a bad way. All of the staff was very friendly. Our waiter was attentive and enthusiastic but didn't come across as trying to upsell us. Drinks were excellent. I usually just go for beer, but the cocktail menu looked really interesting, so I got a cocktail was very glad I did. I got the rye-based "boss fight", which was very strong with unique, complex flavours. I also had many sips of my dad's earl grey cocktail - also very interesting and delicious - and my mom's "problem child" with non-alcoholic gin. They have a really nice non-alcoholic drink menu with different NA spirits too. Food was equally excellent. We got the muhammara appetizer, I had the butternut agnolotti for my entreee, and we shared a chocolate and a vanilla-cranberry bread pudding for dessert. My dad said the muhammara was one of the best dips he's ever had. The middle eastern flavour was a little different from stuff you usually get at American restaurants, and it was presented very nicely with different garnishes. The blue cheese cream sauce on the agnolotti was also a little different and really complimented the flavour of the squash. The bread pudding may have been the best bread pudding I've had in a restaurant - it was very moist but wasn't too sweet or too rich. The chocolate cake was kind of like an oreo cake with the thick vanilla frosting and cookie crumbs - not your generic chocolate cake with white frosting, but conventional enough that I think it would make anyone happy. Maybe the portions of the entrees alone are a little small, but I think they were the right size to enjoy along with a shared appetizer and dessert. Considering that, the prices are okay for upscale dining.

We knew the food would be good because the menu was small- Hats Off to Exacutuve Chef Matthew Smits!!! Becky got the 'Chicken' and loved the savory broth and decadent cilantro(?) sproutes. The chicken VERY juicy too! I got the Fulaful- I don't even know what that is, but I felt adventerous! I loved the orange sweet potatoes and Pistashio Nuts, and the savory Spinach was incredible! The feta cheese on the fulafel got swallowed by all the other flavors, but an incredible meal none theless!! Keep up the GREAT COOKING!!!
