When we went in we were seated pretty quickly. The place looks like it could use some improvement (it's in an old Wendy's building) but they have done an okay job with what they have. If you don't mind loud locals (good for people watching/knowing all their business even if you don't want to) and not being able to hear whoever you came with it might be the place for you. We started off with chips, salsa, and a small side of queso. Chips were fresh! Salsa lacked flavor and was pretty watery. Queso somehow felt and tasted watered down too. We both ordered some form of taco salads. They were good. I felt they needed a little more seasoning and the portion was smaller than we both expected. We also ordered a beef burrito and a chicken tamale. The tamale never came and the beef burrito was bland and the beef inside was so salty. We had a take out order. Staying in the hotel behind the restaurant. We fed 4 adults and 2 kids just under $100.00 We ordered no drinks. Everyone enjoyed their meals. No leftovers. We ordered grilled Chime Chonga no rice double beans, Burrito Acpulca, Burrito Degollado, loaded pineapple dinner special, 2 children's taco meals, cheese dip and Salsa. I ordered a degallado (sp)burrito. The meat was overcooked and I had 3 shrimp pieces, the rice and beans had an odd taste. The frozen Margherita was not very frozen and too sweet. A $1.88 upcharge was added for flavors which I did not see on the menu pricing. Tax added to the bill was 8%. Indiana sales tax is 7%. We had spent a fun but very hot day with friends at their property at Cataract Falls and we were starving by the time we arrived for dinner. We were seated immediately at a booth and social distancing was being practiced with every other table/booth closed. Our server was prompt, answered menu questions, very polite and friendly. Everyone ordered drinks, chips and salsa was delivered and our queso arrived moments after we ordered. The queso was warm and creamy and our first and second basket of chips with salsa disappeared almost immediately. Each of us enjoyed our dinner of Steak Fajita Nachos, Shrimp Quesadillas, Steak Burrito and Enchildas stuffed with shrimp and crab. No one was disappointed and noted we'd be back. While driving across the country, I randomly stopped by this place while getting off an exit to fill gas. Somehow, this is the best Mexican food I have had anywhere, and I have lived in Los Angeles for 4 years. Specifically, get "The Cancun" platter - it's so fresh and delicious and incredible. I was completing a conference call when I pulled into the parking lot and three different employees came out if the back foot to stare at me. I was seated quickly ordered a beer and brought salsa and chips. The salsa was peppery but watery and tasted liked canned tomatoes. I ordered the shrimp fajita nachos minus beans add lettuce, guacamole and white cheese sauce. I got shrimp onions, bell peppers and a couple pieces of tomatoes very little cheese. Server checked back and asked how was it and I said not good. He said okay and walked away. I sipped a little of the beer and he came back asked if I was going to eat it and I said no. He took the plate and brought me a check. Absolutely horrendous. I rarely choose fast food over local when I travel but this time I spent $20 for three sips of Modelo and one shrimp. I don't normally leave negative for restaurants trying, but they just don't care about anything but collecting their money. We were driving through a heavy storm and were hungry. Starting with the bathroom, patched up horribly, dirty, hot water didn't work, just image the worst. The table was nasty, sticky.. The waiter was nice. We order our drinks and queso w/ chorizo. While we waited the waiter brought chips and what they call salsa. The chips were stale and the salsa tasted like a cheap store bought with ketchup added. not good at all. We got the queso w/ chorizo dip. The bowl was just under half full, and that's not the worse part. Queso was runny like water and the chorizo wasn't chorizo, it was regular sausage. The dip tasted nasty and again chips were stale. We told the waiter to just take it back. He came back and said "was it the chips" we answered "no it was nasty tasting." he said "it tasted good to me." Not to us... We got our main dish. Steak fajitas nachos. They were eatable. They took the dip off the bill which was good because $9 for something that wasn't good at all would have been BS. The Cokes and nachos are the only reason I would give them 1 star. Not exactly sure how anyone could give anything other than a four star for this restaurant! The food is so good, the prices are extremely fair, and the staff are very nice. I have eaten a ton of Mexican food and know my stuff when it comes to food flavors. They start you with yummy toasty chips and a delicious salsa. I always enhance the starter but getting a side of queso too! The queso is so dang good! The have many different entrees to choose from, but all are very good. I pretty much order the same thing every time I come here. It's either a steak quesadilla or a chicken quesadilla. Both I always get with extra cheese of course. My lady always gets the enchilada order, which is also delicious. They also get mega props for having cherry Pepsi as well! Our meals always end up costing less than 25 bucks. Food is very good, but the male wait staff ignored me from the minute I walked in. When I finally got seated the waiter took my drink order and then impatiently wanted to take my order. I ordered fajitas and they were awesome. I had no silverware and had to ask 2 waiters to bring me some. I sat there 10 minutes picking at the fajitas with my fingers. Tortillas were not brought out with my dinner and again I asked for some and waited. My waiter never came over to find out how everything was, again I had to flag him down to get a soda refill. Very good. We are moving from TX and are pretty harsh Tex mex critics. The margarita sizes are a bit obscene. The menu is huge and diverse. My 5 and 6 year old enjoyed as well. However, despite how small it is, it's not bad looking on the inside and has some festive decor. There's not a bar area like I'm used to with Mexican restaurants, but they do have a full bar selection. I always make it a point to try a margarita, and I wasn't disappointed here at all. The salsa was pretty good, and not too spicy for those sensitive to spice. Mine and my husband's food came out pretty quickly and it was amazing. I got the spinach and mushroom quesadilla and it had amazing flavor. It also came with heaping mounds of guacamole and sour cream, so it was well worth the price.
