No pastry sold by Paper Son at this location unlike the Soma location! If you're looking for salt bread, they do not have that. Pastry is sold by a separate cafe that they share the same shop with. The drinks are great and reasonably priced. I like how you can customize the sweetness of the matcha and hojicha. They're quick to make the drinks. There are seats outside that you can sit on. No indoor seats. read more

Was I the area so I made a stop and ordered some drinks to take home. Street parking is available, but during busy hours you might need to drive around the block a few times. There are a few tables and chairs outside where you can sit and enjoy your drinks. My barista was friendly, knowledgeable about their drinks, and very attentive. I told her I was bringing the drinks home, and she was nice enough to leave out the ice so they wouldn't get diluted before I got back. read more

Dogpatch location, in a shared space with neighbor bake house. Able to order drinks at the coffee window or bakery line. Love the Thai tea cloud ($6.50), strong flavor. Americano pandan ($6.50), definitely needs more pandan flavor, looks like you can just ask the barista for more pandan flavor (did not realize when ordering), but it was okay. Unfortunately, the drinks took some time, went slightly out of order since a few groups of customers in line after us receive orders before us. A fantastic place to pick up Asian fusion drinks and pastries! They have some great flavors and twists on traditional drinks and bites. Note that this space is actually a combination of 2 businesses in partnership with Neighbor Bakehouse, where Paper Sons specializes in coffee while Bakehouse provides the pastries (both vegetarian and meat options). Cha siu: 10/10 my favorite thing to get here! Salty, sweet meat in a layered pastry nicely paired with pickled cabbage. Ube croissant: 7/10 delicious and sweet! Maybe a bit sweeter than I would have liked. I would have liked it to have a stronger ube and less sugary taste. Savory curry potato pastry: 7/10 this one is more on the dry potato side than a true curry filling. Guava tonic coffee: 7/10 sparkling, tart, and earthy. Not bad! This might be more of an acquired taste. Was not too sweet. Thai Tea Cloud: 8/10 I love Thai tea, this one errs on the sweeter side though. I was standing in line for Neighbor Bakehouse and seems like this was a little coffee shop connected to it, with it's own separate line and window. I liked that while standing in line for the pastries, you can scan the QR code to place an order for your drinks so that you don't have to wait in two lines. I tried their passionfruit espresso tonic as I thought it sounded like a unique combo. Definitely was an interesting flavor and it took a few sips for me to get used to it, but after I wrapped my head around it, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I came here during my lunch break today. This is located in Dogpatch, and it occupies the same space as Neighbor Bakehouse. You can either order online or at the window. I loooove pandan, so I really wanted to try their pandan coffee. I ordered an iced latte with oat milk and added pandan syrup. There wasn't anyone else waiting when I was there, so my drink was ready within minutes. When the barista handed me my drink, they said they can adjust and add more pandan if I wanted, which I thought was very nice of them to offer. The drink was very good, but I did ask for more pandan. Like I said, I love pandan, so I wanted a strong pandan flavor. The drink was delicious. It was probably one of the best pandan coffees I've had. It was sweet, but I didn't think it was so sweet that it ruined the drink. I will definitely come back here in the future! read more

Tried the pandan aerocano & got a hot oat milk cardamom latte. The aerocano barely tasted of pandan and the roast on the bean was extremely acidic to the point where I could not drink it. Our oat milk latte was very watery, and they completely forgot the cardamom. Not sure if this was an off day but I won't be back. read more

9/6/25 - I randomly saw Paper Son Coffee on the way to Sōhn and decided to go here instead! I actually had been wanting to go here, but never knew where it was. It's such a cute cafe with delicious ginger pull apart pastry! I thought their guava pillow was really pretty and interesting, but idk if I'd drink it again. It wasn't bad, but is not something I'd go get every time. I think the fizzy drink + coffee was really unique! The employees were so nice too and I'd love to try the other location with Tano too! read more

Paper Son was on SF Chronicle's best coffee in the Bay list and the Pandan Aerocano sounded delicious so I decided to stop by. It's a window shared with Neighbor Bakeshouse which is super cool. Got some baked goods while I was there Ordered the Pandan Aerocano and a Cardamom Latte. Aerocano was really unique, had the smoothness of a nitro cold brew in the form of an iced americano. Wish the Pandan flavor was a bit stronger though, see Kopiku for a very nice Pandan flavor in coffee. But that would be the one thing that i would have changed. Latte was solid, nice cardamom flavor and the espresso shined through as well. Not my top coffee spot in sf, but definitely worth a try! I love the oat matcha latte here at Paper Son which is the perfect amount of bitterness from the matcha and creaminess from the oat milk. I always come back for it and it's such a nice afternoon pick me up on a sunny day! The menu is full of asian inspired lattes and caffeinated drinks - guava coffee soda is another one of my favorites if you want something sweet without any milk. Definitely check out Paper Son in Dogpatch or their other location in SoMA. read more

I have been here a few times and liked my experiences here each time. I've gotten one of their specialties, the Pandan Aerocano, which was fun to try, and interesting. I don't think I am a fan though. I personally just thought it was a little too sweet. I did recently get their regular iced Americano, which was perfect - got me the perfect caffeine buzz after the lunch food coma on a nice day. The service is friendly. I will say though that I do have to wait a bit before ordering each time I come here, though. I'm not sure if it's them being short staffed or what. It will take a few minutes to get my drink, even though I feel like I ordered the low-maintenance ones that don't require much concoction. The place is always quite busy though, with people waiting for their drinks in the sun-soaked patio (no shade is what I'm trying to hint). It does feel nice to get some Vit D on my lunch break though. All my coworkers and I frequent the place, which I think is a good sign in it itself. read more

Words cannot describe the love that I feel for Paper Son Coffee. The Asian fusion flavors are unmatched!!! My #1 favorite is the Lilikoi (passionfruit) espresso tonic. I also love the espresso tonic with the guava cloud + the pandan latte!! Every time I've been here, the staff has been exceptionally kind and friendly, and I love how cute their little storefront is. Been meaning to try this place out, and now I'm wondering why I never made the stop before the gym. Ordered the Pandan Aerocano which was soooo good. Pandan flavor wasn't super strong, kinda wish I tasted more of it, but as far as the coffee itself, YUM. Perfect amount of sweet, espresso was not overly acidic & paired well with the Pandan. Also got the passionfruit espresso tonic. I love espresso tonics & usually get orange espresso tonics elsewhere, the passionfruit was a nice touch. Will definitely be back!!! read more

* date visited: 11.03.2024 * ordered: pandan aerocano the flavor of the pandan in this drink is so good -- nutty, not too sweet, and accurate. however, i think the addition of the espresso leaned a tad too acidic and dry from me, which didn't match the creamy texture of the drink in my mind. i would love to return and try their other popular drinks, or maybe just get the house made pandan syrup in a latte! i can tell the owners care a lot and the espresso itself was great. server was knowledgeable about the beans and very friendly :) read more

I didn't really enjoy it since it tasted like just nutty milk and I felt like it wasn't a true pandan latte experience. We made the trip out to try this place in a weekday morning. We placed orders through the app and was expecting the drinks to be ready in no time, but then we found out we're supposed to check in and then they will begin making the drinks. Seems kind of pointless to order through the app then, right? I specifically came here because we heard they have pandan drinks. I wish I did more research as I think I would have liked a pandan latte (which is not explicitly listed as an option on their menu) over an aerocano because I prefer creamy espresso/coffee drinks. I couldn't taste any pandan in the aerocano, even after getting another shot of syrup from the barista. My friend who got the Thai drink also was disappointed in how it was just kind of meh. Maybe this place is more for serious coffee drinkers who want light flavor additions. Limited seating outside the window and the tables and chairs are dinky. Some chairs are broken and the table has a lot of gaps, making it a challenge to keep everything on the table. read more

Visited for the first time today. Ordered the Pandan Aerocano and an ube twice-baked croissant. The ube croissant was absolutely delicious - crispy, flaky, not overly sweet, with great ube flavor. But the Pandan Aerocano was disappointing. Not sure whether I'm just not a fan of the combination or it needed more pandan flavoring (it did taste better towards the bottom of the cup). The Asian-coffee fusion offerings are intriguing enough that I'll probably come back to try it at least one more time. Something other than the pandan drink. read more

Stopped in here to treat myself to some caffeine after the gym. I was torn between the guava cloud and the pandan coffee, but I ended up going with the guava. It's super refreshing and I loved the slight sourness that the juice gives to the "coffee soda", which is coffee mixed with club soda. Customer service was great! The girl let me try a sample of their pandan and cardamom syrup. Never tried these flavors so I'm glad I was able to stop by! Such a cute little coffee shop! A lot of outside seating since there weren't any seats inside. There's a pastry store next door that had incredible selections. The Pandan latte was decent... originally didn't have enough Pandan flavor, then the barista overheard me saying that and he offered to add more Pandan syrup. It still was not the best drink I've had... nothing noteworthy about this place but I would give it another try. The one good thing is that you can order online instead of at the register. Cute little hole in the wall with minimal seating. If I ever come back, I hope their coffee is brewed well. Overall good service but subpar drinks. read more

I ordered the pandan aerocano while I was waiting in line for Neighbor Bakehouse. The pandan aerocano was more on the acidic side. Very subtle if any taste of pandan. However, they did say you can request for more pandan syrup if wanted. The coffee was so creamy and smooth which I didn't expect from something without milk. Super smart concept because you can order while you wait for bakeries in the same space and have it done when you get the pastries. read more

Went on a Saturday around 11:30am and it was pretty busy. There is outside seating but pretty limited depending on how busy it is. Drinks ordered: Pandan Aerocano (8/10): the pandan flavor was strong but the coffee was too. I'm not much of a coffee drinker so it was too strong and acidic for me but still good overall. Saw this place when I was waiting in line for baked goods and decided to check it out. Thai tea cloud - the drink was 60% tea and then 20% cloud so I was a little disappointed it wasn't more full considering the price point. The Thai tea was sweeter than expected but the cloud was very creamy. Pandan latte - I asked if it was possible to do a Pandan latte because I saw Pandan syrup in another drink and they said yes. This is a must get! This Pandan syrup is a little more grassy than other ones I've had but I really enjoyed it. This latte was not too sweet which I liked. read more

There is indoor and outdoor seating; I was able to grab an empty spot late in the morning on a weekend, but I don't think seating is always readily available. It's not a huge space.

This is one of the first coffee shops I've been to where you can actually taste the notes in the coffee beans. Like somehow the flavors weren't diluted or reduced. The Flat White was well made and the Iced Vanilla Paste Latte was smooth and bold with the vanilla paste adding a deeper richness and aromatic sweetness that was super enjoyable. Such a wonderful spot!

The layered coffee / espresso cake is excellent, just the right amount of coffee, sweetness and cream. It's subtly sweet and just the right harmony of bite through the layers. It's a little small portioned but love the sleek rectangular slice. They often have seasonal, Asian inspired flavors such as sesame Kouign Amann. For holidays, order ahead, and arrive early. Saint Frank ended up being the highlight of my most recent SF trip for GDC. I had been meaning to…read morego for years, and it lived up to it. I went to the Folsom St location and, honestly, it was one of the most accessible coffee shops I've been to, especially in SF. Very wheelchair friendly, including a clean bathroom, and the space was big enough that even once it got busy I didn't feel in the way. Also appreciated that it wasn't all high tops and tall seating. Coffee was very good. We did the flight, which was a fun way to taste how differently the same bean could show up. Pastries were good too. I got my Dandelion fix with a cookie, and the ham and cheese croissant was solid. Also took beans home and made a really tasty pour over. Definitely on my must-visit-again list.
