Came in today with my mom & we were the first to order so no line so loved that it was quick. I got my usual order of 3 spring rolls all nem (: Traditional citrus sauce & spicy sauce are my favorite go to options for dipping! Got the lychee limeade & strawberry limeade both super refreshing & delicious! All the employees were super sweet & personable. So they made the visit easy! Hmmm. I've been to the Pasadena location many times and service there is always great, fast, efficient and everything tastes fresh. This location I guess is still figuring it out i suppose. Both times I've been to this location the service has been just ok, nothing special. Notably, I went in one evening and one of the employees was using his phone WITH HIS GLOVES ON, TWICE and then proceeded to make someone's door dash order, basically contaminating everything he was touching. I had to ask him to change his gloves because he was just about to finish rolling my rolls (thankfully i got all the toppings I needed before he dipped his gloves into the toppings). The manager? saw and didn't seem to care and wasn't really apologetic about the situation. this threw me off. I was super excited about this location since it's so close to home, I think I'll give them a few months to figure it out before I return. read more

We came here to try their vegan options after waiting for this location to open up in Azusa, since we can walk from our house. We had seen the menu online for the Pasadena location, but had never eaten there. When we arrived around mid day on a Saturday (after being open 1-2 days at that point), it was empty, but while we ate, several parties trickled in. We were initially surprised when we went to order the BÁNH MÌ and Spring Bowl with tofu, and were told that the way the tofu is prepared contained honey, but the more experienced woman working let us know they can prepare a separate batch of tofu for us with soy sauce . They proceeded to make the BÁNH MÌ in the back kitchen and with the remaining tofu I ordered my Spring Bowl with rice, mixed greens, carrots, cucumber, sprouts, sesame seeds, and peanut sauce; I wanted to get an order of spring rolls as well, but I did not let them know when they initially prepared the tofu in the back, so they only prepared enough for the sandwich and the bowl. When we went to pay, we were also given a complimentary vegan sauce (I believe it was the citrus one), which my husband used for his sandwich since it didn't have any sauce (since it usually comes with Mayo). He said next time he'd get the peanut sauce as well, in addition to the citrus one to have dipping options. I thought my Spring Bowl tasted great and my husband enjoyed his BÁNH MÌ overall. We ordered an unsweetened black tea and pineapple guava juice (half and half), and a lychee lemonade; I loved the lychee lemonade; my husband said that maybe he would mix the tea with lychee lemonade for an even better mixed drink (a Lychee Arnold Palmer). We ate inside by the window to people watch; I love it when restaurants have seating facing the window to people watch. Overall, everyone was very nice, welcoming, and accommodating. My only suggestion is to have the tofu marinate be vegan not just vegetarian, as honey can be replace by agave nectar, pure maple syrup, date syrup, or vegan honeys made from apples. read more

I've been waiting for Paper Rice to open for a while and followed them via IG. So when I saw they were having a soft opening yesterday, my dinner plans were set!! It was a bit of a nightmare for parking since Azusa had the farmer's market going on but we parked across the street by the rite aid. Think of Paper Rice as the Chipotle of Vietnam, you pick your base, your protein, your veggies, your toppings and your sauce! Everything was soo good, super light, fresh crunchy veggies. Loved the grilled shrimp, and my nem was delicious and almost as good as my mom's The BF got the sautéed salad and it was soo good, the warm dressing, grilled beef and shrimp. Paper Rice is a Vietnamese Cuisine located on Foothill in Azusa. This cuisine has a vast selection of Vietnamese-style breads and spring rolls, along with appetizers. The spring rolls and bread are freshly made when ordered. There is plenty of parking located inside the structure. The staff there were nice, friendly, and enthusiastic. Brianna was extremely helpful and friendly when providing services. I purchased xoi chien, which is the crispy sticky rice patty with minced pork and vegetables inside and shrimp egg rolls shown in this picture. I also love the guava lychee drink that they have there. The ambience of the restaurant is chill and relax. They have both inside and outdoor tables for dinning. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place ! I love a build your own situation and the fact that the quality of everything is so good and so fresh is amazing. i've been going to the pasadena location for the last few years and am SO happy that they opened a location closer to me. I personally love their fried tofu spring rolls and the shrimp. something about the crispy eggroll inside is delish. I love Paper Rice and I'm so happy this location opened! Only a few blocks from my house, I don't have to drive to Pasadena all the time. Same great ingredients you're used to and all the delicious sauces. I've had all the proteins here and they are all great, at least 1 nem every time is a must though! Always yes to the crispies! My go to place when I go to Pasadena for Vietnamese roll is close to work. I got my usual order of the three rolls. This time I got chicken, nem, and shrimp. When I responded in the affirmative they let me know that their citrus sauce is fish based so they put in a vegan citrus sauce just in case. Perfect customer service. I will be back often. Saw that this place was almost done moving in and finally my wife and I came to try it out. Parking was easy to find and free and there was no line. The food was quick and delicious! We got 3 spring rolls (lemongrass chicken, beef, and garlic shrimp) with the house mix of veggies and all the toppings. We chose the citrus fish sauce for our dipping and it was amazing! We also got 2 Banh Mi's, one with the backed nem and one with the pork belly. They were fantastic, the bread wasn't too crunchy and still soft. Overall, still better than Mr Baguette and Lees Sandwiches. We also got the Lychee Limeade (amazing) and the Vietnamese coffee. Overall, I would definitely go again! The only grip I had was it was a touch expensive, after everything the food was about $60 with tip. read more

First time here and I ordered the spring rolls. I got one with baked nem, one tofu and one shrimp, and on all three the leafy lettuce, cucumber, cilantro and pickled carrots, "the mix" topping, and the savory peanut sauce. I also tried the bánh bò nướng (the pandan mochi cake). I really enjoyed my meal. I think most of the time I've had spring rolls premade, which are still good, but I really enjoyed trying the different proteins and the freshness of the fillings. This is a delicious, light meal to have on a hot day. I felt full but not stuffed. The pandan cake was also delicious and not overly sweet. If you arent familiar with pandan it has a coconut flavor to it. I couldn't finish it all along with the spring rolls so I saved some for later. I parked in a nearby lot behind Max's Mexican cuisine and Momo lashes. I like how they constructed and wrapped the spring rolls very well and you can tell a lot of thought went into the details like the packaging. My only suggestion is that they look at the tab closure design of the takeout box the rolls come in because it likes to pop open. The employees were efficient and pleasant. I still enjoy going to the mom-and-pop vietnamese restaurants around but this is a different experience and it's fun to customize the menu items to your liking and try new fillings. Saw that there was a build your own spring roll, spring bowl and they have banh mi in Azusa and just had to try it out ! Great location and place is very clean. Few seats inside but there is outdoor seating as well. Service was great, they were very friendly and explained everything to us. My friend ordered a build your own spring bowl and we could see all the meat choices and they all looked delicious. From the beef, the chicken, pork belly, shrimp, and nem... we wanted to try them all. My friend was able to pick 2 meats and she chose the shrimp and beef. She said they were so tender and flavorful. She was able to build her bowl with the type a noodle or rice and customize her veggies to her liking. I got a banh mi with the pork belly and it was soo satisfying. I loved the crispy bread with the fresh veggies just complimented the meat perfectly. The skinny shrimp rolls were soo crunchy and delicious. Can't wait to come back and try more items! read more

I had to come back and request to get it diluted with water and ice which made no difference it was so strong it was disgusting and threw it in the trash Never again! read more
