I went to Paper Place when I needed help designing my wedding invitations. I'm having a destination wedding, so I wanted something fun but still a little bit formal. Liz was totally amazing. She showed me a couple different themes that seemed very "beachy" and then helped me completely personalize the ones I wanted. The turn-around time for my invitations was really fast, and I got tons of compliments on how beautiful my invitations looked. When I needed 10 more invitations than I originally ordered, another person that worked there, Kim, still had my proof and was able to make the additional invitations I needed. I highly recommend Paper Place if you want beautiful invitations with a personal touch. read more

Super adorable crafty/scrapbooky stuff inside, the kind that makes you want to buy out the store and pretend you are a professional scrapbooker. I have been in a few times before, never bought anything, but its fun to look. But this time I was on a mission: a few select colored 8.5X11 paper that I could shove in my printer. And this was the place to find it! I bought a total of 40 pages for a mere $5.80, which as it turned out is a bargain, even compared to (my beloved) Hobby Lobby. T'was a pleasant surprise, indeed. read more

This store makes even me, who rarely has delusions of owning my own stationary, go gaga for anything paper related. OK, rewind. I went here for my first ever business card-- very big deal for me. I sat, literally it felt like for hours looking through every different paper this store ever had and oohing and aahing a very obscene amount of times. Eventually I ended up with a pretty cool business card. Downsides: The examples of the business cards they have available are misleading. They first tell you they charge a flat rate for a certain amount of business cards. Then they have an art fee for any graphics, a paper fee depending on which ones you choose and then several additional mysterious, but apparently equally important charges. The fancy schmancy cards they display are Waaaaay beyond anyones budget and were the ones that originally made me interested. When I found out they werent available at the price I thought, I was more then a little let down. That being said, the staff is friendly and helpful and the choices are endless. I wouldn't go there for business cards again, but the endless paper products certainly are enough to brighten anyones day. read more

Went here today for "stationery" type paper to do pen palling and got a pretty good deal on ~60 sheets of paper and a pen. I went in and after wandering around for a few seconds one of the workers who was standing around filing through something did a double take and decided to greet me and ask if I needed help. I told her what I was looking for "stationery type paper for writing letters, but not plain" and she pointed me to another row of plain paper ... I tried to explain myself but she ended up pointing me in the direction of paper that can be folded into envelopes...On my way "over there" (not really) I saw a bin of paper/envelopes/invitations not 10 feet from where she was leaning on the counter labeled 15 CENTS. So I stood there and did a little filing of my own. I found about 33 sheets, then went to the pen wall and tested a few pens on the long roll of paper set out for trying out the pens. While checking out, I saw ANOTHER unlabeled bin of paper at the register which the clerk said was also 15 CENTS so I got another 30 sheets. So for under $12 I got a pen and enough stationery-type paper to last for a really long while. read more

I'm not much of a shopper, but this place gets me, and it gets me good. They have a great selection of all the kinds of school supplies and paper products I've loved since I was a nerdy kid. Pens? Out the wazoo. Gel, metallic, roller ball, fountain, you name it. They have tons of paper stocked in tons of colors for any purpose you could think. They have a small but really really really great collection of gift wrap that is pricey but really hard to resist. Overall, everything's awesome and expensive and you don't need it but you want it. I love you, Paper Place. read more

Thank heavens for The Paper Place. I thought I had a brilliant idea earlier in the day, amid wrangling invitation design, format, and layout concepts. "I'll just go to Kinko's and print a proof. Maybe they'll even have some decent paper selection and I can do it all there." I knew better. An hour later, I had 2 pieces of mediocre-looking cardstock that had been overprinted a few times (the attendant didn't know which way to feed paper through the machine), a stupid $2 charge on my debit card for the proofs, only a vague idea of how much the cost per printed page would be at the end, and a headful of regretful inner monologue. I immediately headed over to the Paper Place, where I breathed a deep sigh of relief when I was greeted at the door, and later stood in relieved awe before the literal WALL OF PAPER that they have for the perfect manifestation of your project. An attendant walked me through the options for my invitation project, wrote up a quote, and even offered for me to take the paper samples home! For FREE!! The Paper Place could teach Kinko's a thing or two about professionalism, customer service, and how to keep people coming back. The Paper Place reminded me today that when you go local, you may pay a little more but it is almost always more pleasant. read more

First let me say that customer service is everything! I walked in and was immediately greeted by the young girl at the counter she was very sweet. Then while walking around I was asked if I needed help, by another employee. All the ladies were very helpful took time to speak to me and gave me suggestions of other places to find what I needed. The store is very big and lots of choices definitely a great place to go. Unlike a smaller paper store here in Austin that was unfriendly. Never acknowledged me and didn't even ask if I needed help with anything. read more

I love this place, I really do. I have been coming here over the years for stationary, paper for resumes and just general cute stuff. I now have had the pleasure of getting invitations made here. I walked in kind of wondering around and the lovely Jennifer asked if I needed anything. Yes, please. I vaguely described what I thought I needed and she had me have a seat and went right to work designing the invitations I so desired. The ordering process was so simple and I was sent a proof as promised by the end of the week. I made a few changes and also as promised, my order was ready for pick up the following Monday (it took a week total for whole process). My invitations are beautiful. Gold and peacock blue. I absolutely adore them. Jennifer was so helpful and thoughtful and dang good at her job. I am so thankful she was available to help me! read more

Love Love LOVE! Liz @ PP did my wedding invites and literally every single person I invited to my wedding has complimented them. OK, exaggeration but I couldn't be happier with her and her team's creativity, design capabilities, attention to detail and ability to guide the meetings / process. Paper Place is a definite must for wedding invites and other party invitations. Affordability ranges and depends on what you're looking for. Smock letterpress multi-piece invites are not bargain basement cheap but well-worth the cost. You can't go wrong with Paper Place. Trust me. My 250 wedding guests agree. read more

I needed to make a shot book for a friends 21st birthday party. The cardstock they had was great quality and the colors were amazing. I even got a gold metallic one. They also had great stick on letters. I was very satisfied. The total amount was about $15 for a yellow, pink, light pink, and metallic gold cardstock and 2 types of stick ons. I had a very specific sized paper I need so they gladly cut it to the proper proportions for me. read more

love it! I have so many awesomely cute gifts here. The staff is super friendly. I love the array of unexpected and quirky gift ideas. Admittedly, I end up just buying stuff for myself half the time. I have never bought invitations here personally but have looked through and was amazed by the fount of possibilities. read more

I can't write or say enough great things about this particular stationary shop. My fiancee and I went in to just tentatively search for wedding invitations and came out two hours later with everything taken care of. Without an appointment, a store manager literally sat with us and walked us through everything we needed. She was courteous, patient, kind, and diligent. Most importantly, everything came out looking absolutely gorgeous: our invitations were exactly as they had been described and required no extra editing, after being given two proofs. Highly recommended, even at a premium cost. read more

Trash. Straight trash. This place of business is absolutely horrible in tricking you in prices because god forbid you ask for something printed.... and am quoted one price but once finding out it's for a wedding they decide to charge you double. You should be ashamed of yourself.... especially during a pandemic. For shame..... if I could leave a longer review I would but you don't deserve those words. read more

The Paper Place is fantastic. I come here all the time to find unique gifts and cards - you cannot beat their selection! Their prices are not dirt cheap, but I don't think they are outrageously expensive either. You can find such wonderful things here! I also ordered my wedding invitations here (2 years ago) and the store was incredible. Everyone I spoke with was helpful, understanding, and didn't get annoyed when I asked 10,000 questions about timing, color, payment, paper choices, etc. I would even venture to say that the Paper Place was the best vendor I worked with for my wedding. Do not hesitate to come here for your invitations. They have an INCREDIBLE selection and you don't need an appointment to browse the books. I don't remember the prices being unreasonable either, so that's a plus! read more

I love this place. I wish I had more need for stationary, and other paper products, because the stuff in here is so cute! You can also buy tissue paper by the sheet which is nice. I hate it when you end up with one or two random sheets of tissue paper from a package that will never be used again. I love their gift wrapping selection. There is a wide variety of unique wrapping paper to choose from. The service I recieved here was great, so I don't know what these other people are talking about. My only complaint is that it is a little pricey, but I suppose that's what you pay for quality and variety. Highly recommended for all your gift wrapping, invitations, thank you notes, and other papery needs. read more

Love Love Love the Paper Place! A self confessed stationary/ office supply addict- I was really impressed by how many different options they offer-- picked up some pretty fresh thank you notes. Plus got some customized styrofoam cups for a little party later in the week! the staff is super nice and helpful--I could spend HOURS in this place. read more

I worked with Diana at Paper Place to create my wedding invitations. She was super helpful and knowledgeable. She was patient and professional in assisting us with every step of the process. She ensured that all our aesthetic, budget, and time line goals were met. I was impressed by the amount of detail and thought she put into making sure our end product was absolutely perfect. Every email or question I had was answered quickly and professionally. Paper place offers every option you could dream of and Diana went above and beyond to make sure our vision came to life. I highly recommend Paper Place and Diana for all your custom stationary needs. They're the absolute BEST in town! read more

I came here trying to find some cool gift wrap, and left with a lot of fun papers. They have some nice solid wraps from wastenotpaper, and also some wild patterns, like sushi, superheroes, and sneakers. The salespeople were nice and helpful. I wish they carried more letterpress cards. Other than that, it's a nice local store with a decent selection. read more

I really like coming here to buy card stock so I can make my own birthday cards or any type. They also make custom cards or invites... So yes i'll be making many more trips to come. Since my last review I ordered my wedding invitations, and I am absolutely impressed at how far out of their way the staff has gone to make me a happy customer. I ordered a design online, and they were extremely helpful in fine-tuning it to perfection. The proofs came out beautifully, and they carefully explained all of the printing options. They even helped me pick the right calligraphy pen, and showed me how to use it so I didn't have to pay extra for a calligrapher! The staff is so friendly and sweet. All of them. I am really excited to see my ceremony programs when they are finished! read more

I worked with Sarah at Paper Place after I found one of their designs in a Wedding magazine. She was so sweet on the phone and was very helpful with my order -- even customizing it a little! I love Liz! I have worked with her over the past few months with all of wedding paper needs. She is incredibly attentive and detail-oriented. Paper Place assisted us with ordering our wedding invitations from William Arthur. There was a mistake made by WA, but Paper Place responded quickly and corrected the problem. We are now getting ready to order our escort cards, place cards, menus and ceremony programs from Paper Place. The staff are great to work with and reply quickly to emails. I highly recommend this company for any wedding needs! :) read more

Loved being in here. I could spend hours in this place! We originally waltzed in looking for some wedding invitation ideas as we wanted to create our own. And we are so glad we did. We bought our invitation paper and enveloped here. And we've been back periodically for other invites or card paper. This place definitely draws out your creative side. Inspiring atmosphere. read more

Every semester I train a team of interns, and when the semester ends there is a celebration event before they head off for their next adventure. This semester, I neglected to take care of the gifts for each intern, and found myself scrambling to solve this just 30 minutes before the luncheon. Our office is just a few blocks from Paper Place, so I thought I would give it a whirl. Thinking that if most girls are like me, they have an addiction to stationary and it would be a win win. I really had no ideas for what to get, and didn't just want to aimlessly wander .. I was on a time limit! I asked the consultant in the store for a bit of direction, and she was amazing! She found some really cute and personal items that I LOVED! Ultimately all of the interns loved their gifts, and I know that when they use them they will remember their time as our interns and that is just what I wanted. If you have not been to the store, you should absolutely GO! Grab your paper addict friends, get a coffee and browse the store a bit. I promise you will love it! read more

Worked with in our budget abs everything looked great when we picked it up. Couldn't of found the quality anywhere online!

Bullet Jounalist?? Their individual pen wall selection is not that great for Bullet journalists. So far, Jerry's Artarama is better selection of individual pens and high quality art brands. Hobby Lobby and Michaels mostly sell in packages. I like marker pens and I like buying each pen that I only need in whatever color I want and whatever nib sickness but I'm looking for at the time instead of buying full packages of marker pens that are expensive that I don't need! read more

Fantastic selection, great gifts, friendly staff though was what won me over. I had to buy a large quantity of paper product immediately for work. (Don't ask.) I knew the place might be a tad pricey but that the quality of their inventory justified the expense. I explained my situation to the woman at the back counter and she immediately began helping me. She knew what she had, and the price. I gather that unless you are ordering lots of invitations, most customers here aren't looking for inexpensive bulk envelopes. Theirs were great and all but the price just didn't make sense when buying such a large number. She conceded that without hesitation and gave me the name of a bulk paper supplier in town instead. She encouraged me to come back by sometime for myself and I know that I will. Helping a customer by directing them to a place better suited for their immediate need shows business ethics to me. I appreciate that immensely and will stop in the store again soon. read more

I went to Paper Place to purchase 5 pieces of nice paper. I asked an employee if she could cut the paper in half for me. The employee said "yes, it will but that will be .50/sheet and you can pick them up tomorrow". Seriously? The sheets of paper were $1/each and you want to chage me .50/sheet to cut a straight line AND it takes a DAY!! I could do that at Kinkos using their paper cutter in 5 seconds and not have to waste my gas and drive around the parking lot for 30 minutes looking for a spot to park. I ended up leaving with no purchase. FYI, parking is horrible. read more

I've always been a fan of this store's merchandise, so when I got engaged I was excited to utilize their custom design services for save-the-dates and wedding invitations. My fiance and I visited them to talk save-the-dates. We had a professional photo of ourselves that we wanted to use, and wanted their help to create an equally professional typesetting/print design for the text to accompany the photo. The visit went well enough. We went home with ideas and inspiration from the consultant we worked with, put together a mock-up of what we wanted in Powerpoint, and emailed it to the store for them to "make it pretty." Two weeks later I'd heard nothing, so I called the store. Was told that they were swamped with projects and that the designer is extremely busy, but we were scheduled in the designer's books for about one week later. The design was emailed to us as promised one week later - and it looked like the designer had spent maybe 10 minutes slapping text on top of our photo. Text placement wasn't in any of the places we requested, fonts were garish, and some details we'd requested were left off entirely. I requested changes and was told that we'd be charged another $60 for an additional round of design, on top of the $60 we'd already paid for a design that looked worse than what we threw together in Powerpoint. We ended up designing the entire save-the-date ourselves in Photoshop and just having Paper Place print it. When I went to the store to see the printed proof, they'd added false color to the edges of our image. They did this because I'd used the wrong size of bleed box - but they should have emailed me and requested a different size bleed box rather than taking liberties with adding cheap borders around the edges of our photo. When I said this to the consultant, she gave me an exasperated look and said "it will work out." And that was the moment I decided that we would definitely, definitely be ordering our wedding invitations, programs and all other wedding stationery elsewhere. The final product was completed about two weeks later than we originally hoped, and required MANY more hours of our time and effort than we wanted to contribute - this is the very reason we had elected to pay for a custom design in the first place. We went on to order $3500 worth of invitations, programs, escort cards, welcome gift bags and other wedding stationery somewhere else. Big mistake, Paper Place. HUGE. TL; DR: Cute merchandise, but underwhelming custom design services. Brides, if I were you I'd go elsewhere. read more

my experience at paper place was quite average. good selection of paper goods and overpriced trinkets. i circled the store twice looking for origami paper with no acknowledgment. it's wasn't too busy and i was getting frustrated so i asked for help. once again, mediocre service. at least they had what i needed. and that is about all i can say about paper place. read more

I went here to get wedding invitations done, and worked with Erica most of the time. My invitations were not done on time, but they were stunning! I made a small change to the quantity the day after I ordered them, and therefor confused the entire staff about how much money was owed back to me. I think they need to change the way they price and place orders, cuz it's way too confusing, even for the people that work there. It took 2 visits for me to get all the money back that I was owed, and I'm still not positive that it's right. Also, customer service is......not very good. I told one lady about how they screwed up my order and she just shrugged and walked off. Not cool. I won't be back. Plus they're pretty crazy expensive. read more

We went to Paper Place to have a professional design our wedding invitations. Initially we thought we'd DIY them, but the endeavor proved more effort than I was able to give it so we thought it was best left to people with know how. We come in one Saturday and the employees all seemed to be busy helping other customers, so we start browsing paper and picked out a few samples to take home and think about. We check out and mention we're interested in design work, I'm told to call back at another time when someone will be able to help me, the design people aren't available right now. Ok, sure, thanks. I call a few days later and the person seems surprised to hear I wasn't just helped when I came in. We make an appointment anyway and go in with the shoddy design I'd come up with, which we basically like but desperately need made 'nice'. We proceed to spend what felt like an ungodly amount of time pouring over fonts and colors and design elements. And we can't speak directly with the designer, we're speaking with some intermediary who will have to relate all this information to the designer. No 'here you go, make it pretty!', we basically design the whole thing ourselves and then pay them to do it with their computer program (ok, I realize there was some actual work involved, but we made every single design decision). We asked for a few different versions and we had to spell out exactly what we wanted to see in each version. Not just 'play around with which font where and whatnot'. We get the proofs, we like this part of a and this part of b, we don't need another round of proofs, but this paper is not what we thought it was - an off-white with speckly gold, but the proofs barely had any speckles, which were important to us. The person helping us did promise to hand select the speckliest paper for the printing, and she delivered on that. The invitations were everything we wanted, because basically we designed them ourselves with guidance and the grunt work done by someone else. We pick them up in a timely fashion, everything is fine. The invitations really are great. The cost was what we anticipated. But for all the wonderfulness of the end product, we don't feel we got the experience we were looking for. Perhaps we should have gone elsewhere after the design day went so poorly, perhaps we should have been clearer about our expectations for the design process, perhaps we should have eaten before going in and been less cranky/desperate to finish this task so we could go to brunch. But we didn't, and now we're giving them a 3 star rating. Good, but not great. While I don't anticipate ever needing formal invitations again, even if I did I probably wouldn't go here. They do have a beautiful selection of paper products and accouterments for which I wouldn't hesitate to visit them. Their prices are reasonable and they delivered an awesome product, just a meh experience. read more

Nice products. TERRIBLE customer service. For some reason, they have stuff behind the register so I told this poor customer I was ready to check out. I had to yell out into the store that I was ready to check out. The woman who checked me out acted like I was bothering her and was dismissive. I almost told her to forget it and not finish my purchase but I needed that calendar. I'm so glad I didn't buy the other things I wanted because I can't reward horrific customer service. read more

I am torn about Paper Place (sorry, no pun intended). The products are amazing, and as a graphic designer, I hit this place up atleast once a month. Gorgeous items that are hard to find in Austin - Snow & Graham wrapping paper! Russel & Hazel binders! Jellycat stuffed animals! Kate Spade paper accessories! But the staff are horrible - unhelpful to say the least. Sigh. Come here for stationery, pens, invitations, gifts, wrapping paper and cards - just don't expect much assistance from the staff. read more

Paper Place has everything you need except excellent customer service. (If you're ordering invitations or printing, this warning is for you). I went in one day and received wonderful assistance from someone. She told me how many days it would take for my order. I came back the next day and expected to hear the same answer. I was wrong. The associate helping me told me it would actually take the maximum number of days to print my order. (The total opposite answer from the first associate that had helped me). She also told me to expect a proof send to my email the very next day. I didn't get a proof that day. I called to ask and they said I was scheduled for the next day. Still didn't get it. I called three days later and they told me they had already emailed the day prior. Not the case... I had been staring at my inbox waiting for this so-called "proof email" for three days and it never arrived. They re-sent it and I finally got it. All in all, I would probably still go back... However, if and when you ever visit this store, ask all your questions up front (maybe even ask two different employees) and know that their answers may not be the same the next day. read more

Paper Place will most likely have what you need to make those incredibly expensive wedding invitations yourself, but I'll have to agree with everyone else that the staff is EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL. Sure, they pulled out some invitation sample books for me to flip through, but they had no interest in helping me create what I wanted or made any suggestions for staying within my budget. I've gone in several times now to compare different paper types with ribbon and stuff that I've picked out, and every time the employees helped me find things, they made me feel like I was inconveniencing them. I wish that I didn't have to rely so heavily on them, but so far this is the only store I've found that carries what I need. I always walk out of there feeling stressed out and wondering if I'm getting ripped off. read more

rare in the US and very, very rare in Texas to have a stationery store, let alone one that is so well stocked and with great variety. Maybe pick up cheap ready made stuff here, but definitely do not use them to design anything custom or wedding. They were extremely lax with quality and lazy.
