Ordered a family meal for 02/22/26. When I opened the rice it looked great but when I tasted it there was no flavor. I had several people try it and still no flavor. Ok, I had to add seasoning to it to try to enjoy it. Now the roast pork is another story. The roast pork did not smell like it was supposed to. I tasted it and it was sweet and sour. It tasted like it was made to be put in a lasagna. It was not good. When I ask everyone else they couldn't figure out the smell so I told them to try it. They said it tasted like salad dressing, sure enough it looks like whoever made it decided to make it with salad dressing as a seasoning and it was terrible. Very disappointed with this place as consistency has really been lost! I have enjoyed several meals from there before but now I have to question do I really want to come here again. I have attached 2 photos. Looks like Italian dressing in the pernil. Makes no sense to have those seed and that flavor! read more

horrible experience. ordered 87 dollars worth of food. two orders of tostones and an 8 oz container of ketchup mayo for the tostones. I get home and the to stones are rock hard. can't even bite into them. I called to get my money back for the tostones and ketchup mayo since I bought the ketchup mayo just for the tostones. the owner gave me the hardest time and wouldn't refund me for the sauce. told me to use it for something else when I don't use it for anything but the tostones. but that's ok I guess I'll save it for the Ct number one tostones I'll order since they are one hundred times better then papas place. read more

Delicious food! This review is based on the dishes that I have tried so far. The pork chops were cooked to perfection and soooo good! The rice with gandules took me back to PR-highly recommended! The bacalaito is currently one of my favs. It's simple and reminds me of the ones that my mom made. Que rico! The yuca - my current fav. It' so good. It's topped with garlic. The empanadillas are good. I have only tried the chicken so far. I have notice that they didn't taste the same all the times. One time they were crispier than the other two times. Also, the filling was slightly different each time. (They are filled with chicken and cheese) If you're looking for tasty Puerto Rican food options-stop in-the menu does not disappoint. I will be trying a few more dishes and updating the review as I try new dishes. The service has always been friendly. Additionally, the food ordered is always hot and the portions are great for sharing. The only dish that I tried twice and both times disappointed a bit-was the Jibarito (chicken sandwich on plantains) This sandwich would be better without the lettuce and tomatoes-they were soggy both times. I love this place, I really do. They are polite and friendly. The food is always well seasoned and tasty. However, the little things do matter. I just ordered 2 burritos and 6 empanadas. I repeated it twice and the gentleman repeated it back. Both burritos were to have guacamole on them and sour cream on the side. Get home, no guacamole on either. No sour cream. Was the food delicious? Absolutely. It's just annoying when you pay for, ask for and expect something and it's not there. If you're looking for food that is REMINISCENT OF (not exactly like) the food from your Abuelita's kitchen, this is a good, quick place. This place has a lot of potential to be one of the best Spanish restaurants around. It just has a few problems that all start up restaurants have . Let me start by saying the food is above average. Service was decent. But I went there and had the yellow rice with baked chicken and I loved it . So I went back the next day to try some more and they didn't have any. This restaurant has the best authentic Puerto Rican yellow rice!!! Must try with the penil. They also have the fried skin from penil but usually is gone by 12pm so get it early if you can. The mofongos are the best I ever had but they do not serve it with the red sauce like I usually have but a garlic butter sweet onion sauce which is amazing. The beef and chicken empanadas are also the best we ever had. Don't pass this restaurant without stopping to have a bite they're amazing. Idk .. I've read some reviews decided to take a chance. I only ordered beef and cheese empanada but I just didn't like it at all. The cheese was like a different type of cheese not usually in an empanada. Seriously tasted like American cheese but who knows. And both items were salty. I've been here 4 times already and the food is outstanding. The owners are very friendly; Mel introduced himself when he noticed I was in for my second time. Tina has been very helpful with explaining the interesting food items they sell. Even the other customers were friendly! The empanadas are some of the best I have had (Pernil, Chicken, Beef). The Cubano sandwich is a work of art! Tender, tasty pernil, nice pickles and perfect Cubano bread, nicely finished in a paninni press. Carne Frita and Chicharron are a special treat! The Piononos are an interesting item, with plantains on the outside and seasoned ground beef and mozzarella cheese on the inside, cooked in a large muffin tin; Tina says it's like an individual PR lasagna... OK, but it's a must try in any event! I tell everyone about this place; It's located where Gaetano's used to be and this place is going to be Stratford's next big hit, just like the last tenants!
