I first tried Cibus back in August of 2025 for a quick drink and appetizers, so when my friends asked where we should go for dinner, I didn't hesitate to suggest it. I may add that I live 90 minutes from here and only come to this town 1-3 times a year. So, my friends usually take my suggestions and a group of eight of us showed up on a Saturday night with no reservation, and somehow the universe blessed us with a table. The place was packed, even the bar had people standing around it; so we knew we were in for a good night. One thing I loved about Cibus that night, is the crowd. It's a great mix of Hispanic and non‑Hispanic diners, which tells you the food speaks to everyone. The décor is warm and inviting, and the dimmed evening lighting gives it that cozy, "we're about to eat well" vibe. Parking was easy too. I have to admit I thought it may be harder to find parking but we found a spot right behind the restaurant, though street parking is also an option, but was packed. Our server, David, deserves his own shout‑out. Super patient, friendly, and ready with answers for every question we threw at him. He checked on us often without hovering, and everyone at the table agreed he did an excellent job. Now, the food...my favorite part. If you've read my reviews before, you know I eat everything but have a soft spot for Asian cuisine. And even though I'm Hispanic, I rarely go out for Hispanic food because I cook it well at home and most places don't impress me. Cibus, however, did not disappoint. Not one dish missed the mark, and the whole table agreed. We even ordered extra food to take home. We started with the Garlic Shrimp with Mofongo. The creamy orange sauce caught me off guard because it's not the usual style, but it worked beautifully. The flavors were balanced, the mofongo wasn't dry (thank you!), and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. We liked it so much we ordered multiple plates of this one; plus two Cuban sandwiches to go. The Cuban was tasty, though it could use a little more meat and sauce. The Ropa Vieja was another hit. Plenty of meat, plenty of sauce, and the black beans were flavorful. A sprinkle of fresh cilantro on top would have made it perfect, but that's just me being picky with my extra flavors and aroma. We also had the ceviche, the trio of little mofongos, and the Chips and Guacamole -- and yes, they make their tortilla and plantain chips in‑house. Not a single crumb survived. I tried the Tostones Sliders with pork, and I wouldn't change a thing. They were loaded with meat, had the right amount of veggies and sauce, and were just delicious. The only dish that didn't wow me was the Maduro with cheese. I love maduros, but the melted mozzarella felt a little plain. There's so much potential here, instead of Mozart maybe try some queso Mexicano, a small side of meat sauce, chimichurri sauce, or even a spicy drizzle could take it to the next level. Speaking of spice, I asked for hot sauce and was surprised to get a watered‑down Frank's RedHot. For a Latin fusion restaurant, something like Cholula, El Yucateco, or Tapatío would fit the Latin fusion theme so much better and elevate the dishes. But overall, Cibus is doing so many things right -- great service, great food, great atmosphere. I'm already planning my next visit and bringing new people with me at end of May. read more

Second time here...first time dining in. Came here for a family member's birthday dinner. Went on a Sunday evening with a group of seven. The restaurant midsized, it's nicely decorated, clean, and good for groups too. The staff were very friendly, food was good, however the waitress was ok. She forgot to bring my appetizer and forgot to place my to-go meal in time of the kitchen closing. The waitress was apologetic and I understand humans forget things from time to time when you're busy. However, this evening was less than half full and when we left it was near closing time...only a couple tables were still there. The least they could have done was comp my meal or have the manager stop by to apologize. But that didn't happen, I just didn't want to make a fuss...so I paid the bill and time will tell if there is another visit in the future. read more

I'm was visiting my Aunt over the weekend and she recommended this restaurant to me. I wasn't sure what to expect because I had never experienced a mix of cuban and Mexican before but I was excited to try it out. Our waiter was really nice (I believe his name was Joseph). He was really attentive to our needs and was really friendly. We started with the chips and guacamole that came with corn chips and plantain chips. The guacamole was really good. I also ordered the steak with rice, beans, and eggs. My steak was cooked exactly the way that I liked it. I've lived in Stratford for four years and it surprises me how I've never once been to this place! After my first day of class I was feeling hungry and when I got off the train I decided to come here and boy do I not regret it at all it was so delicious! Service [5/5]: There isn't much to say since I took my order to go but the staff were friendly and I only waited around 15ish minutes for my food since I came an hour after they opened. Ambiance [5/5]: I've walked past this place while it was dark outside and it's definitely one of the places that stand out. The outdoor seating is a great touch for those long summer nights and overall the place is just very spacious. I Definitely get a calm beach house/villa vibe while in here! Theres also a bar which looks very clean and neatly organized with many drinks to choose from! Food [5/5]: Filete De Pescado [5/5] If you're a fish filet fanatic like I am you're going to LOVE this sandwich! it's so delicious the fish is crispy, theres a nice crunch after each bite, it's so good and the tartar is creamy as well! I'd ask for more next time I go! Absolutely mouthwatering sandwich! It also comes with a choice of either a salad or fries and I chose the fries and they were good! Not too salty, not soggy at all just great! Beef and Cheese / Chicken and Cheese Empanada [5/5] I don't eat empanadas much but I enjoyed these, I personally liked the chicken more than the beef but they're both fantastic nonetheless and pretty big as well! Chicken was packed with flavor and the cheese made them taste sweet, honestly a steal given the price! Right off the I-95 and not too far from the train station, Cibus is definitely a go to spot you should try if you're passing by stratford or just looking for something to eat with fast service! My man is still new to CT, so when he was inquiring about Spanish food spots, Cibus Dos was mentioned. During an attempt to reserve a table for Valentine's Day, that matched our availability, this spot was secured. We came 15 minutes early for our 9pm reservation and got seated immediately. We patiently waited for our waiter that never came. When the hostess came back about 20 min to sit a couple next to us, we asked when will they take our our order, about 8 minutes later a confused young boy came and took it. I'll say our starters of ceviche and steak tostones came quick, but then we had to wait another 5 minutes for some one to get us utensils. The drinks or sparking water we ordered still hadn't came yet and a lady tried giving us tap. We had to explain ourselves to her. The manager came to our table to apologize about a miscommunication between the hostess and waiter; I understand it's Valentine's Day, so I wasn't going to be the customer from hell, but cmon, get it together. When the entree came the server tried giving it to two other tables before learning it was ours. I got the churrasco medium but it felt more on the well side, maybe because the cut was a bit flimsy. The chimichurri sauce I requested never came, so I had to ask for it again. By the time we were done eating, we had already been there for 1.5hrs, we usually get 2 alcoholic drinks, my man wanted to try the chocolate martini; we usually get dessert; I was telling him the flan an churros were good here; after all the time lapsed, we skipped our usual 2nd drink and dessert, we just wanted the bill and wanted to go home. I made reservations for 9pm here for valentines day. Showed up a bit earlier around 8:45pm and got seated shortly. We sat down and waited about 5 to 10 minutes waiting for a service. We finally got our orders taken around 9:26pm including drinks. We waited a while for the drinks but the food came out before the drinks did. We didn't have any silverware to eat with. It was kind of frustrating. The food was good i will say tho. I had the spicey ceviche trio. The seafood was very fresh and very good. The sauces it had were great. I had as a main meal the skirt steak with yellow rice and gondules. With fries and a side of chimmi sauce. My old fashioned came out and I enjoyed it. I would say that perhaps the service that night was a bit busy I guess. But it could of been more attentive. I would go back and give it another shot. read more

Having ate at this place many times via takeout and dining in I have to say each time did not disappoint. This place is open late and hits the spot when I'm working night shift and need a meal. But inside is also very clean and pretty. I have dined here quite a bit. One time I came the day before Mother's Day and there was quite a big party of more than 10 dining but the restaurant didn't feel crowded and they were able to take my reservation for a party of 7. Servers are really kind. My favorite thing to get here is the limeade which is freshly squeezed. I know this because one day I came during early lunch and saw a guy squeezing a whole bunch of limes at the bar. My go to thing to get here is the garlic butter mofongo which HITS every time. The portion sizes are good for the price. The taste is there. Everyone I bring here loves this place and I'm genuinely happy that there are more locations opening up because the food is that good. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I had heard about this place for a while but for some reason we just never tried it. Today my girlfriend was in the mood for some latino food and I suggested this place and I am so glad we did. The restaurant has outside dining, bar dining and a regular dining area. The restaurant was dimly lit but yet created quite the ambiance. The staff was quick to take care of us and provided excellent service. We went for lunch and at first the place was empty but it filled up pretty quick. For my entree I had the Cubano sandwich with yucca fries and my girlfriend was excited to see they had rabo encendido with Mofongo. The food was absolutely delicious, it was packed with so much flavor. The Cubano which is my favorite sandwich was perfect. The bread, roast pork, ham, mustard and pickle hit perfectly. I substituted the yucca fries for the French fries (highly recommend it). The yucca was delicious! My girlfriend loved the rabo encendido (ox tail) and the Mofongo was perfect. Mofongo can be really dry if not done right but not this one. It was so garlicky too, the way I like it. To end our meal we had the empanada with Nutella and strawberries. It was the perfect way to end our meal!!! We are definitely coming back and trying other items on the menu. read more

On my last visit, we took a party of six and our server was a pro at handling our orders and serving us efficiently. Love, love this place! Super cute ambiance, fantastic service... and THE FOOD! We tried all 3 ceviches - my personal favorite was the mixto but the shrimp and fish ones were also delish. Fresh, perfectly flavored, juicy and served with hot fresh tostones. The nachos were some of the best I ever had... the chips were thick and crispy and held up to the melted cheese, bean, tomato, onion and cilantro very well. It comes out in a cast iron pot and you will have leftover "queso" mix that you will want to dip anything on the table in... or literally just eat by the spoonful! Charcuterie boards were great, and so were the griddled potato cakes... and don't leave without trying the flan! Drinks were also great! We will be back for sure! read more

We came here the other night because we wanted a cute date night on a Wednesday but it had to be late (like 9/10ish). Seemed like most of the stuff in the area that was open at that time was kind of divey, but this place was PERFECT. The drinks were delicious (we had the cucumber limeade and the passion fruit spicy tequila drink (I forget the name)). We also got the Cubano and tres mofongitos -- all so good. We were always big fans of the OG Cihus but weren't in love with dos. To be fair we went shortly after it first opened. Gave it another go last night and it was a huge improvement! Got the cheese plate which we all loved. I got the salmon and cauliflower rice which was delicious! My two table mates had chorizo and steak tacos. High marks from both of them as well. Really good. So this place just opened about 3 weeks ago. The restaurant looks gorgeous and the servers are super polite. I ordered the trio mofongo as an appetizer and it was delicious. Next time I might just got it all to myself as an entree instead. I got the passion fruit smoothie which was very good as well. The only reason they didn't receive a 5 star was because everything my husband ordered was a bit overcooked and not the best tasting. My husband ordered the surf and turf but unfortunately the lobster was over cooked and so was his steak. So that was a bit underwhelming. I also ordered churros as a dessert and it was so good. Being that I am impatient, I was disappointed that our server didn't come over for 5 minutes after being seated. Drinks took awhile to come as well. I expected more from their pisco sour (too sweet), and their ceviche (two served with whole shrimp); I must add, the ceviche mixto was by far the best and most tasty but I wouldn't get it again. The potato ball was good but fell apart easily making it hard to eat. My favorite items was their mint mojo (delicious and refreshing), the oxtail (despite the cumin overload), & the arepitas (great combination of flavors) with the Ropa Vieja cooked to perfection. I really enjoy this place. The menu is pretty hefty, filled with different options. Latin dishes that compliment multiple Hispanic cultures. A good selection of tapas, salads, ceviches, entrees, drinks, and desserts. I usually stick with the same dish which is shrimp in garlic sauce , white rice and tostones. You can never go wrong with that dish. The al ajillo sauce is so good! I like to order the sauce as a side for other dishes, such as the Jalea with that sauce. The Jalea a is fried seafood platter. Sea bass, shrimp, and calamari. Your choice of tostones or another side. The scallop dish with lobster sauce is another good dish. Drinks are well crafted. Not a big drinker, but I will order one from here lol! Dessert is good too! Plenty of options such as tres leches , churros, strawberry Nutella empanada, and a few other things. We have been to Cibus Dos many times and have never had a bad meal. Often we order some combination of small plates but have also ordered meals. Portion sizes are good and the price is on par with similar places. The largest group we have had was 4. The service has always been friendly occasionally a little slow but nothing uncomfortably so. I am obsessed with the food here. The lomo saltado, empanadas, black beans, papa rellena and pernil are delicious. I order takeout from here twice a week and it is delicious! The dine-in experience is very comfortable and cozy and the churros with ice cream are a delicious dessert. Service is usually very good, too. I would highly recommend Cibus Dos. Will definitely be back! -------------------------------------------------- Let me start by saying the food was excellent and the variety of items on the menu was fantastic. I had the Salmon and coconut cauliflower rice and my boyfriend had the surf and turf. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. The drink menu was awesome. Try the cucumber limeade or the sangria! The only change I would make to the menu, is to add a vegetarian meal. It is only a few weeks after the restaurant officially opened and they have some kinks to work out. They were out of a bunch of the dishes when we went (a Saturday night at 7:30PM), including anything that had Avocados or or Serrano ham. It took over an hour to get our dinners and during that time the waiter never stopped by the table to ask if we wanted refills on drinks or to update us on when our food would be coming out. We also had to flag him down to get the check (and no, it wasn't super busy). Will definitely go back as these things will Likely work themselves out over the coming weeks. read more
