If you are headed through Dillon, make sure it's on a Thursday and stay the night. Papa T's has a Thursday special of Chicken Fried Steak that is hands down the best in the world. For around $7 you get a large order (which is MAMMOTH) with a huge scoop of REAL mashed taters and its all covered in gravy. Of course you get the Montana version of salad (iceberg lettuce with some carrot shavings), but it only makes you realize where you are. They also make a great pizza...try the Porky...yummmmmmmm. My wife is a Dillon native and says that Papa Ts is the most popular restaurant in Dillon (but it's a tiny town). We've gone there for pizza a couple times while visiting family and it is typical small-town pizza. According to the wife, their crust is their own recipe (a beer-infused type crust), but the rest of the pizza is pretty much out of a can (the vegetables definitely were). Get rid of the canned vegetables - go out and buy fresh foods for your pizza offering and maybe you'll have something. But they're a small town restaurant with no real competition that i know of, and many people love the place. The staff and service was good, but the food, pizza specifically, not so much. Will I go back? Probably - just won't get pizza again. read more

Papa T's is the real Montana cowboy eats. We stopped in Dillon for lunch and found this store front in the old down town part, away from the new chain places. Papa T's was once a saloon or bar of some kind, the old bar is still a prominent feature in the decor. It is surprisingly large once you get in the door. Many tables and a pool table all were busy at lunch. The old place has newly remodeled and updated clean restrooms. Several fast and courteous wait staff took our order and were knowledgeable about their menu. The lunch menu had a wide selection of items from salad to pizza to sandwiches. The bar serves a good selection of beverages. One large family with children were there. We had a good time and a good lunch. Everyone else looked like local ranchers and farm folk. Its worth a stop if you are in the Dillon, MT, area. read more

Below average, all the way around. Pizza wasn't hot, and nothing special. Reminded me a bit of the "Tony's Pizzas" you get in the freezer section at the store. My husband had a burger- soggy, produce wasn't fresh, and super plain. Service was slow, and everything was very meh. The only reason it gets two stars is for the mini jojo's. Stopped in on Sunday afternoon while on the motorcycle. It was nice to see a restaurant open after a couple of stops in nearby towns which were all closed on Sundays. Anyhow, big open space with lots of tables. Although quiet at this time, I could imagine baseball teams having team parties here. They seem kid friendly. We ordered a medium combination pizza and although we asked for light mushrooms, they must have missed that part. Nonetheless, the pizza was good. We'd come back when passing through the area again. After a friend recommended Papa T's for chicken fried steak we tried it. It was as good as my own and I've been cooking that with my southern recipe for decades. Do yourself a favor, show up shortly after 5pm on Thursdays, order the chicken fried steak dinner (served with mashed potatoes and gravy, side salad), and prepare to thoroughly enjoy your meal. It's a huge serving so we have leftovers for the next night, it's great not to have to cook 2 nights in a row. I haven't tried anything else they serve however the staff have always been great. read more

On our way back from Utah getting hungry needed a bite to finish our journey home. Anyway, we stopped in papa t place. And I have to say my compliments to the chef. The fried chicken was excellent. Of course I've had the fast chains for a quick bite but Im willing, the next time I'm in the mood for fried chicken I drive the four hours one way for this chicken. After seven hours of driving and more to go, we stopped at Papa T's for a long, relaxing meal break and weren't disappointed. The welcome was friendly and we felt right at home. We both ordered burgers. Our salads came first. I'm not often impressed by a house salad, but the freshness of the ingredients was noticeable. We enjoyed our burgers as well. Same freshness in the tomato slices and lettuce on mine. The service was friendly, quick and helpful. Thanks for the good service, good food and relaxing place.
