A fellow rider traveling North on the GDMBR mentioned a Pizza place at the bottom of the hill. I felt like he was pulling my leg as we were in the middle of the wilderness. Sure enough, I got to the bottom of the mountain and found the pizza flags flapping in the breeze. I parked my bike at the front door and made my way into The Restaurant and found a Firetruck in the lobby. I made my way into the main building and the Owner greeted me stating it was his first week being open. People who know me understand that Pizza is my favorite food group...a bit of a pizza snob. I like thin crust and on the crispy side of done. I was service two slices that were previously frozen and they were in my top five slices ever eaten. I ordered a whole pie and shared it with Marjolein, a fellow GDMBR rider from Virginia. I would have to rank the whole pie as a tie for best pizza. It was cooked perfectly and the owner was so nice and shared his testimony with me. Naturally, I wanted to try the pizza coming out of this rig. Plus I wanted to help the local businesses. I asked for a menu to find out that there wasn't one. The owner, Donnie Speer (he introduced himself to me), who was very personable, then told me that he can make any pizza I want upon my request. He did suggest I try the "Montana Hippie" which has a bunch of veggies and pepperoni. I ordered that plus a "Meat Lovers" pizza. Let me tell you here that his prices are very reasonable! In Colorado, where I'm from, would've had to pay nearly twice for such a pizza! Wow! I was blown away by the wood-fired pizza that Donnie and team were cranking out of this pizza fire engine! They had generous toppings and cheese! I can tell you that hands-down this food truck has the BEST pizza I've eaten so far in Montana! Having lived in NYC for many years and frequenting the best pizza parlors in Chicago as well, this guy and his food truck can definitely rub shoulders with pizza in NYC and Chicago! They were very quick on delivery and friendly. Since we were delivery we could not comment on the restaurant. We ordered a jumbo combination pizza 20" man it was big!!!
