We were disappointed with the meal here. We started with the guacamole since they don't serve chips and salsa gratis as is usual. It was just chopped avocado with cilantro, onion and tomato. It had no real flavor and we are not fans of the chopped avocado, especially when the avocados like this are unripe so they're difficult to eat. We we tried using a fork to smash them up to make it easier to eat, but they were too unripe for that. Chips are the thick, break your teeth kind. Not our style. The salsa was very hot and I usually like spicy hot salsa, but this was pretty much just hot without the flavor behind. Chicken burrito and quesa birria. The server told me this restaurant has been open since 1996 but the way she hustled around here made me feel like it was new and they were trying to win business. We ordered fresh guacamole, pico de gallo and salsa and chips. Everything was fresh so if you are ordering these items, you will wait a couple minutes while they chop everything for you. This place is UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING. With that being said this post has some contradictions: It is a hole in the wall restaurant, BUT I THINK that that's a huge compliment when in come to the cuisine. We were driving through and we excited to try this place based off of other peoples reviews. The server was very nice and the restaurant was clean. They were out of tamales, too bad. We ordered carne asada tacos, and birria tacos. There wasn't much flavor with the asada tacos and meat was very dry and tough. The birria tacos had a good flavor but the tortilla was very soggy and falling apart. Usually the tortilla is crispy for dipping, but these fell apart very easy making it difficult to hold. They were not the best I have ever had, but okay. The beans and rice were very good though. They may have been having an off day. read more

Just a great Mexican restaurant! The food is wonderful. When they have it, my husband orders this fish dish that's piled 7 inches high and it must've been in a cylinder but they take it out and then it's got sauce at the bottom. I can't remember what it's called., I'm not a fan because I don't like oysters and squid and fish, but if you're into that, and when they have a you've got to order it, it is excellent ,for my husband! It also has shrimp and avocado, which I'm a fan of both of those ! Anyway, try it if you like that kind of thing because he's nuts about it! I get an enchilada tacos but my most favorite thing there too is the guacamole. It is so darn good. It seems crazy to me that a small town like Dillon has three of the best Mexican restaurants that I've been in. Was looking for a sit down Mexican restaurant. We love taco trucks, but sometimes you want to sit down indoors and mack on chips and salsa. Warning, Yelp takes you to a laundromat. Chips were homemade, salsa was spicy and both delicious. 8/10 Fajitas were piled high and came with 3 tiny tortillas. Flavor was good, could have used more shells. 8/10 Chicken chimichanga I ordered smothered in green sauce. Not sure if it was the sauce or the filling, but something was watery on the plate. I guess skip the smother or ask foe it in the side. Flavor was good. 7/10 Kids chicken soft taco was amazing. I went into this place with fairly high expectations. But then I started thinking...good Mexican in Montana? Let alone Dillon, MT. I was correct. It's your standard fare Mexican food. Ordered the enchilada platter with three enchiladas, beans and rice. One pork Verde, one shredded beef mole and one cheese verde. The pork and cheese were fine...the mole didn't taste like mole...or maybe a mole sauce that was incomplete. I also ordered some extra chips and guacamole. The salsa was a bit thin, but had good flavor. The chips I actually really liked...but the guacamole literally had no flavor. Almost like they smashed and avocado and chopped up a tomato in it. No seasonings, no onion or cilantro, no lime...just flavorless. Lastly, many people commented that the portions were quite large...mine seemed smaller than normal Mexican restaurants...so wasn't impressed on that end either. Wait staff was fine, service was quick. I guess for Dillon it's ok, but otherwise it's average at best. read more

This place was authentic and amazing! I've lived in California and Texas and I can honestly say this is authentic Mexican food! I haven't had a chile relleno this good in probably 12 years. Let's start with the food. It was very good. The other reviewers are correct. The portions are nice an large and quite tasty. The chips and salsa were very good. I prefer my chips a bit thinner, but the thick chips were good. The salsa was a bit thin for me but had a great flavor and just the right amount of heat. The decor was fine, but it is dated. The colors are standard Mexican restaurant yellows and oranges. The place felt a bit cluttered and mismatched, but had a lot of home-town charm. The restrooms were OK. However, the trek to the men's room is an interesting walk past the kitchen, two soda machines, and stacks of cans almost to the store room in the back. We went in on a Thursday evening about 6:30 pm. The place was about half full. The server told us to find a seat anywhere. It was a good thing that the place was not any busier than it was because there was only one server. She was running a bit ragged. To her credit she seemed to be taking care of everyone and our order was accurate and arrived in a timely manner. However, she didn't have time to bus any tables, so by the time we left a good portion of the tables were still covered with dishes. Some had been sitting there the entire time we were there. Bottom line, I would go back for the food. There were several things I wouldn't mind ordering. read more

This was an instant favorite for us - so good that we dined here twice in one week. Upon arrival we both dove right into our beans. And then it was quiet. I look up at my travel companion and see a slight rock and smile and realize that I'm rocking and smiling too. We look up at each other and smile big. "Right!" "They're sooooo good!" On our first visit, the shrimp in my dish was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. The beans were perfectly seasoned and balanced well with the rice. Everything on our plates was delicious and while my eyes were bigger than my stomach, my travel companion made a happy plate. She raved about the succulent chunks of pork and exquisite green sauce. "I wanted to drink that sauce!!" On our second visit I decided to be adventurous and ordered the whole tilapia. We were chatting and all of the sudden we hear the familiar sound of food meeting a hot fryer. "I bet that's my fish! I seriously cannot wait!" "You're right. I be that's him!!" My travel companion ordered chicken flautas. This was another happy plate experience for her. Her flautas arrived fried to golden perfection. The chicken was flavorful and jam packed inside the rolled tortilla. We couldn't stop talking about the beans. "I wonder what they put in them. There's an extra flavor that is different but so good!" "Girl, that's love you're tasting." Dat fish doe... I've never had a whole fish before. I was a little scared, not knowing if I would enjoy it. But let me tell you, this fish was the best thing I ate on my entire 8 day stay in Dillon. It was impeccably seasoned and bathed in hot oil. The skin was crispy and decadent. Flavor ran all through this fish. My mouth is literally watering as I write this. Since the fish is cooked whole, it still has bones inside. But the good thing here is that they are large enough to spot easily and pull right out. The restaurant is aging, but clean. Service is attentive and personable. On our first visit the server said, "You're not from around here. I know all of my customers." I do not know when I'll visit Dillon again but if and when I do, Los Koritas will be my first stop. I'm not sure if she'll remember me but best believe that I will damn sure remember that fish and those beans. read more

We also went to the Taco Bus the next day to try it out and they got two pretty important ingredients wrong with my food. I ordered the combo of 3 verde chicken enchiladas. When I got home, the sauce was red, not green, and the meat was pork, not chicken. Very disappointed. Especially because this was not particularly cheap. The hot sauce they gave us for our food seemed watered down and tasted nothing like any hot sauce I've had before.l The food quality was good though. But I still think Los Koritas tasted much better. I was in Dillon for a week for business. I live in San Diego where we have really good authentic Mexican food so I was leary when this place was suggested to me. I came anyway and boy was I surprised, I got the AL Pastor tacos and they were amazing, so amazing that I had to come back the next night and got the Chile rellenos which were probably the best thing I tasted in a long time. We skipped the taco bus as it was very teeny inside and too cold to sit outside. Instead we went here on the recommendation of the lady at the local museum. Being from California we wondered just how good Mexican food in Montana could be. Well, the answer is, very good. My husband was a little miffed that his quesadilla had cheddar cheese instead of "white" cheese, but what a minor quibble. Their chips are homemade, so thick and crisp (no Costco nearby to buy them by the bushel). I got the taco plate with carnitas, and the meat was juicy and flavorful. The refrieds were also made from scratch, as was their salsas. The decor is pretty much what you would expect, and not overdone. Music was low and didn't interfere with conversation. The people who own this restaurant are from Nayarit, Mexico, hence the authenticity. I only wish their place was in my hometown, as its food is better and more authentic than anything there, as far as restaurants go. read more
