Nice , quick and friendly. Delicious treat for the family. Value during these confusing democratic induced inflationary times.

Trattoria di Carlo(TDC): Just south of Milwaukee, TDC opened in Oak Creek, WI nearly 25 years ago…read morein 2002. Founder Carlo Pedone utilized his grandmother's recipes that she brought from Sicily. 2021 saw the restaurant close, but after a brief hiatus, it was revived by new owner Frank Carini in 2023. Carini still uses all of Carlo's original recipes. My experiences with the restaurant go all the way back to high school as my parents are fans of TDC's pizza. I'm going to get it right out there, I am not. Not as a teen, nor on second chances as an adult, which is why I'm reviewing their gourmet lasagna instead. Carlo's recipe fills the lasagna with ricotta cheese and tops it with a beef meat sauce. All of this is also smothered in mozzarella cheese. Two observations (not necessarily complaints), the first is that the lasagna was not as "tall" or stacked as what I typically experience, being flatter instead. Second, I thought it was interesting that a large amount of the toppings were not actually on the lasagna but instead trailed it. I know this does not sound appetizing, but it reminded me of a snail and its trail of mucus (with the lasagna representing the snail and the trail of cheese/toppings being the mucus). Anyways, before you scold me for that unappetizing simile, the gourmet lasagna at TDC was tasty and is Doughboy approved . Only I would order a dessert drink to kick off the meal I had there with my family, but let's be real, it's better than an appetizer. TDC's version of a chocolate martini is made with Five Farms Irish Cream, Chocolate Liqueur, and vodka. There was also obviously a little chocolate sauce, which the menu description omitted (along with the brand of vodka). You could taste the alcohol, but I wouldn't say it was overly boozy. It was just about right for a martini (which is still a lot for a lightweight like me). With a sweet tooth like mine, it still beats any standard martini, even if it's not the best chocolate martini I've ever experienced. Shaken or stirred, this dessert martini is Doughboy approved . Additionally, I included pictures of the fried Mozzarella Sticks and Ricotta-cheese filled ravioli we had for appetizers. The Mozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and stuffed with melty cheese on the inside (you should have seen the cheese pull, and I wasn't even trying), doughboy approved . The ravioli was just okay . For dessert, I did try a little of my dinning companions' massive chocolate cake slice. There's a creamy chocolate buttercream on top of the slice along with alternating layers throughout the slice. The cake itself was rich and moist, while the frosting was chocolatey and sweet. Chocolate shavings also decorate the top of the slice, which in addition to the visual appeal, add a pleasant crunch that contrasts nicely with the soft and creamy cake. Dessert was easily Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews

The menu states a Chicago stuffed pizza and since I'm from Chicago I thought I would try it even though I'm a thin crust cracker fan tavern style pizza from Chicago. Most people people not from Chicago have this misconception that it's a thick crust and they are turned off and say it's pan pizza that has too much crust and I'm tired of correcting them. Yes it's cooked in a pan with a thin crust and high walls like a pie cooked upside down with the cheese and toppings on the bottom and topped with a thin crust or not but the pizza sauce/tomato purée on top. I ordered takeout with a friendly young woman and the restaurant was very nice as I walked around and probably the nicest in the area. My pizza was ready in about 30 minutes and it smelled amazing. I ordered a 12 in stuffed Chicago style pizza with sausage which could feed 4 regular people because it's packed with cheese and toppings/sauce like a pie vs a flat pizza. Halfway into two slices I was full with the meat sweats. The cheese pull was absolutely perfect just out of the oven. The sauce was tasty with a garlic flavor and not sweet which I prefer as an Italian American. The sausage was top quality with some zing. Overall as a chicogan who likes thin over stuffed pizza it was fuc%ing delicious. This is a really tasty pizza with quality ingredients so they hit this pizza out of the park today.

Don't get me wrong, I love Milwaukee style pizza, but sometimes it's good to mix it up. The edges were indeed very bubbly and bready and then the pizza innards were a New York pizza style with a thin, bready cheesy texture. Everything was very tasty. I will definitely be coming back.

We have ordered garlic knots, cheese pizza and the margherita pizza multiples times- summer of 2025 however, now we can clearly conclude that they have downgraded their service and food. Previously we had fluffy garlic knots, smothered in sauce and parmesan however now they are serving burnt pizza crust with a sprinkle of parmesan in place of what they are advertising on their website. The pizza dough was still raw and not edible. Perhaps management has changed, as their phone number and location within the building also have and the previous menu is no longer offered which supports this theory. We did order close to closing time and inquired whether it was too late to place an order however they proceeded to take our order regardless. We would have been more satisfied if they had let us know it was too late and they would not be able to provide the quality service we had been given before. Upset to say that we will no longer be ordering from brute, they have officially lost their game.

I complimented her hard work & she informed me this was her first server job! The pizza is perfectly thin with a savory sauce-not sweet at all. Toppings were plentiful & served tavern style. This place is inside The Bubbler bar, which is not advertised outside, nor was I told on the phone. Don't stop at the bar; just go straight to the back to get your pizza, and again, it's not obvious. Oh, and cash only! I waited an hour for it to be ready, drove there, went home, and my order was wrong. Didn't notice until I opened the stapled pizza sleeve when I got home. Ordered a medium peperoni and a large sausage, mushroom, and onion. My picture shows the order receipt. But what I got was two peperoni pizzas. So not only did I overpay, but I tried calling them, and it went straight to a recorded message they that don't accept messages. Needless to say, I was annoyed. The pizza was good, though.

Continued expansion may be inevitable, so I figured I'd give their food a try see where it stacks up against other chain pizza stores. For Pi Day (March 14th) they had a special of a 6" mini pizza for free with the purchase of a 20oz soda. I got extra cheese and linguisa (a type of sausage) on the pizza. I also ordered six garlic not-knots for an appetizer. The garlic not-knots were very good. I didn't read the item description before ordering since I assumed they were just garlicky dough, so I was pleasantly surprised that they had cheese on/in them and a little crunch from the baked cheese. The pizza was ok. The linguista didn't stand out like I hoped it would and the amount of cheese on the pizza is what I would have expected it normally have, so I don't know if they added extra or not. That said, I'd rather have their pizza than Domino's, Pizza Hut, Toppers, or Little Caesars. Papa John's is still my preferred chain pizza store though. Two things that may hurt this Mountain Mike's chances of succeeding: price and location. Their pizzas are pretty expensive (for example, a 14" cheese pizza is $25). I definitely recommend signing up for their rewards to get discounts rather than paying full price. As for location, this particular strip mall is always packed, making parking very difficult. Being in a busy area not far from Southridge Mall is fine if you want a lot of potential customers, but that location might be a turn off once people try to visit.
