We had a great meal here on Saturday night. We could not decide where to eat and then we remembered that this restaurant had opened in a previously occupied restaurant space. We were so glad we did! The food and service were fantastic. We ordered appetizer, a very large seafood and artichoke appetizer which was some of the most flavorful and well- cooked I have ever had. We shared a nice cold Caesar salad with a large crunchy crouton. After I had the gnocchi special and my wife had the ravioli. All were homemade, fresh, and great flavor. The sauces were some of the best I had. The service was very attentive and there were very few servers. They all just knew what needed to be done, even though they were way busier than planned. We've been wanting to try this place out for a while. Being from St. Louis and spoiled by The Hill it's really hard to find great Italian in Houston. Well we definitely found a great place now. This is a great little restaurant with a chef who really cares about his food. My wife and I started with Fritto mistto lightly fried calamari, shrimp, and artichoke hearts. After that I had the Italian house salad and she had the lobster bisque both were fresh and very tasty. On to dinner she had the Pasta Rockefeller and I had the Cioppino both were delicious. Yes we were in a seafood mood and were definitely well taken care of. Oh and before I forget, all pasta is made in house. I finally thought to take pics when dinner arrived otherwise I would post more. To finish off the night I had to try the Tiramisu (what can I say it's the Italian in me) I must say nothing was a disappointment. What's not to love about Papa Amadeus. The breadsticks were light and airy and the oil to dip them in was amazing. The staff was very attentive. Everything is home made, from the pasta to the sauces! Tried the chicken parmesan, will be back! Now my go to Italian place in Houston! read more

When an Owner has over a month advance notice of a good size party coming in for their first experience and welcomes the golden opportunity to showcase what Papa Amadeus is all about, and then fails to deliver on the basics - it's a total loss. I'm all about honoring small business and not a fan of sharing the not-so-good news... but when an owner provides a limited 3 course menu that consists of soup or salad, simple over-priced entrees (spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, chicken parmigiana and drops the linguini frutti di mare last minute) followed by a basic shared dessert to select from...and delivers cold entrees, is minimally staffed and doesn't stock wines noted on menu - it's a FLOP. That's 12 influential couples who had a good time because that's who they are and what they do... but for Papa Amadeus - it's a lost opportunity. Ps - date nite price was $65 per couple and if one was to order the same items off the menu, it would be ~ $20 less Per couple - huh? That's so not cool...... read more

My experience started off sketchy, but it ended well. Giving them 3.5 stars for now, until I have a better experience. Moscato they carried was Berringer and I wasn't a big fan of the bread sticks they bring to your table, they seemed like nothing special. Needless to say, I didn't order any wine. After reviewing the menu the night I came, I wasn't wowed with any appetizers, based on the description so didn't order any. Nor was I wowed by a single entree. It didn't help that the waiter failed to mention the special of the day, or the fish of the day. Settled with the linguini frutti de mare and fettuccine alfredo with chicken. The alfredo wasn't on the menu, but since they are a scratch kitchen they can make any basic Italian dish. Both dishes tasted excellent, so they have that going for them. Chicken was seasoned well and was even juicy. The seafood were fresh but the menu stated the dish came with fish. My dish had no fish, but it did have fresh clams. Did they run out of fish and forget to mention it? Who knows? Tiramisu for dessert was nearly as good as the entrees, so that made for a nice ending. I'll definitely be back. read more

What a gem! Just had lunch. White table cloth little family place. My wife had the pappardelle and I had gnocchi. Both delicious! Ceasar salad one of the best. Soft bread sticks with olive oil. Just had dinner here. Four adults and three children. We didn't see a kids menu, but the kids had already picked what they wanted. Art and the staff were great, and everything was taken care of. One Cioppino, two Linguines, two lasagnas and a chicken parm along with some appetizers and an amazing white watermelon salad. Dinner was fantastic. For all those complaining about the location, maybe spend a bit of time talking to Art about why they moved where they did and try to understand the rents around. We have known Arturo for a long time. Let's just say hundreds of bruised martinis at Amerigo's. When he told us that he was opening his own place, I must admit that I was sceptical. Since it's opening, we have dinner there often. It's a "go to" spot for out of town guests (after a martini at Amerigo's). I live the egglant with crab. Delicious. Dependable. The eggplant is soft but not mushy and the crab flavor is wonderful. Arturo's bar experience means that the wine sekection is spot on. Great wines at reasonable prices. But! You can bring your own, too. And I have learned to take the tiramisu home for breakfast. It's worth a cup of coffee and an empty stomach. Thank you, Arturo. This is a great spot. read more

Excellent food and the interior looks beautiful. I had the pan seared salmon and it was cooked to perfection with a very lightly seasoned crust. We also tried the Shrimp Diavolo and the BLAT which were both excellent. The lobster bisque was also very good and not too salty. My husband and I went to Papa Amadeus for dinner on the recommendation of a friend. While the location isn't ideal, we were pleasantly surprised to find a true gem. The food is incredible!! We had the smoked salmon carpaccio for the appetizer. Very nice!! We also had the chicken picatta and the flat iron steak! Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned! The creme brûlée was so fresh, creamy and delightful. The wine was exquisite! It was an excellent dinner which was made even better with the attention of our waiter, Celerino. He made us feel at home and made excellent recommendations. We will definitely return! Celerino told us that weekends require a reservation because the restaurant fills up quickly. This is an amazing restaurant inside. The outside might scare you off, next to a Firestone service station. Once inside you will know it's a friendly owner run place. It's a hidden gem most would not consider. Yes. Come here! The food is fresh, prepared delicately, not over whelming - it is amazing. It's also different. First time to visit this cute little restaurant and with my usual lowered expectations for good Italian food, this place is worth all 5 stars. The service was attentive and thoughtful although a little bit intrusive because they weren't busy on a Tuesday. But I get it and we were very appreciative. I ordered a cup of lobster bisque and it was perfect. Bits of lobster (I think) and a nice thick bisque made it a wonderful surprise since most places serve a watery soup that they try to pass off as bisque. I ordered the gamberi scampi while my wife decided to go traditional with the ravioli. Of course, I teased her about going all Chef-boy-ardee but it actually delicious. My daughter went predictably with the meat lasagna and even though I passed on a taste, she thoroughly enjoyed it. Dessert? Yep. Cannolis and creme brûlée. I can be a bit judgmental when it comes to dining out especially about service but our waitperson was friendly, knowledgeable and the meal superb and the ambiance comfortable. We popped in on a recommendation from a friend. What a nice little spot. Definitely nicer on the inside than you might expect From outside but I would definitely recommend and we will be back! We had a lovely burrata and prosciutto appetizer, then salads and I had the linguini ( made in house - really very nice!) and my husband had the chicken romano which was amazing.
