This restaurant presents itself as fine ding but that would not be accurate. The overpriced Frito Misto (all 4oz of it for $16.00) is about as close as it got. The appetizer (Frito Misto) was incredibly overcooked and had no seasoning. The half lemon in its dainty little seed bag was so soft, my finger went through it and it smelled spoiled. Then to dump a bunch of bulk "Parmesan" on top as if to make up for it. I figured they couldn't mess up the salads.... Wrong. All of the time they took to build a house and Caesar salad to put store bought dressing on it? Really? I had the scampi fish which tasted good other than the precut mushrooms thrown in. My son had the kids fettuccine Alfredo chocked full of more of the bulk "Parmesan" making the fish greedy and gritty. Nothing like any other creamy high end Alfredo out there. Why two stars? This is the slowest sit down restaurant I think I've been to in years. The complimentary bread was served without the accompanying oil and seasoning so was very dry. The Bruschetta was flavorless and took far too long to be served. The guy playing piano in the corner was meant to be a nice ambiance but really was just playing too loud. When I asked for a wine list I was told they only had wine by the glass and only house wines, however I later saw another table being offered several different full bottles at their table? We sat for approx 75 minutes waiting on our meal even though there were plenty of tables open when we arrived and at least two tables that were sat after us received their meals well before us. After our meal FINALLY arrived, which granted was good food, the chef came over to apologize for the wait, saying that he'd had a kitchen issue and had to redo the meal. I get that sort of thing happens, but it would have been much better to let us know when it had happened vs waiting and not telling us until after we'd waited an unacceptable amount of time, we would have been much more understanding if you'd had just told us what was going on. I do appreciate the table visit by the chef and the unsolicited discount on the meal, however this was supposed to be my Birthday treat and my night did not end up how I wanted it to. For the entrees, my kids very much enjoyed their Pollo Saltinbocca, one serving was the perfect split between them, my husband and I both ordered the Braciole and it was tasty, but sadly because we had waited so long I was unable to enjoy it as much as I know I would have had it not been such a delay. read more

A 4.7 rating, Italian food, and in my neck of the woods. It only took me about a week to stop in after it was put on my radar. I'm so sad to say that it really just missed the mark for me. Nothing was terrible, but nothing stood out either. It was the true definition of a 3-star experience. We started off with some bread. It was... fine. We ordered some prosciutto and mozzarella for an appetizer. Again: fine. I liked the prosciutto, but the mozz was had an oddly firm texture. I ordered Frutti di Mare as my entree and this was the biggest disappointment for me. There was nothing special about it. It's what I would expect from an Olive Garden, or Name Your Generic Massive Chain. My wife ordered carbonara. I definitely enjoyed hers much more than mine, but it was also just okay. We both agreed that the fettuccine alfredo we ordered for our son might have been the most appealing dish on the table. I actually liked the house salad, but my wife was not a fan of the dressing. For dessert, we ordered limoncello. It was, you guessed it, fine. I hate to be so negative about a small business, but it would be disingenuous to hype up an experience that did not live up to expectations from start to finish. Came here Saturday night with friends. Our second time. Everything was great! Service, food, ambiance. I accidentally ordered the same thing I had last time,the eggplant with crab. it was just as perfect. My husband had the carbarnara, and I was soo envious. It was AMAZING! my friend had the eggplant roll atini and her husband had the lasagna. We cleaned our plates. The summer squash soup was top notch, silky, seasoned well and deep flavor. Presentation perfect, cozy and romantic, but not overly stuffy and our server was polite, friendly and spot on. More European style than American as she wasn't overt and did her work unnoticed. That's impressive. And a nice change fro from phoney overtly friendly American chains. We LOVE this place. Please support local. Its in a strip mall in the back corner. I want to say that this is not a bad review by any means. I set a reservation earlier in the week for 13 people @ 7:00 P.M. We were seated right away but it took almost 25 minutes for a server to take our drink orders. This was probably because only two servers were working the entire floor with almost all of the tables full. Once we started receiving service, it was great. They did not have a large wine or beer selections which was good and bad. Personally, I think that there should be a bigger selection but not so much so that it's overwhelming. We received garlic knots about 45 minutes in and for 13 people, we only received 6 of them and one small bowl of their oil. When we asked for more, they told us that they were completely out as they make them fresh every day. The garlic knots were honestly phenomenal and everyone in our party wished that had more. Once our food started coming out, I was immediately able to tell it was hot, fresh, and all made in house from scratch. My meal, the pasta carbonara, was amazing. The rest of my party had some mixed reviews but overall, we all agreed that the food was good. Some negatives I do have about the place. It seemed as though the A/C had gone out in the main dining area so sweating while trying to enjoy a meal was uncomfortable. The water that was served to us was room temperature and wish it could have been cold. More garlic knots!! It's better to be somewhat be over prepared rather than under. Better selection of wine and beers. Lastly, more servers. I understand that the restaurant is rather small, but the wait time was a little too long. Overall, I would return because like I said, the food was great! But if my second is anything like the first, I probably wouldn't come back for a third. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night and were helped right away by the VERY awesome and friendly Jada S. We were fans of the fresh complimentary bread and vinaigrette. We ordered the lobster bisque and house salad to start. I enjoyed the bisque, but my boyfriend was a little bored with its flavor. Our entrees were the house Mahi Mahi with linguine and the Romano Chicken. We ended up switching entrees because we liked each other's more, however, we both thought the green cream in the Mahi Mahi was slightly bland. All delicious and the price points were very reasonable too ! You could pay 2 or 3 times as much in some Houston restaurants for not the same quality! So why almost 4 stars. Our server appeared by to very new! I like attention but I don't want to be followed up every 5 or 7 minutes during 90 minutes. At least 25 times!!! A tad too much! Overkill! Also about a 3 oz glass of house Moscato was $12. I don't have an answer or solution for this one. Just seems high! Usually house wines are priced about $8 and a slightly bigger pour. But I digress! I heard great things about this place after it was posted in a local woodland group & told my husband to please make a reservation on Saturday 2/15 for a valentines date. The post talked about how the previous guest spoke to the restaurant and they expressed how they were struggling due to being in a corner, bad lighting, and not facing a main road. So I was to support a mom and pop place that was homemade Italian. I was excited to find a hidden gem tucked away and had high high hopes. The staff was great, but the food was served room temperature even though there was steam coming off of it- Every single meal. We ordered lobster bisque as starters (tasted okay, served room temperature definitely not warm). We both said out loud it would've tasted better warm. Which is funny because husband isn't a huge fan of hot food. When we go to restaurants he almost always has to ask for a cold plate bc his food is too hot for him. He said he wanted the food warmer at this place. Then we ordered our entrees I had a 3 cheese ravioli & my husband had had steak a la campagnola . They didn't ask how he wanted the steak, so he was a bit nervous it would be well done. The steak was cooked medium & he said it was really good. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes. He had one bite of the potatoes and said he didn't like them at all (I've never seen this man not like potatoes). Again, food was served room temperature with no warmth even though there was steam coming off the food. My ravioli was okay & nothing special. I felt like I could've made it at home. The meat that was on top of the ravioli I had 2 warm bites, the rest of the meat and all of the ravioli was room temp borderline cold. I had a few bites, got full and disinterested, so I gave to my husband to finish. We switch plates and the smell coming off the mashed potatoes was foul. As soon as he was ready e switched back. I couldn't stand the smell of the potatoes. We ordered dessert- 2 crème brûlée . Mediocre and not anything special. I've had better. They served champagne at the end of the evening which neither one of us drink, but the gesture was nice. It was over priced, food wasn't even warm let alone hot, and there wasn't one bite I thought was "good" exactly. Although my hubby did like the steak. We still tipped 20% on this expensive meal, because it wasn't the servers fault. We paid $150 including tip for 2 glasses of wine each, 2 soups (which equals the price of a starter), 2 entrees, 2 desserts. We won't be back unfortunately. We ordered takeout for the first time tonight. It was amazing! The flavors were on point and reminded me of the flavors of New York Italian I ate growing up in New Jersey/New York. The eggplant rollatini was absolutely delicious; the eggplant was so thin yet crispy and rolled with cheese and spinach. The sauces on the chicken dishes had authentic hand made flavors as opposed to commercially prepared sauces which appear on most menus these days. You can taste the dedication and care that goes into their dishes. We will definitely be back to dine in person (and will absolutely do take out again as well). read more

My wife and I were so happy to make the 20min drive from Conroe to try this 5star restaurant on the order of a first class, inside the loop, bistro but relocated to the north side. The chefs are from Ninos and Marks. Two of the best Houston restaurants of the last 20 yrs. We shared an excellent wedge salad, with perfect presentation and we ordered seafood linguini and chicken piccata with a spaghetti marinara. We started talking to the owner, Art Huerta, about their history and he asked us to try their Carrot and Ginger soup. I know.... right, but we said we'd love to. He brought us two cups and a bowl on the house. Unsurprisingly, it was superb. I mean creamy, with a hearty flavor and subtle fresh ginger spice. I wouldn't have ordered it, but now will every time I'm in there and it's available. We locked the bowl. I'm a foody and Art described their Ossi Bucco, a Nino's specialty, but his sounded better. I'm looking forward to a cold winter day, when Art's left it braising in their red wine reduction (sure I didn't describe that correctly!) We're also looking forward to being hungry enough to try their Mistri Frito, with Calamari, artichoke hearts and lemon. Or their Artichoke and Lemon soup. Or their Tiramisu. Or their Creme Brûlée! It has a cute low-key intimate Italian vibe for the decor, and our server & back waiter were super sweet and attentive! The food to start with is really just that delicious. The bruschetta was seriously delicious with that balsamic and mozzarella. Our entrees were even better! My husband said that this was the best scampi he's ever had. That the sauce was luscious, and super creamy and lemony and the shrimp was super fresh and crisp and just popped to use his words! Ate at this restaurant many times and the food is consistently outstanding. The bruchetta appetizer is delicious... the bread was perfectly crispy (not hard at all), light, and easily held up all the fresh ingredients with no issues. I love the Gnocchi ala Rustica; it is one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The Italian sausage is full of flavor, the gnocchi is soft and substantial without being heavy, and the pomodoro sauce is so dang good, it's pretty much like eating dessert with the meal. Art (Owner / Chef) is very friendly and makes time to visit with his customers. He explained that their sauces take 8 hours to make. In addition to the Gnocchi Rustica, we've had the Chicken Piccata, Pappardelle, Frutti de Mare, Lasagna, Chicken Parmigiana, and several Fish of the Day dishes. Everything has been delicious and cooked to perfection. We are so glad we tried this place and will definitely be back again and again. Art and his wife Lili are both owners & truly gifted chefs. In addition to the delicious food, Papa Amadeo's also has live music every Friday and Saturday. A 3-5 member jazz band plays there once a month as well. Highly recommend this place.
