Great breakfast on the run! We ordered from the window and there was a small line, but it moved very quickly. Our baked goods were incredible. The bacon quiche was served warm, and it was a very decent size to be enough as the whole breakfast. It was cooked to perfection and just the right ratio of egg to toppings. I also got an almond croissant which was thoroughly enjoyed later that day - so fluffy and light. For a drink I got an iced dirty chai which was definitely on the spicy side and less sweet. Quiet and casual neighborhood coffee shop. It smelled absolutely amazing when we walked up the back side of the building; I guess we knew we had found them before even seeing the sign! Workers were pleasant and buzzing away like busy worker bees processing and packaging their coffee beans away. It seemed like most patrons were walking up to grab some beans. I had a simple hot 12oz Honey Latte prepared half sweet, craving the silky smooth texture. Smooth it was and I was able to enjoy it in their serene and shaded outdoor area while sitting at one of their many lounge-y seating options. Good times at Pangea coffee! Their coffee did not really blow us away, but it's worth a visit if you're going through Golden. They are within walking distance of the school of Mines, and they have a nice little outdoor seating area, with some shade to relax in. They roast their own coffee, which is a plus, and they sell different mugs and accessories as well. They had a wide variety of coffee, lattes, and teas as well as a few different pastries and some breakfast burritos. My husband got their black coffee of the day, which he was not super impressed with, but I got a sweet, iced green tea latte that was really good. There is a pretty small amount of room to hang out or work in inside, which may not work for larger groups. They use compostable cups and materials which I really appreciate. How do I go about this...we were in golden for some sight seeing and lunch and I wanted to explore Golden's coffee scene and came across this place on Yelp which showed 5 stars so I thought we'd check it out. Pangea is tucked away in a building with interesting and appealing interior just off the main drag. As usual for any new coffee place I went straight for an espresso and sadly had possibly one of the very worst espressos I've had, ever, just unbelievably bad with no redeeming qualities, a bitter burned taste with no sweetness or acidity at all, no balance to be found anywhere. I didn't pay attention to the shot preparation or extraction time so I don't know if it's a problem with their beans or the barista but I'd steer clear of this place like the plague if you want an espresso. I was back in the area and had to stop by. Ok, I had to go a little out of my way, but it is THAT good! Service was excellent and the coffee fantastic. Great to see people really care about their job. They also have breakfast burritos that are some of the best I have ever had. I also had a cinnamon roll. It was not the same as last time, but it was still good. Ask them to warm it up. Not sure where they get their food, but it is good. Atmosphere isn't as plush as the big coffee shops, but it is inviting. You can also watch them roast the coffee. The staff will bend over backwards for you. I was mistaken with my review of Bean Fosters in saying that they didn't have a lot of competition because I completely forgot about Pangea. I'd actually been a couple times at the Golden Farmer's Market and quite enjoyed it. So I went to the roasters for the very first time and it wasn't a terrific experience. People complain sometimes that roasters seem more focused on the roasting than the coffee shop part of the business, and I can see that a bit here. I'm not offended, I just felt a tiny bit rushed (so I imagine people that don't know what they want will feel that way). They had a Colombian medium roast! That is my favorite type of coffee in the universe. It was good, but not overly spectacular. No complaints on the coffee, they probably brew the best cup of Joe in the city. I always get a latte when I go to a new place, as it offers an easy comparison with others. I'll give this one (16 oz) an above average rating. One of the higher espresso-to-milk ratios I've had. If you're planning to come with friends and sit and chat for a while, there is enough seating for 17 total. 2 tables of 4, 2 of 2, a small couch, and a bar for 3 (See photo I posted). I went to Pangea mainly to try their beans for brewing at home. While I was there, I had a cappuccino, which was the best I have had in a Denver area coffee house. The seating area is pleasant, but not fancy. It was quiet, which to me is a blessing. Pangea's espresso blend is exactly what I was looking for! It is a medium roast -- very smooth and mellow but with much rich flavor. They roast their beans in small batches, which means that their coffees are fresh. I have found that freshness is more important than anything else when it comes to brewing coffee. I will buy my beans there from now on. If you are used to using a dark roast for espresso -- like Peet's Major Dickenson or Espresso Forte blends or, heaven forbid, Starbucks' Espresso blend -- you may be in for a pleasant surprise when you try Pangea's roast. I suggest you use a slightly courser grind than you would with a dark roast. I am quite serious about my coffee. I have a Rocket Cellini and make cappuccinos for my wife and myself everyday. I still like my own cappuccinos best of any I have had in Denver, but Pangea's was a very close second. read more

This is the best cup of coffee in Golden, particularly the Guatemala type. Since the (2020) spring they've only offered take out, but the quality of coffee is exceptional.
