I went yesterday to get my birthday reward entree. I LOVE motomaki, it's one of my favorite places but yesterday's bowl fell sad and flat. I ordered the shrimp tempura, which is a staple for me. It's my favorite thing to get there. However, the shrimp and the asparagus tempura just felt like they've been sitting cooked not warm tempura'd for way too long. It did not feel fresh and delicious. We pulled up to Motomaki after a long day of back to school shopping and were greeted by nice staff who were eager to help. The man who took our order was informative and helped us make decisions on what was best for us and our little one. The place overall wasn't too packed for a Friday night and is decently sized and there was nice music playing that was fun to sing along to. We each did a build your own, our daughter got a bowl and we each got wraps and filled them with cucumbers, spicy tuna, kimchi and so on! The kimchi was SOOO fresh and delicious, I was pleasantly surprised and it was nice to taste the flavor of everything individually and as it blended together. I will say I have had sushi wraps/burritos that top this one in Vegas, but if you're looking for a fresh wrap with good flavor, this may be your spot. read more

But, beware of building your own bowl/burrito, it can add up quickly! But, can also be worth it so you can customize your ultimate flavors! I opted for the tuna poke bowl that came with taro chips and it was delicious in flavor. I wished there was a little more to it, but having a tuna poke salad felt happy for my tummy and body. A healthy on-the-go option! Plus, the taro chips are excellent! They may have been my favorite part of the meal. The tofu here is delicious! I want to go back just to get a side of the tofu. It is served cold, marinated in a savory and sweet sauce. I ordered a custom bowl with grilled chicken, tofu, cucumbers, sprouts, avocado, edamame, mango salsa, and spinach, on top of spring mix. I really want to try the mochiko chicken but the batter contains egg, which I am avoiding at the moment. The employee was very knowledgeable about the menu items. Pro tip: happy hour is 2-5 pm on weekdays, unsure about weekends, but makes it a much better deal since prices are a little high here, although the portion size is pretty big. Compared to the service I had in Alabama (just moved here yesterday) regarding allergies this was a huge sigh of relief! As we walked in the door the two staff members didn't greet us but greeted two other guests as they walked in. The vegan options aren't clearly labeled but I confirmed that the poke sauce is vegan so it was a good choice. They have a kiosk to order yourself and it's pretty easy to use. At arrival, I was also pleased that they offered rolls and not just poke bowls. I ordered the Hamachi Crunch Roll and enjoyed it. It included Hamachi poke, grilled asparagus, spicy sprouts, crispy opinions, tempura crunch, sriracha aioli and ponzu all wrapped in seaweed paper. It wasn't as spicy as I expected, sour and zest flavors came through strongly, but still pretty tasty. My roll did not have the same girth as my companion's Shrimp Tempura Roll, which was disappointing, but still filled my belly. The inside was spacious, but could use some attention. Seemed like every table we tried was unstable and rocking. We finally went to the patio and enjoyed the sunshine. Service was friendly and polite.
