I recently visited this location to grab a bagel before I had to head back to the office. The layout of the cafe is not ideal, but considering it's location it isn't horrible. It was the lunch rush but the line to order was moving pretty fast, and they also have the fast-lane kiosks available. I ordered a toasted bagel with butter, as well as a bag of chips. When I received my order there was the toasted bagel as well as the chips and napkins in my bag. There wasn't any butter or even a knife. I didn't really have time so I just left with my order. It didn't bother me too much considering this is a common mistake at all Panera's. Just be mindful to check your bag as well as your receipt. read more

They have multiple machines where you can order your food from, instead of a cashier, but yet no one was using them and the location doesn't appear to want to advertise them. Horrible service. I work right across the street on the other side of Connecticut. I was called that I had a client, so I had to grab my coffee and rush towards my work. After I finished I found out that my car key was missing. I began searching for it all over my work. I got desperate because I live 15 mi far in VA and I left my car in an alley. So, it was going to be towed next morning. After searching at my work, I went to Panera to ask if they found my key. Time was 9:55( 5 min before closing). There was a blond lady in the late 40s or early 50s. She was a shift manager. I came in worried, asking for my keys. SHE DID NOT EVEN BOTHER TO LISTEN TO MY CONCERN. SHE SAID: "NO, WE ARE CLOSING NOW, BUT YOU MAY COME TOMORROW AND ASK FOR LOST AND FOUND!!!!!!" This person did not even ask her coworkers:" Hey Guys, did you find any keys"? Had she done so, her subordinates would answer: yes. So, next morning, I skipped school, I went to Mazda Dealership to order a new Key. I just wanted to check if I left my key inside my car. I hired a tow truck to take my car from the alley and bring it to Brown Mazda in Arlington. All this happen prior to 9;00 am. The Mazda Key, without the chip cost me $70. So, while waiting for the tow truck, I went to Panera Bread again to ask about my keys and the ladies who worked there gave it to me right away. "Here it is sir". I cannot explain what made me go there and ask again. I was desperate. I just wanted to double check... I gave the towing truck $20 for the time and gas they spent on me. So, I lost $100, I missed one full day of school, I could not sleep at night.. I cannot describe the stress I underwent. All this could have been spared if the lady was willing to ask her subordinates if they found keys. I do not want to portray how the situations was handled after I complained to Corporate Office. In brief, they referred my issue to the local store where this happened. The owner and the other manager made me it all my fault. Did not want to address my issue. They did not care I lost over 100 dollars. This happened 1 year ago. Ever since then, I have never been to Panera Bread store again and never will be. I work in Customer Service industry. I have never treated a customer the way I was treated by Panera. Horrible, just the worst Customer service a person can get!!! read more

The customer service is top notch at this Panera Bread location. I frequent there often because I work near by. Lawrence, the manager, is very attentive to the customers. If there is ever a discrepancy in the order, it is resolved immediately and you are given a coupon for a free meal on them for next time. At least two of the employees address me by name and one in particular is extremely attentive in making sure I receive the best customer service. Overall the vibe is cheery and helpful when one comes in for breakfast. read more

They showed up 45 min late, forgot the sandwiches (only brought salad and chips) and the "iced tea" was so boiling hot it melted the ice we had to run and get so that we'd have some beverages. The staff at this Panera location is amazing and attentive. They really care about making sure orders are correct and are happy to make changes for guests. I had a rapid pick up order this morning that needed to be changed, and the manager and another staff member made sure it happened. Waited over 15 minutes for just a half-sandwich to go. The two people ahead of me had also been waiting quite a while for simple to-go orders. Meanwhile, they kept filling orders coming up from the basement seating area. Once the order came, the sandwich had been crammed into the paper bag and was completely mashed into a gooey mess. If I had the time and patience, I would have asked them to remake it, but it wasn't worth it. Next time I need to grab something quick in the Dupont Circle area, I will certainly go somewhere else. I never give a review but these people cannot get their shit straight. The first time I ordered from here which was a bread bowl and a salad to go, I come home to find that there were no sides. The second time I've come here I briefly checked my to go order while waiting for a friend. I ordered the same items from the first time, but when I come home I find the most disappointing they could've ever done: No bread for the bread bowl. I can't believe they would disappoint me like this because I used to love Panera Bread, but never again in DC that's for sure. read more

I really like this panera bread. Service is good, food is tasty, coffee is delicious for what it is, so all that is nice and standard. What I really like about this place is the basement seating though. Tucked away underground, you're sheltered from all the noise and bustle of DuPont circle. It's a really cute space and, as someone mentioned before, it's a great place to get work done. They'll bring your food down to you if you want and it's surprisingly peaceful on a Saturday morning. You can also eat at tables outside, which are nice but they're right next to the squeaky metro escalators, or you can eat at the limited indoor seating on the ground floor. The ground floor seating is cramped and I don't recommend it but some people seem to like it. I also haven't had any problem with the portions, which some people said were small. Granted, I only ever get the cinnamon rolls and the tomato mozzarella paninis, but both have been plentiful and well-made. There are closer panera breads to my house but I'll got out of my way a little bit to go to this one. read more

I normally try to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt, especially since I love Panera. However, this one was very disappointing with regard to their customer service. There was no one in line, but we still had to wait over five minutes for anyone to come to the register to take our order. They gave us part of our order and we had to ask for the rest of the order because it was not all there and they thought they had already given us our entire order. We were on the escalator to go to the Metro and someone came running after us saying they forgot to give us one of our sandwiches. They gave us another bag with a sandwich in it. We were headed somewhere and did not check what it was because we thought we had our entire order. Once we opened our food, we realized they had given us someone else's sandwich, which was why they had come after us with an extra one. It was almost comical how disorganized this Panera was because I have never had a bad Panera experience before this one. Then once we finally opened our food, we realized that all of the bread on the sandwiches were burnt/overcooked. I am sad and disappointed in this customer service. I will not be returning to this Panera. I still like Panera food, but my experience here was sub-par. read more

We had a delicious meal with the Moroccan stew after going to 3 different restaurants and not finding what we wanted or to long of a wait. Briana waited on us and she was awesome. I ordered rapid pick up because I needed to be at work. I ordered at about 7:07 am. Was told that my food would be ready by 7:20. I arrived at the restaurant at 7:25 only to find my food nowhere in sight. I stopped a manager and let them know that I would need my food or a refund as I needed to go and it should have been ready at 7:20. He found my food sitting on a counter!!! Seriously!? One of the less nice Panera locations in the area. The food, as with any of them, is fine, if a bit overpriced. The service is fine, too, if we're talking just about the efforts of the people who work there. The problem is that there aren't enough of them, resulting in long lines, coffee pots and soda machines that aren't refilled in a timely fashion, and the occasional unsightly mess. That problem is aggravated by decisions made at a level above the individual store's. You can't pay for your food without first answering a series of questions. Have a Panera card? Want one? Want you-pick-two? Chips, fruit or baguette? Dining in or taking out? What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow? Additionally, whoever designed the layout had the genius idea of placing both the pickup area along a narrow strip of floor bordering the rail of the stairway, itself right next to the soda machine. Crowds of people waiting for their orders accumulate there, packed like sardines. The location is convenient and there's plenty of seating. And it's still better in every way than the Cosi next door. But definitely not my first choice when I'm in the neighborhood, even for fast casual. read more

The food was was good but I wish I could say the same about the service! I've never felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome in any Panera Bread establishment until Monday! The manager stood over top of me the entire time I used the self order kiosk after her asking me if I was ok and I answered her "Yes, I'm fine"! I went on to ask her if she treats all of her customers this way and told her that I felt very uncomfortable with her approach after ordering my food and her still watching me! I was just at a meeting that Panera catered, and there was consensus that the strawberries and cut fruit were some of the best we'd ever had. Seriously, strawberries just don't taste like they used to, but those from Panera do. (Also-- the bagels and pastries were delicious. The coffee was not.) read more

So as far as "I want a salad and don't want to think" lunches for one, this Panera is really great for that. As far as "I need to feed 20 people" situations go...well, please go anywhere but here. It should not be such a hassle to order soups and salads for 20 people, especially because it's only 8 items. Their salads feed 10! But no. The last time I ordered: --delivery guy was late. --nobody bothered to call me to tell me the delivery guy was late. I had to call them, and they were all, "um...I think he's late." Thanks for the heads up! --When the delivery guy eventually showed up, he had two side salads (not the 2 large salads) and no dessert. Also, the bread wasn't scored for the soup. I'm in an office building! I don't have bread knives and cutting boards at my disposal! Share and tear is awkward! --When he came back (45 minutes later), I still didn't have the order perfect, but I didn't have the patience to deal with the mistake. AGAIN. --Their idea of compensation (other than not charging me for the food they forgot) was including several more baguettes. What am I supposed to do with three uneaten baguettes? I ended up walking around my office offering them to coworkers not in the meetings to avoid being The Girl With The Baguette In Her Purse at the bar. --I then made the mistake of having coffee for my breakfast meeting the next day (because delivery was out of the question after the lunch debacle). The order was NOT ready when I arrived and they never provided cups, napkins, etc. I need cups for coffee! This is not something I can just WING for 20, folks! The food wasn't terrible, but for a company that seems to stake so much of its reputation on catering to office workers, you'd think they'd have these details down pat. I love panera bread. A lot. So when I went to get my usual next to my new office today, I was expecting a fresh, sizable, and flavorful sandwich. Most of my expectations were filled, however the sandwich was 1/3 of the size of the turkey avocado blt at any other location. I pulled it out of the bag when I got to the park bench, and my boyfriend actually laughed, and proceeded to make some pretty unamusing "size" jokes, including but not limited to, "you're right it's not what you're used to" and something about expecting better. However, as annoyed and hangry I was at the time--his jokes really summarized the experience. Panera, that sandwich was not what I'm used to from y'all, and I did expect bigger/better." This is my friendly, neighborhood Panera! I like it overall. I usually go downstairs because there's more space. Also, get the rewards card! Best deals ever. So far I got a free pastry (Orange scone, delicios), a free coffee/tea (I got green tea, it was good), and $5 off a broth bowl (great deal, flavorful). I've tried two sandwiches, and they were both good. One had chicken, and I assumed it would be warm/hot, but apparently they only heat things up if you ask? Boo. Due to my Midwest roots I have to have access to a Panera and am saddened that some of them have closed in DC. I hope the Dupont Panera can hang on! I've been here many times for lunch or breakfast - always with good food and service, at least 4-star, results. Today, I used them for catering for breakfast and lunch and I must say, 5-star service all around. Let's start with the cashier Lauren - so nice both times. I was early both times and she offered me drinks while I waited at no cost. Excellent service - and it was really busy at lunch time. I stopped John, the manager, to compliment Lauren. He was also really nice and offered to text the driver to see where he was for my lunch order. (My boss had decided to move lunch up by 30 minutes the day of, so I was anxious though the lunch order ended up being early.) Finally, Roberto, the driver who brought the catering by. Great service. Got there early both times. Went above and beyond to help. I'm a Panera catering convert forever. I will go out of my way to eat breakfast and lunch at this Panera on a more frequent basis. And, I will tell everyone I know to use Panera catering and eat at this location because of Roberto, John and Lauren. Great, great job. read more
