This is the WORST location, we order for delivery 2-3 times a week at work, and they ALWAYS forget something or completely ruin at least one of my coworkers orders. Truly need to get it together- won't be ordering or going here ever again which is unfortunate because the other panera chains are awesome. Management doesn't care at all, considering they sent a survey to my email the last time ordered and also had an issue which was "addressed" via a phone call, but clearly didn't change anything. Losing $80-$100 a week and $320-$400 a month in sales isn't a good business move in my humble opinion but seems like this location isn't in the business of customer service-they are consistent I will give them that, consistently terrible. Clear house, get new employees, new management, just throw the whole place away- whatever it is, something needs to be done. read more

Food is decent, employees what you'd expect at a fast food restaurant, somewhat slow, somewhat cheerful. When I do, occasionally get something from Panera, I usually get the grilled cheese and a smoothie. The smoothies are unhealthy, but taste fantastic, same can not be said about the grilled cheese. Most of the time the two toasted pieces of bread are angled in such a way that I question whether or not the person who made it has eyes, there usually isn't enough cheese, and when there is most of it is on the edge of the sandwich rather than inside. I recommend that, if you do get this sandwich, you get tomato soup with it to distract yourself from the flavor. read more

I came here yesterday afternoon to visit my friend at work, I ordered a salad and a sandwich, I told them no tomatoes in my salad because I am very allergic. When I received my order it had tomatoes in the salad, by the time I noticed I already had taken a few bites so I was very upset. I asked to speak to a manager I explained what happened, she didn't seem to care, she told me they'd remake it. Shorty after I received the order, I got a text from my friend saying "don't eat the salad" I asked why, they told me they had saw their manager spit in my salad. I didn't wanna say anything to the manager out of fear that my friend would get fired or in trouble, so I threw out my salad and stormed out. I had spoken to that friend later on that day and they told me the manager does it all the time! I've always loved Panera, but that was my final straw! I will NEVER step foot in a Panera store again, that is so disgusting. She needs to be fired!! read more

It's not difficult to make a sandwich. I ordered the turkey, apple, and cheddar sandwich for pick up. I go and get it and assumed they got it right. I was incorrect. I received a bacon turkey bravo sandwich instead. So I had to go back. I drove 15 minutes out of my way again to get my original sandwich that I ordered. I confirmed with the staff that they made it properly and stupidly didn't check before I left. My mistake. I get home and the sandwich doesn't have the apples on it. I'm never returning to this Panera. Like I said. It's not difficult to make a sandwich. Especially one with so few ingredients. Guess you aren't like subway sandwich artists. The old location that was in the BIG Y shopping Plaza has moved to their new location (including Drive Thru) right down the road next to Chik.Fil.A. Went truth the drive thru for the first time, it was fast and pleasant. The inside looks clean and every worker had gloves on (huge plus). The actual parking lot could have been laid out better, as there are multiple stop signs, crosswalks, etc. They placed a brand new Chipolte in the same location right next to Panera. I assume once it opens the parking lot will be harder to navigate! Overall, shiny new location w/ decent food. read more

Yesterday, I called this Panera Bread location to order a half Mediterranean sandwich via curbside pick up around 11 am. I have ordered from this location so many times that when I called yesterday, the server knew my voice and order . When i arrived at Panera , I called to tell them I was outside & a server nervously said "oh , you had an order?" To which I replied , yes , & placed my order again. After approximately 10 minutes of waiting , with no follow up, walked into Panera to order my lunch for the now 3rd time. ! While placing my order for the 3rd time , I explained that I was on my lunch break & I had been waiting quite a while for my order to be filled & the server I spoke with gave me a complimentary bagel for waiting. While this was a decent gesture , it in no way makes up for the fact that it should not take me 3 tries to get a half of a sandwich ! I don't know how many mobile orders had to be filled but on quick scan of the interior of the restaurant, there were about 8 people inside at most. If this was a small mom & pop diner that couldn't handle more than 5 orders at a time , I could maybe understand but Panera is a billion dollar franchise that took 3 tries to get a half sandwich order done for a customer. I visited Panera Bread for the first time at the Wallingford location for a toasted bagel on last Saturday. A cashier coming on duty at 10:00 adjusted & played with her ponytail for 5 minutes in the area of the muffins & bagels before putting on her baseball cap to begin work. Her hair adjustment should have been done in bathroom & her hands washed before proceeding to register. After she adjusted her hair, no hand washing took place, she asked the next customer could she assist them. AM management at this location needs to be stricter on employees. What a turnoff for ordering food. Then she went to display counter to grab something for a customer. This being my first visit, I was not told that orders are to be picked up on other side. I stood there waiting & finally a customer told me where to go for my food. The young lady taking my order should have told me that. These employees need some customer care training, some restaurant etiquette classes on the do's & don'ts of food prep, and the importance of never flipping, combing or touching hair while dealing with food. Also, they were out of every kind of cream cheese except plain. The busiest day of week, you should not be out of this item. read more

This place is not very customer friendly. When you say "thank you" for making your order you shouldn't get glarred at and a smug "yep". This girl is so lucky I'm not her boss! Our last visit this past Sunday was one for the books..upon arriving we noticed only a few bagels left,my favorite the cranberry walnut was out ,but they had the cinnamon raisin which I ordered buttered and toasted.the counter girl told me that unfortunately they had run out of butter..she told us that we could get cream cheese instead but there would an additional fee for it. So no butter but they were going to charge us extra for cream cheese. We left and went to brueggers down the road.. Who wants a dry bagel?? First of all how does a bagel /bread shop run out of butter?? secondly isn't there about 20 places that the manager could have went to buy more butter. There's a big y, stop and shop, bjs, aldis all within two minutes of this place. a few months ago they were completely out of bagels on a Sunday morning around eleven am..No excuse..poor management...appalling. He was so helpful and remade my order no problem it was very friendly and Even went out of his way to talk to my kids . We have always enjoyed Panera as a lunch spot. We have been to the Wallingford location several times prior to the Covid shutdown. We specifically chose this location because they always had an outdoor eating area. There was a power outage in surrounding towns and were very busy When we arrived, the outdoor area was bare. No tables or seating. We went inside to order and had no problem as the order taker was friendly and efficient. We were directed to stand at a pickup area. We ordered two "pick 2" lunches. After 30 minutes we were still standing at the pickup area. The drive thru and take out orders were moving right along. I finally went to speak to an order taker to ask why two sandwiches, a salad and a cup of soup took 30 minutes and she told me I was next on the screen. Two more take out orders subsequently came out. We finally got our order in two paper bags in takeout containers. As we were eating a man complained that he was waiting 30 minutes for his coffee and shouted " I'm not coming back". The "chef" snapped back " you don't have to come back!" What service!!! Perhaps they were short handed? Perhaps they had untrained staff? Perhaps they should close the inside part of the restaurant and only do takeout. Who knows? The food was typical Panera and was good. The service was plain awful and I would never go back to that location read more

This has got to be the dirtiest Panera I've ever seen, the toilets are filthy, seriously on a scale of 1 - 10 they get a minus 10! Not one clean table, its 4:30PM on a Sunday, no mid week rush hour lunch or dinner, and yet all the tables have crumbs and other food leftovers scraps. And what's up with the tip jar? I'm getting food at the counter for crying out loud! Not only is there a tip jar, if you pay with a CC it asks you the tip amount How about keeping the place clean before asking for tips just for handing me a cup for tea? And when I went to ask for soy/almond milk for my tea, the girl asked me what for? In every other panera location soy/almond milk are given at the kitchen without wierd looks and questions ...since they don't ask for extra money why not just have it at the coffee station, I'm not the only one that doesn't do dairy milk.... read more

This is my favorite location! The service is superlative, outstanding, fantastic, excellent! Mostly I would go through the drive thru, occasionally dine in. They verify for accuracy, are timely, helpful, cordial, amiable, vigilant of my food allergies, point out any rewards on my card, and inside is immaculate, cozy. I like the fireplace. Went to this Panera for lunch today. While I was waiting for my food by the pickup counter, I saw an employee fling a full bag of garbage down the employee hallway next to the bench. Then he went on to go wipe off some tables with the same gloves. I was glad that I got my food to-go. When I finally got back to my office and unwrapped my sandwich, there was only one strip of bacon on my "Bacon Turkey Bravo" sandwich. I'm avoiding this location and probably Panera altogether. I have given this location more chances than I care to admit. For the price, you would think everything would be done correctly, but think again. When you work in an office, Panera can be the "go to" choice often. However, my office is done. At least twice a week, we give this location anywhere from $50-$100 in orders. And EVERY SINGLE TIME they fail us. In the past month, this is what has happened. An hour after placing online orders, a co-worker went to grab them and the staff told her "they forgot about us" and nothing was ready. Completely unacceptable! Then when we did receive our orders, half of them were missing items. Last week, I personally went through the drive thru to grab a sandwich because I worked a late night and I just wanted something quick, easy and not greasy. Even after having my order repeated to me, my ENTIRE order was wrong. I went in and wasn't met with the best customer service, had my sandwich practically thrown at me (I had to pick up my chips off the floor after catching my sandwich) and I was offered a free cookie. Sure the cookie was nice, but it didn't help the fact that I just worked a 12 hour shift and just wanted a simple turkey sandwich that I had to come back in and have re-done after waiting inside for 20 minutes. Just ridiculous. Then today, the office decided on Panera again. I got my simple turkey bacon sandwich (bacon was extra, which I paid for) and guess what. No bacon! The office and I decided that was enough. It is too much hassle. There are so many more Mom and Pop deli's that are better, closer and cheaper than to have to keep going through this crap with a place that clearly doesn't give a $hit! read more

I will avoid going to any Panera Bread now but I will especially never go to the Panera Bread in Wallingford. I got extreme food poisoning as well as my husband and friends when we ate there. First we all had soups Autumn Squash and Chicken & Wild Rice. All of us needed to be hospitalized and ALL of us had E-Coli poisoning per the hospital. It came on for all FIVE of us within two hours. This particular place must not be clean because when I talked to others they assured me that they have had food poisoning from this establishment In Wallingford, CT as well as other Paneras around the country. I called to explain to them what had happened and who ever picked up the phone as he would not give me his name told me it wasn't from them and continued to say that. I then asked to speak with a manager because I found him to be rude and he said that he was busy. I called back an hour later and asked again and he hung up on me so I asked my husband to call and ask for a manager and we finally spoke with one who at least apologized and said they take this seriously. They did nothing. However, it doesn't change my experience of being sick two days then hospitalized for two. Do yourself a favor and make your own soup from home. We have looked at several reviews in reference to food poisoning and Panera Bread is high their previous staff WARN customers to stay away because they keep their soups for weeks and continue to freeze and defrost and freeze and defrost the same batch several times within a week. I am not surprised I got food poisoning and neither were any of the doctors at the hospital they see the most food poisoning in their field with Panera Bread. read more

First time I have been to the new Wallingford location. The food at the Meriden location was better and more plentiful. I ordered half a tuna fish sandwich and salad and there was not more than maybe one tablespoon of tuna on there. In meriden, they used to give you an actual half a sandwich , not a spoonful. Salad had no dressing on it and half the salad was edemas. First and last time I will go to lunch there. Too many better options. cost $10 also. read more

I had visited the Panera in Wallingford. I had purchased a Frozen Lemonade. It had gone bad. I took one sip and knew it was RANCID!!!! I had called and complained they offered me another one when I came in. I think Not!!! I didn't to take a chance. We had a meeting today during our lunch our & our rep went & pick up our lunch. When he came in our entire order was incorrect. Two of our staff received the wrong order & one didnt have a lunch. Panera usually has great food, but the preparation for delivery stinks. My co-workers and I order lunch occasionally and the last 3 times I have ordered mayo and all 3 times received none. This last time ( the 3rd time) I actually made a point of requesting for the mayo on the side and even went as far as including in the message to please not forget the mayo, because it had been forgotten on the last 2 orders. They still did not include the mayo, so I called and complained and was told they did not have any mayo packets but could have put some in a mini dressing container......which is exactly what they should have done, so why didn' t they? Further more since the obvious solution did not occur to anyone why was I not called to have the option to alter my order, especially since all online orders require your telephone number to place the online order, so they had the information to communicate with me. Anyone reading the notation on the order should have realized that due to my notation of not having had the mayo on the last two orders, that this order was their last chance to get it right. The manager on the phone did offer to make a new sandwich and have it delivered, but what good would that gave been, since I was on my half hour lunch break when I called to complain. By the time they would have arrived my lunch time would be long gone. For some reason the Manager felt all she could do to make up for the mistake was to deliver mayonaise or a sandwich. Even after explaining to her the timing of my half our lunch, she somehow felt that the delivery of mayo or a sandwich were the only two customer service options she was able to offer. Since she was willing to have a new sandwich delivered, why not offer the free sandwich for a future order, or a free beverage on my next order, which by the way one of those options would have been stearing me to a next order, but that was not thought of, so I had an unsatisfactory sandwich, which was unsatisfactorly consistant with the last two unsatisfactory sandwiches. Thumbs up on you unsatisfactory consistancy. I am done with Panera. read more

I went to the new Panera in Wallingford and had the two Mediteranian Flat breads. It is a basic cabbage sandwich with with 1oz. of chicken. In a discussion with a manage I was told that Corporate tells the store how much chicken to place on the sandwich. There also was no hot water for tea, and the decaf coffee was four hours old. They wouldn't make a new pot of decaf because it was 6;00 p.m. and they don't make decaf after 2:00 p.m. in an effort to control waste. Sorry, but the corporate decision has forced me to make the decision never to return to any Panera. read more

I don't know why I try to keep kidding myself. Even though the menu says "New England Clam Chowder" No New Englander in their rite mind would call what that is "New England" Clam Chowder. What it tastes like is a watered down paste with a splash of Clam Sauce.. More like a drop or two of Clam Sauce. New England Clam Chowder is supposed to have some thickness to it and also have some actual clams and potato in it. I ordered 3 large. I ate 2 of them together. In the entire soup was "I'm not kidding !!! About 3 tiny pieces of Clam and two tiny squares of potato. And man it was like water no thickness at all. It's as if they added something to trying and thicken it but it was like sand very lite sand. Please go to Chowder Pot and taste what actual clam chowder should taste like. If you are going to keep making your chowder this way, then please change the name of it to either Clam soup or Clam Milk. But hey... You make some pretty good bread :) read more
