I'm a big fan of Panera and often take advantage of their free Wi-Fi. Their food is usually pretty good, though there are times when their salads are not so good. This doesn't happen often, but sometimes their lettuce isn't very fresh. I definitely recommend their "you pick two" deal, since an entire salad or sandwich can be a bit much. This lets you have a little more variety. There's something about this particular location that I really like. Half the time, I order for rapid pickup. Half the time we dine in. Dine in is usually fine. We order from the table via the App. Order is usually correct. But when I order for rapid pickup, there are a number of times when the delivery drivers are parked in the 15 minute spots in front of the restaurant. Seems to me the 15 minute spots right up front should be reserved for people who would just go in and out. I would think the delivery drivers should park in other spots. read more

Oh Panera. How I love thee. I can count on you when I'm at home or in a strange city to offer me some sort of comfort. Bagels, sandwiches or salads. Whether its just for me or a business lunch I can depend on Panera to deliver decent food. Panera bagels are my absolute favorite! If Western Bagel was on the East coast, I wouldn't even walk into Panera for my bagels. However, since I'm denied Western Bagels, Panera is my go-to. One of my favorite traditions is to sneak out of the house on Saturday or Sunday mornings at 7am and get the fiance his hazelnut coffee and pack of bagels for the week. I come back looking like a superstar delivering the goods of the gods...all courtesy of Panera. The line here around 9-10 am on the weekends are INSANE. It snakes out the door, but it really does move quickly so don't let that discourage you. Parking is easy, but again I must vent about the stupid planning of the parking lots in Ashburn.... One exit out of the lot you can't go north and have to exit south, then wait at a light to do a U-Turn. The other exit you can only exit west...but if you need to go east, you have to do a u-turn --but there is a sign forbidding you to do so! If you keep going straight you go miles before you hit Gum Spring. ARGGGH!!!! Regardless of the lack of common sense planning on the city, I will continue to visit Panera. Their bagels are awesome, and with fall right around the corner, I am looking forward to some of the menu changes! read more

The customer service at this Panera is next to nothing now. Went to place an order for my coffee subscription and they are not taking any online orders and won't answer the phones. My family and I returned tonight to the South Riding Panera and had a wonderful experience... The Tea's were full and appropriately marked (sweet was sweet instead of unsweetened, etc...) Service was surprisingly prompt and when a line formed another cashier opened to handle the increase in patrons... There was a general manager "Dave" behind the counter that was teaching the staff how to do things better and seemed to be making a difference. We spoke for a few minutes and he has completely cleaned house. Things have definitely improved in this restaurant. The floors are still dirty, BUT the service is prompt, food is made correctly and the employees seem to care about the restaurant... Things are definitely looking up for this Panera... This is probably the worst Panera I've ever been to in my life. First of all, they don't answer the phone EVER. If you order something and they don't have it, they don't even mention it they just give you missing food. Today I ordered soup and a yogurt parfait and they put the yogurt on top of the soup so my yogurt was HOT. If you know anything about food safety you know dairy products are supposed to kept cold to be safe to eat. This location has never been good. The food is, when I'm actually able to get it or it doesn't take an hour to get it, really good. I really enjoyed this place until recently the service has just been horrible. I'll order a cup of soup and have to wait an hour for it to come out. I ordered a four cheese soufflé today. I know that they're pretty high demand, but I didn't realize ordering one meant I'd have to wait an insane amount of time until I could actually get it. I eventually got so pissed that I went inside and saw that my order was literally sitting on the curbside orders tables for god knows how long. Overall good for a quick bite at lunch. Light and airy atmosphere and free wi-fi allows you to get in and eat quickly or come in and sit down and relax and surf the net while eating. With a variety of sandwiches most everyone can be pleased. The only thing I didn't like was the chicken salad sandwich. It had way too much mayo and it was too sweet for my taste. Panera Bread is a bakery and restaurant. For those who aren't familiar, PB is basically high-end lunch fare, with soups, sandwiches, and salads. I'm partial to the soups, as is my family. The bread is delicious, and you can even get the soup in a "bread" bowl. The sandwiches are also very good, with a good selection of specialty combinations and sauces. They also have panini's. You order your food at the register and receive a pager device. When your food is ready, you are paged to pick it up. The food is made to order and, in general, they are relatively fast at preparation. That said, we have had experiences on both ends of the spectrum. I have also noticed that when they are busy, the tables tend not to get cleaned off. I would give them 3.5 stars (if I could) for that reason. Okay, first off Panera is a nation-wide chain. A place where you typically know what to expect if you've ever eaten at a Panera before. As far as the food goes, I have always enjoyed their soups, salads, sandwiches, bagels; everything they have is pretty good. For this particular location I've never had an issue with my food. South Riding and the nearby Stone Ridge communities are quite large and this (to the best of my knowledge) is the closest Panera for the SR, Aldie area. With that said, I wish the location was a tad bit bigger. If you go during peak times the restaurant and tables are really crowded. Staff is friendly, food tastes good and they do a decent job of keeping the restaurant clean. read more

Ever since the remodeling has been done, fruit flies have been all over the restaurant. Today, after picking up my rapid pick-up order, I started to eat my sandwich only to find one of those fruit flies, dead. They had wrapped up a dead fly with my sandwich with no care. This was the first time I've ever ordered online and wasn't able to order for delivery ASAP. I ordered a breakfast sandwich a bagel and 2 muffie's. I am so disappointed with this chain. I have not been to a Panera in awhile but stopped into this one and was shocked when I looked at the menu board that the GF indicators were not on the menu. I asked and was told that Panera no longer had gluten free food. i asked to see the book that I have looked at during prior visits for the allergen lists and learned that NOTHING on the menu was gluten free. It's 4 in the Afternoon the place has hardly anyone in it and no one greeted me and I stood in front of the register for over 5 minutes - the manager is walking around attempting to carry food to the tables and looking at his phone - plus I had to wait for over 10 minutes for my half sandwich to be ready. This Panera has to be the worst I have ever been too. Once again they manage to screw up my order. I don't think I have ever been completely satisfied any time I've come in. If you're going to eat here, make sure you go in and actually eat and not get take out. They'll run out of stuff, give you a substitute without confirming it's okay, and just leave it for you to take home like nothings wrong. If you do take out, check everything before you go, or you'll be in for a big surprise when they put the wrong spread on your mangle sandwich that looks like a dog threw it together, you won't get the specific bagels you paid for, or they just give you a cup of soup when you paid the extra money for a bowl. read more

As you can tell by my profile, I do not normally write reviews, but our last 2 orders (3/24/2021, today - 4/30/2021) have been beyond disappointing. The first online order on 3/24, half the order was missing and while they refunded the order, I never actually received the money for that refund in my account. The second online order (today, 4/30), I get the email that the order was delivered, but no food ever arrived at our house. Both orders were near $50 each. I had to call about 10 times (outside their "busy" hours) when they messed up the first time in order to get that refund that we never received. Now, I have called 6 times (again outside their "busy" hours) with no one picking up. This location is very unreliable with their orders and I cannot trust them to get our food delivered correctly anymore. Even if I cancel, I cannot trust that I'll even get my money back. Your typical panera bread decor, great fast service ( lines can sometimes be all the way to the entrance,) sandwiches are tasty and the salads very fresh ,food never disappointed me and the free wifi is easy and fast. The only downfall is that it's a small resturant and during lunch time it can get pretty full and crowded, hard to find a seat.( would recommend during peak hours grab a seat first and then go order.) I used to love Panera Bread but something changed in recent years. The lunch sandwiches are nothing to write home about and the same goes for their bagels/breakfast. If you plan on ordering ala carte be prepared for blank looks and confusion as they try to ring you up. They are just not used to it. Bagel Buddies doesn't have the same ambiance, but the bagels are far better. We will only go back to Panera if we are desperate. I have eaten here several times. I usually get the tuna sandwich half with cup of broccoli cheddar soup. It always comes out delicious and on time. Friendliest staff I've met! The rush isn't as bad as much Panera's can be. I believe at one part in time there were 30 people standing in line and two "order takers" handled it with ease. Kitchen and staff really have a great system of running things. I'm here a little too much but over time I've noticed management is very kind to their employees and customers. Also SIGN UP FOR A MY PANERA CARD! If you go to a Panera frequently they call your orders by name, so it's very personable.
