I was counting money and took a second to answer her question and she said it again almost yelling at me. I apologized and she continued to be rude and not offer any sort of polite response. I have always loved Panera, but it's always been a drive to get to one. Now that I moved to Solana Beach and found that there's one right down the street, I thought I'd try it out. AMAZING. The food was great as always, but the customer service was awesome as well. We had had a tiny mistake on one of our orders, and the manager (or owner?) rectified the situation and was more than generous. Also, this Panera has a great outdoor seating area with nice patio furniture and a fire pit ... it was perfect for right around sunset when we came. Overall, I can say that this location earns a 5 out of 5 in every category, and would highly recommend it to others. Also, sign up for their club thing. As most of the other reviews mention, the customer service is everything here. Great service. We went for dinner, so obviously it wasn't as packed as morning/day time, but they were still very quick and attentive. The manager at this place keeps everything running very smoothly. I think it's great that the manager himself is so involved with everything, it keeps all the other employees on their feet and if there is any problem, it's fixed right away. Just ok. My salad was missing its chicken which happens often at many Paneras. I walked up to the counter to confirm if it had chicken, after all it's named Strawberry Poppyseed Chicken Salad. The food preparer, some millenial, starts complaining that he can't do everything and that he is overwhelmed. The restaurant is not even half full WTF are you bitching about. HORRENDOUS service for catering. My company has gone there at least 54 times for lunch in the past 18 months, and they only got the order right once. ONCE! It is the same order 3 times a month. I am there waiting for at least 15-20 extra minutes on each visit while they fix the order or add the items they forgot to make. EVERY TIME! When I finally explained to my boss why I disliked going there to pick up lunch, he understood and we have never gone back. Love the fresh breads, apple pastries, sandwich selection, cobb salad and chicken soups here. Everything is fresh and they make it easy to eat healthy. People are very friendly here. I used to go daily last year and always carry out because it is crowded until they started to get my orders wrong constantly. I have been going back this summer because it is really hard to find a local place with fresh, healthy foods at reasonable prices. Now they have paneralistens and the rewards program. I think they have been making improvements and it shows so I will keep going. Lastly, please make sure there are apple pastries all day/every day! They always run out when I crave them. read more

We arrived at this Panera Bread early on a Sunday, about 7:30AM. There were no other customers at that time. The woman working was super friendly, the problem was the cleanliness of the restaurant. It was filthy! Dust and crumbs on the tables and counters. There was a wad of chewing gum on the bench where you are supposed to sit waiting for to-go food. That early I would have thought the restaurant would be clean, it was far from it. The carpet had not been vacuumed, it was a real disappointment to see how dirty everything was. read more

I had an order placed for this Monday and they emailed me yesterday stating that they no longer accept Cost Center Billing per Steve Bordun and Stacy Curtain. To cancel a business catering order on such short notice is highly unprofessional and bad business. I am very disappointed and now I have to scramble to find an alternative. Horrible! I have not been here in a while and I brought my kid here for dinner and was completely surprised at the lack of quality! My kid couldn't even eat the Mac n cheese as it was "sour" tasting. The Cobb salad was horrible. The serving, hardly any chicken, they forgot the bacon when I went back to get some it looked green. I had to order and pay for extra chicken just to get a decent serving of it in the salad. Don't bother coming here. Poor is an overstatement. read more

The staff and service here is amazing. I work across the street from here and come in regularly. Eva and Macarena, in particular make every coffee pit stop a pleasure. The store manager has been incredible to talk to and taken care of me when I had questions. The cashiers have taken the time to know my name and order when I come in even better than the shift managers that I always hope that I get them rather than a manager. The managers are extremely efficient though not quiet as friendly as their incredible staff. read more

Well this WAS one of my favorite places to go to get a meal while I studied/ did homework. But after tonight's experience, I will never go back to this establishment. It was nearing closing time and the manager notified my friend and I who were both taking a test online. We acknowledged him and apologized and told him we would be done in a few minute as we has less than 4 questions left, he thanked us and went back to his closing duties. Just a few minutes later an employee came over and rudely said "Really?! We're closed and you need to go." He said this as we were both standing there packing out stuff to go. This is such a reliable choice and can satisfy anyone! You can get soup, salad, sandwiches or pizza and combinations. They have a full Batista bar and bakery and the service is great! The food is a good deal and the free wifi is a nice touch. If you head in at lunch time you will have a long wait ahead of you. The line is often out of the door but it moves quick. Panera's usually pretty solid, but what really annoys me is their alternating soup schedule - it's ridiculous. I have to plan out what days I can get black bean soup. It's one of the few times I'm in the area and actually have time off for lunch, and so I come here today excited for bbs, and it's not on the menu - what the heck! I'm a big fan of this Panera. I meet clients there quite a bit for business lunches and also have used them quite a bit for catering and they do a fantastic job. Jeff is the assistant manager and he could not be a more friendly or helpful person to work with. I came by to pick up my order in a rush and they were friendly- helped me carry everything to the car and made sure the entire order was perfect. It was a huge crowd pleaser. This place is alright. So as a vegetarian, I don't feel like there are that many options. I usually get the you pick two combo which is like $7 and you get to choose any 1/2 sandwich, soup or salad and a side (sides are chips, two different types of baguette, wheat or white, and something else i forgot). All the salads have meat on them, which i can ask for w/o meat but then it's just a shitty salad I can make at home. There is usually only one vegetarian soup out of ~7 choices and it's almost always lentil. I do NOT like lentil soup. So the vegetarian sandwiches I can get without saying none of this or that are the Portabello mozzeralla panini and the mediterranean something or rather. I haven't ever gotten the mediterranean one because I dont' like feta cheese and it just doesn't sound good. The portabello one is just OK, because the mushroom is marinated in some weird stuff that makes it sour tasting and it's not that good. It also makes the bread soggy. The star item here though is THE SIDE (surprise!!)! I get the whole grain baguette which is like a 4" piece of baguette, and it is the best baguette I have ever had. It's nutty and seedy and delicious. I have contemplated just getting a whole baguette and eating that instead of getting the combo but thats way too many carbs for me. If you do decide to go here, get the baguette! I've also tried their bagels, the french toast bagel is pretty good, but sweet. I got a bagel here one morning and found out that they don't cream cheese your bagel for you. I can't remember if they even sliced it. They just handed me a small container of cheese and a knife. I also had a coffee drink one time which was disgustingly sweet and I will never get again. They do have free wi-fi tho which is nice, although I've never taken advantage of that. read more

This place is consistently understaffed in the mornings and the egg items tend to be unavailable at 7am; I just don't understand. The manager and employees at the Panera Bread in Solana Beach, California are truly an exceptional group of people. As graduate students my friends and I spend many weekend days working on school assignments. We live all over the greater San Diego area; however, every weekend we come to this particular Panera Bread location regardless of the distance because of the stellar service we have received. The employees are all patient, tolerant, and kind. They have gone out of their way to express support for us. Moreover, I have a number of dietary restrictions and as a result must request alterations to most items on the menu. The staff at this location have been incredibly understanding of my restrictions, and have always been able to provide delicious food that I can eat - delivered with a smile. I have always had a wonderful experience at this Panera. Although they get busy the line always moves fast and if there is a line there is often samples and even mini cookies to munch on. There staff is sweet as can be and very professional. I'm so happy that there is a panera in this area. Its a wonderful and fast and reasonably priced place to go where you don't feel you need to rush out the door. I would stay here all day if I didn't have to work. :) read more

Quality has declined over the years, while prices continue to go up. $6.49 for a grilled cheese sandwich and an apple. A dinner roll instead of a baguette. Last four times I've been in the restaurant (over the course of a year) it has been very dirty. Sad to see the decline. read more
