Dining in this panera with my 2 boys. My son did not like his sandwich, I asked if I can get soup instead, and staff accommodated me without hesitation. The manager approached after the fact and wanted to make sure he was happy, NICE !! I went back to ask another slice of baguette and a bag of chips to eat with his soup, and they did not charge me. Ordered a steak and arugula sandwich to go. Got to my car and opened up my sandwich and it was missing half of the ingredients it should have had. All it had on it was steak, tomatoes and avocado (which was extra). It didn't even have the arugula that's in the name!! I took it back it and explained that it was missing half of what should have come on the sandwich. They apologized and said they would remake it. They didn't remake just threw on a couple of the missing ingredients. They did this quickly but they still left off ingredients. Needless to say I won't be returning to this location. read more

Price is a bit on the high side (and deserving of the $$s), but at least the food is healthy and quality is generally good. Love the "rapid pick-up order" on the Panera app for it's convenience and ability to customize your order. Have "rapid ordered" several times with food pick-up available in 10 minutes. The downside is that more times than not, something is been missing in my meals. Not worth driving back to get the missing chicken, side, or sauce. Solana Panera either needs to get their accuracy better, or maybe Panera Corporate needs to not offer 10 minute turnaround times. I'm a fan of the salads (thai chicken, chicken soba noodle, a fuji apple chicken) and the autumn pumpkin/squash soup (when it's in season). DO NOT order take out from Panera Bread in Solana Beach. The company for delivering the food - Postmates - is horrible! If the order is not correct, they will not re-deliver the food. This has happened several times vs. being a one-time occurrence. When you call to ask for the rest of your order the manager via who answered the phone, "Oh, we have no way of connecting with Postmates." Say what - how can you not be connected with your delivery service company? Talk about a horrible example of customer service. read more

Having gone to Panera for decades, the Solana Beach location is by far my favorite! It is so cozy, both indoors and outside, and most importantly is staffed by fantastic people that always make us feel comfortable. I wish I was better at remembering names, but a couple of folks in particular come to mind. Kevin is on top of everything - he can always be seen working really hard to ensure good service and can totally be trusted to do right by patrons. And in every single interaction Alex absolutely shines as showing she genuinely cares about the customer experience. Last night my friend and I were just raving to each other about how far above other places the service is. I love Panera, we don't go as often as I would like but most visits to this location have been good. I knock 1 star because a few times when I ordered a sandwich w bacon, I have asked for it to be heated to a crisp and every time it comes out cold and soggy which I take back to the counter and wait to have it microwaved. Customer Service is always good here. Love this location because it's huge, and kept clean. I recently tried the hot coco! Omg, it's a meal in itself. Yum. Very tasty. I enjoy their salads most, and soups. Mac and cheese was pretty darn creamy and delicious if you have small kids. I like sitting outside here by the fire pit and just chill out while eating. I don't review a ton of chains unless they have a particularly amazing philosophy and my experiences with the Solana Beach location have been so stellar that I have to give them a shout out. On rainy days at my office we all feel like picking up take out from somewhere offsite for lunch and I usually volunteer to run down the hill to pick up everyone's favorites from this Panera location. I don't call ahead, I show up with my list and literally, I am out of there within 15 minutes with a perfect order. Its packed up nicely and with the most polite and attentive service! The tomato soup is a favorite, as well as the fuji apple salad. As a treat try the cookies from the baked goods window. I have always loved Panera but this location takes the cake when it comes to service. I recently ordered a salad that I didn't realize came with cheese- which I absolutely hate. It's weird, I know, and I hate being that obnoxious person who sends things back when it's clearly not the restaurants fault. So I proceeded to start picking apart my salad before trying to eat it. A man who I believe to be the manager saw this and immediately checked to see if I wanted a new salad. He offered to make me a fresh one- and I kept the rest of the first salad for someone at home ;). I can appreciate when someone goes the extra mile to make their customers happy. Here are some common sense ways you can improve from a 2 Banger: #1 - Place the Iced Coffee NEAR THE ICE. #2 - If you are all out of a particular bread/bagel type, first of all be aware of it and secondly tell the customer AT the point of sale. #3 - If you are out of an item, ASK the customer what they might want instead. Don't pretend to be intelligent and make your own substitution and just bring the product out to the customer. After not visiting Panera for years, we decided to stop by for a quick lunch, we were right in the neighborhood so we decided to give it a try, since we'd forgotten why we avoid it. We were quickly reminded why! A number of issues: Food presentation and taste looks that of a sixth grader making and prepping your meal. Nothing has significant flavor that excites you. The soup tastes to that of canned and store bought. For the price point you'd expect a bit more bang for your buck, as there are plenty of other establishments that provide better service and fresh food. Customer service: The woman that assisted us was too busy paying attention to her coworkers rather than the customer in front of her (me) and she misheard me not once but twice and got my order wrong. Was rude and just vague at what her position was supposed to consist of (she wasn't in training either). I got the 1/2 lunch deal, which was the Chipotle avocado chicken sandwich and extra pastry, along with tea, my friend getting the "full" chicken avocado, chips with a beverage ran us at $26.75. I say rather expensive and not worth what they served. I would rather go to any other mom and pop establishment from this point on. As a regular at Panera, I get to see the customer service from each employee. There is one particular employee who runs the entire place as if he is a manager. In fact, he deserves so much to be given a raise or promotion because he bot only grinds himself daily, he does so with a friendly demeanor even if he appears to be tired. Daniel keeps Panera running smoothly and uses his good runner/busser position as a way to make sure everyone is happy by constantly checking in around the restaurant. Daniel, you rock! I was very disappointed with the service I received today. Other Panera Bread locations have dazzled me, this one needs help. A couple of the staff members need serious training. I was greeted with a friendly hello. That was fine. But they were out of sourdough bread which was a bummer. So I chose an alternative bread that he suggested. They were out of that too. So I went with French baguette. I was told I get a free pastry with my club points. I asked for it to go and instead of putting it in a to-go box like I get at every other Panera bread he just put it directly in a bag :-/ No box. Then when my food was delivered, I saw that there was a skimpy amount of shredded cheese on my French onion soup. French onion soup is supposed to be smothered in gruyere cheese. I asked the woman for more cheese and she told me there's already a lot in there. I told her that French onion soup is supposed to have a lot of cheese on top and she gave me the DIRTIEST look and rolled her eyes. The look a mother gives his child when acting up. I couldn't believe how nasty of a response to give me a dirty look like that. She returned with a tiny ramekin of cheese. Ugh. Then my sandwich was sloppily thrown together with everything falling out of it. It was difficult to eat. And not enough avocado at all! I'm pretty disappointed and will probably not come back to this location. Please train your staff on proper food handling and customer service skills. Dirty looks are NOT okay! I'm a Panera fan, and this one is no exception to the usual Panera-ness that I've experienced before. This one is unique with their outdoor firepit area. I'm a big fan of the you pick 2, but almost always pick different items. The French Onion soup is always a great call. I love the bread bowls for when I'm feeling a little under the weather. Came in on a Friday morning, around 7.30am. Not many people so crowds weren't really an issue. Service at the counter was friendly enough. The unfortunate part was that I had ordered oatmeal, to go. When I got to work, to eat my breakfast, the container was only like 70% full, and in that 70% there was a lot of empty space, as well. I came to this location for the first time since it was close to the church I attended. After we ordered food for the 3 of us, we found a table and waited for about 20 minutes. My boyfriend noticed that our food hadn't come out in a while, so he went to the front and saw our food was on the counter, becoming cold. It upset him that our food wasn't brought to us and nobody was doing anything about it. The employee replaced the old soup. The manager then came to us, sincerely apologized, and brought us 4 smoothie drinks on the house for the inconvenience. I have been ignored, served a cold $4.00 latte and they have yet to get my order right. All without an apology, they act like it is somehow my fault. Once we walked in at 10:40am. The woman behind the counter could hear us talking about what to order for breakfast. We took a while to decide (no one else waiting) only to be told they were no longer serving breakfast.
