My son and I are African American and were in line today at the Panera Bread in Coleman Plaza. When we were called next to give our order, we were literally knocked out of the way as we walked to the register by a White male. He approached the counter and was instantly waited on by Maddie, a White employee, with zero recognition of his actions. When I mentioned my son and I were next and his behavior was extremely rude, Brisa Hernandez (the store manager) jumped in and said "we don't have time for you, can't you see we are busy". I asked for an apology, she refused and said there was nothing I could do about it, because she was the manager. Went here for lunch today. I ordered the summer special strawberry chicken poppy salad and my boyfriend got the bolognese pasta. My salad was absolutely amazing filled with all sorts of fruit and lots of chicken. Sadly it's only a summer thing. It's healthy and extremely filling. The pasta was a small portion for a "large". I thought that would be more of a "small". It did taste good though - the sauce wasn't overpowering and had just the right amount of taste to it. However, it lacked sauce and the bread that came with it was a bit too hard. We also got lemonade which they stated was "free refills" but we couldn't find the lemonade refill area. Paid extra to replace the normal chicken in a salad with seared chicken thighs. They put very small pieces, see photo. This is the second time I've paid extra and they skimped. I highly suggest not getting any replacements you have to pay $2+ for since they do not even give you a normal sized portion. i came here with 2 friends after running a race across the street @ arena green/guadalupe park. i hadn't eaten at panera for a while, so was pleasantly surprised to see the new offerings on their menu for breakfast/brunch, as well as iPads available for credit card orders (which saved time waiting in line to order with a human being). i actually ended up doing a customized order on the iPad, which was really convenient since you could add or subtract any ingredient you wanted: +egg white +spinach +tomato +red onion +avocado +feta cheese +everything bagel i clicked order, swiped my credit card, took a pager, and sat down with my friends. a few minutes later, my pager buzzed and i collected my order. my breakfast sammy was made exactly as i specified, and still warm, which was perfect since i was starting to get cold after my run! all of the ingredients tasted pretty fresh, and i thought this was well worth the $5 and change that i paid. great location inside the san jose market center, which is conveniently located just off the 87 freeway and very close to downtown san jose. read more

I hardly ever eat-in here, always do take-out or order ahead. No problems with prompt and ease of service in either case. I'm a big fan of their butternut squash soup during the fall season - so creamy and delicious, and a broccoli cheddar soup lover any time! Unfortunately broccoli cheddar soup is a fave among most, so occasionally it ran out a couple times we placed an online order. The option is not grayed out an unclickable option, so until you reach check out you don't know that it's not available. Website glitch or not, it's quite a bummer! I have had this location cater my company's lunches a few times and only once was there an issue with a missing sandwich. I called to amend the issue, and a credit was given vs a new sandwich (because it would have taken too long to arrive). The delivery folks are super nice and come within the time frame selected. A little pricey, but much better quality and variety than Specialty's for sure! Will order from them again! read more

I always come to this Panera bread , never had a bad experience. However today, we came 45 mins before closing. We order our food and the cashier asked if we wanted to eat in or take it out. I use Panera for many of my corporate needs. A few months ago I experienced an issue with one of the restaurants and reached out to management. Corporate quickly contacted me, took care of the issue and followed up, additionally expressed that I give them another chance. The last few orders I've put through with the Coleman location and I must say, I've been won over! 1) on time 2) great service 3) attention to detail 4) organization 5) presentation 6) food quality 7) taste All fabulous! it truly exceeded my expectations and it's important that customers and Panera know this. We ate dinner here tonight, Panera Bread. I had a turkey, bacon avacado on sour dough bread. I could have made it better at home. The sandwich was barely average. My grandaughter, 5, only ordered an apple, & chips, but refused more than one bite of the apple it was musshy. That means old to me. My son had a 1/2 sandwich & chicken Alfredo. He said it was not special. Just ok. His wife had same. She thought it was okay. My daughter had a salad & tomatoes basil soup. She said salad was good but stated the soup tasted kind of like ragu spaghetti sause from a jar, but not quite that good. On that food slone its barely a one star. To top it off, we went to collect our pastry at the end of the meal & found a fly kicking back on a cinnamon roll. All of the pasties were sitting out on the open. Completely exposed to this & other flies, dust, air, you name it. I told the cashier there was a fly on the pasty. She acted not at all concerned. She said that's because the door keeps opening. (Yeah, so customers can cone in) The complete lack of concern, really freaked me out. leaving me to wonder what other disgusting food safety measures were they ignoring! I asked for the manager who came & directed them to return my four dollars the amount from my $58 dinner ticket I spent for 4 pastries. $.99 if purchased with a meal. She never apologized, she never removed the fly, she never even tossed out the roll the fly was still sitring on. In fact, she did not even looked me in the face. By now cashier number 2 had taken over it had been more than 7 minutes & the fly was still bouncing around from roll to roll. Not one person lifted a finger to correct the situation. I asked the server, don't you think you should do something about this. She said like what. I said, like covering the food so that flies can't crawl all over it . Her response, " We can't cover them, the moisture would ruin the pastry." Evidently millons of germs & fly larva isn't bad enough for them To consider them ruined. Pathetic! I probably came here for at least two times already travelling into San Jose from Sacramento. It's a typical Panera Bread. Went to many in Sacramento, and one in Stockton. I ordered a cheese pastry and a mocha. It's pretty typical. WIFI is pretty limited, so don't count on staying here all day if you are having a meeting or study. You're limited to a certain amount of time. They do this so you are not lounging around and that they have a fresh set of customers throughout the day. Understandable! I have to say.....pretty much wherever I look in this particular Panera Bread...people are very tech savvy. Wherever I look, someone is with a tablet or laptop. Not very common in Sacramento. Interesting and still typical Panera Bread. Not bad.....its clean and well maintained. Food still taste good. I recommend it to people to try it out. read more

I'm no longer really a fan of Panera. At one point I adored their soups. An ex of mine is from St. Louis so it was a mainstay in our date rotation. But is it just me or have the sandwiches gotten... bad? I remember them having more meat. I remember them being warm and filling. I could barely finish my two slices of turkey on a cold tasteless bun. I felt embarrassed I'd agreed to coming here. Their soup was the saving grace. I love their chicken noodle and always have. ONLINE ORDERING: do NOT order online for delivery on their website UNLESS you use their Catering button. I placed an order for $130. to be delivered assuming it would be faster/cheaper than using DoorDash. Lunch was suppose to arrive 11:15 am. 45 minutes later, we still had not received out lunch. Phoned the store directly, spoke with Brisa, who stated she is the general manager there. She was rude, and rushed and hastily explained that I need to call DoorDash. After i TRIED to explain to her that i ordered directly online and i could not contact a DoorDash driver for status or location, she then tried to give me an 800 number to CALL the Company. Again, i tried to explain that i need to contact the driver for location and ETA. Finally she explained that unless you order using their Catering button online, they outsource to DoorDash yet are unable to give the customer the contact of the DoorDash driver to contact for location and/or ETA. Nowhere on their website is this disclosed. So essentially, the customer is basically just dumped on if you never get your food. If you order using their Catering button, they use their own staff to deliver so you can go back to them for status if your order is late. FINALLY, after trying to get a word in over her huffing and puffing, she canceled my order so at least my card was credited back the $130. I like Panera Bread... but today was not a good day. I will order from them again but Brisa could use a meeting or two on customer service. She was defensive saying she was busy because it was the lunch hour - well yes. That's why i ordered to have food delivered an hour PRIOR to the lunch hour... which we never got but a doordash driver was certainly eating pretty well somewhere. And if you're a doordash driver... guess what?! If food was ordered through Panera and not doordash by the customer, you get a free lunch since the customer can't track you! Thumbs down on Brisa for the way my call was handled. As a general manager, your job is to handle the inquiry before you, not deflect and say the food was picked up and it's no longer your problem because it was handed off to a doordash driver who you won't let the customer track. read more

I've come to this Panera as well as other Panera locations with friends and co workers. I like the ' you pick two ' choice. 1/2 sandwich, salad . Your choice of each. You also get a choice of fresh fruit, bread or chips( their brand). You pay at the counter, and they give you a device that beeps and lights up when your order is ready. If you have a Panera card( free) ; this keeps track of your purchases and eventually, you get $2 off a purchase, a free pastry or a free drink. I got a Chinese chicken salad and 1/2 a turkey BLT. It's Panera folks. Nothing to see here, move along. But really - it's standard Panera fare, opens early in the morning, and has basic food. This location is larger than most and kid-friendly. There are plenty of areas to tuck a stroller and the largest stall in the women's bathroom has a changing table. The food is prepared consistently and expediently. Staff keeps this location pretty clean, save for the random fruit flies that buzz around the cookie display. Ehh, they're harmless. For reasons beyond my knowledge, they're always giving me a free daily bagel for an entire month every few months. Way to throw my new year diet. Not sure what's going on because I order the Mediterranean bowl all the time and this has never been an issue before. Now for the second time in the last month or so the rice is crusty and undercooked. I thought the first time was a fluke. When I brought it to the attention of the manager she basically called me a liar...said the rice is precooked so she doesn't know how that could be. Not sure either, but it is.
