spinach lasagna
Roblee V.

I wasn't expecting much from this place but my spinach lasagna was actually not bad. I ate the whole thing, even scooped up the sauce to finish it off. I was completely stuffed and I was glad that I didn't get a salad or bread to go with it. I had to wait 3 mins for my lasagna to be ready, which I'm pretty sure was the amount of time they needed to warm up a frozen lasagna. It didn't taste like tv dinner lasagna, but it also didn't taste or look like freshly made lasagna. I've eaten a lot of homemade lasagna from different people (including myself), so I could taste the difference. I would order it again if I were to ever go back and was craving Italian food, but minus a star for taste. I docked another star because the pizza they had out looked old, like it was sitting out there all day (I came in the evening).

I had the combo slice with caeser salad and a fruit punch. Good pizza, much better compared to Costco pizza.

San Pedro Square Market - Carne asada tacos

I absolutely love San Pedro Square Marketplace. The energy, the layout, the food options…read more.. Everything is great. It works incredibly well for groups and gatherings because people can wander and grab whatever food sounds good to them and then regroup outside to talk and enjoy the atmosphere and each other's company. There's an impressive variety of vendors. I was hoping to grab a tea at Urban Ritual on my last visit but I was sad to see that they are no longer here. They will be missed but there are still lots of choices so that nobody feels like their options are limited. The outdoor space is great with plenty of seating and it's kept clean. There are sunny spots and shady spots and busier areas great for people watching and calmer areas tucked away for quiet contemplation. It's like a community gathering space and a food hall all-in-one. It's also really dog friendly, outside anyway. I always have my dog with me and it takes the stress away to go somewhere where I know she will be welcome and comfortable. If you need to run inside to order food or use the restroom you can have someone watch your pup but there are also some restrooms outside too if you needed to bring your fur baby with you. Great food options, great atmosphere and one of the better communal spaces I've come across. I definitely recommend I stop here.

Parking is $10 in a nearby garage (a popular parking place for an event at SAP center). This market was huge and had so many restaurants. Anything from desserts to drinks and all types of food. Because we were there before a game and it was a Saturday, there were so many people there. One area seemed to be more popular than the other building (where there was a bar). There was also an outdoor area with a live band playing. Food here isn't the best you can find in the city, it just does the job in a pinch. It's a popular place to hang out as well especially for families. Pros: parking is affordable and there's plenty of options for food and drinks. I like the variety there is available. There's something for everyone. Cons: there was plenty of seating but because the sheer amount of people, seating was hard to find.

We grabbed the classic rice plates numbers 13 and 18 on the menu. Honestly, this place is exactly what you want from a food court spot. It hits the spot when you're walking around the mall and craving a rice plate. The service is quick, the price is decent, and the food does what it's supposed to do. Nothing fancy or groundbreaking here, but that's not the point. It's a classic for a reason. It's reliable, affordable, and satisfying when you need a quick meal. The portions are fair for what you're paying. If you're at Grand Century Mall and want some solid Vietnamese comfort food without overthinking it, Com Tam Sai Gon has you covered. Simple as that.

The food court offers a small selection of eateries to chose from. Here you will find snacks, whole entrees, and even dessert. All of the typical Vietnamese dishes can be found here: goi cuon (spring rolls), banh xeo (savory sizzling crepe), pho, bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup), com tam (rice plates), bun mam (fermented fish noodle soup), banh beo (steamed rice cakes), & fresh squeezed juice. And that's just naming a few of the offerings. Staff stays on top of the cleaning here and will routinely wipe down tables and clean after those who don't bother to do it for themselves. The smell of cleaning products are unavoidable but that personally doesn't bother me. 4 stars for the concept and the execution of the dining setting.

The layout doesn't quite work when it's busy on weekends -- lines at the individual vendors block passage to seats. The bathrooms are crowded. It gets loud inside so sit outside if you can on a warm night. There's a happy hour at Murdoch's weekdays from 4-6.

Personally, I love Blue Door, which is a more affordable version of Ettan and serves delicious Indian street food. It's still on the pricier side, but the flavors are absolutely worth it. The drinks are great (also a bit pricey), and on Tuesday nights they host trivia -- which makes the whole place feel even more lively and energetic. I ordered a lychee martini, which was delicious, along with paneer tikka, naan, and daal makhani from Blue Door. We also shared the sesame leaf chaat (my favorite!) and a margarita pizza. The pizza was okay -- not my favorite, as the crust was a bit too crunchy for my liking. Overall, though, such a fun and vibrant spot!

We came here for a quick bite before a movie on Thursday. There're quite a few food and beverage vendors inside: Japanese curry, hand rolls, salads/juices, Vietnamese, Mexican, Cuban, and Indian food, plus a bar towards the back. The pizza place was permanently closed, though. Inside the market, there were a long table at the front, a couple of tables on the sides, and a spacious seating area at the back. They also had back patio seating. Complementary water and cups were on the left side before you got to Fountainhead Bar. The restrooms were for customers only, and you needed to get a code from one of the vendors. They're very clean. It's a pretty good concept to have various eateries in a single location. It's just sad that they didn't have enough business to generate a lively vibe.

I will always curse them for taking away Iscu Tea since it was actually unique and delicious, but that's the general cringe and expensiveness of being in the Bay Area. Although some of the eateries have the option to order online and pick up later, due to the crowds when there's an event, just tack on an extra 30 minutes since I've had really bad instances of this happening. There's some seating in the back, inside, counter seating, and outdoor seating, but again, can get quite fisted if there's an event. Food options are a bit limited, though of all the years I've gone to Fanime, there's been some form of sushi, Cuban food, and pizza. From what I recall, everything else just rotates around. It does what it does, but beggars can't be choosers if you cannot leave the con's vicinity and have no car.
