Lion Plaza is a spacious plaza with a lot of Asian businesses; mostly asian. My friends and I used to eat lunch in this plaza quite frequently as it was convenient and nearby. The mainstays businesses were Pho Hoa, Tung Kee Noodle, Van's Bakery, Lion Market, etc. Still a lot of family businesses in the plaza. Parking is challenging during peak lunch hours. The food court is completely changed from mostly dessert and che places to more eateries and drinks. read more

Never imagined a food court in this plaza area and it was perfect to get a bite as there's plenty of variety. No frills kind of food court and oddly very cold inside. Some of the places close after lunch time so it's key to get there early. read more

Every now and then I would stop by Lion Plaza to grab a bite to eat at one of the hidden gems. But oh my goodness, Lion Plaza has been neglected so much for the past few years. It's not as lively as it used to be and the food court has several vacant spots now. The bathrooms are very neglected and it always smells like someone was smoking in there. Don't get me wrong, there are some great spots at Lion Plaza including my favorite, Van's bakery, Bo Ne Phu Yen, Pho Hoa with Jazen Tea, TK Noodle, Nha Trang and Anh Hong. Hopefully more new retailers and food and drink spots open up at Lion Plaza and revitalize it. Of course Vietnam Town has been getting a lot of love lately and Lion Plaza is just sitting in the background. But I hope things will change in the next few years. read more

First time here, we were craving some Vietnamese food. There is a lot of shopping area where you can buy a lot of things. They sell from plants, grocery, clothing and many more. We went here for some Vietnamese food, a lot of choices and they have decent of seating area. Its like a cafeteria style. If visited of this location of any items purchased which had priorly been of a colorful traditional dress of self "paid" purchase for reasons of showing respect and for keepsake of something pretty for myself.Other then that if ordering food I do know how to speak in the language to place an order, but primarily I am communicative in English only to those customer service representatives at this plaza location or to any other near by customers in the area if any interactions. Last time visited of this location in 2019 have not returned back this location since. Food court area has lots to choose from a variety of different flavors and selections and tables for seating arrangement areas, and other bakery snacking needs. Sugar cane drink is my favorite which satisfy and fills my hydration thirst every time. They have everything under the sun here for you to cook Asian cuisine. However, a few things turn me off this supermarket. 1.) The phone customer service is terrible. I called to ask for raw peanuts and the lady answered and said a quick "yes, we have" and hung up abruptly. So rude! 2.) the parking lot is extremely dangerous for pedestrians and prone to accidents due to reckless drivers. We witnessed people almost getting run over or backed into. There are many careless, distracted and in a rush drivers here. 3.) the smell is quite strong upon entering the supermarket of fish and herbs. For those sensitive like me, it can be nauseating. SUMMARY This is for the food court inside the Lion Plaza. Visited about 6 mos ago, maybe it was all the COVID but this place is a sorry shadow of what I remember it being. FOOD 2.5* There's a bunch of stalls in here maybe 10, serving different Viet fare, egg noodles, pho, com tam, even hard to find bo-ne. We tried a few stalls and the food was decent. Nothing to get excited about, but all decent. SERVICE n/a You walk up, order and take a number. VALUE 2* Pandemic pricing. I paid like $20 for some pho (all in) and it wasn't worth it. If it tasted real good or was good quality I wouldn't mind, but nah. Overpriced food court. LOCATION 1.5* Surprisingly crowded for being overpriced and not very good. Maybe bc there are only a few small tables inside. The place is run down, looks and feels dirty, just not a good experience. Seriously felt no different than a hawker stall center in SE Asia. Except it's in the wealthiest metro in the US with worse food and higher prices, go figure. Sad bc I used to like this place as a kid, but things change. Reason for my visit was to pick up a fragrant-asian magnolia plant and was told this gentleman sells a variety of plants like orchids (various colors and man-made fluorescent colored ones), thai pepper plants, plumeria, etc on the weekend. Score! I found the gentleman and he wrapped the pot in plastic and put into my car. Yay! Highlights of this plaza are: * Viet food court - Thien Huong Bahn Cuon Trang Hoi is my favorite with their rice plates and egg rolls * pandan waffle from Euro Delight bakery - coconut-y flavored waffle. still good when cold * Van's Bakery - french macaron ice cream sandwich * Jazen Tea - jelly, boba tea place * Lion Market - to shop for asian ingredients or frozen prepared foods Otherwise, this place has a lot of jewelry, ethnic clothes stores, some bakeries that don't really interest me...and random older, asian men standing around smoking or 'digging for gold' as if no one was watching...Gross! read more

This pLaced USED to be the spot to hang out and grab some of the most authentic Vietnamese goodies back when I was young. Parking was horrendous and the shopping center was aLways super packed with famiLies. Fast forward to today: this pLace has gone on a downward spiraL. Adorable but yet old school Vietnamese center. My first time visiting over the weekend. My friend introduced me to an awesome food court center within the plaza. They carry most authentic Vietnamese desserts, drinks, and of course, foods! Restaurants in Sacramento do not carry most of these authentic dishes like this place. For some reason I decided to trek over here after my visit at the temple at Chua An Lac. I was listening to some Vietnamese music, something I rarely do however, the recollection of my childhood continued to follow me. I was thrilled to see the place after so many years. Ok, I lied. I was here over a year ago to dine at Nha Trang but it seriously has been over 10 years since I have been in this plaza. My parents used to use this place as a form of punishment. I don't know why my sister and I hated this place. I hated it w/ all my guts. Every time I got grounded, sure enough my parents took me here to top the punishment off. Ugh. I wish it was 15 years ago. So much have changed. I have endured so much. Though I am over it but it would be nice to go through life w/o looking back at the past. I am thankful for so many things and blessed w/ so many things (roof over my head, a job, etc.) but I forgot the feeling of waking up and feeling pretty. For those that personally know me.. I mean my scars. Moving forward. I have my dreams and future to look forward to. Once I am settled down in Los Angeles, I think that is when I will wake up feeling pretty everyday. Lion plaza in general is really dirty and wouldn't want to come here just to "hang out." When I was younger, this place used to be filled with people! Tons of children running around with other kids, playing on the mini merry go round they have there. The adults would be watching their kids from a distance or just go shopping. Today, it's empty, a bunch of old men just gambling, and a few people in the food court. If I could give this place some stars, it would be the banh xeo they have inside the food court... IT'S. AMAZING.... The banh xeo is super huge! And really really yummy! So if you wonder what's there to do in lion plaza, I'd tell you to eat the banh xeo in the food court. I love this plaza. Before Viet-town opened on Story, this was the "unofficial" Viet-town. They have a food court here that sells che (Vietnamese pudding desserts), banh cuon, Pho Pasteur (a pho chain), and much more. The center of this plaza is Lions super market. There are ao dai shops, music stores, bakeries, salons, boba, jewelry shops, and tons of food options. Parking can get crowded but there is always a spot. You'll find it to be busy around tet when they have lion dancers. There are always men in the parking lot or by the cd-store playing games or gambling. I like that the architecture of this place resembles a pagoda. It looks a lot more Chinese than the architecture of the Viet-town plaza on story. read more

This plaza is okay. I use to go here a lot when I was little with my dad and grandma. I remember going here and looking This plaza use to be clean and they didn't have homeless around asking for money. I only go here for Jazen Tea. Love to get their Strawberry Frenzy or Mango Berry. I came here once after attending a church youth meeting accompanied by locals who are familiar with this place. I stood out as I was the only white person amongst everyone else who is of Vietnamese descent, good thing I had people that knew how to speak Vietnamese because the shop's English skills may be difficult to understand. We went to look at the plants for sale and went into the food court for lunch where I got noodles. I'm unable to pronounce what exact dish I got but all I know is that it was very good. When we went to this place, I parked our car correctly. We went here to into the food court to try bun bo hue outside of bun bo hue an nam. It was okay or lower than the average, you can eat it. Then after we ate, we went exploring into the stores they have there for an hour or so. When I returned back, my car had a medium size dent on the back. :( It was noticeable from about 20 feet. I went here a lot when I was younger, and till this day I go fairly often. I've noticed over time how much they kind of let this place go. It's gotten filthier and the buildings have gotten worn out, but that's just time changing it. Time doesn't really change how good the food is in each store is.
