Pizza was really good, service was great. Nice pizza parlor, not much for entertainment, however good for grabbing some pizzas to go.

Pizza was raw pretty disappointing I asked if it could get cooked a little longer and they insisted it was cooked and wouldn't cook it longer or wouldn't replace it. Guess they don't believe in making customer happy. read more

Holy fuck! These are the best wings I've ever had! The crisp is the hear you can get in them and the flavors are amazing. I remember straw hat pizza being really good back in the 80's. Had to try it out, I gotta say I'm pretty disappointed it was a little over $20 for a medium cheese and for it to be subpar. There's frozen pizzas that tastes better than the medium cheese pizza I got. If you're craving for pizza and there's no other pizza joints around and you don't feel like heating up frozen pizza, go for it. read more

Pizza review: Wow, this pizza is awful!! Barely any toppings and is very bland. I remember Straw Hat Pizza being right up there with Round Table. Boy, are those days gone! Should have stuck to the Hot Pocket in my freezer. Lesson learned. read more

A wobbly 2 stars.... Staff are very welcoming and nice as there were no one in the store around 12-1pm today. However, the food itself tasted like... CRAP. I'm very lucky to have gotten it for free as it is almost my birthday. But would I come back and get it even if it was free?? I don't think I would.. Hurts me to say that I threw it away before finishing 20% of the small individual pizza with one topping.. read more

I can't seem to get this place to understand they are making their hot hat ham and cheese wrong. It does not and never has had marinara sauce on it. Even the menu says it doesn't. The person who answers the phone was totally useless and customer service never responds. I would have returned it both times but it was door dash (absolutely no fault on them) read more

Straw Hat's the Works Pizza: 2/5 I mean this pizza is better than Little Cesars Pizza. However, I'm comparing a $5 14- inch pizza to a $28 14-inch pizza. I wouldn't want to get this large or a small pizza for that amount of money. The taste is pretty bland even with the pepper and cheese. I find it a waste of money to get this UNLESS you have some good deal with it. Today they had a Large TUESDAY ONLY SPECIAL for 50% off, so I only get to pay $14 for their large 14-inch pizza. Other than that, I wouldn't come here again. read more

Straw Hat Pizza - Straw Hat's the Works Pizza - Pizza Near Me - San Jose, California

Accidentally ordered from this location instead of our closer one. Big mistake. Some of the worst pizza we've ever had. Flatbread instead of a real pizza crust. Tiny burned crumbles of meat and super sparse toppings in general. Showed up in the flimsiest pizza box I've ever seen. There was no hope of it staying warm in that thing. 2 personal size pizzas for $30 and it was like eating frozen microwave pizza. read more

I wanted a Friday pizza to enjoy. I used to order straw hat pizza in the past it was good. Today the pizza taste like flat bread no real flavors with a skimpy amount of toppings and cheese. I might as well purchased a pizza from little Caesar's. These people to take cooking classes before they come to this country and sell us a skimpy ass expensive piece of flat bread with hardly any toppings! The Americans love cheese and big ass toppings not the shit on the bottom of the barrels bullshit! read more

I ordered online using Yelp Eat 24 and ordered two large pizzas (15 inches) with one being the Classic Veggie Pan Pizza ($20.99) and the other was Straw Hat's "The Works" Pan Pizza ($20.99). The estimated pick up was about 30 minutes so I waited until it was five minutes before my pick up to drive over. Parking was not a problem as there was plenty around the Plant. Inside, there were a few people eating and I didn't see anybody at the front. There was only one person in the back working and cooking. I waited a couple of minutes before she came out to ask what I needed. I told her I was there to pick up my order and she told me it would be another five minutes. I waited for another ten minutes and it still wasn't ready so I continued to wait. Apparently, there were two others on break that were just now coming back. I eventually paid for my pizzas and left. I felt that was a lot longer of a wait than it should have been. The Classic Veggie Pan Pizza was just okay but the Straw Hat's "The Works" Pan Pizza was great. I would definitely recommend the Straw Hat's "The Works" Pan Pizza if you want a lot of meat. I wouldn't mind coming back to try other pizzas on the menu. read more

Ordered a few individual pizzas. This is the second time I've been here and it's ALWAYS on my mind. The workers are friendly and courteous, they listen to the order when you make it, and it always comes out exactly as it should. The restaurant is always clean and organized, the menu is clear and easy to use, and the employees will make sure everything is to your liking. Always an experience coming here, and it's always a pleasure. read more

FYI, this place goes by a few different names on food delivery apps including 'Mothership Pizza', 'Brooklyn Calzones', 'Just Wing It' and 'Killer Wings'. Note that these are all the EXACT same rubbish restaurant. They're doing this to dodge their crap reviews and fool unsuspecting new customers in to ordering their rubbish food. Speaking of food, we ordered a few pizzas from 'Mothership' recently and it was terrible. Do not go by the pictures they post on these apps...they're all sourced/stock images. I am out here in SJ on vacation and wanted Straw Hat pizza like I used to get back in the 70's and 80's. I ordered a large combination for pickup. When I arrived my pizza was fresh and hot and smelled delicious. The owner Suleman was very nice and gracious. He made me feel like I had known him for years and is very good with customers. I would recommend this Straw Hat location to everyone. I plan on going back soon to get a hot ham and cheese Hothat sandwich before I leave SJ. Bill F. read more

Ordered from DoorDash without checking Yelp first... my mistake. This was the only place open around 8:45pm on a Friday night that had what my boyfriend was craving, and Italian sub. And after waiting almost an hour for it, the "Italian sub" was just truly pathetic and hilarious. You know the diced toppings and meat you usually get on a pizza? Imagine that--tiny, diced meat an toppings--very stingily sprinkled inside of a sub roll. Please see the attached photo for details. We has also asked for mustard and pickles on the sandwich and they were not added. All that disappointment for $9.49. I got a chicken bacon ranch hot hat (essentially a calzone) which, in contrast, was stuffed with toppings... but mostly onions. Onion lovers only, onion haters need not apply. If you would not want to bite into a calzone and taste primarily red onions, this is not the menu item for you. The photo on DoorDash showed the hot hats with potato wedges; they came with a bag of Lays potato chips, and this item was $9.49 as well. Essentially... it's unlikely that I will be eating from here again. read more

What's a game night without beer and pizza? My friends had the beer covered, so all we needed was the pizza. Straw Hat was on my friend's list of positives, so he called and got put on hold by the girl who answered, and waited. And waited. Meanwhile, I commented that I've never actually said "No" when the callee asks if I can hold. Common courtesy and all. But by this point, Friend #1 had been on hold for over 10 minutes, and he commented that he's never seen this place busy. Something was definitely wrong. THE BAD: ----------------- So while Friend #1 was still waiting, Friend #2 called, the same girl asked her if she could hold, and she replied "No"! Friend #2 then got hung up on! Friend #3's turn to call. She also stated firmly that she would not hold, and the Straw Hat girl, probably annoyed at this point, actually took her order! 30 seconds to place the order, and done. That's all we were asking for, Straw Hat. Rude customer service = Strike One. Unfortunately, despite my buddy's place being only 4 miles from Straw Hat, his zip code was not one that Straw Hat delivers to. Dumb delivery policy = Strike Two. I went with my buddy to pick up the pizzas (and sure enough, the place wasn't busy). He had a coupon for 2 large pizzas and a medium pizza (all one topping each, except Hawaiian which is technically two toppings), which came out to $42 after tax. Not a terribly great deal, and the pizzas themselves were average-tasting and just lukewarm by the time we brought them home. Overpriced, mediocre pizza = Strike Three. THE GOOD: ----------------- So why am I giving this place get an A-OK rating? First, the person who rang us up was an older guy who was pretty friendly. I asked for a bunch of parmesan and red pepper packets, and he cheerfully gave me more than I asked for. Second, their restaurant is clean and has snazzy LCD menus, and there's even a small arcade with a few games and a mechanical pony ride. Great for kids. There are widescreen TV's here so you can watch whatever sports games are currently on. Third, beer on tap! They've got the beer and pizza thing down. Finally, they have a $6 lunch pizza buffet with salad! $6 was each person's share of the pizzas tonight, and I was still hungry afterward! But for the same price for lunch, I can have all the pizza I want (with possibly more than one topping on each pizza). I could be down for that, if I don't set my expectations too high. read more

The World According to Noelle Allergic Girl's Guide to Life After shopping at Target this morning I decided to go to Straw Hat Pizza. To my surprise it was the Grand Opening Day. I wanted to order one personal pepperoni pizza and one small cheese pizza. The cheese pizza would be for my hubby's lunch for Friday (we're going meatless on all the Fridays of Lent). Upon ordering the person at the counter said they were not taking any pizza orders- just serving personal pan pizzas, one free per person. They were accomodating enough to make me a fresh pan pizza but were not able to make my small pizza. While the restaurant was clean, staff friendly the pizza tasted horrible. Don't get me wrong- ingredients were fresh but it tasted like cafeteria style pizza. The cheese was salty, the pepperoni greasy and the crust was airy but not in a good way. I love pizza and with the many pizza options locally I can honsetly say I won't be back. Noelle's Notes Paxti's and Escape from NY are still my favorite pizza joints short of eating at Lou Malnati's in Chicago. read more

Service and food was great!! Thank you so much sunny for accommodating my huge party.!! Originally was supposed to be 10 kids, but it turned out to be 26 people over all. Great communication from start to end. It was perfect! My daughter had a blast with all her friends. Sunny held the cake for me and had the pizzas ready on the table as we all walked in. Pizza and wings were so tasty. I had no left over food. Kids all had 2nds and 3rds, they loved the food. Honestly I couldn't of asked for more. Services was above and beyond. They even had the football game on for the dads in the background. Highly recommend!! read more

They have their Lunch Buffet from 11am-2pm for $5.99 + tax. This includes the salad bar and their pizzas. The pizzas they have are relatively small but I like the vegetarian pizza, which I almost always ask if they'll make one and they do. The only other varieties I really care for are cheese and pepperoni. Salad bar is okay, but could use some better food. On the other hand, they do have plenty of seating throughout their restaurant. read more

Straw Hat pizza is close to Boiling Crab. Its great how there are so many good eateries in the Plant plaza. I decided to come here for dinner. We ordered the special 2 Medium pizza with 2 toppings for $20. We got pepperoni and pineapple, and the second pizza had ham and olives. We had to wait about 30 minutes for our pizzas. There was a decent amount of toppings, which was great. The crust was crispy on the bottom and it was a tasted a bit denser compared to other places. The tomato sauce was ok. Bad. Ordered from grub hub. Arrive 30 minutes late. Cold. If you like cardboard with no sauce, tasteless cheese, and meat that has taste like vegetarian meat. Actually I have had better veg meat. This pizza is for you. I have never paid $30 and thrown out 90% of a pizza. It was that useless. I have had bad pizzas before but this is the gold medal winner for bad pizzas. Stay away Revised Owner called and messaged me after review above. Explained the difficulties that happened that night. Offered to replace pizza with pizza of my choice. Decided to have at lunch and share with my co-workers. Consensus. Good pizza. Changed my stars because I appreciate professionalism which the owner showed and the new pizza was good and not reflective of the first pizza. Sad to know this is what the San Jose franchise considers great standards. While the staff (franchise owners) were friendly their child was running around and even in the kitchen, unmasked and ungloved. Spent $60 on 2 large pizzas that were not in any way up to par, I had to double check to be sure it wasn't a medium. Missing toppings, dough was "dead" as in not prepared correctly from freezer. Toppings were very light and unevenly placed and when told it would be ready in 20 min it took almost an hour. This straw hat cuts corners in every aspect. read more
