I placed my order for a Shrimp Salad Sandwich., French onion soup, Caesar salad. They did not have what I ordered, they didn't have the right bread, so substituted a smaller roll. Then they didn't have the shrimp salad I ordered and gave me 5 little pieces of shrimp with a little avocado and piece of lettuce, no mayo, seasoning or anything as an option. Bowl of French Onion soup had no cheese or croutons and was only three quarters full. Caesar Salad was nothing but stocks and very little actual lettuce, Croutons are hard a rock and they didn't give me any dressing. This cost me $18.90, but I did get three pieces of bread. Worst Panera Bread location I have ever experienced. They cannot enter orders correctly. My wife and I ordered 1/2 soup and 1/2 sandwich and the charge was over $40.00. Food taste and quality from this location is on par with any Panera, which I won't include in the review. Typically I order pick up from this location. The customer service is consistently lacking at this location. I order here regularly and have had multiple interactions with most of the staff and manager...and it comes across that there simply there for a paycheck and that their customers are a slight annoyance...like a healing mosquito that you know will be gone shortly so you just push through. Had another experience where i gave a very minor suggestion that other Panera locations do that's more convenient for the customer and saves money for Panera...what stood out was the staff interaction to the idea....one gal was excited and shared it with the others who in return immediately shot it down with negativity...which, I guess, I expected. I don't normally eat at Panera because I can make my own bread and slice my own bagel, but this place is exactly halfway between my and my Lake Norman family house and they really like Panera. First, I really didn't like the layout of this location. It's not open and inviting. I think they have more outdoor seating than they do inside, but when it's 40°F outside, it's not a viable option. But there is a drive-thru and I guess that's a draw. The young ladies taking orders were very nice and smiley, but it was painfully obvious they were inexperienced teenagers and didn't really know what they were doing. They have me recommendations about what to order, Wren I asked and I'm glad they did because... Next, I learned something new about Panera food: it's pre-packaged. They open up a package, microwave it and serve it to you. They pre-make the sandwiches and if you're getting a panini, it's put in a warmer. Our food: when we order, we share everything because we're a family and that's what families do. I got the butternut squash ravioli and turkey cranberry flatbread thing. The ravioli was drydrydrydrydrydry. And so was the pittance of a ripped piece of baguette I was given. It wasn't even a whole piece! And it's not like they needed to ration it because I saw no less than 4 big donation bags of bread go out the door while I was eating. My turkey flatbread was okay. I added whole grain mustard to make it taste better. The autumn squash soup was good and I liked the pepitas on top, but it was a little too sweet (and probably squeezed out of a bag and into the bowl). The last thing that pissed me off about this place: they mopped the front entryway before closing and NO CAUTION WET FLOOR SIGN WAS TO BE HAD. I almost busted my ass trying to get outside. When I mentioned there was no sign, one of the teenaged girls simply shrugged her shoulders. I will say this: other than the cold shoulder I got, the customer service was excellent. Within the past two weeks I have been here 5 times and of the time I have been there they have gotten my order wrong 4 times. I live 15 miles away so going back was never an option. I've eaten at Panera Bread for years! I've done business in St.Louis, so I know them as St.Louis Bread Company. And, I used to travel extensively throughout the US. Panera Bread was always a safe bet for quick and decent food. This being said, DO NOT try this location as it is beyond horrible. As I read through some of the other reviews, I do not feel as bad, about my complaints. I have one thumbs up...the manager came out to speak with me, but...I got the impression, from the voices and look on the person who took my order, that it was an inconvenience. I ordered a chocolate pastry. It had two flat lengths of chocolate on one side of the pastry, which were not melted at all. pastry was cold. So sad, as this Panera Bread can ill afford this type of attitude. The restaurant is in a very bad spot, for getting in and out of. You really have to go out of your way to get there. Secondly, I have been having issues with my card...not being accepted, new card...the same thing. I have tried to address this on line...now I will call customer hotline. Today I stopped in on way home for my "free"" coffee along with two purchased desserts. I mentioned the free coffee, but was charged. The cashier told me I didn't have any rewards listed. Wrong. My receipt from last week told me I had one free coffee and one free pastry. Is it the register? My card? The cashier was not going to do anything so I asked to speak to the manager. Manager listened, I was given my free coffee, and encouraged to call the customer help line. The card issue is on-going. My last in the restaurant visit did not turn out well either. Items were missing from our order, substitutes, food not tasty. What is going on here? Are they trying to go out of business? I hope something changes soon. As so many people here have said, this is the most poorly run Panera I have been to. Probably the only poorly run Panera. They are very consistent in filling your order wrong. If they don't have an item, they just omit it, even though you have paid for it. Worst Panera I've been to and it sucks it's the only one in Salisbury. They're constantly messing up orders or putting in the wrong thing you asked for. I've asked so many times for a full baguette or a larger cup for a smoothie and they give me half a baguette or the small or regular size smoothie. They have forgotten to put steak on one half of my girlfriends sandwich before. A steak panini, with literally half of the sandwich missing the main ingredient. The cashier makes food at the same time as working the cash register and it makes zero sense. How are you supposed to be fast food with how inefficient this is with saving time. The cashier has to have gloves on, take them off to make food, and put the back on to work the cash register again. With how expensive this food is for fast food, I'd at least expect the order to be right and it to not take 15 min to get my order, almost every single time. Another pet peeve of mine: how do you run out of bread bowls so fast and often? I have eaten at the Salisbury, NC Panera three times so far and each experience seems to be the same. When you get to the cashiers, they're more concerned with processing through the line than treating the customer as a valued guest. They are non-engaging and very indifferent. The food is decent, but the portions are very small for the cost of the meal. I also tried the ice coffee which was terrible considering the establishment. The ice and lids on the other side of the restaurant from where they keep the coffee, so you make multiple trips as you make your own ice coffee. The manager also guards the hallway like a hockey goalie defending a net. If he's acting as an food expediter, he needs to be on the other side of the counter to free up space in the narrow hallway. If I could give this location zero stars I would. I visited this location today to purchase food. I ordered my food through the drive through. Me and my kids waited in line for 20 mins with one car in front of us. I got to the window and the young lady gave me my food and took my card. I looked at the food and it wasn't correct. I asked the young lady was certain items included she stated they were out of those particular things so I asked why I wasn't informed of the items they were out of because I probably would have ordered something else. I asked for a manger because I wanted a refund and she came to the window and stated that they had all the items that the young lady stated they were out of. She went and got the items and threw them out the window at me. I asked for a cooperate number and this young lady gave me an employee benefits line. I then parked my car in the front and went inside the store. I told her that the number she gave me was an employee number she stated that was the correct number and I asked who was the manager over here and she said it was one. I then asked for a refund again and she refused to give me a refund. Stated if I didn't leave the store she was calling the police. I told her I hadn't done anything wrong and that she could call the police I would wait for them. The whole time I wasn't rude, I didn't get angry until the young lady called the police. When I came inside this manager was trying to by pass me and take other customers orders in a professional manner. Other customers of other races. Even though I had order my food way before my food was wrong and was refused a refund. This is the fourth time this location has messed up my order with rude racist customer service. The police got there and spoke with the manager and she told them something inside the building they can outside and stated I was banned from location. No refund, Not the correct food nothing. I did speak with the district supervisor and she didn't care much. Stated she was trying to work with me to return my money and to return to the location I was banned from for refund knowing I could get in trouble if I am at this location. I am beyond upset. Simple customer service would have went a long way. I have spent lots of money here and here lately the staff does not care for people of color their whole attitudes change wether you go inside or through the drive up window. I do plan on taking them to civil court. I have never felt so embarrassed or racially discriminated against in my whole life over something so small. ...so annoyed with this Panera. They are always super slow (there has been up to a 20-minute wait at times) and usually effing up orders! Or give bad fruit! Today there was corn in my Greek salad! I would say that it doesn't matter if you go inside or to the drive-thru, but if you go inside to order you will find the experience even more annoying since you will see firsthand why things are the way they are: staff socializing with each other instead of paying attention to what they need to be doing! The other day I saw someone complaining that they had left items off of her salad and the staff behind the counter said "please understand, I was back here by myself". In actuality I was standing there the whole time and saw that she was chatting and giggling with a co-worker the whole time as she prepared food which is likely why the order was messed up. When it's a chain restaurant I sometimes tend to return despite a less-than-great-experience due to typically high turnover rate at chain spots (i.e. thinking things will get better). However, this Panera seems to keep turning over to more (or the same) bad staff! read more

Service was very slow. Had plenty of employees, but they were standing around on their phones. My friend and I both asked for no cheese on our sandwiches and were both told "this sandwich doesn't come with cheese", yet when we got our food there was a ton of cheese on the sandwiches. I used to go to Panera all the time in other towns I've lived but not this one. Today, 10/13/19, my wife and I went there for Sunday breakfast (0830-0930). We got our food and sat down. I immediately noticed the employee or possibly homeless person sleeping in the back corner and another on her phone in an empty section. Next, even though there was only two other people in the their, all the trash bins were packed full which told me management isn't checking what their people closing are doing. The floors were somewhat cleaner than usual but that's about it. Chairs weren't even pushed in under the table. After an hour, I think I saw the manager go from the office to the bathroom, totally walked by the area with the homeless person and right by the chairs and tables out of place. Recently visited this fairly new Panera in Salisbury, NC and was quite pleased. It's much like any other Panera you'll visit across the nation, but I was concerned that Salisbury's first and only Panera may not meet the high expectations that I have for the chain since they were so new to the area. Fortunately, my fears were put at ease immediately. I was very impressed with the customer service and the quickness with which my order was fulfilled. Coffee was the usual amazingness and they should give Starbucks, the across the street neighbor, a run for their money and customers. read more

Very poor service. Only person in line and the two ladies behind the counter were having a conversation about their boyfriends. It took one of the women about two/three min to walk over to the counter. When she did; she never said "hi" or anything - she just stood in front of the register. My sister when through the drive through. She ordered a cookie with her meal. It wasn't in the bag. She waited through the line again. (on a busy Friday evening.) Instead of "I am sorry" the employee said, "I put it in the bag." My sister advised it was not in there. She then said "Did you check your kid's bag?" Wow..but it doesn't end there. I called & spoke to the manager about how my sister was treated. He did apologize but offered nothing complimentary to ensure we would return. Also he said he would go over it with the cashier IF that what was what happened. Obviously we are running some kind of free cookie gambit. Not people who pay $20 for a meal that is incorrect, only to get accused and questioned when we bring an honest concern to management. Worst customer service experience in years! Ordered dinner for our family using the app. Went through drive-thru to pick up and was told that I had to come inside. I asked "why". She said. Because it was their "policy". She said if I had ordered by phone, she could have given it to me through the window. She said it was "policy". I was in pajamas and really did not want to go inside. Embarrassingly, I did go in and then called the manager. She was rude and again referred to their "policy"and said that her employee did the right thing. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich to go. The box it came in looked like it had come out of the garbage. It had BBQ sauce, ham, and fuzz in it. Okaaaay.. So we came down for the Cheerwine festival and decided to stop by here and grab a bite to eat. I regret spending $20 here. They got my wife's order wrong and put croutons in her soup. After correcting the soup they didn't even give her a spoon so we had to go back and get that. Then I looked at my dish and they didn't give me my French baguette. I ordered the Italian sandwich and holy crap this thing looked like they just took whatever scraps of food they had left and put it together. It look unappetizing and did not taste right. My wife told me when I got up to get some things that the lady took our receipt. I bet she probably threw it away so I couldn't get a refund for such crappy food. We love Panera but this one in Salisbury has left a pretty bad taste in our mouth. Wish I had taken photos but we just ate our soup and left. Service was good and the experience was good with the exception of the new coffee. Panera Corproate changed about 6-8 weeks ago and the coffee quality has plummeted from good to terrible. It effects every visit for me because one reason I came was for the coffee. That's the reason for the one star... because now I will go from a very frequent to a very infrequent customer. Ordered online. When I got home with order, some items were missing. I called back and spoke with manager. They had closed and I was told that the soup that was missing may already be cold. He checked and said he could get me a bowl. I had to then go back out and drive across town. The manager was not available when I picked up the soup. The food here is not that great, they are over priced and their service is terrible! If you are that hungry and feel the need to order online, make sure you do a complete inventory of your order before you leave, or you will be making a return trip, I can promise you. This is a typical Panera Bread. In my experience, the food is consistent and the staff polite. The location can be busy to navigate at times, but there is plenty of parking available. This is a good addition to Salisbury, but I hope residents will continue to support local eateries, as well. read more
