We have eaten at Panera a long time, including at our previous home in Minnesota. This location struggles to stock even staple breakfast goods. I have driven away from the drive through after being told that none of my first or even second and third choices were out of stock (this at ~9:30 am). Even plain bagels. I understand that guesses must be made about stock, but this has happened so often now that i hesitate to go back. I spoke to an employee about how they communicate to management when people ask for out of stock goods, but that was clearly out of the question read more

Very happy to have a Panera in Maple Valley but this location might be the most poorly executed I have experienced. I have been to this location a few times before reviewing it to allow management and staff time to work through what seemed to be a rough start. Although friendly, the service needs improvement, they need to provide prompt service, keep plenty of bagels available, have tables and floors clean, and give customers their loyalty points. I am worried that this location could close due to poor management and execution. I am rooting for the Maple Valley team to turn it around and provide a great customer experience. It seemed like a great idea to place a rapid pickup order online to be ready by the time I hopped in the car and got there. I was wrong. I grabbed my order from the rapid pickup shelf and headed home to find my order was incomplete. An item I ordered and paid for was not included. I called customer service, told my tale. I was told customer service could not process I had to speak to the franchise directly. I was transferred to the franchise, told my tale again. I was told I needed to come back to the restaurant to either get a replacement item or refund or have a voucher mailed to me. When Panera so easily took my money online, it is unacceptable that they cannot just as quickly and easily return it for their shortcoming. Step up your game Panera. read more

I went here for lunch last week. I had the Pick 2. Half sandwich and cup of soup, which came out to about $11 after tax. I got the Italian sandwich, which was terrible. Really? $11 for half a nasty sandwich and little cup of cheap chicken noodle soup? The soup itself was $4!! Wtf! Won't be coming back here. No wonder I stopped going for the longest time. Placed an online catering order two days ago, for a business luncheon today. The order was confirmed via email, and I even spoke with the manager on Saturday to confirm over the phone. The lunch did not arrive on time. When I phoned to locate the delivery, I was informed that the order sheet was not even printed that morning! This is very unprofessional, especially for a company that supposedly puts pride in their catering. How does something that should be so routine get missed? The food is good. The reason why I give only 3 stars is the drive thru service is TERRIBLE!!! I went through it recently and never again. The wait... it was at least a 20-30 minute wait, every time! Even with one car ahead. So now I will no longer use it. Biggest advice I can give you is to NEVER use the drive thru when you are in a hurry, you'll be stuck for WAY TOO LONG! Unacceptable. It's Panera, which was desperately needed in this area. The service is abysmally slow. It should not take 15 minutes in the drive thru for coffee and a bagel. I went inside for lunch the other day and the customer in front of me was really slow and indecisive and the cashier just watched the line grow out the door. Food is good (as always) but the service needs some fine tuning. It's also a lot cleaner than most Paneras, for some reason the ones in Renton and Southcenter are always filthy so they get a bonus for that. read more

My wife and I love Panera, but whomever is in charge of ordering or quantity preparation here at the Maple Valley location she be demoted to table bussing. On Tuesday they had run out of one of their breads for sandwiches at 12:30 in the afternoon. On Thursday, mid-day they had run out of most of their cookie flavors. Now at 8:30 am Saturday they have no strawberries for their Oatmeal. These are only our frustrations for this week, but similar occurrences happen all the time at this location. The main thing I have always loved about Panera is the quality of food as well as the speed of employee working to ensure you get your food fast. The new location in Maple Valley is having a rough start from what I can see. The first time I walked in there, the girls behind the counter were chatting (it was 6pm on Sunday) and I walked up to counter, still not recognized until I said something. Once I ordered they told me everything I ordered was out for the day and didn't offer any other suggestion or tell me as I was ordering. I ended up walking out and not purchasing dinner from Panera. The next time my husband and I went in around dinner time on a week day. We were again not greeted and felt ignored. This time the food we wanted was available. We ordered our food to go (bread bowls and soup) and it took 13 minutes from the time we paid to the time we got the food per the tracker on the to go area. 13 minutes for soup and bread bowls. Today I went again for a bagel on my way to work. There was 1 other person in the store when I showed up who was already eating and I believe 2 people in the drive through. I asked for a blueberry bagel with cream cheese. For whatever reason this has to go through the back kitchen and I ended up waiting 5-7 minutes for a bagel. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of customer service as well as the speed. While I live extremely close and love Panera food, I doubt I will go back as the 3 times I have gone have not been quality experiences. My husband and I were so excited that it was opening up and there has been nothing but disappointment. I hope Maple Valley Panera can get their stuff together. read more

I received a $5 off coupon if I ordered my meal with my mobile phone, so I thought, why not? It was an easy process and you can set the time you will pick it up. I ordered our dinner for an hour out, finished up our errands, and then stopped in. And our food was waiting for us on the shelf. We decided to eat it at the restaurant, so we found our seat and started eating. The soup was hot, but it seems like the piece of bread you get with the meal is getting smaller and smaller. I rate this a low star based on the staff. Every time I come In Here the same group of 3 kids are just standing talking instead of working. One is a heavier set guy with black glasses, one is a heavy set gal with an orange hat and the other is a slimmer gal with reddish hair. The things that they talk about always seem super inappropriate as well. Killing people, video games, sex, etc. I heard one of them actually say "there are people she would Like to stab"..... They do this for about 20 mins behind the counter and push customers off to other people. This is completely unprofessional. This is the 3rd time I have witnessed this. I went to go get dinner last night and decided to go to Panera bread! It was such a good decision! The Panera workers and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very cute and homey!! Their food is soo good and tastes like comfort food. I had two servers helping me throughout my visit and they were so sweet and helpful! One of their servers Cameron always came to check up on me and she was so kind and made my whole week! The girl that I ordered froms name was Aubrey and she was soo sweet and nice as well! I'm so surprised at all the bad reviews! I've been here three times (through the drive thru) recently and each time was great! The first time they gave me a free pastry for "the long wait" which wasn't long at all, less than 5 minutes! Every time I've been through the service has been excellent and the cashiers really seem to try to get to know you. I've never gotten anything that tastes bad here either. I normally get the chicken frontega sandwich and the brocolli cheddar soup but everything else I've tried has been amazing. Because of my order today they said I could get a pastry for 99 cents so I got a blueberry muffin and didn't expect much as it looked store bought but I tried it and it's definitely not store bought, it tastes AMAZING! You should really consider giving this guy a raise of some sort because it was very very busy but he greeted me with a smile. I believe his name was "mac"??? Stopped for a quick bite on the way back from skiing. 25 minutes after we ordered I went to check on our order (soup and sandwich- two people). The food runner told me wait times were 45 minutes to an hour for food. There were only two people in line ahead of us at that time we ordered, but we still ordered from the kiosk. The order kiosk should have a notification of wait time, or staff should inform people. Never coming to Panera again. read more

This place is good most of the time. A bread bowl left out here or there. But I just spent over $30 dollars for two people to eat. Not only is my order wrong (after telling them twice that all sides were French baguette and somehow getting a bag of chips) but half of my meal is inedible. But as someone who also works in a drive thru and customer service I try to give the benefit of the doubt. Just feels wasteful. But I'll probably be back. read more

I placed a catering order online (boxed lunches for about 25 people). I had to call multiple times to make changes to my order on the very day I was picking it up. Everyone who answered the phone was very friendly and more than willing to help me. Ashley (I think she's the manager) was especially understanding. Been coming here every Saturday morning at 6am for the last year and a half and have watched service get worse each time. Rude cashiers, they act like they are too busy to ring you up and it's a terrible inconvenience that you are there. Today, walked in at 6:02 am, stood there for 5 minutes while two cashiers ignored me counting their registers. A manager walked out, looked at me and went back to the back room. Sorry for trying to order a coffee, if this is the way you treat regular customers then no thanks. Wonder why Starbucks is busy and this place is empty. This particular location has to be my all time favorite, I eat there so much! They have great quality food that tastes and looks like it was freshly picked out of the garden or fresh out of the oven, its bursting with all sorts of amazing flavors, and the service there is amazing as well. Whenever I am on my lunch break at work and I drive over to get something from Panera they are always quick to get it out to me and I never have to wait more than 2 minutes its usually really and at the window right after I order it. I am baffled by the negative reviews on here because I've been a few times since moving into Maple Valley, and I have had nothing but the BEST experience! I typically order salad and soups! My husband gets a variety of the pastries and sandwiches! Each time we come the front is always so friendly, even with their open casing for the pastries I don't see flies! Each time we spend around $40.00 or more! It's been amazing, next when you see how clean everything is, it's comforting! The beverage selection is always full, and the tables and dining is always so clean! We don't ever see anything off with our food and the manager always comes around the tables! I have found the Greek salad, with chicken and sub the Ceaser dressing is my all time favorite! I love the recent addition of the fall decor and I have to admit, this is the best looking Panera in Washington! I am in love with the service and think the drive thru was easy too. It does take sometime but come on, this is a made fresh at order...... it's going to take time! I see people complaining about portions but, I again, was blown away by the sizing! With this being said, thanks for coming to Maple Valley and NEXT, don't be discouraged! All the complaints, are hilarious! I will be back for more amazing food, service and pastries!!!! read more

It was nice to have a Panera bread added to our local community as Kent Station was the next closest one. While the food at this location is good, they are poor at service. I have been here at least a dozen times with friends and family and myself alone. I kid you not every time I go there they either forget something to my order or get the wrong size of soup or get the whole order completely wrong. Mainly through the drive through this happens. I'm not sure if the staff is under trained or what. They do indeed make up for it by giving lots of free things and replacing the order but the inconvenience of always having a messed up order eventually out weights the free food. I think I will go back to the kent location until they have some better training or fix this. read more

She is willing to go the extra mile and discuss food options and also make sure I get the food I want!!!! It's nice to see the younger generation taking their jobs seriously. I love Panera but this location has trouble. The drive thru is much slower (by 15/20 min) than other paneras and they often forget things like dressing, etc. Today I came in at 7 minutes after the end of breakfast and was happily surprised to see three soufles still on display for sale. I told the cashier I wanted to purchase them and she refused to sell them to me. I was shocked and asked her to confirm, "you're refusing to sell those to me?" She said "yes, we turned the hot plate off." I was willing to buy them (they were likely still warm) and microwave them but she refused to sell them. Does Panera let staff have leftovers? I honestly couldn't figure out why she'd refuse a sale. I looked at my husband and we decided not to buy anything but rather to give our money to the Starbucks instead. Honestly, if you're in the area don't bother with this location, for lunch go to Switch'd (they genuinely care about their patrons and they have amazing soups, salads and sandwiches) they're a small business. There are also great small business coffee shops like Vintage Vino and Ristrettos. This place has finally lost my business. read more
