Panera Bread is clean and orderly. The food: I got a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon in it. I also got potato chips on the side. Although not a lot, it was delicious and left my stomach fulfilled! Fantastic! The service: I ordered my food at a kiosk screen thing and waited until they got it for me. It took about 5-10 minutes, probably less. Then we picked our own table to eat at. When we were done, we threw the crumbs away and put the dishes in a place specifically designated for dishes. The staff: I didn't get much contact with the staff, but that's fine. We've been regular customers here for years. This past year or two the quality and preparation of the food has slowly gone downhill. They used to be the one local place that had really great salads for take-out. However, the last three times I have ordered, they have left off at least one salad element or gotten the sandwich wrong. The lettuces are often wilted, and they are increasingly using iceberg along with or in place of greens and romaine. The iceberg smells and taste of chemicals. All that and their prices have increased significantly and portion sizes have shrunk, along with everyone else. Told me to add a note on my order if I wanted to modify even though I just spoke with her at the drive-through. Service is good but who is baking. The soufflés I received were not a puff pastry shell the dough was obviously over worked no layers was like egg in a bread bun. Bagel over worked and was cone shape not even with center hole. Also didn't taste like bagel but bread. Was there about 1 hour after open and had very little baked. Hooray! Today the bathroom scrubbed, the carpets vacuumed, and the tables and chairs wiped down. The only negatives were two items they were low on: they said we got the last chips - why would they ever run out of chips? and no greens. I would suggest the manager check the stock more diligently. While we were in Maple valley for a tournament, my family decided that they wanted to stop and eat at panera. Well my family's meals were fine, I experienced probably the worst sandwich I've ever received from any restaurant anywhere. I had ordered their new Bacon Avocado Melt. Their system said that they were out of Gouda cheese, but the employee assured me that their system was wrong and that it was in stock. Upon receiving my sandwich, I quickly realized how skimpy they went on the ingredients. With Friends having worked in restaurants, I know better than to send something back to be fixed. But it wasn't until I was almost done with my sandwich that my wife realized that there wasn't even any gouda on it. In all, my sandwich consisted of dry bread and about 1/8 inch of ingredients. See my attached pictures. With the selection of restaurants in the area, I would highly recommend skipping Panera and finding something a little more worth your money. The last time I (unfortunately) decided to stop off at Panera in Maple Valley, they had a car parked in the drive thru so you could not order that way. I resentfully ordered inside, only to sit and wait "a very long time" on a bench as I listened to continual horseplay and profanity by all the "young" workers behind the counter. WHY WEREN'T THEY BEING SUPERVISED BY AN ADULT??? Another customer joined me and witnessed the same. I swore I wouldn't be back anytime soon. Well, it's been awhile and so I (unfortunately) AGAIN decided to stop off and get a sandwich/salad "pick 2". I ordered a Greek salad with ingredients clearly missing. It was a very sad display of a Greek salad. The Mediterranean sandwich has got to to be the worst one I've had to date. I, MOST DEFINITELY, will not be eating anything from this location. This location never has soufflé's in stock, even when I try to go multiple hours before breakfast is even over. Disappointing! Had lunch with my mom today and tried the new chicken sandwiches: the Signature Chicken Sandwich and the Spicy Signature Chicken Sandwich. Both were VERY dry, overpriced, and had very little flavor, seemed like some of the toppings were missing, too. The spicy sandwich had a total of 2 (tiny) crispy pickle chips, the regular chicken sandwich was missing the garlic aioli (I had to add mayo to it so it wasn't as dry). I typically don't take pictures of my food so I didn't even think about doing so. 2 stars for the way overpriced sandwiches, it should be 1 star but the place is clean and employees are nice. This is literally the SLOWEST Panera I have EVER been to. I waited for 35 minutes in the drive through and there were only 3 cars in front of me! The last car in front of me waited at the window for almost 15 minutes. Even McDonalds knows to have the car pull through and wait in the lot if it'll be more than a few minutes. My second hellish experience I arrived promptly at my time for "rapid" (ummm okay...) pickup. I waited another 25 minutes past my pick up time. Insane. I will NOT be eating here again. I've been to many Paneras and I usually order the same thing, a pick-two: Caesar salad and roasted turkey avocado BLT. I am usually very impressed with the quality and quantity of the brands derive and food. However this one is seriously lacking quality control. Tonight I ordered my usual expecting the same quality of food but I am so disappointed. The lettuce in my salad is wilted and they maybe gave me 1/3 of the container of lettuce. I looked at it and laughed at how little they gave. Let me know what you think of this is standard. The sandwich was pretty normal so no arguments here. My wife and I enjoy Panera Bread. We've been their customer all over the U.S. during our travels. So, it's unfortunate that the Panera Bread closest to our home is actually the worst I've ever experienced. Ordered breakfast sandwiches to surprise my wife and kids. Sure they were a bit pricier at about $6 after tax for a single breakfast sandwich, but I decided to splurge this morning and picked up 3. The first sign of trouble was seeing their morning staff looking so depressed to be there. I was the only customer and there were no smiles greeting me. Just a ho hum "Can I take your order?" After ordering, I asked for a receipt and the order taker said it would be in the bag. Took my order back to the car and found she'd neglected to give me my receipt. Then came the breakfast sandwiches... they were a huge letdown. The bacon was nearly as flavorless as the eggs. It tasted like we were only eating a plain brioche bun. My family looked as dismal as the Panera Bread staff at the taste of their breakfast, so I let them toss their uneaten portion and we made a quick jaunt over to McDonald's for a better breakfast alternative. What a shame, Panera Bread is supposed to have much better food than a place like McDonald's and the prices should justify that. Avoid this Panera Bread in Maple Valley. It's a poor representation of what Panera Bread should be. read more
