If you have read many of my recent reviews. I am I my Panera era. Never been to this one, so decided to try another new location. I ordered my food as I normally do on the app, went to pick it up and realized I ordered to the Anaheim location I was at the day before. My mistake 100%, but they were so nice. Told me to call the other location to cancel it and replace the order for their location. Did just that and the cancelled it without issue, refunded me and I replaced the order and I was good to go. Thank you very much for taking care of it, even though it was totally my fault, great service. Got my normal order, Ranch Cobb with chicken, sub green goddess dressing, apple, drink and some Asiago bagels for later. Yum! I really like the La Cañada Flintridge area and this location seems newer and is nice inside, clean, lots of seating inside and out, great spot for working lunch or whenever. I highly recommend joining the sip club, well worth it and always look for coupons to save on your purchase. Enjoy!

Panera is Panera food and drinks are ok but it's convenient. The place is clean and comfortable. But I have to say I received excellent service today so thumbs up for that!!

Long hair inside Smokehouse BBQ Chicken

This place gets worse and worse with every time I order. Last time I ordered a smokehouse BBQ chicken there was a long hair inside, see the picture attached. I am done, never going to order anything from here anymore.

Tiny portion of kids mac & cheese - this is before a bite was taken!

We've been to this location of Panera Bread a number of times. The last visit wasn't the best we've experienced there. Felt like they were tired of trying to keep a consistently positive offering, and were giving up. The cashier was very friendly, and tried to be helpful. They usually do have good customer service at the ordering station. Where the let downs came were that many of the food items were already sold out. I'd been snacking at an event at Descanso Gardens, so didn't want anything heavy. Would have been happy with a bowl of soup. Sadly, everything non-dairy was long gone. I ended up ordering a non-dairy smoothie. Not the same thing. We had Sweet Granddaughter with us, who was craving mac & cheese. That was accomplished, but what a shocking small portion for $7.29! It did come with a small sleeve of yogurt, but no beverage. I was shaking my head when I realized what we'd paid and what we got for it. Dear Hubby was hungry, so he ordered Chicken & Pepperoni Mozzarella Melt - Stacked Toasted Baguette on the Pick 2 menu, not realizing that the Melt alone was over $13. Then his second choice soup (they were out of chili) was almost $7 for a cup. He got a "deal" on a bear claw. Still, I didn't have anything other than the smoothie, and an adult meal and a kids meal, plus one pastry ended up being almost $50. Makes one want to only cook at home any more. I realize food prices are up / labor is up. But dang, for $50 it would be nice to feel like the restaurant cared about what they were providing. The carpeted floors needed to be cleaned throughout the place. Some of the tabletops needed attention, as well. The location just felt careworn; in need of a refresh. If we go again, we would be sure we have a coupon or other deal first, because the cost isn't in alignment with the value.

    He loved it lol

GREAT FOOD, AMAZING SERVICE, AND SUPER CLEAN! We drove from Burbank, to Glendale Panera (300 brand ave) and they were sold out of...bread? Panera bread was sold out of bread! So the next step was Panera in La Canada. Ahhh, best decision ever! Food: 5/5 The food was amazing, in all honesty. I've had the worst luck at multiple Panera's, which really sucks because when it's cold there's nothing like a good soup, and when it's hot there's nothing like a fresh salad. My niece and nephew are very picky, and even they liked the food! The bread bowls were delicious, fresh, soft, with crispy edges. Yum. The Mac and everything was just delicious, honestly. Price: 4.5/5 I felt $52.00 for 3 is a bit pricy, but in all honesty that's just what it cost to go out to eat now. The bowls were about 12.00 Ea, drinks, and salad it somehow all was 50+. In my opinion, most if it was worth the price! I wish they had a reward system with the amount you spend/ points lol Service: 5/5 They're so incredibly nice here! Just about every Panera I've been to, has the rudest workers possible. However, this one had such a great team!!! The cooks were so damn nice!!!they asked us several times if we needed anything, I constantly saw one guy cleaning the lemonade station over and over. There's nothing like a clean and happy restaurant! All around: 6/5 I will be back to this location again!

French onion soup in bread bowl delicious

Where else can you get soup in a bread bowl!? Panera does a great job with their French onion soup. I loved it in the bread bowl! I actually had no idea bread bowls were on their menu until now and am pleasantly surprised. Their passion papaya green tea is really good too. I liked mixing it with some of their agave lemonade and you can add water if it's too sweet for you. The only thing I would ask them to improve on is there home style chicken soup. It literally looks like they opened a can of Progresso and dumped it into a bowl! Please use fresh chicken...when I make chicken soup it does not look like that weird pinkish tinge canned soup stuff and yet theirs has that same weird look.

Toasted Italiano with Broccoli Cheddar Soup

you know, the thing about Panera bread is that their food is actually really good and their soups are very underrated, this is especially true If you live in an area that does not have a lot of places that offer a variety of decent soups. the issue with the Panera bread chain is that they are very badly managed and very horrible at executing their customer service and their employees throughout almost all of their locations anyways, at this location specifically I ended up getting the hot Italiano sandwich with a broccoli and cheddar soup and it was pretty good. the issue was that I waited roughly 15 minutes to order my food, even though I was the next person in line. It seemed like there was an abundance of employees, just walking around some of which did not seem to be doing anything, but there was only one person taking orders upfront. that would've been fine too, except he was also multitasking and doing other things mid order (not just cutting the bread). they do offer a self checkout monitor at the front as well, but there was a huge line behind me and the monitor seemed occupied by another guest for just as long. oh, and it's also worthy to mention that if you need somewhere to sit down and study, then this might be a good place (if you don't mind people and some background noise).

Food is good but they need to be more cautious of what goes into their salads. We got a big piece of lettuce core in our Caesar salad.

I LOVE TOFU SOUP!!!…read more got the beef tofu soup and it was deliciousss. one of our group had burnt rice but the staff were quick to replace it. the spicy cucumber here is so good i ate like 2 plates honestly. i will say is that the spice scale isn't super accurate. i am pretty bad with spice so i got a mild and it was just ... alright... i feel like i was missing a lot of the flavor, not just heat level. my friends who got medium and spicy let me try their soups and they were way better and honestly not that much spicier. so i would say give a higher spice level a try if you want more flavor in your broth. we also ordered a bottle of soju to share and some of the spicy chicken. those were good too!

This place is basic, nothing fancy and there's really no ambiance or special feelings associated with it - it's just an old-looking sit-down and serve establishment. The few people sitting to eat were random; I was there to order to-go. After asking what was the patrons favorite dish(es) the lady quickly pointed out the most expensive items on the menu. Of course she did. My eyes rolled but I was polite and decided to order something I recognized and wouldn't hate myself for in the morning. Chicken Teriyaki Can of coke My bill came to $34.23 Ahem! What? Why does a plate of Chicken Teriyaki cost so much? And why $3 for a can of coke? I just cannot wrap my head around it. This isn't a fancy restaurant at all! In fact, it's as basic as it gets with no ambiance or warmth. I cannot recommend this place at all. The food was pretty poor and nowhere near on par with classy eats that try to reach that $$ figure. Montrose is certainly a place where there are people with money and no taste...looking for reasons to spend it willy-nilly. I thought I took a photo of the plate when I got home. Guess not. Avoid if you aren't made of money and prefer well-prepared meals, not quick, mushy fast-foodish stuff.

Taste: 5 Value: 5…read moreService: 5 One of the best Taiwanese meals I've had since coming back from Taipei at the start of the year. The hot and sour soup was thick and chunky, just how I like the soup. The scallion bread sandwich with 5-spice beef was distinct. The bread was perfectly baked and the beef was flavorful and juicy. There was both mustard greens and pickles that gave crunch and acidity to balance the meat and bread. The lotus root salad was refreshing while still having a kick from their in-house chili oil. Dan Dan noodles were also excellent. Fresh cucumbers, chewy noodles, flavorful sauce. Hearty portions with enough for a lunch the next day. Also appreciated the speed of service. We stopped by Joy early evening on Friday since we were craving some Asian food. I really liked…read moretheir interior decoration, it gave felt both modern Chinese and nostalgic at the same time. They also had really authentic and delicious looking cold appetizers like woodear mushrooms and lotus root salad. There was barely a line when we arrived and we were able to order and get a table without much wait. The food all came out at the same time and very quickly. We got their shrimp wontons, Chia Yi chicken rice, and sesame scallion bread stuffed with braised pork belly. I was ready to be transported back to Asia when I saw the dishes but tasting them left me wanting more. The shrimp wontons had very thin silky wrapper which was very tasty, but the shrimp itself was so bland and lacked texture. Most of the shrimp wontons I've loved had a nice bite to it from the baking soda soak but this was just soft dumpling skin on soft shrimp. The shrimp itself could've used more salt and white pepper too, but I suppose dousing it in chili oil helped. The scallion bread filled with pork belly is probably the tastiest dish. The pork belly was well cooked and paired well with the sweet sauce, crunchy peanuts and fresh herbs. The sesame scallion bread however tasted like it has been sitting out on the counter for hours waiting to be stuffed. The bread was cold and the exterior wasn't crispy, there were scallion pieces throughout but you couldn't really taste it. I would recommend trying other dishes before trying the chia yi chicken rice. The shredded chicken was dry and bland, mixed in with mostly soggy pieces of fried shallots. The rice was more flavourful because it was soaked in fragrant oils, but it also left it very mushy and almost congee like. The pickled radishes didn't add much to the dish either. I almost forgot but we also tried their honey lemon black tea and passion fruit black tea. Neither tea had a lot of tea flavor, it was mostly just sweet. The passion fruit syrup was pretty tasty but we both wished there was more black tea. I might be extra critical since I grew up with this type of food, but there are other restaurants in LA that delivers great quality Chinese food. TL;DR: Joy is a well decorated restaurant with good vibes that prioritizes speed of service over freshness and flavour of food.
