Terrible service. This is the 2nd time this week they screw up. I ordered a curbside pickup and have been waiting in my car for 15 minutes before I went in only to find out they were out of one item on the order and did not even process my order. This is only days after I ordered a curbside pick 2 meal and opened the bag when I got to work. The sandwich was missing. When I called to ask about, I was told they'll mail me a voucher. It's Panera. It's a chain. The food is the same at all locations. The Bacon Egg and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich with Extra Bacon on Cinnamon Crunch Bagel is still life changing. Variables: The staff: I really liked the staff on my morning visit. The cashier was super nice, efficient, and reminded me to use My Panera Card. (win) The expediter who handed me my food was pleasant, thanked me as I left, and made me smile. (win) My food was ready super fast. (win) The coffee was freshly brewed and tasted as such. I know people say that Panera is fast food. However based on the variety of food that they serve and the kindness of the employees, it certainly does not feel that way. I always get macaroni and cheese... IN A BREAD BOWL! If you're not worried about carbs, I would highly recommend trying it out! The decor inside is also very nice. Typically I enjoy dining at Panera Bread... Unfortunately this location does not provide ample seating for groups larger than 6. There were fruit flies near the soft drink machines which was a bit disturbing. I ordered the Mediterranean Sandwich and Broccoli cheddar soup... which was wonderful as always. My co-worker on the other hand was disappointed in her Autumn Squash soup. She asked a Panera Employee about the soup but was given a quick simple "its good" response and was not offered a sample to try the soup. Unfortunately she ended up not eating her meal as she was unsatisfied with the soup. The customer service is a bit lacking at this Panera Bread compared to others. read more

I go to this Panera often as I like their menu and the food is pretty good. I always order the tomato mozerella sandwich (I'm a veggie) or the medditeranean veggie. Both are good. My biggest complaint is that there have been several times when they have either been out of the tomato mozzerella or they were out of the bread or something. If it happens once, I can forgive it. But it has happened on several occassions. This is why I'm only giving them 3 stars - there's no excuse for a restaurant to run out of food. To be fair, however, the restaurant is very clean. I usually like Panera in general, but this particular one is rather disappointing. And I have two very specific issues to point out: 1. The men's bathroom smells like urine. It wasn't just on one occasion that it had such a terrible odor, nor were the occasions close in date, but rather there were about two to three weeks between each visit and the bathroom always smells like urine. This is just unacceptable of any food establishment, much less of a Panera Bread. 2. You cannot get a refill on your iced green tea. I don't know if this is a Midwest thing, but in all other Paneras that I have been to they have always given me free refill, be it in Florida or Virginia. read more

Anytime we want Panera for dinner, it seems to be closed. Their website and even this Yelp description says it is open until 8pm each night. We went at 6:30pm today and it was already closed. It's been a while since I ordered rapid pick up from here and that's because they seem to have a hard time understanding what "extra" means. $6 for a half a salad is already expensive for what it is. Every time I request for extra veggies and dressing, I get the same amount as a regular. The box still has plenty of space too. This joint is a place my work BFF Rose and I love to take a break from work and get a scrumptious lunchy! Its a very clean,speedy, and friendly place. We usually get soup and a sandwich and end our lunch by sharing a chocolate Chipper cookie yumm. I really appreciate that they label there soups vegetarian with a v on the menu and they also throw a LF for Low fat I find this very helpful when making my soup decision.On a side note Vegetarians beware when you ask if a soup in vegetarian b/c a lot of uneducated servers think if there arent any chunks of meat in the soup then well of course it vegetarian.So I recommend to then follow up by asking what kind of broth is used then you will get a real answer. As far as sandwiches I really like the veggie but I like to get it without the hummus and sub chipotle mayo instead.The mayo isnt really mayoy its spicy and really addictive. The bbq chopped salad good too its a less expensive version of the CPK bbq chopped salad. Also in tomato season I recommend asking for the tomato mozzarella salad, its not on the menu but they will make it for you its super duper yummy! read more

The food and service were better quality and I was in and out the door for take out in under 12 minutes - not bad for an order for 5 people! This location is totally dysfunctional and is to be avoided. The good: The food wasn't screwed up when I got it and the people are nice. The not good: Totally dysfunctional system. I ordered for take-out inside which is a huge mistake. They gave me the souffle where I ordered and told me to go to the next counter to get the rest of my order. That seemed strange because everything I ordered was pre-made stuff, no sandwiches or anything. So I go over to the other counter and waited well over 5 minutes just for them to hand me another bag (waste of paper with this system!) with the bagel, cream cheese, and fruit cup. Total waste of time and my souffle was cold by then. Next time I'll deal with the terrible parking in downtown Glen Ellyn and go to Einsteins or Blackberry market or something, this place is screwed up. read more

While I typically really enjoy Panera, tonight I am pretty disappointed in this visit, perhaps the management of this store...but not in Panera as a whole. I'd like to point out the pros first...because really Panera is overall a good place. Onviously, the free wifi, clean restaurant ,lots of choices to please almost anyone, and my food was up almost before I was finished paying!!! WOW! Also, I was still sitting at the table after I finished eating, working on a couple things for work and was pleasantly surprised when a kind employee came up and asked me if I was finished and if she could clear my plate for me. The cons regarding this particular visit: the manager took my order, he was young, distracted and not friendly. I felt rushed to place my order so I decided to try the summer corn chowder. Bad choice! Now I'm not saying it will be bad for everyone, but it was too spicy for me. I came here only because my kids have been good and that was the deal. I'd take them anywhere they wanted for lunch... For some reason they love the Panera mac n cheese. To me it's alright but as simple, plain, and straightforward as you'd expect a mac n cheese to be. I mean no toasted bread crumbs on top nor was it made with 4 or 5 exotic blend of cheeses. I wanted a bowl of comforting chili but when ordering, the cashier said we're out of chili / stop selling it. So take down the big freakin chili sign in front of the register will ya? So I got an uninspired steak sandwich and average creamy soup. $34 for the 5 of us and I had to split the soup, sand, and chips with my mother. And no one got any drinks. Just 5 waters. And the place could use some diversity. The place was packed but the only people of color were us and the soul bro cutting the sandwich in the back. We came here for lunch on Saturday afternoon, 6/27 at 1:00. One of us had Panera and the other two of us brought lunch from Cane's and were sitting outside with our dog at a patio space. All the other tables were being unused. An older gentleman employee came up to us and said "I could ask you to leave but next time this is our space." Given that we were the only ones even there, it seemed inappropriate and rude. What is the point of being that way? - it's not like customers were waiting to sit at the tables. There weren't any signs that said no outside food. I like to visit Panera so I can use the free wifi. Before I got the internet set up at my new place I visited here a bunch. The wifi is very reliable, they have good hours, and there are plenty of tables to sit and hang out for a while. Yes, I would consider the prices to be a little high for the food you get, but I feel like it's worth it for the internet. Plus I enjoy the food. The employees here were very friendly and all the tables were clean when I was looking for a place to sit down. I like that they have a good mix of small tables, booths, and large tables for both individuals and groups. The food is good as always. I like that you can always know what to expect at Panera. I placed an order at 8:10 pm for 2 bagels (late I know). I was surprised to see that the cinnamon crunch bagels were still available so I went ahead with it. At 8:22 I received an email that my order was ready to be picked up, so I made my way there. I arrived at 8:30 (the designated pick up time) only to find out that the bagels I ordered were not in stock therefore I had no order ready in the Rapid Pickup. No one called me or contacted me in any sort of way. To add to my frustration, the employees did not offer me any sort of solution. I had to ask if they had anything else to replace with. Then I was offered a flimsy pastry item with a poor apology. I asked to speak to the manager, Brian, to receive excuse after excuse as to why this happened (system was supposed to tell him that they were out of stock?? Not sure how the system would know this??) Plus why did I get the confirmation pick up is ready email if my order was not ready?? Not impressed with the lack of customer service and an actual sincere apology. All I wanted was a "I'm so sorry this happened, it shouldn't have happened. What can I do to make it right?" My family was looking for somewhere quick and healthy and we were very happy with our soups we ordered. They came very fast and the food was extremely fresh. We also were impressed by the extensive iced tea and lemonade selections. Overall, the food was great, except it was a little expensive. I usually receive great service here- but was very disappointed today. I ordered a grilled cheese on ciabatta with avocado- and the same lady I ordered from brought my food. It wasn't on ciabatta so I asked for a new one and was told that they ran out- which I was not told that when I ordered it. I dealt with it and realized as I was about to eat it that there was no avocado either. I brought it back and the same woman was very rude to me and had no social skills. I was very polite about it and she was hesitant to take it back- they brought me back the same sandwich with unsliced chunks of avocado just slid into my sandwich. The only person in drive thru and I hate to wait 20 minutes for a lemon drop cookie and cup of water. Becca the person in drive thru provided horrible slow service. who even hired her??! Her voice on the intercom made us want to drive away, she couldst answer basic questions about bagel flavors available, and then a twenty minute wait for a cookie already packaged??!! I think they actually might be one star but the staff I've dealt with were fairly kind. I have now ordered Rapid Pick Up from here 2 Saturday mornings. The first time my quiches were burnt, not slightly but the entire bottom dark black! For $4+ a piece this is inexcusable. So this time I wrote them a request to make sure they weren't burnt and the quiches were much better however they forgot my oatmeal! I'm glad i checked my bag before I left the store... They have little to no flavor and they offer a very limited selection. *The "sides" they offer are pathetic! The bread is as hard as rocks and the apples could be considered baby clementines. *The MAIN reason we are never returning, is that they have NEVER gotten our order correct in the ten years we have gone there! Just now, we went to get carry out there and we ordered three bread bowls and of course, they gave us only two! In addition, my daughter ordered one order of their Mac and cheese and they gave us two orders of it- I'm assuming it was someone else's order they mixed up with ours. I've always felt as if this particular Panera on Roosevelt had worse customer service than others I've been to, and today my belief was confirmed. My friend and I went to the drive through and each ordered a meal. First, the drive thru employee made a rude remark saying "I did not hear a word you just said" as my friend tried to order. Then not only did they forget to include half of our order after we paid for the whole thing, but when we went back around to receive the rest, not one employee apologized. After we thought our experience was worse enough, we found that our entire order was wrong with the exception of one item. I strongly recommend NOT going to this Panera. read more

I LOVE Panera, but I am super disappointed in their service recently at the Glen Ellyn location. We eat there frequently and in the past month, they have forgotten a side, made us wait longer than promised for curbside pick up and today, gave me an incomplete order at the drive through. I am a forgiving person, everyone makes mistakes, but come on! It took me 15 minutes and 8 tries to finally reach someone at the restaurant to complain. I asked them to deliver the rest of the order because I didn't think I should have to drive all the way back since it was their mistake. I wasn't even offered a comp. Ruined our Holiday. We placed an order 3 weeks in advance for Christmas Eve. Even paid for it at that time. We went into pick it up and they had given it to someone. Of course there were no bagels or rolls left so we are left with nothing. They did give my husband a feee pastry. Hardly enough for leaving us to find replacements at this late hour.
