Mr. Broast - Lombard I had high hopes walking into Mr. Broast, especially since it's halal and known for its comfort food vibe--but after spending close to $40, I left more disappointed than full. We ordered two chicken sandwiches and a mini slider, and honestly, none of it lived up to the price. The mini slider? Dry, shredded, and had that overly processed cheese taste--like a last-minute cafeteria lunch. The sandwiches were slightly better, but still nothing to write home about. For a place that markets freshness and flavor, everything felt like it had been sitting too long or rushed through prep. The dine-in space was semi-clean at best. There were trays of untouched wings sitting out on tables (not being served, just sitting there), which gave off a weird vibe. And the bathroom--no ventilation, lingering smells, dim lighting--definitely not the kind of place that makes you feel confident after eating. The only real plus? The staff was polite and respectful, which I appreciated. But the overall experience just didn't match the price or the hype. For $40, there are much better halal options in the area where you'll get more flavor, better service, and a cleaner setting. If you're craving halal comfort food, you might want to keep this one as a last resort or a very specific craving fix--not a go-to.

I used to be a Mr. Broast fan and have visited their Aurora location numerous times until their quality of food diminished. I was in the area for Chi Tea but they were packed so my wife and I thought we will try Mr Broast since it's been such a long time, hoping that they have improved their food quality. I'm sorry to say that their food quality is still very poor. I ordered a zinger and the chicken piece was huge and tasted like plastic. The same taste I remember from the other location years ago. I ate a few of the fries that came with it and a few bites of the sandwich and had to throw the rest in the trash. I'm glad I did because the lil I ate gave me an upset stomach. Not sure what would have happened if I ate the entire thing. Needless to say I will not be coming back and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The drive thru is sketch. It sounds like a tin can. There's one window, you pay and then pull into a spot to wait for your food. But then you get it. And it's glorious, greasy perfection. Popeyes can suck it.

They only offer 3 kinds of banchan when most korean restaurants fill your table with them. One of my kids really disliked the Korean ramen because the noodles were very obviously from packaged ramen. My other kid who loves bibimbap thought it was really lacking and not at all authentic. I didn't score any points by taking them here. I like the crispiness of the kimchi pancake. Most restaurants have really soggy kimchi or seafood pancakes and theirs was very crispy with nice flavor. Service is really good and the place clean. I didn't dislike it by any means. It's just not authentic at all if that's what you're seeking.

The kalbi is unforgettable, the flavor is similar to the Bulgogi but with a really nice sear on it. The fried rice was airy and light in comparison to Chinese fried rice. They give pickled daikon, Korean potato salad and kimchi as your accompaniments. It's a really nice spot, there's seating for groups, an area for a large family and for parties of 2. Fair warning- high sodium food. Drink lots of water and be prepared to feel a little dehydrated the next day.

It was the perfect opportunity to try a variety of items. Here is what we ordered: Thai iced tea (4) Egg roll, vegetarian (4) Chicken satay (2) Pad see eiw w/beef (2) Crispy Thai noodles w/tofu (2) Green curry with tofu (2) Basil seafood with extra seafood mix (2) Mixed veggie stir-fry with shrimp (2) Mango and sticky rice (4) Overall, we were satisfied with the flavor profiles and everything was delivered in an efficient manner. The portions are not large and I think we would order two more entrees when we revisit with our large group of 14. We have had mango and sticky rice many times in the past. This is our first time having it with a purple-bluish color sticky rice. I don't think it made much difference with the flavors but the kids were turned off by it and refused to try. Then again, kids are sporadic and we can never truly tell what appeals to them. The mango was not ripe but this was back in March when mangos were not in season. Otherwise, we would definitely return and we are eager to try the other items such as crispy catfish curry and pepper squid.

The gentleman serving us seemed to be the only one there, but he was friendly. We ordered a taktouka sampler, mixed grill platter, and lamb shank tagine. If you go to a Moroccan restaurant, you've got to get tagine. It took a little while for the food to come out, but overall it was excellent. The taktouka sampler was full of veggies. It was tasty, but I wish the carrots were cooked more to soften them. The mixed grill platter had chicken and beef kabobs, as well as something like a kefta (ground meat) kabob. The meats and rice were good, although the beef and chicken could have been more tender and juicy. The white sauce was a nice accompaniment. The lamb shank was excellent; nice tender meat, tasty rice, and delicious supplemental flavors from the figs and apricots. Overall, a very nice lunch.
