I go to Apollo Grill almost every week for lunch during work and it's become one of my go to spots in the area. I usually get either the Greek chicken salad or the chicken kabob plate and both have always been consistently good. The food tastes fresh and clean every time and the portions are always solid for the price. What I like most is that it's just a low key relaxed place where you can get a good meal without spending a fortune or dealing with a bunch of hassle. Service has always been friendly and quick and I honestly can't remember ever having a bad experience there. It's not trying to be trendy or overcomplicated. I came to this place to meet up with a friend and had their fish dinner. The fish was battered ok and crispy. The fish was fairly fresh and tender. They didn't add anything interesting to the batter for the fish and the salad was pretty standard. My friend that was here with me had a gyro and said it tasted fairly mediocre. Apollo has been around for a bit now. They have had some ups and downs. But, as a whole, I have been very happy with them. Tucked away in the mini-strip mall area on North Avenue, it is a very unassuming place. Not a lot of signage or flash. But there is plenty of parking! The place inside is nothing to write home about, but, you really don't want to come here for ambiance. I feel this is a more blue collar, get good food for good prices type of place. Kind of like an old school diner, but in 2025. You don't go for the dog and pony show, you go for food. Menu is large. Food is a good, fair price. I usually go with the gyro sammich and some Greek potatoes. I freakin' love those potates. Sometimes I'll stop just to grab some as a side dish at home. Service has always been pleasant and solid. They sometimes get very busy, and they don't have a lot of people working. So wait your turn, and appreciate hard working people trying to make a living providing you food. I am not saying you need to make a special trip here. However, if you are in the area, and need some good food, stop on in. It will be a nice deviation from the usual fast food. Now, ordering was a bit of complicated... So there were two people by the counter, on the side, before jumping to place my order, I have asked if they were waiting to place an order, they were not, they were waiting for their food, the guy at the counter was on the phone, was not paying attention.... As I approached the counter to place the order, apparently, the guy behind the counter announced that someone's order was ready and the person stepped up to pick it up and pay for it, which made it confusing... Finally, after another person piked up their order, I was able to place my order... I ordered half a slab dinner, it came with rice (but fries or baked potato is an option), garlic bread and coleslaw. It didn't take long for it to come out. You could tell the guy behind the counter was not paying attention as he gave me a wrong receipt... I got home and was pleasantly surprised to the size of it. The size of the rice was pretty generous, the coleslaw size was about what I was expecting and the garlic bread was a decent size too. I started with coleslaw and it was your typical, creamy based coleslaw. Rice was next and I was amazed at how flavorful it was, I really liked the rice! The ribs were up next and they were better then most ribs out there, definitely above average, I am one of those weird-o that is looking for this perfect balance of them being firm and falling off the bone, for me it has to be that perfect spot, this one came close! I've been a customer for 15 yrs. After today I'm not going back. I usually spend 40 dollars each time I come. Well the cranky lady cashier told me I used too many napkins. She had the nerve to tell me she was watching me eat and I used too many. Um the cheese fries are messy and sandwich is messy. Then I did a to go order and she said I took too many there too. Maybe I took a few extra to go but seriously. I give tips to her each time too. It's a shame cause food good. She lost a good customer over napkins. Plus I don't like that she is watching you while you eat like you're in jail. So beware if you eat here. Don't get a refill, do not take silverware or extra napkins, or you will be reprimanded. Maybe do not use a straw too. I will tell my other friends who go there all time to stop going too. We all will find another place to eat that lets you use napkins and not spy on you as you eat. Maybe she should wrap the bread up in napkins cause my Dad said sandwich bread was hard last time. Just a tip for the this napkin police. Put them behind the counter then if you don't want them used. On a side note I had spilled a little of my water. So that was another reason I took a few extra napkins while there. I thought it would be rude of me not to clean it up and leave for staff to do. Our 1st time pick-up order at Apollo Grill, we purchased a Chicken Kabob & a Gyros dinner platter. Apollo Grill supplied each meal(??) in a 6-inch diameter by 1.5-inch tall round containers. Food quality was acceptable, but the food portion size was VERY disappointing. Instead of a $13.99 Gryos plate at Apollo Grill, spend $4 more to buy a Gyros plate at Greek Islands. My family and I have been going to Apollo grill since it was Apollo burger and in bensenville so when I tell you that I'm disappointed believe that it bothers me to have to write this review. Went for lunch ordered something that I never order, the golden burger, I have no complaints on the flavor but the burger looked dry. I didn't want to give it any negative thoughts but by 7 pm I was soo sick that I couldn't even stand it, that was on a Wed, today is Monday and I'm still sick. I attempted to call them as a courtesy since we frequent there but they hung up on me when I asked for the owner and when I called back a man claiming to be the manager was rude and basically rushing me off the phone and so here I am disappointed and having to give them this review. Husband and I stopped in for dinner during the week. Elderly man at counter was not friendly. He had to stop watching TV and get out of his chair to take our order and seemed annoyed LOL. Ordered a gyro platter and a reuben sandwich. Reuben was small and did not come on marbled rye. The meat was wet, like it had been pulled right out of a water bath and thrown onto the sandwich. Apollo Grill is a unique looking restaurant off of North Avenue in Lombard. The inside has a fair number of plants hanging and has a large clean dining area. They also have a fairly diverse menu with hamburgers, hot dogs and even a few pasta options. In visiting I decided to try the hot dog. The hot dog I received came on a soft poppy seed bun. It did not appear to have any celery salt or sport peppers on it but the other standard Chicago-style hot dog ingredients were present. The application of mustard, relish and onion were spot on. The pickle used was thin, but a bit on the sour side. Two nice sized slices of thin tomato were on the top of the dog covering it enough to get tomato in every bite. The wiener itself was skinless and slightly thicker than most, I don't think it was a jumbo but it didn't appear to fall into the realm of a stock sized dog. While service was a little on the slow side this was an excellent representation of a Chicago style hot dog and short of sport peppers and celery salt is exactly what you would expect. Fairing well above average Apollo Grill earns a solid four stars. read more

Perch tasted like a giant frozen fish stick! Bathrooms were not sanitary and I couldn't even wash my hands because the soap dispenser was so disgusting! I like the Apollo Grill. My go-to order is the Greek salad with Gyros on top. The dressing is delicious and I feel like I am being healthier by not eating a regular Gyros. (like the logic?) My mom is a fan of the Greek salad with chicken. Over the years I have tried a number of entrees. The chicken dinners are also very good and I highly suggest them. The oven potatoes, sigh....I could live on them. The burgers are decent. I don't suggest the Italian beef. I say stick to other items. The dining room is always clean, the staff is always polite. Apollo just opened up in a little shopping center off of North Ave. My dads company is right down the street and we never have any place to get lunch at in the area.So when Apollo opened up we headed right there to try it out! The food is a mix of mexican and Greek.I know sounds kinda funny but they are great at both! The menu is vast from pasta to burritos, this is the only thing that worried me a bit but from what we tasted it worked. I got the spinach pie, now keep in mind I'm sort of a spanakopita expert.I do try it at almost every greek place I go or in this instance a small fast food place.Well let me tell you it was freakin' amazing!! Super flaky,not greasy, loads of feta, spinach that wasnt bitter. All in all a great span. My fam had burritos and fajita sandwiches, each were enjoyed throughly.The portions are outa control big and on the cheap fo sho. I think my spinach pie was like $4 and it was more then I needed to each for lunch. There was a couple other veggie options too.The veggie sandwich was only$3.75 I havent tried it yet but next time if I can pull myself aways from the spinach I'm gonna hit it up. They showed me a paper take out menu with the higher price, but how do you justify charging it if you haven't updated the huge menu board right at the counter? The wings were not very good. This place is very clean, it's quite nice actually for a casual dining establishment. They're gyros are by far the best I've had in the area (and I've had quite a few). Apollo Grill seems like a typical burgers and gyros joint, but I am always so pleasantly surprised with their food! For the price, you just can't beat it. It is our go-to place when we have family in town that want a quick bite, and they are always very complimentary about their meals as well. I'm actually quite surprised to see that other reviewers have had bad experiences with the food. I've had a variety of items off of the menu, and have to say that I have never once had a complaint with the food. When I've been in and they're slammed with orders, I've had to wait a bit (never more than 10 minutes), but I always get more food than I anticipated and a much higher quality. Food is never greasy, and even the soup and salads are excellent. The restaurant itself is very spacious and always clean. The staff has always been courteous as well. Thumbs up! read more

I haven't done many reviews lately on yelp, but I am going out of my way to recommend this little hidden gem. Me and my g/f ended up going there after her massage, which is in the same strip mall. We were really hungry, so I looked up places to eat, and Apollo was right next door. I ordered the Skirt Steak sandwich. It was delicious! Seasoned well, cooked well...Usually, I need A1 sauce on steak sandwiches because they feel dry, but not for this one. Also, the garlic bread it's served with gives it that extra flavor. But the star of the meal was the gyro my gf ordered. The gyro meat was the BEST gyro meat we have tasted! It was tender, flavorful...just right! I kept picking at it, even though I had already finished my meal! The tzatziki sauce was okay, but the meat more than made up for it. Another good thing was the portions were big! We were beyond full. Also, the fries were really good. I most definitely will be going back to Apollo Grill if I am in the area. If you like prison food, you would love this place ! We had grilled shrimp, and cheese ravioli with chicken. Since all 3 had zero flavor, I imagine they take the shrimps out of the freezer, grill them up, and that's what they serve. Pretty sure the chicken breast had been frozen for a while too before they heated it up, put it over the thawed ravioli, and served with with a topping of some cheap tomato paste.
