    Photo of wrong receipt...

Date: 22-May-2024 Time: Dinner Total (before tip): $15.23 Payment type: cash Server: Take out order Grade: B So I have decided to go there for dinner. It was on my way home and I was always curious about the place. They have a fairly robust menu and good amount of choices, I ended up choosing half slab of ribs dinner. Now, ordering was a bit of complicated... So there were two people by the counter, on the side, before jumping to place my order, I have asked if they were waiting to place an order, they were not, they were waiting for their food, the guy at the counter was on the phone, was not paying attention.... As I approached the counter to place the order, apparently, the guy behind the counter announced that someone's order was ready and the person stepped up to pick it up and pay for it, which made it confusing... Finally, after another person piked up their order, I was able to place my order... I ordered half a slab dinner, it came with rice (but fries or baked potato is an option), garlic bread and coleslaw. It didn't take long for it to come out. You could tell the guy behind the counter was not paying attention as he gave me a wrong receipt... I got home and was pleasantly surprised to the size of it. The size of the rice was pretty generous, the coleslaw size was about what I was expecting and the garlic bread was a decent size too. I started with coleslaw and it was your typical, creamy based coleslaw. Rice was next and I was amazed at how flavorful it was, I really liked the rice! The ribs were up next and they were better then most ribs out there, definitely above average, I am one of those weird-o that is looking for this perfect balance of them being firm and falling off the bone, for me it has to be that perfect spot, this one came close! BBQ sauce was pretty good! As for the garlic bread, it's hard to fuck up! A solid B! Definitely will be back to try something else!

It says they were open... the door was unlocked... but was told they were closed at the counter

Run of the mill gyro/ hot dog joint... decent for a quick bite. Disappointed tonight that I arrived, the lights and open sign on, door was open but when I approached the counter I was told they were closed. Very bizarre.

Apollo Grill is a unique looking restaurant off of North Avenue in Lombard. The inside has a fair number of plants hanging and has a large clean dining area. They also have a fairly diverse menu with hamburgers, hot dogs and even a few pasta options. In visiting I decided to try the hot dog. The hot dog I received came on a soft poppy seed bun. It did not appear to have any celery salt or sport peppers on it but the other standard Chicago-style hot dog ingredients were present. The application of mustard, relish and onion were spot on. The pickle used was thin, but a bit on the sour side. Two nice sized slices of thin tomato were on the top of the dog covering it enough to get tomato in every bite. The wiener itself was skinless and slightly thicker than most, I don't think it was a jumbo but it didn't appear to fall into the realm of a stock sized dog. While service was a little on the slow side this was an excellent representation of a Chicago style hot dog and short of sport peppers and celery salt is exactly what you would expect. Fairing well above average Apollo Grill earns a solid four stars.

You can see the mold and bacteria growing on the inside of the soap dispenser in the bathroom!

Perch tasted like a giant frozen fish stick! Bathrooms were not sanitary and I couldn't even wash my hands because the soap dispenser was so disgusting! They had to have never changed the old soap and just kept adding more soap on top because there was MOLD in the dispenser! I wonder if the kitchen's soap is the same way!? GROSS!

However, since this Lombard location opened, I think at least a decade ago we've definitely been coming here consistently. Even though I don't put a review of every single time I visit. However, my last review of this place was over four years ago, so I thought it was about time to update this. I still give it a solid four stars because this place is key and king on consistency. If there's one thing you can rely on here is that that same recipe from 10 years ago or 30 years ago is still the same good recipe today. And that is absolutely fantastic. I do believe the portions have gotten slightly smaller over the years and obviously prices have gone up, but this is to be expected. The only downfall of this location is that they never take reservations that if you come during peak hours, you better expect to wait even over and up to an hour. Something else that I've seen really evolved at this place is that when they originally first opened, including the Greektown location, all servers, including bus, boys, etc., were all Greek that has definitely changed now over the years The parking lot here is still very generous however during peak times beware it will be hard to find the parking space and there is no valet. Well, consistency is fantastic. I do wish they had expanded the menu to make lokoumades dessert. It's one of my favorites and they still don't offer it.

Molos did not just deliver, it set a new standard for our little group dinners. We started with the Pikilia tasting plate and built our own trio of spreads. The roasted red pepper hummus was the unanimous table favorite, bold and deeply flavorful. The melitzanosalata was earthy and subtly sweet, a quieter but beautiful complement. The tirokafteri was good on its own but genuinely shone when swirled together with the other two. And the pita. That pita. Pillowy and soft with just enough structure to carry a generous pile of spread without collapsing. Outstanding. The fried zucchini with skordalia was fresh and light tasting despite being fried, a real trick. The potatoes needed a touch more salt to fully wake up but were otherwise solid. The saganaki was a table highlight, lit tableside with a proper OPA moment, gooey and beautifully crisped on top. Think mozzarella stick that went to finishing school. Mains were all exceptional. The filet mignon was wonderfully cooked, the EVO lemon sauce bringing a bright refreshing contrast to the richness of the beef. The pork chops were well charred and seasoned with the same confidence. The chicken ala feta was bright, light, and satisfying all at once. Dessert was a sampler of everything on the menu, all some gorgeous variation of creamy whipped filling, phyllo dough, honey, and nuts. Every single one cohesive and complementary. We tried them all and had no notes. We sat outside on a lovely evening, left with leftovers for days, and paid a price that felt almost unreasonably fair for what we got. Excited to go back and try more of their menu!

The atmosphere is still delightful with little sparkle lights along the windows and plenty of outdoor seating. They've added an Instagram wall ("Ouzo made me do it"). They now have a proper roasted Greek potato on the menu, and a vegetarian moussaka which I'm very excited about. Vegetarian items still not labeled; GF are. For mains, and vegetarians can get the spanakopita; a buttered macaroni with cheese; or combine various tasty dips from the appetizer section. There's also salad which I ignore. The online menu has a few appetizers I didn't see (zucchini with skordalia! Oven-baked lima beans!). Warning, at least where I was sitting: the booths can move (not nailed down) - be careful when you get up. I got the chef's special spanakopita/tiropita and the roasted potato; be very specific when ordering as I was served the special "Molos Greek potato" with garlic yogurt and shredded cheese, which was fine but not what I wanted. The spanakopita and tiropita were tasty, with a good ratio between filo and filling, served on a folded cloth napkin (great idea, even perfect filo-wrapped items can be a bit greasy). Service started a little slow, as there was apparently a big party (they do that and they cater now). It was OK though I'm not sure English was my server's first language. I'll be back for the moussaka, which looks great (someone at the next table ordered it) and will be very precise when ordering my roasted Greek potato. Hopefully with a side of giant lima beans in tomato sauce.

I had the opportunity to thank him for years of great eating. Furthermore, I noticed the sign of a great leader: When it got busy, he jumped in and helped his amazing staff. There are a ton more veggie toppings that you can get and about 7 different sauces to choose from. It was so good !! The gyro meat is nothing like I have had in other restaurants selling gyros. This is not the ground up, pressed Into a cone shape and then placed on a spot, this is steak and lamb slices compressed and then put on the spit and shaved off in little tender bits. Now I know gyros can be greasy but these weren't at all !! Husband got a platter that came with two sides. He chose a marinated tomato, green pepper, onion and cucumber salad and some fries. His gygo meat pile came on a bed of rice. This is a huge plate of food !! For these two meals and a soda (fountain and refillable) it was 41.67 with tax. Well worth it as I ate at 5pm and am still stuffed at 9.
