The young lady at the counter seemed to be having a bad day, at least I hope she was, because if she's like that every day, she shouldn't be working there. She had attitude and was short with us. It wasn't anything she said, but rather, the abruptness with her questions and overall demeanor. If we ordered anything on the side, or asked for something different than what usually comes on a sandwich, she huffed and eye rolled us. It didn't make us feel very welcome. We got a number and sat down and waited. When our food arrived, we were short one soda and a side of vinegar and oil. No worries there. I was taken back a little that we were charged 50 cents for water, $2.50 for one slice of Gouda cheese, and 50 cents for an oil and vinegar cup. There is also a 3% charge for using a credit card. The actual food was better before. My combo sandwich was somewhat bland. I remember the hot dog being bigger before. It went from a deli hot dog to a regular sized one. My wife thought the turkey burger was bigger before as well. Overall, I remember it being more flavorful in the past. My potato salad was still very good. The cannoli pieces were outstanding. The place was fairly crowded being Mother's Day, and the service was pretty quick. Turkey burgers take a while to cook. It's always lively but quiet in the restaurant which I like. I hope this was a one time dud experience, and I will be back, unless the cashier has another bad day, and the food is lacking taste.

You kinda gotta plan your visit with timed intent, but catching them open makes the visit feel special because it's SOOOO Good & you're guaranteed to leave feeling like you got more than your moneys worth and making notes on when they are open next again because you'll want to bring a friend to impress. I'm used to split pea soup being thick and smooth with chunks of ham but this had pasta, ham, beans, etc and some items were soft while others were hard and difficult to chew. Again, flavor-wise it's quite good, but the texture wasn't my favorite. The sauerkraut & mushroom eggroll was a unique offering I haven't seen before, but I didn't like the flavor much at all. The potato dumplings were bland and I wouldn't get those again either. Overall, though, I like this place. It was lacking any type of flavor, so I tried to dress it up with salt and pepper, which only helped marginally. I sat down at a table, not more than 15 feet away from where the owner was leaning against the counter. Not once did he check in with me to see if I enjoyed the food. I was still the only customer. I think, even if I really enjoyed the food, which I did not, I would not return to this restaurant based on the attitude of the owner alone. He does not know how to run a business, much less make Italian food.
