This is a great panera. We go out of our way to frequent this location because: service. Everyone here has been great to us-- and we are just sip club people who make demands (more almond milk please etc) and seldom buy food. The few times we have the orders (breakfast sandwiches, soup, salad, smoothie) have been perfect. They just see us as regular customers-- and they go out of their way to treat customers well. I ordered a cup of Chili yesterday for lunch at $7.12. I was expecting a nice piping hot hearty beef chili with beans. I didn't get that. We really loved Panera before and during the Pandemic. Now, the quality and quantities have diminished to the point where we won't be returning. One of our favorites was the Asian sesame chicken salad. They previously filled their large clamshell container with very fresh salad and ample chicken. At home, when we opened the bag we were shocked to find the container less than half full withe a few small pieces of chicken. I weighed the order without the container and found just under 5 ounces of food having not so fresh lettuce. We tried calling the store 3 times at 2:45 pm (between rush hours according to the pre-reorded phone message) to speak with the manager. Here's the problem with Panera, ANY Panera. You walk in planning to select a healthy choice off their menu and they make you walk past all the great bakery goods to get to the register! By the time I get ready to order all I can think of is skipping the soups and sandwiches and just start with dessert! HAHA! It's cruel and unusual punishment I tell you! Seriously, though Panera has figured out high-quality food delivered fast and easy. When I was in charge of breakfast meetings at work I used to order pastries for pickup. Ordering online was easy. Pickup was easy. They just make the whole Panera experience easy. This Panera has numbers on the tables so you can sit down and order from their phone app. If you don't want to stand in line and you don't have their phone app they also have the kiosks when you come in. I stopped by this one today to camp out and do paperwork with coffee. They have a great selection of fresh coffee and refills are as easy as getting up and pouring yourself more. I did that several times. One thing that disappoints me about Panera is that the volume of conversations at other tables can rise to a point where the background noise can make it seem like you're calling your customers from a high school cafeteria. It could have just been that it was the lunch hour but keep that in mind if you're looking to camp out and make customer phone calls. read more

I had forgotten how pleasant it is to eat at Panera Bread. There is a branch very close to Northwestern Medicine Healthtrack on Roosevelt Rd. where I get my PT sessions. Their lunch combos are delicious and just the right amount. It's very clean here. I feel safely distanced from other customers because of the set up of booths and long study counters. My favorite Panera. I enjoy this location too much. My only selfish complaint is they are sometimes too busy! Which is good for them. They are very accommodating. Their customer service is obviously a focus - often being asked how my meal was, often being asked if they could do anything else. Never had a bad experience. Had one VERY small mishap once, wrong cookies lol. Quickly corrected and apologetic. Offered me more cookies which my kids would have liked but politely declined and thanked them for the offer. Their SIP club is a club I'm proud to be in saving me more money then I can imagine each month compared to other comparable cafes/restaurants. Keep up the good work!!! read more

The new Panera Bread in Glen Ellyn, how exciting! Well, not really. But I've been here a few times now, both drive-thru and dine-in, and they do a good job. The drive-thru is easy to get in and out of and wow are they FAST! I almost consider, for next time, going through the drive-thru and then taking my food inside because THAT'S how fast they are! If you're dining in you'll have plenty of choices, depending on time of day and the crowd..., of different kinds of tables and arrangements and you'll notice that the atmosphere is laid back, relaxed, and focused (many people are working or reading or... doing something. The food is Panera, nothing more and nothing less. The soups are solid, the sandwiches are tasty (depending on which you get) but overall they execute well on the meal. Everything is nicely made (aesthetically), tastes good, and most importantly comes out hot/fresh. I must say that I'm rather content that this Panera has entered the fray of Glen Ellyn. I think they will do very well here and I know we'll be back again sometime. read more

Let me preface this review by saying I worked for Panera Bread in high school for quite some time. My expectations of any Panera Bread location are lofty given my experience, and given the fact many things about the restaurant have gotten better over the last 15 years (kiosk ordering is a BIG win, for example...) I love Panera. It's a 5-star restaurant for me. Always has and will be. That being said - this location was disappointing. It was 9:10 on a Thursday Night (about 1 hour ago). I'm the sole patron in the restaurant. I could see eight people - 2 cleaning the dining room, 1 at the register, 3 on the sandwich line, and 2 employees that recently clocked out. There were probably more working back of the house that I didn't see. Why did a soup, salad, and sandwich take 20 minutes to complete with me being the only person in the restaurant with 3 guys working the line? That's totally unacceptable. It's not like anything was missing or broken...they had clearly checked out for the night and were more interested in talking to the two employees on the front side of the counter that recently finished their shifts. Why did they give me 4 spoons (for 1 soup) and 0 forks (for 1 salad)? What kind of unmitigated amateurism is that?? It's a small thing...but SO ridiculous it warrants being highlighted. We came here around 11:20 on a Saturday and were ready to order lunch. We panicked a little because the menu only showed breakfast options. We were told we could order lunch, just that the menu hadn't been turned around yet. I rely on the menu! I panicked since it was our turn to order and I didn't know what to get. My husband's grilled cheese was about 2% toasted on the outside but the inside was still melty so he enjoyed it (last time he had a panera grilled cheese, they melted all the cheese out of the sandwich so this was an upgrade!). However they do have an image of being extremely healthy which is not really the case. Their soups are extremely high in sodium. The macaroni and cheese is also filled with tons of preservatives. I'm not a Panera junkie. It's not usually my place of choice, especially in the morning. However, I ran out of coffee & tea at home and had a coupon for a free cup of coffee, so I came here yesterday morning before work. This location is a bit odd as it's probably the only place open early in this strip mall. It's easy to overlook. I grabbed a parking spot right in front, and rushed in, eager to get my free cup. Turns out it's just for plain coffee. I can't do plain coffee. I need flavored magic in it. Disappointed, but hungry and tired, I went ahead and ordered a breakfast sandwich and cafe latte. After I paid, the manager informed that the espresso machine was not working yet and it would be a bit of a wait. Would I want anything else instead or a free pastry on the house? I suggested switching the cafe latte for a Chai tea, but that drink also uses the same machine. I decided to wait -- I wasn't in a hurry. However, the manager promptly refunded my drink and encouraged me to have a free pastry. Free drink AND a free pastry? OK, sure! Can't pass that up! A few moments later, I had my sandwich, latte, and pumpkin cookie in hand. YUM. Overall, this Panera is just an ordinary location, but the customer service was fantastic. I put in a pick-up order online for a "bundle" and coffee totes for a morning meeting to be picked up at the Roosevelt Rd. Glen Ellyn location. I called the location repeatedly just to find out if creamer and sugar came with the coffee totes. No one would answer; it would just ring and ring and eventually just cut the phone call off. This occurred between 7:30-7:50 PM... not a busy time of day, according to the recording. By the way, when I dialed the Glen Ellyn phone number and pressed 3 for catering, it redirected my call to the Butterfield location, which, by the way, has a lovely woman who answers the phone by the 2nd ring...twice! The Glen Ellyn location didn't answer no matter what number I pressed. I had to actually go to the Glen Ellyn location last night because the "catering" order wouldn't go through, only to find out that this location does not do catering. Then why is it an option on their website? Someone who came out from the back when I asked to speak to a manager informed me that I could not put the order in in-person, but had to order online to be picked up at their location. All of the time I spent customizing my catering order was for nothing because when the time came to pay, it just wouldn't let me even put in payment information. It would have been nice to know that they don't do catering before spending all that time... a process which I had to repeat when I got home... only for "pick-up" since they don't do catering. This has turned simple coffee, bagels, and pastries into a big, stressful ordeal. Needless to say, I will not be ordering anything from this location again. Ordered take out for me and my granddaughter. Turkey plain on a baguette and a pick 2 with turkey on white and summer strawberry Caprese salad and of corse a cookie. What we got was 1 plain turkey on whole grain and they other turkey on the whole grain bread too. Did get the caprese salad although wished I would have went a different salad. To many bitter greens and over powered the salad and didn't care for the dressing either bonus they included a cup of soup. I'm thinking it was the summer corn soup. My granddaughter ended up not eating her sandwich at all but I ate my half even though the bread was wrong and not as good as when it on their white bread. Spent $21 for my granddaughter to eat a cookie for lunch and for me to eat a half mediocre sandwich and a few bites of a very bitter salad . I did call when we got home and seen the order was wrong. They offered to remake it if I want to come back or they can mail me a coupon. I choose the coupon as I did not feel like driving back out there. They said they will replace the pick two coupon. I've always enjoyed Panera sandwiches and soups but today my husband and I went into this Panera and ordered the chicken Napa sandwich and had about a tablespoon of chicken salad on my sandwich. I have never had this happen at any other Panera. It was like eating a tomato and lettuce sandwich. Very disappointed, very disappointed in this location.
