I went to a Panera bread Glastonbury store with my son. After I placed order, I made an inquiry on one gift I purchased before. The store uses a totally unacceptable rude manner to handle my inquiry. Here is the story: I bought a gift card around Christmas time and there was a promotion ongoing and the store was running out of promotion card and wrote down my name and promised to give me a call when back in stock. I totally forgot it and don't remember I receive any call from the store. When I asked , the manager came over and said the store had already made every call to the list and I must have received the call or I am not on the list. The way she talked to me likes I just want to ask for free gift card by making up a story. So I asked her to double check whether my name is on the list. She is very impatient and say there is no name like my name even though she used a totally wrong spelling of my name. I wrote down my name and she went in and after very long time she came out and said my name is not on the list. I asked whether I could check the name list. She said no because of customer privacy. I totally understand the privacy policy. Therefore, I mentioned to her that I definitely bought the card and I could find my credit record to prove the purchase. She said she doesn't need it and the store just could not give free gift card to me. I am not happy with her attitude she talked to me. When I expressed that I would like to talk to the manager, She said she is the store manager and this inquiry is over. She acted like she is the boss and I could not do anything to her and I have to accept her attitude. She even said "good night" to me even though it is 1pm. I am wondering whether this is the attitude Panera bread company treats its customer and Glastonbury store manager's attitude is the attitude Panera bread company asks for its local store manager. read more

My favorite "fast" food place in Glastonbury. A lunch for two is usually about $20 and service is fairly quick. I'd love to see the Panera chain offer lessons on how to pronounce some of their menu items. A recent visit where I apparently mis-pronounced Chipotle elicited a grossed out stare from the tween-something bored looking high haired cashier. We return here time and again and each meal is just enough to make us full and to leave feeling as if we had a healthy meal. read more

Although Panera is primarily my go-to place for good bread (love the sough-dough). But I'm having some dental work done and I need something I didn't need to chew and their soups are always very good. I had the Tomato today and it was excellent. The small crowd was processed quickly and I was seated and eating in minutes. I finished with a black cherry smoothie through a remarkably large diameter straw making it easy to drink. Excellent. Stopped in for lunch figuring it would be quick, affordable and better than typical fast food. I haven't been to a Panera in quite some time but always enjoyed them in the past. I ordered a half sandwich, soup and a drink. I was a bit surprised when the total was $14.22. I was very surprised when I saw the portion size but again thought it would be worth the price...it wasn't. Soup was very good but steak and cheese panini was meh at best. Sad to say this place has been declining. The people they have been hiring are lazy and incompetent. No one is friendly here anymore and people just don't seem to care what they're doing. It shows in the food and the cleanliness here. Today my salad had zero dressing on it, with the ugliest pieces of chicken and salad I have ever seen. I would love to have the baked potato soup back at Panera, it's my favorite, but maybe it's not a soup they do over the summer. I love it in general, lemonade is super fresh, lobster roll that's going on now is stuffed and yummy! Huge selection and it's amazing they can handle such a large menu. Yikes. Not a great experience. Arrived at 1pm on a Saturday, so peak lunch hours. Only one cashier on the registers so there's a long line for orders, but whatever maybe the other one was on break. Order our food, comes to $27 for lunch for two people. A little expensive but not unheard of. Sit down, wait, get our food. For the most part it was pretty good, I got a broccoli cheddar soup and a turkey blt that was fine. The bread was cold and hard as a rock which was a bit disappointing for a restaurant that poses as a bakery. While we're eating however the woman working the smoothie station starts yelling at another employee about something, not what you want to hear when you're trying to relax and eat lunch. When we went to put our dishes away the dish return area was overflowing and dirty. Overall I don't mind paying almost $30 for lunch if we're getting actual service but for the experience we got it's not worth it at all. Until they can figure out staffing issues I would say stay away or at least mobile order to get in and out quick! read more

We had our first bad experience with Panera in Glastonbury. My wife purchased two egg & sausage sandwiches and a bagel. The bagel was fine but the sandwiches were disgusting. The food is good--Panera has good quality control, so if you eat at one, you've eaten at them all. But the service at the Glastonbury location is hit or miss. It almost seems like they do a better job when it's busy. Often when there are only a few customers there, I've had the experience of waiting several minutes to have my order taken, even though there are several people bustling around behind the counter, looking busy but unsure what they're supposed to be doing. I have been to a lot of Paneras in my time and have never experienced such poor service at one before. I have been to this particular Panera three times now. In my first two visits, I figured it was just an off day and decided not to write them off completely. After my experience last night, I decided it would be my last time. For starters, they all seem to be very disorganized and confused about what's going on. This causes everything to happen extremely slow. After I placed my order, I walked over to the counter to wait for my food. Although it was only me and my friend who had placed orders, no one was behind the counter in the food preparation area. After a good five minutes someone finally appeared but was doing something else. Another five minutes later someone finally began to make my sandwich. At this point more people had come in and were placing orders. They placed my sandwich on the counter but I was still waiting on my mac n' cheese. My friend was waiting on a soup and a mac n' cheese. While we were waiting, three or four other orders were ready for people who had came in after me and my friend. After another ten minutes in whole, our orders were finally ready. It seems odd to me that two such simple orders would take such a long time. There was also no recognition or apology from the staff about it. I chose to go to a place like Panera because to me, it is high quality fast food. If I wasn't looking for a ready quick meal, I would go elsewhere. It simply defeats the purpose. My friend and I sat down and ate our meals which as usual were tasty. We were taking our time and were talking as we were eating. All of the sudden a large amount of people began gathering around us and talking and it became every clear they were all employees. There was a manager standing up and looking frustrated that there were customers around. My friend and I asked the manager if they were trying to have a staff meeting and she said "Yes". We told her we would go to which her response was "No I don't want to kick you out". She was very nice and explained that the rest. had closed 15 minutes prior. My friend and I were completely unaware they were closed as there were lots of other customers still around. This became very awkward especially considering the manager was going to start having a meeting next to us very soon. I would've appreciated it more if the manager would've explained to us what was going on or kindly asked us to move/leave. Other restaurants give a "warning" when it gets close to closing time. Overall the food has never been bad but the service is off. I wouldn't go back to this location. read more

Today was the 3rd time I ordered for a Company breakfast where I got to work and didn't have my entire order. Although all that was missing was cream cheese, can you imagine serving bagels without cream cheese? And it wasn't the first time this has happened. I spoke to the manager and although appropriately apologetic he couldn't fix the issue as I was now in downtown Hartford. I love Panera but can't continue to go to one that repeatedly screws up my order. Let's hope the next Panera does a little better with attention to detail...there's always Au Bon Pain. read more

This is probably one of the worst places I have ever been. The managers are awful. Very rude to the employees , I have witnessed it myself. I feel very bad for the young boys & girls that are working there that have to put it up with it. If i were them I would just want to leave. I use to be a normal customer and then they went under new management and everything went down hill. I use to have favorite employees that I now rarely see if I go in there. The new women manager comes off very snotty , very rude & very disrespectful to the young people there. Its like she talks down upon them because for many of them it is there first job. read more

First off the food and service are great. However, there seems to be a supply issue that needs to be addressed. The last 3 visits have all included an issue with my order. Out of a certain bread or out of egg or something else that is out. The employees all have been very helpful but they should certainly be able to keep menu items in stock. read more

Wrong order and terrible customer service policy re: being refunded. I placed an order online this afternoon. I paid for the order online. When I returned home one of the sandwhiches did not resemble the one I purchased. I ordered a Half Modern Caprese Sandwich with Sliced Tomatoes and Avocado and specified NO Balsamic Glaze and No Smoky Tomato Confit. What I received instead was a sandwhich with everything I asked them to leave off and nothing of what I asked them to add. To make things worse, there was no cheese- the main component of the sandwich! Worse still was the customer service and their policy. I was offered a panera credit of the price of the sandwich which would take a week, or I could choose to escalate it in an effort to receive an actual refund and that was not guaranteed. Nor were they willing to let me know if it did get approved. I was told I would just have to check my credit card statement. And if it is not approved, for whatever reason, I will have no recourse. This is the second order they have gotten wrong for me in a just a few visits. Very, very disappointing. I expect better given what they advertise and what they charge. read more

Want a blackish burned croissant? Go to Panera Bread in Glastonbury. My wife was going to go to the supermarket to get a couple of croissants for breakfast but then decided to go to Panera instead. Just had the worse Sierra Turkey sandwich ever! Had to throw more than 1/2 away, the bread was dry and hard and the turkey was beginning to turn colors around the dry hard edges. I will NOT be returning anytime soon. read more
