Clearly Understaffed.. longest Panera wait in life and there is no one in here
    Inquiring M.

Absolutely worst Panera experience in life. Super duper slow, there was no on in there but took over 10 mins to get 1 sandwich and a 1/2 a sandwich for my kid. Eventuality I realize the guy preparing the food was not only by himself but also manning the drive thru orders ALONE, from taking the orders, to preparing em. I'll never return here or suggest this location to anyone.

    Yeah, they're wrong for this

Update: Just spoke to the manager Joshua who was extremely apologetic & explained we could come back tomorrow for a refund or complimentary meal. So my wife will return tomorrow & hopefully I can get replacements for the two purchased or just our money back The chicken noodle soup I was given has TWO noodles NO chicken, & THREE carrots. Soooo I basically got chicken broth soup instead of CNS we asked & paid for.

Initially announcing its grand opening on May 20th, Edison's third Panera Bread store opened three days later with Free You Pick Two® for a Year certificates for the first 100 guests in line (as well as an apology by way of a free pastry though with no explanation for the delay). Located next to Playa Bowls on the corner of the strip mall next to Wawa, this store has a small patio with outdoor seating as well as a drive-thru lane that wraps around the alley between Panera and Playa. The interior features a wrap-around layout as well: condiment/drink station in the center and bakery/cashier in the far right corner with the pick-up area/kitchen in the back corner by the restrooms separated by a long walkway. I'm a little disappointed that this location only has three touch-screen self-serve kiosks but also surprised to see absolutely no one using them during the lunch rush. The kiosks are one of the newer models with the Verifone chip readers and loaded with the horribly minimalist UI that has the blinding white background. They read magnetic stripes as well, though I haven't tried them with contactless payments. This store has decided not to give the kiosks their own dedicated space, creating the all-too-common scenario where you'll have to nudge aside customers waiting in line for the cash registers in order to even get to the kiosks and hope that those other customers aren't glancing over your shoulder when you order. The other slight disappointment/improvement is the new order fulfillment system: the buzzers actual buzz now but only because instead of a food runner bringing your food to your table you have to pick it up yourself from the kitchen counter. This is true for both dine-in and take-out customers. I support this practice if it cuts down on headcount, but only if it also doesn't create a bottleneck. All things considered, this is the best Panera Bread in Edison that is not anywhere near a shopping mall. The food and service are both acceptable. The restrooms and beverage stations are well-stocked and clean. The booths at the end are clearly where most college students with laptops will be aiming to sit. I can't believe the Subway two doors down is still in business.

It CAME like this - not on the side. It is like mud. GROSS. AWFUL.

So glad the menu has changed for Panera Bread. It has renewed my interest significantly.

They have many menu options ranging from preset poke bowls, to make your own, combo meals, and mini meals. Drinks are about $2.50 a piece, and a wide variety of Hawaiian Sun, casual soda. I was tempted to get the mini meal since I don't eat a lot, but I ultimately caved and decided to get the combo meal since I wanted to try the Kailua pork too. The verdict? The Kailua pork was a little too salty for me, it comes mixed with like cabbage or lettuce, and overall very mushy which I didn't mind. However the Chicken Katsu came with a bbq type sauce and everyone thought the sauce was delicious. My fiance ordered the bbq mix which included the bbq chicken, beef, and short ribs and I thought the beef was so yummy. The portion size was big. All the combos come with either 1-2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. My meal was pretty perfect for 2 whole meals for me. I ate the katsu with my leftover rice for breakfast the next morning! The food comes in takeout containers which makes it very easy for you to take to go if you don't finish. I might have to come back and try the poke next time...

I went there for dinner on a weekday at around 6:30 and by 8pm it was starting to get busy. The food quantity is huge - I had enough to take home and have for two more meals. I ordered the half ribs and half beef - my only con is that it's very sweet, I needed some spice so when I went home I added jalapenos and heated it. They do have siracha tho if you'd like that.

The interior is incredibly clean with plenty of seating, including both booths and regular tables. The ordering process is seamless, you can either head to the front counter or use the iPad stations for a quick checkout. It seems like it's a local fav spot for both dining in and grabbing a quick to-go order, since it was fairly busy when I was there. I went ahead and ordered the House Special Poke , it had tuna, shrimp, salmon, assorted veggies, ginger, and crispy onions (and of course the rice) . Although the digital ordering system didn't allow for any topping swaps or add ons, there is a comment section at the end of the purchase. To drink, there are tons of fun options like bubble teas and milk teas where you can adjust the sweetness and choose your preferred boba. The real star of the show is the steamed shrimp dumplings. You get eight pieces per order, which is very generous since they are stuffed with shrimp paste and served with a light, sweet dipping sauce. The service is excellent; the staff is happy to provide containers for leftovers, and there is a convenient self-service station for water, silverware, and napkins. Overall, this is such a yummy spot, and I'll definitely be coming back!
