This review is solely on the idea that we were able to stop in and use the restrooms. We were passing thru to stop off at the Men's Wearhouse next door shortly after 10 a.m. The Men's Wearhouse did not have a public restroom and we had been driving for a couple of hours. Panara was the only restaurant in this step that was open. We were grateful and although we weren't hungry and did not purchase anything, we would stop back and patronize this business. It was fairly busy so that says something. They had a few tables outside on the sidewalk that seemed popular as they were all taken. read more

I can see why this place has a mid to low rating. It is definitely a supervisor issue. In the 15 minutes I was waiting to order and to get my food to go, the employees were told 2 times by customers that the coffee dispensers were empty. It was only 9:15 AM and they were almost out of bagels. All of the young people working were hustling to take and fulfill orders while the supervisor (I am assuming she was the supervisor because she was middle aged) was complaining non stop about some online orders, which were obviously upsetting her because they were customized sandwiches. She kept interrupting those who were working to read them the orders and show them how many pages the orders were. How about you jump in and help the crew and stop bringing morale down. I tried to place an order online to pick up. When I went to pay I realized I forgotten enter promo code so went back and did that and went to pay again my gift card balance was gone. I thought I could call and they would help me fix it. WRONG!! They could not be bothered to answer their phone. I tried 6 times. I tried catering option, help with an order option, supervisor option and every time it would ring and ring then hang up on me. This was in afternoon so not lunch rush. I went to store and there were no customers. Employees just standing around. I spoke to supervisor then manager and was treated like I was stupid. They said their phone never rang. I showed them on my phone every call I made. The worst customer service I have ever had. Not even an apology. I buy hundreds of dollars for certificates every year but never again. So frustrated by my lunch visit today. I selected DINE IN and was given a to go bag (along with everyone else) with bread bowls and soup. Wrong side too I might add. So here we are trying to cut bread bowls with plastic knives and pouring soup into a bread bowl that's placed on a napkin because they aren't using plates at the moment. Do yourself a favor by just getting a sandwich or pastry to go here because there won't be a seat available. Everyone was feeling rushed because of new arrivals standing around for a seat. We order Panera's catering often when we have meetings and conferences at work, and I have been very impressed with the sandwiches and salads we have gotten recently. Enough so, that I felt it was necessary to write a review. THAT GOOD. The BLT with avocado is delightfully light, but filling and the bread was soft and delicious. The Modern Caprese sandwich was a complete surprise to me. I wasn't thinking I would like it, but I found myself wanting another! It's essentially a caprese salad on a hard roll, and man-oh-man, was it great! Salads are always fresh and mouth-watering. They have a poppyseed dressing that is the perfect addition to any salad. One of my favorite places to come for comfort food is Panera. The mac and cheese is incredible, when served hot (which it was super hot in today's experience, but In some past recent visits it's been just slightly warm and chunky looking. In another experience my boyfriends grilled cheese was not melted at all, and his soup was watery and cold.) I've given the eau claire location so much service and tonight drove me over the edge with the overall experience. My boyfriend and I weren't even acknowledged we we stepped up to the counter. We actually thought they were closing the kitchen. Ordering was no problem. Go to sit down and every table is either crumby or wet. It looked like they hadn't cleared out the dirty dish station all day. Both were filled to the brim. When we were almost done, I grabbed my bowl and it was covered in old hard soup or something. Because that's how commerce thinks they can get the public to believe they are paying less. And Panera continues this because that's the way it's done. Panera was founded in 1981 by Ron Schaich. He sold the company this year for $7.5 BILLION. Read on - April 2017: "Panera's success is why privately held [German] investment firm JAB is paying so handsomely to acquire the chain, which has about 2,000 locations and generates more than $5 billion in annual systemwide sales. The deal will mean Panera will be controlled by the same company that also owns Keurig Green Mountain, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, and Peet's Coffee & Tea, all brands that have been acquired in the past five years." What does this mean for me, the consumer? Their portions are very small and their "pick 2" is a super devious method of getting the customer to spend more. The organization of their overhead menu is organized by price point, not the food item. Why? Shop for food based on price vs. quality?. A 'half' portion is about 60 cents cheaper than a "full" half sandwich. I'm sure the corporate board has run an algorithm/statistics about how to open a bakery chain and make money, because the food industry runs on very slim profit margins. My half tuna fish sandwich was tiny(maybe 3T. of tuna fish) and the cesar salad (with a hunk of warm baguette) had barely any dressing. Essentially, I spent $8.51 for a lot of bread. Ugh. On the positive side, they provide fast service from order to receipt of food. They give you a buzzer so you stake out a table while waiting for your food. Bus your own table. They have a nice selection of baked goods.I do know that at the end of the day, they take left over baked products and give it to shelters. I think a revision of price stucture and menu might get me to return for lunch. If I was in the neighborhood and wanted some carbs I might head in for baked goods. It's Panera.... If you've been to any Panera, anywhere, this one is just like the ones you've been to else where. Same menu, baked goods, coffee, etc. I particularly like this one because it is midway for my long drive back home to NW Wisconsin so, it's a great place to grab lunch and an iced coffee. It's pretty conveniently located near Hwy 53, and easy enough to get to. Hint: The parking lot is really hard to negotiate and, during busy times, always seems to be full. read more

I was in a large group (nearly thirty people) stopping by right at the beginning of the afternoon. I noticed the signs saying they were low on staff so good might take a while. Nevertheless, they took our order very professionally. My friend waited by the drink counter for her coffee, and another customer was rude with both her and the employee making drinks. From what I could tell, the employee handled this very well and my friend had nothing negative to say about the staff. The food was handed out order by order after getting to the customers who arrived before us. I believe everyone got their correct order, and any corrections were made if not. A couple of girls that were with us even asked to switch their bread out for chips after receiving their food, and were given the chips free of charge along with their bread. Walked in there with my friend to grab a quick bite and some coffee. When my friend ordered her BLT, the bread was not toasted and the bacon was basically cold and not crispy. We were like "okay no biggie, it happens" (still tasted alright). The reason why our experience went from okay to worse is when I ordered an iced mocha but was given a hot one. Normally I'd be okay with it and just get a different one, the iced mocha I ordered originally. That was not the case. The manager decided he was gonna give me grief about it and just refund me my money, I still very much wanted my drink at this point. The total was $5.04 and gave me more grief when I corrected him trying to only refund me $4.21!! Like dude, I just wanna leave now. Honestly my favorite chain in our area! I absolutely love their soups and their great bowls they also have a super cute little bakery that have the cutest little treats. The way that things are ran in there is super neat and convenient! The food is ready super quick and always perfect. After looking at the menu and standing at the register for five minutes we still were not acknowledged by the staff who seemed too consumed in their work in the kitchen to help us.
